@@teodoricusslack4524 beatblock was originally a playdate project! we were never able to push it to completion there due to hardware limitations with playdate's refresh rate ( T T )=)

They turned Undyne's boss fight into a game
I’ve had exactly what this game is as an idea in my head for a few years I’m glad to see someone make a game like this
This feels a lot like a part of Gitaroo Man gameplay where you aim the stick at the right direction

AAAAAAAAAAA this reminds me of a tiny game series I made back on Scratch as a kid except it’s a rhythm game and WAAAAY cooler!!! Looking forward to this :)

@@clutteryguy9747 our demo is on itch.io, if you prefer that! updates will be a little behind the steam demo, but we aim to have update parity and an eventual full release available there as well

i played the demo and the game is amazing. The demo had a huge difficulty spike but im sure that's just because it's a demo (and probably because im not that good, especially on the corner notes). Great songs and great gamplay!
@@clutteryguy9747 we're happy you enjoyed it! the demo's difficulty spike is unfortunately steep due to its scope, and we plan to have the full release be better-paced ^^

@@BeatblockGamealso i have a suggestion: maybe implementing a way to stabalize your mouse a bit more could be good. Unless you want to make it more of a skill thing. From my experience, on one of my attempts on the last level of the demo i accidentaly moved the game screen (though that could be neglected if in the future you are able to play fullscreen). Just a suggestion though :)
@@clutteryguy9747 we currently have a circle snap option for mouse controls that prevents cursor drift! our newest update also has an option for fullscreen, but is rough around the edges- we're working on smoothing it out!

this is a great game so far, but there *needs* to be a "lock cursor to screen" kinda option, because i keep accidentilly moving my mouse off of the screen, causing the paddle to not move and making me miss lol
so other than that one gripe, amazing game!
Wishlisted because of DS look and epic gameplay.

an early version of our editor is in the demo right now on steam and itch!! it's not super user-friendly right now, but we'll be working on polishing it up as development continues ^^

small update on that: trying to reverse engineer how the levels were made to figure out how to make one (its not going well)
update on the update: ive managed to get to the "oh no the game broke" screen i have no idea what im even doing BUT I THINK THIS MAY BE PROGRESS!!!
yet another update: i think it might be because the song is Super Mario Sunshine - Delfino Plaza, but it never begins (30 minutes) in its properties but called "god" as the file... but its reading whatever song i put in it yet not loading it soo..

an early version of our level editor is available for you to try out in the demo! steam workshop support is something we're considering as well ^^

of course! our current demo already has an early version of our level editor and a custom level select (unless you're on mac. imgui issues my beloathed)

@@PG_14 not quite yet! we'd like to focus on finishing our PC release first, but with the amount of interest we've seen in a mobile port we'll definitely consider it ^^

I played the demo and while really good, I found slides and taps to be quite annoying and intrusive, overall just making the game a lot less fun than it could've been. I still definitely recommend the demo, but if you aren't good with overstimulation, maybe stray away from the last two levels

I think it's fair of me - one of the developers of osu's version of tau - to elaborate on a key point.
I myself had no part in helping with beatblock's backend code, what they are referring to however is the original developers that osu tau was based upon helped work on this game. Under osu's version of tau's GitHub read-me, this has been explicitly stated with links to the original game and one of the developers.
All in all, I'm very happy and excited to see Beatblock getting a demo and got a listing on steam, and hope all the best for the future of the game.

I assume this is played on a controller's joystick? how would this game work with keyboard and mouse, if at all?
with mouse, the paddle follows your cursor! accessibility is something we'd like to prioritize, so we have multiple control schemes available
@@BeatblockGame is your mouse locked and it goes in the direction you move your mouse or do you use your mouse like normal? a basic A and D control would be nice too if you want more control schemes
@@Zoiler we have the normal mouse scheme and a circle snap option currently implemented! the team looked at keyboard controls with WASD/arrows but decided it wasn't as fun to play with. thank you for the inquiry!

@@sniffxy not right now, unfortunately- the dev team hasn't figured out a good control scheme for mobile users yet that feels the same as the PC build. for now we'll be focusing on our windows, mac, and linux versions!
