- Hi, if your toilet flush valve is similar to the one shown in the video then you will see how easy they are to replace if your toilet is constantly flushing. If you only have a small amount of water letting by into the bowl then you may just have a bit of debris which can be easily cleaned, or it is easy to replace the rubber washer. My one in the video, must have been caused by scale build up from the hard water inside the flush valve so it was easier for me to just to replace it for under £10.
Many thanks Vince.
IMPORTANT! ive just had this problem and it was as simple as the button being twisted and misaligned causing it to get stuck. Simply unscrew the button and twist it until the plastic is aligned. It was that simple. Check this first. Please like to get this seen.
This worked thank you
This worked for me too thank you so much. I've lost so much sleep because the problem
Wow I did it! in my case it was a piece of plastic stuck .... thank you so much .....
I'm not sure what this meant but I removed the clip with the yellow wire attached from the flush button, then removed the cylinder that he replaced and put it back in the other way around so now the yellow wire is resting in the opposite side of my toilet cistern and it is working now.
It worked! Thank you so much 🤝
You're an absolute hero mate. You didn't rush, and explained everything so very clearly and didn't assume we already understood what you were saying. I followed your video exactly and now my leaky loo isn't so leaky haha. Subscribed
Thank you so much for posting this - it took me less than 5 minutes to fix my toilet and saved me nearly a £100 as I didn't have to call a pluber out. Much appreciated!
Can I just say how SUPER helpful this video was for me. I hardly have any plumbing experience whatsoever and my toilet was constantly flushing and just really irritating to deal with. Then I came across this video and it was PERFECT - not only were the dual flushing valves exactly the same as mine, but your steps were really clear and not details were missed out. I followed this video step by step and replaced the valve as recommended - and it works!!! So a HUGE thank you - it really helped me out & made my day!
I just solved my toilet constantly flushing issue by watching this video in 2 hours time instead of two days waiting for service ..thanks buddy...
I have the exact same problem-have had no problems with cistern in over 10 years. Thought it was a complicated issue replacing-thanks to your film I realise there’s less to it than an old style cistern. When I inspected the unit it was a Macdee the same as yours. Thanks for enlightening me!
I’d just like to take the time and say thank you, for one year our toilet was doing this. But you had to put your hand down and manually push the cut off. Plumbers told me I had to remove the whole toilet to change it. Till I found your video. Thanks again mate. I’ve just fixed mine. It’s changed our life’s ahahaha
This tutorial works. I fixed mine by cleaning the limescale under the tab. It took me only 1 min.
The problem mine had was with the lever that you pushed in at 2:11. It was getting stuck, and that meant that the valve wasn't dropping down again as it should. It is easy to dismantle the part that houses the lever - you just have to unscrew one screw - and then I cleaned off a small amount of limescale that was causing the lever to stick against the outside of the housing, following which it worked perfectly.
How did you remove the limescale?
@ I just scraped it off - there wasn’t much
Had same problem 5 minutes after plumber left my house on a Friday to return Monday to continue fitting new bathroom, problem being a tonne of muck making the button stick, removed yellow pipe, freed up button,. Now working. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO
Hi Vince many thanks for your very easy to understand instructions. You have presented your guidance instructions in a very simple clear and easy to understand manner. Thanks and keep well.
Thank you so much for making this video! As someone who loves fixing and doing DIY before spending money on a tradesman, these steps were easy to follow and saved me a whole lot of money. Thanks again
Vince, thanks so much for this! Completely new task for me but With your help, I've taken apart the cistern, soaked the lot for a couple of hours in white vinegar and replaced it all. Working perfectly. Delighted.
Thank the lord. I pushed down what you twisted off, and now we have peace. It was a bit leary watching the water come to level, I worried it wasn't going to stop rising!! We can now sleep in peace.
All was quiet earlier yet Boyfriend attempted a fix earlier but admitted defeat. Flushed before bed. Left it running. I don't know how he has slept, I couldn't let it run for another hour. Sometimes it takes a woman to get up middle of the night in a rage to sort it 😂😂 thank you for pointing out the parts and what they do 👍
I came here for the electronic repairs - but now have managed to fix my toilet also with the same issue!
Fantastic - thanks for the video.
Genuinely never done anything like in, lovely and simple, something was stuck stopping the gate to close, cleaned it, put it all back together sorted many thanks for the help
Thank you, I've just fixed mine.
I had no idea how to release the mechanism from the button until I saw your video. I just had to remove some debris from inside the box that the cable comes from.
Thanks for the double jab to stop it endlessly flushing -- wasting a huge amount of water -- while I figure out the rest. Hoping that a soaking of the valve in white vinegar (like a success reported below) will save me having to replace anything! Worth a try, at least.
Cheers. Simple explanation gave me the confidence to tackle the job myself. I'm not great at most DIY stuff but I'd go as far as to say, this was an easy job.
Great video, i put in a bleach toilet block in my cistern-it said dont unwrap it as the paper dissolves, well it didnt, some paper jammed up the valve. This video gave me confidence to have a go myself, thank you. ps.Your tank fills so fast! Amazing water pressure in your area.
Thank you! Just saved me a call out on a Saturday morning. I had a feeling to watch this one
Thanks a lot for that information. I took the whole lot out like you did in the first part of the video. Just turned it anti clockwise slightly and it lifts out. I then cleaned the bottom and checked the rubber washer. I put it back in and turned it hand tight and it works perfectly. Plumber wanted £90 just to look at it.
Good seeing u here! I Remember watching your console fix vide os, nis here, one of the best.
Just what I needed with a family of five, saved me having to remove whole concealed unit. THANK YOU!
Thank christ for this we couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong with the toilet this is exactly the problem. Cheers for explaining it so clearly im pretty sure i can fix it now.
Thank you so much I have just fixed my toilet with the help of my 10 year old son saving me the time, inconvenience and cost of a plumber.
Thank you so much, changed mine in 2 minutes and now have a fully working toilet again, bargain for under a tenner :)
Brilliant video - well explained and filmed. I had no idea the siphon could be removed so easily but it did, was easily cleaned and replaced. Problem solved, all in about 20 minutes! Many thanks for the video.
Thank you so much! Fixed my toilet because of this video, the seal was loose and needed re-seating back into the groove, all sorted :)
Thank you! Got the same model. You've helped this woman fix the loo 👍
THANKS for showing me how to get into this and fix it! It meant I did not have to chuck away the old valve or dismantle the toilet cistern :-)
Thank you so much for this. I was close to calling out a plumber to sort this out for me but after watching your video I can now actually do this for myself.
Bravo Sir👊🏼🙌🏽
Hi, thanks very much for putting up your video. I replaced mine exactly the way you showed and it only took me five minutes thanks to your video. 😁😎👍
You are one in a million . You should have your own TV channel Vince 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks you're a lifesaver (well maybe not literally but you know what I mean).
Previous owner had dropped one of those "save water" cistern bags that simply takes up space in the cistern, reducing the amount of water it can hold. Part of the bag at the bottom had got itself stuck in the valve. Funny thing is I've lived here for 2 and a half years now and it's never been an issue before, but after taking it apart you could see clearly that was the offending item. Removed it and everything is fine again now.
Vince great video I fixed my non stop flushing loo in minutes. keep up the good work thanks again.
Thanks for this I have the exact same issue and your video was the only one that had the same parts and issue to the letter, I kept thinking it was the pipe being too twisted inside the basin because as soon as I lifted the top it was suddenly fixed until I closed it then the issue would reoccur
Thanks so much , I'm not handy in any way but decided to give this ago as u made it look easy . I can cancel the plumber as I'm officially a handy man 😂 work a treat , needed a good clean now working like it should . Much appreciated 👍
Best video I've seen on this issue. Managed to finally resolve it (fingers crossed). Thanks, Vince!
thanks for Video, i tried this and it saved me calling out plumber for a simple job..not to mention the cost...
Couldn’t get my canister bit out.... rotated, jammed, worried I’d snap something. Your vid gave me confidence to give it a bit more welly, twist hard and brill, came out. Hard water area and despite water softener it was caked up with limescale so, replaced. Thanks for your vid, it really helped.
Excellent video. Just saved a bomb paying for an emergency plumber. Easy to follow. Easy to recreate. Thanks so much - sorted!
So helpful! Thank you very much for this. I removed the part and gave it a good clean as some scaling was preventing the disc and washer section from falling. 10/10
Thanks, used your advice to sort out the running flush in my caravan!👍
Thanks a lot for the easy to follow tutorial. Hopefully that sorts it out for me.
Btw, maybe its because I’m a complete diy noob, but you identifying the wrong part as being from a radiator I found most impressive!
thanks my son lives in a hard water part of the UK got the problem when he moved into a new house not a hard job to fix now you shown me
You are a life saver.. Thank you very much for the free knowledge.
Spot advice dude!! Really appreciate how easy and straightforward you made the vid. Thank you!!
Brilliant, thank you, saved me at least £70. One happy lady
Thanks for this! Every video I've watched so far goes through replacing the whole lot included in the kit you bought. However, in my situation I think the bit that is broken is the bit that attaches to the back of the flush button and has the cable coming out of it. I have an in-built toilet so replacing the whole lot would be very challenging, so it's good to see that you can easily replace just part of the kit instead of using the whole thing.
thats why i love the internet 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thanx mate
Keep up the good tutorials my mate vince:)
My mate Vince must be sick .. This is a good way to flush his system out!!
Very helpful. My toilet did this and had no idea how to take out the top.
Thank you a million mate. Just went screwfix bought a standard one for £13 works brilliantly all thanks to your video 👍
Thanks! Most useful. Stopped me having to call the landlord out again!
Thanks Vince step by step simply and clear 👌
This is such a great video, thanks very much. It took 5 min to fix my toilet 👍
Thanks a lot for making this video it has served me money.
Many thanks this video, good instructions , saved some money , good job
Great Video and explanation. Worth putting up with the annoying adverts for :)
I just took the little plastic box thing off and reseated it, It seems to have fixed it cheers!
Thanks for the video mate, mine was that tight I wasn't sure if it came off or not, didn't want to force too much, but watching this I knew it did and managed to get it off ok. Mine is exactly the same.. Thanks
TD in the process of taking mine out at the moment. How tight was yours in place ? Mine seems very tight after the slight turn still doesn’t seem to want to pull out? Also worried about breaking something!
Hi Sam, once I knew exactly what to do it wasnt that tight at all.
@@SamJRobson hi Sam did you manage to get yours off? I've twisted mine but like you it still won't pull up . Did you have any joy in the end?
@@Quackinator12Guage I sure did. I found a bit of a wiggle whilst twisting and pulling up did the trick. I expect mine was a bit stiff due to some build up. Hope this helps. Good luck !
@@Quackinator12Guage I'm having the same issue. I can't even twist mine, it seems stuck. Did you resolve the issue?
Thank you very much Vince, my toilet is now fully functional.
That's so true about people round who leave it down. And it is aggravating😁 nice vid.
Thanks for the video, just have one question.....What is the lead from the push button, and how does it work, please?
Yessss this worked for me and it's the exact same model. Is there a link for this item please? I'll get this toilet fixed before my hubby 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video by the way. I'm clueless at all this. I've checked screwfix and they don't have this...what's it's official name so I can search...our loo is constantly flushing unless manually worked on
Excellent video with easy step by step explanations. The lever in my remote actuator does not return sometimes which keeps the water flowing. Once push it with a screwdriver or a pen, then it returns to normal position and there is no leakage in the bowl.
Will I need to change the full system or can the lever be fixed? Thanks
I don't even have that toilet (or cate about repairing mine at the moment) but your videos are just really entertaining xd
Very informative, hope to mend my toilet myself now, thank you 😊
Thanks, that has now shown me how I can change this without paying fortunes for a plumber as mine has the same problem at the moment, now off to tool station tomorrow 😉😉 wish me luck 😂
Well I changed this part and my toilet is now working properly, turned out to be a two minute job, yay, thanks for the video without the video and no instructions in the box I would still be looking for so thanks
Thanks for explaining :) .. I fixed my home toilet :)
Yay thanks so much for your video I followed your clear instructions and fixed my toilet very happy thanks ever so much 😀
Thanks alot it's was empty toothpaste in it stuck in it ....from two days it was worst flushing ......it worked
Thank you for making this video, I've just replaced mine just exactly as you've done. I was able to drive down the road to screwfix who had a like for like and replace it all within the hour. There's still a lot of water going in to the overflow before it shuts up, is there any way to reduce the amount of water it fill up with?
Thanks a lot just used this video and same method, just in time for xmas. Parts if you need to know Manufacturer ID DVA0100 which seems to be new version (grey) of the MacDee AFV50100/AFv50200. Just plugged in the same
Brilliant, ours has been like that for the past few years, now I hope I'll be able to fix it.
Are these flush valves a 'fit all' toilet cistern style (generic)?
I have the AFV50100 looks similar to the one in this video but I could not remove it like what you did. I twisted (left or right) but I could not lift it up.
Too late for you probably, but in case it helps someone else, I had to give it quite a lot of force anti-clockwise to get it to "un-click". More force than shown in the video anyway.
thanks , helped me to take apart this piece , I was pulling it like fool , spent 30 minutes 😳 !
This is so helpful, my cistern seems to be exactly the same but the button is broken completely. I can unscrew the cistern like you have done and just need a direct replacement as it seems a straight forward job to do. I have the MacDee AFV40100/AFV401200. As this is discontinued would you know a direct replacement for this? Thanks for the video for helpful!!
Great video I'm having the same issues I didn't know what's need doing/changing I'm gonna do the same its wasting lots of water in last couple of day thank u buddy...👍
If that was another brand like fliudmaster and you have a dudley will it be competable to just do what you done
This helped us just now, thank you.
I am trying to fix one behind a tiled panel which is a bit awkward to get at. I have tried turning both ways, but it won't budge. Any ideas please. I have read that they can turn in either direction which doesn't help. I did think of putting washing up liquid in the water overnight to dislodge any gunge.
Does the model number have to be the same? I managed to find the same brand, but the model is discontinued.
Good video but you dint emphasise on how to determine the size of the flush valve before buying one. Thank you
Thanks for your time listing this. F. A. B. video, we had same prob. All done and fixed. £10 .51. Tool Station. Jan2020.
Thanks Man, Its was really helpful.
I started having the same problem today. However, the issue seems to be with the valve that is linked to the main, i.e., the device next to the one you showed here. No idea how to fix it... Any tutorial available?
Thanks a lot for uploading this :)
Legend, saved me some dosh there, and an ear bashing from the Mrs! Cheers for the vid!
thanks im now toilet expert!
U sa best Vince!
We have a similar toilet as the one in your video but the flush button is stuck in. How do you fix that?
Excellent to the point and time saving video 10/10
very nice, good explanation
Thank goodness for UA-cam 😂😂👏👏👏
Great video. Very helpful
Thank you so much! Just fixed mine thanks to your excellent video.
