Excellent video, I used to play the stock DG S200 in my SW and LW but a couple of years ago I switched to the DG S400 TI and preferred the extra weight, only last month I tested the KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 135 X and was blown away by their performance as they provide excellent spin, trajectory control and feel so these went straight in the bag, I play PX 6.5 shafts in 4 iron to GW.
Great video! I actually play the Nippon 950 GH NEO through out, including th especially wedges. But then, I also use the 55 & 60 for full shots.
Hey Greg, love the shaft comparison vids. Far and few and you’ve done an amazing job. Shaft wedges are often so overlooked and it’s still so much guesswork for many. Makes you wonder how much ‘spinner’ and ‘hi rev’ labels really hold value. In your opinion would swing weight be a bigger determining factor for one’s preference in a wedge shaft? After all wedge shots of all distances is ultimately ‘feel’. PS I think ball comparison is definitely something up your alley and to spruce up your video offerings too!
There’s a lot of factors when choosing a wedge shaft. Unfortunately most wedges are simply bought with the standard option and people never get to experience what could be. Swing weight will play a role, but total weight and how the shaft flexes will also play a massive role when it comes to feel. I have done some ball testing videos a while back, but maybe I’m due to do another one. Thanks for watching.
I also LOVE the Fuji Pro irons and just put the 95 Tour Spec S in my 4-P, now looking to do wedges. Considering using the 95 all the way, or maybe switching to the 115 like you tested here. Have you tried the Fuji MCI Wedge? How does it compare to the pro? Thanks! Keep the videos coming, I love your reviews!
I used to have the mci 105 solid wedge shafts in my bag but found they launched a little high for my liking. I’m now considering putting one back in my 60 degree wedge to increase spin because of this test. The mci has an amazing feel and the solid produces plenty of spin. Thanks for watching.
Hi SGT, just found your channel and love your work! My question is: I weigh about 60kg and 169cm in height. I find the 130g steel shaft to be quite heavy and it kind of hurts my left thumb a bit to swing a lot. I don't know if that is my grip problem but with that aside, what do you think are the best 110g-120g shaft out there that is the stiffest and lowest dispersion in your experience? I don't care if it is steel or graphite, just want something at that weight and has the stiffest tip.
I would say that the Project X LS 6.0 would have the stiffest tip at 120g. Thanks for watching.
Would the Standsrd Deviation mean the Spin Rates are overlapping a bit more than the average shows? Feel is everything with wedges - another great video 🙌🏻
There definitely will be some overlap, but it’s probably more to do with my strike. I think looking at my averages is the best indicator. I generally look at standard deviation in regards to strike, but also in regards to the quality of the shaft to produce consistent spin numbers. Feel is really important, but if the numbers are not right, it’s pointless. For example, I love the feel of a Pro V1, (far more than the X) but the spin is too low for me and it costs me shots playing that ball. Feel is nice, but I’ll take a number over feel all day.
just wondering, I snapped my shaft what should I do, the driver is a Nike Forged Titanium 10.5* Driver with Nike Regular Flex Graphite Shaft
I’d go to your local golf shop and see what they would recommend. Good chance it may need a regular shaft fitted also.

I play 95 gram regular iron shafts and I am coming to the conclusion S200 stock shafts do not work for me. I am lost as to what to look for in regards for my 54 & 60* wedges... I have been told to play they came shaft in wedge flex and I've been told to play heavier shafts. What is your opinion on this. for reference point I swing a 7 iron 75-80 mph. I was fitted by Titleist on the 150's for the 95G KBS tour lite regular flex shaft. Thank You
I think a good place to start would be 115g KBS hi rev in regular or maybe a modus 105 wedge shaft, depending on whether you would like more or less spin in your wedges.
@@SydneyGolfTech Hit the 60* out of the bunkers on my courses I play and utilize the face etc. have fairly high confidence with it. Rarely full steam. My 54 half and half. Half full steam and half 1/2 power…. Spin is always nice. Was looking at combo of the tour wedge (54 in R flex) and the hi rev for the 60*. You reckon 2 x hi rev would be ok? Can’t get the Modus 105 here alas in Canada. All completely sold out…. They look good…. I have the NS PRO 950 regular in my second set of irons. Nippon are FANTASTIC steel shafts. Very smooth. I've got some Callaway x forged wedges from 2007 52° 12° bounce and 56° 14° bounce with Project X rifle 6.0 flighted shafts. What would be a good replacement modern wedge for these as I'm struggling to find a replacement with the same loft and bounce.
Hard to go past a good set of custom built Fourteen wedges. They have plenty of bounce, more spin than any other wedge, and can be built with any shaft. 😀
