How To Make Your Own Whipped Soap Base From Scratch!

  • DIY Foaming Bath Butter, Whipped Soap Base FROM SCRATCH! FULL RECIPE! This stuff is amazing! It's a light fluffy soap! And, you can use it to suspend exfoliants in as well (sugar, pumice, coffee, etc.). You can create so many different types of scrubs; choices are endless!
    RECIPE: 5 ounces purified water, 5 ounces glycerin, 3.5 ounces coco betaine, 1.5 ounces steric acid, 8 ounces sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (or sodium lauryl sulfate, or sodium cocoyl isethionate), & 3 grams preservative. I used optiphen for this project, however since this tutorial I have learned that a better choice is germall plus (linked). The rest of the ingredients (exfoliants, oil/butter, & fragrance oil) are optional. Once the first 5 ingredients have been mixed together, heat mixture so that ingredients sufficiently melt & blend together (microwaving for 5 minutes is easiest). After heating, the soap mixture should be smooth & grit-free. Check for grit by rubbing some of the mix between your fingers- (where gloves). If it still feels gritty, place it back in microwave for 2 minutes at a time, stirring after each session until it is grit-free! Cool soap mixture to cooler than 140 degrees, then add a preservative. Cool & harden soap fully (like Shea/Cocoa butter) before whipping it. You can leave it set over night, place it in fridge, or use an ice bath! SAVE SOME! This made a big batch, so only use the amount that you need. Store the rest in a container. It stores up to a year Then take some out & whip it good -about 10 minutes. Once soap mix is fluffy thick & stiff - it is done. ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS: You can add 1 ounce of fragrance oil to the recipe (I used a small fraction of recipe, so I added 2 teaspoons). You can also add oil/butter to this recipe; if using butter, melt & cool to room temperature before adding to soap! EXFOLIANT: Add the exfoliant slowly (little by little) until desired consistency is reached. WHIPPING ISSUES: I had some issues in the whipping phase; soap wasn’t getting stiff. I added 1 tablespoon of corn starch at a time, probably 3 times, & the soap whipped right up! However, this was around the time I added sugar, too... So, I don’t know if it was the starch, the sugar, or plain old whipping, or a combo of all of them that finally did the trick, but I finally got it to fluff up & stay stiff! COLOR: Divide soap into as many colors that you want. Add color to each (any type), then put all of them in a piping bag for beautiful & colorful soap swirls! RESULTS: The soap stays whipped up, in position no matter how long it sits. If left uncovered the soap will be still usable, just a little stale on the outer edges. *** I used mason jars, but others (linked below) work much better & have dome lids.

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much. With mixers (as with most things in life) you get what you pay for. Not saying (or recommending) to buy a 400$ mixer for one project. The cheaper ones will get the job done as well. For me personally, a big deal is if the arm lifts up. I got the most expensive kitchenaid & hated it because the arm didn't lift up. The bowl went up & down to meet the mixer/arm. Besides that, just make sure it has a paddle & a whisking attachment & you should be covered.

      Sorry to heart that. It shrunk? My only guess would be that it dried out a bit? Or maybe it deflated some kind of way.... Im not sure

    I have one question 😅 I made this and it was awesome, but upon settling I noticed there are little white granules in the soap. I poked and prodded at them because I thought they were stearic acid but they have no texture. What do you think I did wrong?

    • @CreativeBathLab
      @CreativeBathLab  3 роки тому +2

      The only thing (that I know of) that it could be is the steric acid. After microwaving, you must check that there are no granules or grit left bf moving on to next step!

      @@CreativeBathLab I was wondering just because they have a huge difference at their price. Also I noticed that almost every mica colour that you use in your recipies is "currently unavailable'' at Amazon. Do you know where else can we find them? Your patterns are amazing
