REA #24 | Reduce Deceleration Popping | Royal Enfield Classic 500 Race Dynamics Powertronic & R-Tune

  • In this episode we learn how to use the Race Dynamics R-Tune Program and Powertronic piggy back ECU to remap my current map to reduce or stop the deceleration popping on my modified Royal Enfield Classic 500. This will work on Power Commander 5 or PCV and other piggy back ECU units and all fuel injected bikes running free flowing filters and exhausts.

    Hail fellow common wealther from the central interior of British Columbia.I love your series. Its absolutely brillant. I missed a bit from one of your vlogs, and I'm curious why you changed from K n N filter to the pod. I recently purchased a 2015 RE classic 500 in Desert Storm with 2,346 km on it. I haven't been able to test it out yet as we are still in late winter here but I have some planned mods guided by your series. I've a sourced a reasonably priced pea shooter free flow exhaust in black. I'll be putting a new paper filter and NGK plugs on it first. Then depending on its response, I'll likely get the Power Tronix ECU. Your instructions are comprehensive. Please keep up the good work it's greatly appreciated. I'm used older Japanese bikes inline 4's, twins etc. The RE off the get go seems way more basic and easy to work on. To my knowledge, my RE is the only one in our city. Maybe that'll change once I get it out and about. I'm also lucky as I have some Indo-Canadian friends who owned RE's back in India, who can give me additional input. Cheers

      @@iRidetas I've had the K n N in trucks before with good success. I wasn't sure how much better the K n N would be to paper stock. I've had pods before on carb bikes and had a lot of problems with jetting etc. I'll likely hold off for a bit and see how it goes stock for now and add my mods latter. Been my dream bike for 20 years now and I finally got my hands on one, so I'm pretty happy either way lol

    Great. I planned map this same solution, but in order to alter engine break, make it softer, also soften the instant off-throttle deaceleration.
    Nice to find your video, do you think it will work? also ignition?
    Thanks!

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas  3 роки тому

      EFI engines usually have a fuel cut off when engine breaking so not sure you are going to get the results you are after there mate. Engine breaking depends on several things but the RE is not a snatchy bike compared to others I've owned. The one issue it can have is if you snatch the throttle on and off to hard it can buck a bit. Just have to learn to roll on and off the throttle smoothly.

      They went EFI on the 500cc in 09 to purely adhere to Euro 3 standards. These days the newer models have better EFI to adhere to Euro 4 and I think 5.
      There’s talk now of discontinuing the 500 single for export, as the only way to adhere to the newer standards is to go water cooled for a more stable operating temperature that comes with liquid cooling. Allowing the engine to operate with more consistent fuel metering.
      This is also why the new BS6 Himalayan has two CAT converters. Near the engine on the header pipe is the new addition.

    Hi, new subscriber here, UK based Kiwi. Anyhow, is it safe to assume there is no air injection system on this bike? If there is you should disable it to reduce over-run popping. Same goes for your 865 Triumph ether carbed or EFI.

    • @iRidetas

      The 865cc is very stock as far as it goes so i wont be putting on on it as im not planing on moding it as such, but the enfield does have AIS and it can be deleted but its on the newer Euro 4 bikes and mines a Euro 3! Cheers and welcome aboard!

      @@scooobi34 I spoke with the guys at Powertronics to discuss the relay problem. The bike runs fine with the stock relays, but still cuts out in gear with the replacement relays (both of them). The engineers at Powertronics reckon I should just use the stock relays and be done with it. They also recommended keeping the stock coupler handy just in case. Overall I'm very happy with the Powertronics ECU. The 19 tooth sprocket stole a little from the low end, but the piggy-back ECU has now put that back. With a nice rich fuelling the engine is now very smooth and willing, even at highway speeds.

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas  2 роки тому

      Mate, I think youre on the wrong track! Engine breaking its at its greatest in higher rpm as it transfers more torque through the gearbox etc. This is at 0% throttle and insignificant increases in fueling.

    • @anbusivaram9245
      @anbusivaram9245 2 роки тому

      @@iRidetas Thank you for the quick reply. I never expected such a fast response. What I was trying to say is, suppose the bike is rolling down a hill. The throttle input is 0%, but the rpm will be let's say above 2000 rpm. But the fuel is still being squirted, won't that have any effect? I presume there will be spark from the spark plugs at 0% rpm. Won't that sustain combustion, which reduces engine braking ?

    • @anbusivaram9245

      That will be like promoting the rolling.

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas  2 роки тому

      I can't say it would it would be imo in an exaggerated way its more like a carby running a larger sized pilot jet and running richer, allowing it to warm-up quicker, run better an not pop, it is not so significant to be so rich as to flood, foul plugs, cause run on or pump so much unburned fuel it creates fumy emmisions. This injects a very small amount more fuel to richen the mixture to prevent the lean out and the pops. I think in short in what you are saying the bike will not run better it will run worse and spew unburned fuel not causing run on.
