his voice is comfortable and solid down to G2-G#2, as to be expected with those notes being in baritone tessitura, but its clear he trained to sing as much like a tenor as his voice is capable of. that last B4 belt is nuts for someone who isnt a tenor tbh

He's a high baritone. The vocal type just indicates where is your break between your chest voice and your head voice, but doesn't indicate how low can you go. Of course usually if you are a tenor you won't be able to hit a C2

    • @tonyreel9677
      @tonyreel9677 4 роки тому +4

@@gleamingrake7689 Of course, the passaggio is crucial, but it's not so simple to recognize it from a song... You have to listen to a voice in a lesson with a piano... And moreover, if you are a tenor without the right technique, it could be hard even to sing an E4. Then someone could say you are a baritone, due to the typical the passaggio on the Eb4, but they would be wrong. And in the history of opera various great tenors where wrongly labeled as baritones, and then discovered to be tenors. So it's a complex matter, and even useless, because what matters is that he has a beautiful voice.

I agree probably like a dramatic tenor based on a b natural he flips on the high notes. He could be in choir singing second tenor. The barbershop lead is the kind of range that a lyric tenor or spinto tenor would have with a high baritone range in tessitura while a barbershop baritone has the range of both a lyric baritone and a heldentenor but has a tenor range in tessitura. Jackman would be in between singing barbarshop baritone and lead. Heldentenors are the types of true tenors that extend below C3 enough to be misidentified as true baritones that extend above middle c with a tenor tessitura. Therefore no facility for a high C too often in dramatic tenor or heldentenor repretoire. I would say that he is in between a lyric baritone and a dramatic tenor in range plus has a tenor tessitura to probably tranistion if he were to sing Wagnerian and Verdian opera tenor repretoire become a heldentenor. Maybe a robusto tenor with some bass notes.

Well, go on Hugh!!!!!!!!! : -o
I knew he sang Broadway, but I never knew his range.
He is an easy-flowing Baritone. He sings well high, so perhaps an higher-singing Baritone:
    Bass and Baritone range: C2-F4.
Verdi Baritones capable of agile staccato, sing higher than the lower singing Baritones, and can sing up to C5 well and
Lyric Baritones (who only sing in Opera Houses and are also capable of agility) can sing up to Eb5 and higher -- have expansion potential.
Since Hugh can sing well C3 and up and VERY well C4 and higher, and so past F4, so....yep, I just saw the end of the video: High Baritone...
    So confirms my theory.
Lower singing Baritones will have a lower and narrower range and can sing dramatic notes well, but since Hugh is a
Higher singing Baritone he will naturally have a wider range, agility, and Countertenor capabilities, so.....
This is where one singer can actually fall into 2 or more Classical categories of Vocal Fach (vocal classifications)....There are a few classifications of Baritone, as there are with Bass, Tenour, Contralto, Mezzo, and Soprano...
Hugh sang as well as acted when on a Broadway stage, so he can fit two or more operatic Baritone categories...so...
    Hugh Jackman (Heldenbariton or even
Verdi Baritone) -- C2 - C5 (Mixed and Head Voice)
Hugh Jackman (Lyric Baritone) -- C2 - G5 (Mixed and Head Voice).
    Hugh Jackman (Countertenor) -- C2 - B5 (Falsetto/Head A5 - B5)
He could use Head Voice in A5 - B5, who knows?

He is deffinetely a tenor. His voice is too light and just listen to his high register! (G4-Bb4). Baritones don`t have such stamina there. But we talk not about oera, right&)))))))

Hm, you know, he just has a great vocal range. He takes high notes with ease. Baritones used to sing these note wit a belt. But he has so much chest in this sound!

He's a baritone, he's too low to be a lyric/spinto tenor and not enough ringing quality in his sound to be a Dramatic tenor. Baritones can devolop their voices to sing upper 4th octave notes with ease. Here are a few baritones who sing high, Scott hoying, Caleb hyles, David Draiman

His passaggi are at C#4 and F#4. He is a spinto tenor. His voice is not rich enough to be a dramatic tenor nor a true baritone. His voice also sits too high to be a baritone.

Definitely not easy but very possible. Ima tenor who can manage an E2 but very breathy. I imagine a baritone can easily manage a D2
