  • Josh Turner is an american country and pop singer.
    He has an amazing soft low voice.
    Voice Type: Low Baritone - Basso Cantante.
    Lowest Note: A1 - Firecracker (Live at Grand Ole Opri)
    Highest Chest Note: G4 - So Not My Baby
    Highest Note: C#5 - Haywire.
    Vocal range: A1 - C#5 (3 octaves and 2 tones).
    This is the vocal range demonstrated by Josh, maybe he could hit higher or lower notes.
    Unlike what people think, he does not have the note G1.
    He sings a B1, while the bass player plays the G1, forming a major third between Josh and the bass player.
    You can find me on facebook: FunVocalRange

      zan colja yes it is. Not everyone is a Russian basso profundo. As a soloist, his low notes make him a bass. You can even tell from his heavy rich tone in his speaking voice. No baritone talks like that.

    He’s definitely a bass with a wide range and solid high notes (for a bass-baritone). Basses in choirs will have to sing D4s and even E4s on occasion. Although rare, some opera roles may require an F or even a G.

      Bass baritone is a sub voice part. It can be as rare as a real Bass but it's in between bass and baritone there's no way he's a full baritone

    Vocal classifications are useful for opera primarily, and for choral and barbershop and any form of harmonizing. For soloists in non classical music it is mainly just fun to classify their voices. Josh took a little classical training to protect his voice when he had some voice trouble some years back, and I'm sure his voice teacher told him about his voice type. I read he was classified as "basso cantablile". Vocal classification DOES have a great deal to do with range, but as another commentor pointed out, timbre and tessitura are more crucial to determining type than range alone.

    • @llrice3711
      @llrice3711 2 роки тому

      I listen to a group with a basso profundo, and Josh's upper range makes him a basso cantante, I think it's called. It doesn't matter what you call it, it's perfection!

    • @Zenweaponry
      @Zenweaponry 2 роки тому

      Basso cantabile would have been my guess as well. He doesn't have the "thickness" of the profundo, nor the volume down low. He has excellent low notes for mic'd singing though, and his voice lacking that extra thickness lets him lighten up for all of his higher notes without sounding outside of the country style.

    Also, I'm not so sure that Josh doesn't do a G1 at 0:46. You can tell that when he goes "doooom ba dooom", on that second "doom" you can hear him climb up from where he starts, and the note he climbs up to is a B1, so he couldn't have started on a B1 because you wouldn't hear him climb up to a B1 if he did. Sounds like a G1 to me. Still, good job on finding all these notes, especially with the spoken notes like from 0:57 to 1:10! I'm not very good at identifying spoken notes, lol.

    • @pinesyeet
      @pinesyeet 3 роки тому

      It is kinda muffled, which could be his voice or the mic or whatever, but if we consider it a clean note, that is definitely a G. I almost thought it could be an F# first, but the more I tried it for myself an octave higher, it's a G no doubt, so I think you're right.
      Pro tip for finding spoken notes btw: Focus your mind on the sound and remake the note for longer to find them :) Edit: It could be the background bass playing tricks on my ears though.

    He's definitely singing an A1 (using English/American SPN, Scientific Pitch Notation), which is the 8th white key, counting from left of piano, with A0 being the 1st white key on the piano from the left). NOTE: German Notation refers to [A0 as A,, ]; [A1 as A, ]; [A2 as A ]; [A2 as a ] and Concert Pitch (440 Hz) or [A4 would be a' ]. On a different note (no pun intended), more than a few basso profundo, bass, or bass/baritone singers, can sing a A1 in full voice. I sing in a classical repertoire choir and practice A1 on my way to G1 in full voice almost every day, without utilizing any vocal frying. In fact, Tim Storm's voice, (Guinness Book of World record holder for low note singing) has been measured as singing as low as a G-7 (the G-7 note is sub-aural, and thus has to be measured by a scientific instrument). It's really wobbly down in his negative octaves, but his E1 on up is clear, resonant, and strong. There are quite a few basso profundo singers you can checkout on UA-cam.

    @GamingDrummer89 11 років тому +5

    The low note in Firecracker here is actually a B1. I checked the pitch on it. Josh Turner seems to be a lower than average bass but not a basso profundo. The B1 here is in full voice (i.e. not in vocal fry) but it's not nearly as resonant as a profundo would sing it. I heard Tim Riley (Gold City quartet) do a Bb1 with no mic (and in a room full of people talking!) and it sounded more resonant than the B1 here. Josh is still arguably the lowest country singer (besides Richard Sterban, of course.)

    I've got F2(without fry) to C5 belt(and on a lucky day D5 belt). Though i'll be honest it sounds like Josh is flipping(going into fallsetto) into his C so it may not be a legit. The recording is really not consistent/long enough to tell if he's in his fallsetto, mixing, or actually hitting the note.
    Edit: Scratch that he's definitely flipping. He probably only has legit up to that G(maybe Ab) which is great don't get me wrong, but That ooooou He sings is flipped into his fallsetto. Due to the nature of the vowel and the deepness in his voice it doesn't sound like a 16yr old 22 year olds fallsetto but it is a fallsetto.
    I will say his Truth is G2-Ab4 But with vocal fry he can go down to the B1 or whatever his lowest in vocal fry is and with his lower pitched fallsetto he can cheat up to C5 without sounding like he's in fallsetto.

      Look, you will be able to improve. Find a coach or singing course like ktva who/which will teach you to stretch your chest voice and teach you to allow your resonance to rise up to your head so you can hit upper fifth octave notes.
      High baritone who can belt C6(on a scale) and Bb5 in song and sing down to E2 in full voice

    • @ihyp3rate761

      Billy Jones, making a kickstarter or gofundme to get money is kinda useless if the people who are looking to fund you laptop don't trust you,
      like for example, in a bank if you have bad credit score, it's a sign that the bank does'nt trust you, since it sees that you don't have much experience in buying,
      it's more personal on those funding websites,
      if the people looking to fund you trust you enough to give you their hard earned money, then that's the way, but if you're just gonna use them for non practical uses, or you don't do what you promised to do for the people who funded you, then it's just a waste and they can even take back the money you earned.
      So if you really really needed those things, i'd rather you try working on small jobs that you can handle then from there get a crappy laptop, then make more money off of the laptop, maybe do Graphic Design like i do, then buy a new laptop,
      Dammit i'm 12 and i'm an analyst

      Chris Maidens Is there even something as a true tenor or a true baritone? baritone is about G2 - G4, tenor is about C3 - A4 in chest voice. but shouldn't it be expected that human voices go randomly inbewteen? like there are men whos lowest note is a G#2, some who's lowest note is an A#2, some who's lowest note may be a C#3. Or do human voices really exactly fit into bass, baritone or tenor?

    It's fun to sing in falsetto or use vocal fry (and other techniques such as subharmonics and growling) but to be honest, as a Bass-Baritone i prefer using chest to go from my lowest, which is a G#1 to my highest, G4. I'm happy with my almost-3 octave Chest Range. But with mixed(vocal fry and chest) i can go as low as Eb1 with full resonance and a nice timbre.
