not hard to optimize for the steam deck (and can be used on PC).
Hard to see why one would sink development costs into VR games when its niche and doesnt promise easy returns
@@Lonlyguarder My dude really said price & ease of use lol. The Quest 2 is $249, the Quest 3 & PSVR are at $500. The baseline OLED Deck is at $549. In terms of ease of use, when I tried to show it to a friend who was thinking of getting one, it failed to launch games (still is actually. All the inconsistency of a pc, but on the go, yay).
To put the numbers into perspective, Valve determined it "wasn't worth" keeping Mac compatibility for CS2 because of the percentage of players on macOS. And yet, from Steam's own charts, the Deck is a lower percentage than the number of mac users. So yeah, it's a *little* hard to see why there's such an outcry against certain platforms, but then when the Deck is in the mix, it's a party xD
@@Rocksteady72a You are half right but in the long term the tech used on Deck will mean that games on STEAM will have Unix implementation and support which will let gamers move out from the stranglehold microsoft has on on our asses which is a good thing. If only Nvidia followed suit.
Sure, Mac users might be more, but they aren't buying as many games compared to deck users. Deck is likely more profitable than Mac.

Excited to see this game is alive! I've played through this many times, just recently on my modded steam deck so I'm excited to give this a go. Would love to see an xbox port if at all possible but I know that's asking a lot.

Holy damn, time to finish my Distance playthrough on my Steam Deck, then. Plays excellent on SD even prior this patch. Since youre doing this showcase of maps. Im looking for a map that forces you to do tricks, in order to recharge boost/flight and get through a section. Ive had really hard time finding those, but those maps that Id played and had had that always made me super excited.
Most the ones that require tricks for cooldown aren't regular maps. Typically regular maps where you follow the track will manage your cooldown for you with stuff like wallrides and proper cooling ring placement. Harder air control maps though, like gripflight stuff, tend to have a lot more required tricks for cooldowns in order to pass certain gaps or whatnot. You can also go off the main track on any map and use buildings and such to make your own faster routes to get to the end, and that kind of thing nearly always requires manually managing your cooldown with tricks.
@@Californ1a I know. I have played Distance a lot before. But I can't find the maps like that anymore in the workshop.
@@Blackerer If you go to Distance's Steam Discussions and click the very first pinned one ("Community Resources"), you can find the "Gripflight Maps Collection" made by me and the version 2 of that collection made by Predatory Balloon. They're listed under the "Mechnics/Controls Guides" section in that thread. Both those collections have a bunch of maps where you have to manage cooldown (just avoid any maps named "boat", those are a bit different).
That thread also has a ton of other useful stuff in it as well.

@singularityraptor4022 Only jordan is left. He is currently doing all of this on his own. (PS4 and 5 release aswell) He is also planning on making something he teased as "project 2". Jordan is still active on the Discord.
