- Make Moisturizing Body Butter Solid Scrub Bars! DIY Lush SCRUBEE Bar! Learn how to make Lush’s famous scrubee bar! The scrubee is a very luxurious, butter-rich, moisturizing, & exfoliating solid body scrub bar. If you’re familiar with lush’s scrubee, this is going to feel exactly the same!
RECIPE: 120 grams butter (I used 60 grams cocoa butter, 30 grams Shea butter, 30 grams kokum butter), 10 grams beeswax, 30 grams emulsifying wax, 60 grams melt & pour soap base, 3 tablespoons exfoliant, & 15 milliliters fragrance oil * Cool mix to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius) before adding fragrance oil. Don’t be afraid to tweak the recipe to get exactly what you want! For example: If you want your scrubee to be more buttery & moisturizing, add less soap/wax OR add more butter. If you want it to be more exfoliating, add more walnut shells, or consider using a more exfoliating ingredient (sugar/salt). *** Don't burn soap, if you do - it’ll become gummy & very hard to work with! LINES/PATTERNS: Lush's scrubee has 3 distinct lines, where the exfoliant is peeking through. Pour a bit of melted mix in mold & wait until initial layer cools to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius), then carve out whichever pattern or shape that you want! {Get creative here & let your imagination run wild! It is very easy to re-do if you mess up!} EXFOLIANT: I chose walnut shells simply because it looks like the scrubee bar. {But, you can use sugar, salt, crushed red beans, walnut shells, coffee grounds, ammonium oxide crystals, pumice, etc.} MOLDING: Allow mix to cool & thicken a bit before pouring in mold. {If not, this will melt the layer with designs & the exfoliant will sink to the bottom.} NOTE: Once mix starts to thicken & become gel-like, it cools & hardens VERY quickly after that! Sudsy Scrubee: If you want suds with your scrubee, simply chop up a bar of soap & fill the mold with it. Then pour the buttery mix over it. CURE: Freeze bars for about 20 minutes so they cool & harden & they should pop right out of the mold! NOTE: I made 2 tutorials & ended up changing the recipe a bit so if the ingredients in the video don’t look quite right- this is why. Just follow the recipe & you’ll get an exact replica of the scrubee bar that lush sells! By the way, I got the recipe perfect on the 3rd try! For some reason, for me, the 3rd time is ALWAYS the charm! RESULTS: This recipe yields exactly 4 round scrubees & will give you Lush’s famous scrubee - PERIOD! So, if you love their scrubee, you’ll LOVE this recipe!!! Happy scrubee-making!

Thank you for sharing can’t wait to try
Wow! You replicated this so fast! Looks great! I like the sudsy version too. Can’t wait to make it! Thank you so much 🤗
🥳
I love this! It’s my favorite item from them! Thank you ❤️
Awe! So glad! You’re so welcome!
Came out perfect. Love your channel.
Awe thanks!!! 😘
Another amazing video. I can’t wait to try this myself. I have everything but the kokoum butter and the walnut shells. The ground up red beans is a nice SELA touch.
Awesome! You can try it now! You don’t have to have KOKUM butter (use more cocoa butter or a different butter) or the walnut shells- (use a different exfoliant that you already have)!
I'm new, and really enjoying your channel. I can't wait to try some of your recipes...everything you do is lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Welcome girl! So glad to have you! & thanks so much! Creating all this stuff is a passion & I LOVE it!
What is the fragrance you use to duplicate the scrubee fragrance. It’s the best part for me!
WOW….!!! You Are My New HERO!! I LOVED THIS VIDEO & THE RESULTS!! I Love You, THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this video, I used to buy the scrubee & it gets expensive along with other products! They just raised a couple of prices on a few of my favorites, I love them but they go so fast!!! The rising prices were draining my Savings, But NOW I’ve Made my own & SAVED A BUNCH! I love it, TRULY & like yours Better! I Can’t Thank you Enough, Your The BEST!!! Any other Products you Think you could Show us? I Can’t Live without my Staple the “RO’s ARGAN BODY BUTTER BAR” any way you could show us that one? I’ve also used the “KING of SKIN”, but that one isn’t as easy to go on as the RO’s. PLEASE 🙏🏼 if you do another, Could you do the RO’s?!
I’m so excited I’ve found your channel & look forward to trying everything you put out!!
I’m sorry I didn’t take any pictures of my Scrubee project ( Honestly I didn’t even think I’d be able to do it) but now that I know I can, next time I Will take pictures!
Your instructions are perfect & easy to follow! Also, Where do you source your ingredients? I went through “www.bulkapothecary.com” Because they claim to be the best priced out there, I didn’t search a lot except Amazon & they were better than that site so I went with them, but if you know of a better site, please let us know?
I Look forward to all your future videos! Thank you again!!🫶🏻
This looks soo beautiful
Thanks!
I will be trying this scrubber bar
great job! looks like a fun project
😘
love it! I make cold process soap but i started out with melt an pour! I put my melt an pour in the microwave for 30 sec at a time until fully melted. If you are using a small amount of m&p then put it in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Using a double boiler may be tricky if your melting the M&P soap with butters. You can try slowly melt the soap by itself and the great thing about m&p is you can always remelt if it hardens up on you.
I really appreciate it! Believe me, ive tried all that & more! It just never works!! I was starting to think maybe it’s the MP soap base..!?!? I don’t know! I’m so busy with other projects thank God, otherwise I’d just fixate on it like I normally do!
You are the best! I can’t believe how quickly you turned this video out.
I haven’t even watched it all yet
Lol. Well, it was really easy, esp compared to some other projects!!
@@CreativeBathLab I’m trying to gather items to test this out. Is there a special type of emulsifying wax that’s best? Seems like there are so many options
Hey hun, don’t know which 1 is best, I’ve only ever bought the 1… it’s listed btw in the description!
Good luck! Well… you won’t need it bc my recipe is perfect! lol just have fun w it & get creative!
@@CreativeBathLab I appreciate it! I’ll use what I can find and see how it turns out and let you know.
I don’t have any social media accounts so I can’t post what I make that is inspired by you but thank you for all the help
Love this!
Thanks!
Marvelous! 🥰😍
😊
I am new! Love it ! Many thanks 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Great job!
🤗
god this is amazing, cant wait to try this
🥰
I made this today…first try was a fail - the stripes didn’t show and the ground walnut shells was way to hard for me…second try I made solid bars with brown sugar and/or cane sugar and was very pleased! Thank you for sharing!
Love it! I would love to see what you would do with the ground red beans.
Thank you! Funny you should ask. I made 2 tutorials & in the first one I put the ground red beans in the scrubee! They’re an awesome exfoliant… just a bit more abrasive than ground walnut shells
Thanks!
Thanks so much Deandra! I appreciate your support!!!!
Yes, I like the soap one the best also. I have got to get bust I still haven't made my grandson his BB Bomb yet. I wanna make a few of these for myself and my kids. But you know me I will maybe one of these yrs. LOL Thank you
Bubble bath bombs? I’ll send you some! I’m about to do the sweepstakes giveaway & when I do, I’ll send you some! Which colors?
I have been stalking your channel for a few months now and love, love, love it. I have found it the best help in my bath & body product journey. I don't have solid castile soap, only liquid. Is there anything else I could use?
Awesome! Love to hear that. Try a regular bar of soap. Don’t see why that wouldn’t work!
Just came across your channel and tried out this recipe. I love the ingredients is and it’s been drying for a while but it seems to be really really soft any suggestions on what I can do to harden the bar? Thank you so much for all these amazing videos two thumbs up
Add more wax!
Hi I'm dying to try this out thanks for sharing but will be trying it with brown sugar as I cant seem to get the ground walnut shells here in the UK. What I can get says not for cosmetic use so I guess brown sugar will do. Love your channels as well.
Oh great! Thanks so much! Love hearing from other countries, always a pleasure! Brown sugar will do just fine! 😉 happy scrubee-making!
Can I use regular foaming soap base? I do not have melt and pour soap and have never worked with it before.
I was wondering if you could give me a idea for a preservative for this product?
What fragrance oil are you using? There's no link in your list. I'm new to this so i dont know were or what fragrance to get. Thanks!
Every one chooses the ingredients. Me I don’t use the walnut crumbs because are to for skin and can cause irritation or infection
Thank youuuu!!! Xoxoxox
My pleasure!
Surprisingly enough, I suck at melt and pour too. I find Dr. Adorable to be the best to work with and it's more natural than others. I feel that you can't use it in small amounts. Which is what I do and which is why I always overheat it too lol.
Lol! I’ve been getting a bit more patient with it but I’ve had a project/tutorial I’ve BEEN wanting to share. I must’ve filmed it at least 4 times now, not exaggerating. & I F’n ruin it EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! I think you’re right tho- small batches do much better!!
@@CreativeBathLab for me it does not work in small batches. It gets too hot. I also don't own a microwave but everyone I see who is successful with it melts it in the microwave in 30 second increments
@@AGee2217 Microwave NEVER works for me!
Ooooo im gonna do this project todayeeee!!🛀🍮..im gonna try it with brown sugar n vanilla bean powder with a yummy coffee vanilla blend!!💥
Oh yeaayyy! That sounds wonderful btw! I actually used similar FO; vanilla musk, vanilla lace, & warm vanilla sugar! Happy scrubee-making
I want to do it right now. What is emulsifying wax? International name.
Could I use pure Castile Liquid Soap for this recipe?
Have you made their body wash that is like a firm marshmallow?
Emülsified wax ( INCI NAME?) Thank you very much
is soap a most ?
I made this and it was sticky. I have a skin care company so I had all the ingredients on hand. I did add about one tablespoon of honey. I use honey a lot so I know it isn’t the culprit. It is in Lush’s recipe. I remelted the bars and added more cocoa butter and a bit more beeswax. They are in the freezer now. We will see.
I didn't have a problem with stickiness. Sorry you are having issues. I hope they turn out great!
Adding honey powder instead of honey probably would have helped with the stickiness.
I’m wondering if honey in powder form may work better.
💕✨So pretty✨💕
Thanks so much!
ive tried it and i love it. i noticed my oils were seperating though! do you have any advice?
Great! Oh no- That’s never happened to me. Maybe try a little bit of an emulsifier?
@@CreativeBathLab Thanks for your reply. I used polawax emulsion but it still happened. I upped the soap factor to 90 grams and melted it within the mixture, is this okay to do? also i have cetyl alchohol and stearic acid, i could possibly use these for the emulsion/? thank you
You lost me Alex. lol the only 1 I know anything about is steric acid…. What’s confusing is how/why you’re having all these issues. Can you give me the current recipe you’re using? Perhaps I can find the issue.
I love your work :-) i want to add foam to it, can i use coco betaine or slsa?
Thanks
Thanks so much! I don't see why not.
@@CreativeBathLab in what ratio?
I added 5 grams and got a little foam, do you have any idea how much can be added based on the oils?
Hey sweetie, I’m not sure. When I get a chance I’ll try to formulate something for you. For the time being, try experimenting!
@@CreativeBathLab thank for your time and the inspiration, your recipes are always unique.
I have everything but the emulsifying wax. Can I increase the beeswax or is there another sub you recommend?
I wouldn't recommend that, but you can definitely try it! Beeswax hardens & the Emulsifying waxes keep products from separating, thickens, hardens, emulsifies, & stabilizes. Some of these include Stearic acid, Emulsifying wax, Pola wax, Cetyl alcohol, Cetearyl alcohol, Montanova (Cetearyl alcohol + cetearyl glucoside), Chemconx creamblend 20 (Cetearyl alcohol + ceteareth 20), & peg-100 (+ clyceryl stearate)
Liquid thickeners: Glyceryl caprate, Cc sepgel 305, & Sodium lactate
I just made this and my oils kept separating. It almost seemed like it also curdled. I followed the recipe exactly as you have it. Any advice???
No. I have no clue why that would happen!
Nice job, so this product at lush is about 11.00 to ship its about 5.95 so almost 17.00, what was the total amount you spent not on molds but listed ingredients and how many did it make. Do you have product testers who said it's identical. This is a favorite product of mine but expensive.
I am the product tester. In my opinion it was the exact same. I'm not allowed to say prices because Amazon has a policy about that (has to do with their prices changing so often). & I'm sorry I don't remember how many it made. I've been trying to remember that.
@@CreativeBathLab thank you kindly
Oh, it's on.
Lol
Do these bars make the tub slippery without polysorbate 80? I tried an exfoliating bar from another creator, and it was a hot mess!
I wondered that too. Don't see why you couldn't add poly 80???
@@tumagirl I agree. I don't think I'd ever make something to use in the tub and shower again without poly 80, if it includes oils and micas 🎄 happy holidays! 🎄
Great video. Can this be used on the face.
Thanks. I suppose, but this is very oily. The "soapy" one would be better. I always use apricot scrub on my face (love that stuff) & the walnut shells is very similar in texture so Id say yes
Thanks for your prompt response. This has really helped me, thanks once again and keep being a blessing to us.
No problem
Can I substitute cocoa butter for mango butter?
yep
How much would it cost to make this? Thank you 😊
I'm sorry, but I have no idea! lol You're more than welcome to go in description & hit on every link & add it all up tho! Amazon has a policy/rule that states I can't state item's prices anyways (because their prices always change).
I don’t remember it being soapy at all though
What about pereservative if i want to sell it???
Optiphen
Can we use this soap on face?
I don’t c why not
What fragrance oil did you use?
I used a combo of vanilla lace, vanilla musk, & warm vanilla sugar!
@@CreativeBathLab perfect I will have to order those. I think I only have cherry vanilla and cranberry spice right now
Yea anything milk, honey, vanilla would suit this project better, but your fragrances would work just fine, too! Btw: I ordered my FO from theflamingcandle & rusticesentuals! 😉
I made these for the first time and they came out pretty good but the only thing is that they feel very oily is that the way it is supposed to be? And did you seal wrap them?
Yes. Very oily- just like lush’s scrubee. This is why I don’t really care for them. I added soap to 1 in the video & it helped a lot with the oily. I only made this because it was a requested video. I actually threw my original scrubee from Lush away. I couldn’t stand how oily it was. And, the oil residue was so hard to get off. With all that said, a lot of people actually like this product. It’s one of Lush’s best seller.
Scubee isn't supposed to be a soap or just a scrub bar. It's a body conditioner first and foremost. And body conditioners are oily because the point is that your skin stays a bit oily after you're done with the bathing process :) So yes, you succeeded 100%! And if you don't want a body conditioner then the recipe is hard to adjust, better look for another one
I bought some sugar scrub awhile ago and it left this oily like waxy residue on my skin, I was like ewwwe...lol
I feel the same way! I don't like any residue left after a scrub. I purchased Lush's scrubee bar (this thing), used it once, & it went right into the trash. Oddly enough a LOT of people LOVE this thing. To each their own!
Does this smell like the scrubee
I don’t think… I don’t remember.
This looks so difficult to do
Omg so NOT! Not exaggerating- probably 1 of the easiest projects I’ve ever done!
Thanks!
Thanks so much 4 ur support!
