  • As a result of my successful iron shaft fitting I decided to return to the KBS Golf Experience facility in Carlsbad California and expand the process into wedge shafts.
    " Onion " Master Fitter David Anderson was back on hand to walk me through what he looks for not only in wedge shafts but also how the indoor wedge fitting process works.
    We worked through matching the set for full shots. What true wedge gapping should look like and call out numbers you should be aware of when going through an indoor fitting experience.
    Wedge spin control is crucial for success and we will also reveal what you should be looking for when it comes to the " right " yardage numbers and how you achieve them.
    Truly some of my most educational work and an eye opening experience even for me after 16 years fitting the games best players on the PGA Tour and other leading professional tours around the world.
    If you're interested in learning more about KBS golf shafts the website is below but perhaps more importantly you too can go through this experience with David yourself.
    Be sure to mention TrottieGolf and I'm sure the KBS crew will (maybe) jump you up the queue??........ We can but try :0)

    I like how he keeps you on track and on point. You have a tendency to wander and sway off subject. Because you are usually doing the analyzing on others and have to see all the variables. When you are under the gun and your fitter is trying to see what is best for you, he is doing it in his systematic way one step at a time and doing well keeping you focused and taking the steps he wants to see. Very interesting to watch.

      I agree. From GW down I don’t like taking more than a 3/4 swing. More controllable, and it doesn’t take a whole lot of yardage off anyway.

    • @Lefishn
      @Lefishn Рік тому

      Ok I've always hit my wedges full, 3/4 and half so why shouldn't people hit full?

    • @xBlade173
      @xBlade173 Рік тому +1

      Less control, and higher chance for a poor strike. You'd be better off just clubbing up. That's what teachers and pros advise. No reason to ego swing a wedge over ~80% basically.

    • @Lefishn
      @Lefishn Рік тому

      @Benjamin Gross its not ego swinging its having a consistent 100% swing with all clubs to have more accurate distances. If I swing 100% I know my max and won't go past it so my 60* is 83yards, 56 is 98 yards, 52 is 107, 48 is 120. To me just natural 100% swing just like every other club and all over the flag inside 140 so no idea where this 85% swing idea is way harder to accurately swing 85 than 100%

    • @xBlade173
      @xBlade173 Рік тому +1

      A smooth consistent swing is not your 100%. 100% is you swinging as hard as you can to muscle something farther than normal.

    I went to KBS experience for my very first fitting. Luckily, I got David, too. He was very knowledgeable and definitely an expert. He also sold me my one and only true putter. A L.A.B beauty. I've never put it down since. I recommend KBS especially if you use KBS shafts. I do not use KBS in any other club but irons and wedges. Highly recommend though.

    What a perfect video for me right now. I’ve been trying to dial in my gap wedge, not sure if I should get a p790 or stick with my 50 degree Cleveland wedge. I’m going to put an iron shaft in my Cleveland! No other person I’ve asked had this idea, as I mostly use it for full swing shots. Thanks again trottie!

  • @tacticaltruth8118

    Thanks for this video. This explains a lot. The fitter in this video said to go with a heavier shaft for wedges. Currently, with full shots my 48* specialty wedge (steel shaft 115g) goes consistently 5-10 yards longer than my set A-wedge 48* (graphite shaft 75 g regular). Would you think that this is due to the difference in shaft?

Taylor made was MG 4 54-11 and 58-08 with MMT 105 stiff. Mizuno was 54-08 nd 60-10 MMT 105 stiff with single soft step. Totally confused. I want to buy Taylor made. Help Trottie

      I think it gives you a great start point. I'm 3 rounds in & I like these wedges, if anything the 56 & 60 shafts felts thicker in the grip of the right hand initially but like all things you adapt.
      The intention of this vid was to show folks with the right guidance it can be done.
      Do I prefer outside and playing around with the bounce and lies, YES, BUT you have to remember the heads I've used before so this was purely a shaft project.

    LOVE your videos! I have a series question that need your advice.
    I am currently playing 1 degree flat and steel fiber CW 110 X flex. My prefer shot is a fade. Is it more easier to hit a fade being X flex or Stiff flex or Soften the tip? Please your advice!!!! I come from a Project X LZ 6.5 and for me it was easier to fade than now. I am plus 1 handicap so trust me if I want to hit fade I will, I just want it to be more natural. Why I changed shafts? Cause I have a problem on my left wrist.

    • @trottiegolf
      @trottiegolf  Рік тому +1

      Okay lotta stuff in this comment. So injury, that's first and foremost. If you're injured and the steel fiber helps then that has to be a good thing.
      +1 hcp so solid PLYR prolly delivering som nice club delivery numbers to get your fade. I don't think with how you're likely to be delivering the club (tough to be exact without seeing it) you need a softer tip.
      LZ - loading zone. In 6.5 isn't a monster shaft but then neither is steel fiber.
      Flex is such a personal thing and I don't have all your numbers but I'd be confident to see you in X flex over S for Steel Fiber and then will that fade more, well I think it'll be similar but over time if you have speed it'll be a tighter tolerance.

  • @chuckyz2
    @chuckyz2 Рік тому

    I like to hit full smooth shots when I can with 50 and 54. And even 60! The reason I would choose the 60 is the full shot is more reliable and predictable. The only time i would choose the So the L is reduce spin when ball is landing on a slight up slope and I don't want zing back off the green. So the club/shaft would have to get me the spin I need for that. If I am playing on hard greens, and need more spin, I would go with all out swing with the the shorter club. Throwing a chunk of course.
    I taught myself to fit myself and ended up with the same philosophy as your fitter. And my testing always happens on the course, on the greens I play. The results from testing dictated the method I landed on after a few years.
