Your lucky if you get it going, I bought a flood damaged 2019 SLC, I don't have a Ramp tried turning on the crank seized solid, put a cheap Amazon camera down the bores loads of corrosion and water, in the end I did a simple test, got a long BBQ skewer, put it down the 4 bores and it went in further in one bore more than the others which told me the conrod was bent, took the engine apart piston number one Conrod was bent like a banana still in the middle of rebuilding the engine, I wanted to save it as it's only done 15,000 miles
That's the last ford V8 that was made when Jag was owned by ford. I used to work for a company that used those engines to age catalysts for JLR. They used to drop valves all the time and they were hard to come by new in 2019 -20. We had to use recon ones once ford stopped supporting JAG. So not surprised you couldn't get bits 😂
It's the AJ-V8 Gen 3, based on the same AJ series V8 that was designed by Jaguar, it's not a Ford engine, although Ford used the second Gen AJ 4.0 in the LS and Thunderbird.
Dean…you are a brave man taking on so many jobs and all at the same time…you must keep each set of bits in different containers to stop them getting jumbled up! On the car, yes the engine is scrap but the body shut lines looked a bit random at the front as if the owner had powered into a flood at a fair speed and the water had pushed all the front valance and grille slightly backwards. When the engine is out, give everything a good check and see if it all aligns properly…you need a full respray going by your inspection so the repair margins are financially very close.😬😬Good luck! 😃😃😃😃😃
I have just rebuilt a Discovery Sport ingenium that took in water, it had bent a rod so bad the piston was wedged onto the crank which made it feel like it was seized, second hand rod, rings, bearings and chains and it's running great.
I came here from Mat Armstrong (found Mat from Freddy) and am now addicted to this channel. I'd like to see a rebuild of an older damaged Mercedes CLS 350 - it must be one of the most beautiful quick, large but practical cars around. I was looked after by JLR when the F-Type was launched, and I got a drive in it around an old RAF base. This is my “achievable dream” car, without a doubt.
That horrible rattle sounds like small end bearings. It quite possible someone started the engine with some cylinders full of water, which hydro-locked it. The engine was running on all cylinders so expect still enough compression left to run the damaged cylinders. The hydraulic lifters may also have been badly damaged. Without testing for oil pressure and compression test each cylinder, it’s difficult to be certain. It didn’t sound like big end bearings though, so could be a potential fix for someone. The engine was very tight at first due to the rust buildup on the cylinder walls where the water was still present-hence the explosion of rusty water when you cranked it over with the plugs out. A fun engine rebuild for someone !.
Great car Dean, please remember the air boxes they must be full of water. I'm sure you did it off camera. Don't want a repeat on the new engine. Keep up the good work

Great content Dean, I love to watch you porking about with high end motors. Bought my ticket! 🏎️
Dean, your channel is Brillant but my one criticism is it’s confusing what car your on, I get in to one car then another one pops in, then the first car isn’t seen for what seems months I know you’ve got to have content but this in turn for me anyway you lose interest 👍
@@stephendavies6080 unfortunately mate that’s what happens when your trying to fix a car live and trying to film it and have regular content. Absolutely impossible to have one car and expect to be able to film footage week after week with no issues.
Evo x fq360, hks engine built by hks as the test bed for the fq400, non bloody runner as it’s mine haha, good luck mate, love your vids
Cant be the only one screaming pyro fuse, well done, mate
Wasn’t in a crash so should be fine 😅
That's the mega fuse not a pyro fuse though, that will have blown due to the water in the cylinder causing the starter to draw too much current I'd imagine.
Very good looking car, beautiful in white.
Jlr service history is downloadable from the website you just need the vin 👍
I’ve a 1992 Yugo 45 here for your next project
Don’t need to pay for it, just come and get it
Great video as always Dean !
very sad
Seriously I would be really interested if Dean isn't pudding
@@Irritatedcodm wtf is pudding ????
@@ajw1467 his UA-cam username.....
Dean please do a video stripping that engine to see the damage caused
Dean LEXUS LFA Something different that hasn’t been done on UA-cam yet I don’t think and such a awesome sounding car too if that car is possible to get and if you can get it for the right price because it won’t be cheap haha keep up the good videos 👌
So close yet so far. I mean, it did run. Nice work so far
Shame the engine was toast, but I really enjoyed this one. Good luck Dean.
I sooooo need to win this car, I’ve dreamed of owning an f-type since they launched. Looking forward to see how it develops. Tickets brought, I’m all in
There is a wide body purple r8 v10 manual that needs the front end changing. Selling on Facebook all running for 19k
I'd love one of these, really great looking car
@savingsalvage that engine should be used on the frosties advert as its grrrrrrrr ate Hahaha
ASM are a fantastic breakers, very professional!
Yes they are!
It takes a long time to get parts for these cars, which is why he has so many projects. Just enjoy the videos, and your favorite car will be back soon!
Not usually a fan of Jaaaaags but this is a stunner
Great video, crazy that you can't buy pistons and con rods separate
Water on piston will bend con rods usually as cannot compress water.good luck.
Great car, love these Jaguars. Unfortunately I cant join the lottery because I am from the Netherlands. It looks difficult to work on, but if anyone can its you Dean ! Looking forward to the next video.
Sorry to hear that
Do the e tron. It’s fun learning something new and not giving up
Makes a nice change working on a jaaag 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Next one should be a classic mini from before 1992, not the biggest profit probably but a lot of fun and totally different from modern cars.
