Người miền Nam ngày xưa thích ăn bánh mì " ba tê xúc xích " = pâté saucisse , chịu ảnh hưởng cuả Pháp ; sau đó họ biến chế ra thành đủ thứ món khác . Bánh mì thịt ngon cuả VN sẽ có một lớp ba tê phết ở trong ruột bánh , sau đó mới tới thịt xá xíu hay thịt gà xé chiên vàng hoặc các loại dăm bông ( jambon ) hay các thứ thịt chế biến khác cùng với đồ chua , hành lá , ngò rí và ớt . Người Pháp hiện nay rất thích ăn bánh mì thịt kiểu Việt Nam như vậy . Like cho Max 😍❤👍

"Con" is the sweetest and most loved personal pronoun. If an elder calls you "con" it means you're loved.
Auntie said "cảm ơn con" to him, which you can understand as "Thank you, my sweetheart"

I left Saigon in 1991. Since then there are many new menu of food created by genius Vietnamese people. I may need to try all of them once I get back to visit my country.
It is a wonderful country I lived there from 2019-2023. The people are the most friendly anywhere around they treat everyone like family regardless of how you look. The food is always tasty and fresh and is extremely cheap I was able to feed my family of 6 for less than $16 USD. Amazing country I hope to visit again someday.

That's what I called "hospitality" . I am proud of Vietnam for that. Literally the restaurant was packed, she did not have to mix the sauce for you. But she did, and you enjoyed your meal three times more due to that triple mix-up sauce, which you didn't ask for. When was the last time that you get something nice that you did not ask for in the US?

Its MUCH more common in the south and even Midwest in parts. People are raging pricks on EC/WC. I've done a TON of traveling, and people in the south are MUCH MUCH better at hospitality/kindness.

and we use "nui" to address macaroni, rigatoni, and fusilli (short pasta in tube shape), long pasta like spaghetti we call it "Mì Ý" (Italy Noodles) :D

@@kngiht84 t is hard to make the distinction. This is a calque, or a loan translation, and it is sort of a bastardization of the word.
Transliteration is making the word easier to read by rewriting it in another alphabet, the word is still a foreign word but can be read easier. Loan translation is adopting a word into another language system using said alphabet, to create a new word in the new language that is a modified version of the original word.
Loan word is a broader term for it, with certain distinctions. For example, "nationalism" is a loan word from "nationalisme" because it was transliterated into English and kept as is. Whereas "beer garden" is a loan translation from the phrase " biergarten" because it got translated into English. In this case here, "nui" is a phonological calque of the word "nouille".

Definitely not the same as French pâté, but there are variations in texture for French pâtés. Pâté de campagne can be quite coarse and terrine coarser still. Pâté de foie (liver pâté) is the most like Vietnamese pâtés I've had and has a very smooth almost mousse-like texture.

Một người ngoại quốc biết nói tiếng việt và rất sành ăn uống đồ ăn của Việt Nam còn hơn cả người việt, nhìn cách anh ăn lúc nào mình cũng rất thích vì trông rất là ngon miệng.
Bò "né" ... Trước đây có tên gọi là bò Napoleon được phổ biến những năm đầu thập niên 80 trong các nhà hàng,quán nhậu ở SG . Phần ăn là một lát thịt bò theo kiểu beef steak + một trứng gà ốp la+ pate+ một phô mai đầu bò 🐮 được làm chín trên khuôn hình con bò bằng gang dùng kèm với rau salad, cà chua. Sau này các quán ăn biến tấu bằng thịt bò xắt lát mỏng và được gọi lại tên "bò né " ....
Bò né là bò xắt mỏng xào với khổ qua và bơ. Anh chẳng ngon gì

That beef-shaped plate should be come from Taiwan and is specially used for beef steaks. It was started using in the restaurant more than 40 years ago!
In 1976, after Taiwan imported beef cattle from New Zealand, Australia, and Central and South America, affordable Taiwanese beef steaks were officially born.
The last Vietnamese buns seemed to be deep-fried Taiwanese steamed buns, which was very interesting!

My stepson loves the first dish. I just call it steak and eggs. We hop on the motorbike and go to this popular place in Thu Duc District that serves it. Hu tieu is one of my favs. I know a lady that lives next door to my wife’s family there in Thu Duc District that serves the best in Vietnam.🇻🇳

I was so confused when my Vietnamese friend brought me to a roadside _bò bít tết_ place in Ho Chi Minh City, because I didn’t come to Vietnam to eat a poor imitation of western-style beefsteak. But man, it turned out to be one of my favorite dishes of that trip! 🤤
Perhaps it was the smooth _pâté_ or maybe it was the crispy _bánh mì_ or maybe it was the exhaust gas, I don’t know, what I do know is that I really enjoyed the entire experience. While there are other versions of localized beefsteak dishes around Asia including in my country Indonesia, but Vietnamese _bò bít tết_ / _bò né_ is definitely my favorite! 👍

I'm half Mediterranean (Italian French). Pate was always present in my household. But, I must say Vietnamese cuisine is pretty clever with their use of pate. Everything looks delicious. Thank you for sharing Max!

We got $20 Bò Né in San Jose with two eggs, cup of pate, a meat ball, a palm size of fillet mignon and a small ball of salad. Not bad for California price.
I remember there was a bánh tiêu/bánh bao chiên vendor next to my kindergarten school and my dad would buy me one bánh bao chiên after school to eat while we’re waiting for mom to get off work (my mom is a kindergarten teacher). miss those days so much.

Because most Vietnamese restaurants outside of Vietnam that the chefs are 99% home cooks while in Vietnam restaurants are famous just because the chefs are the best of the best home cooks. I am Vietnamese and 3 of my favorite dishes are my Quang, Banh Cuon, Nem Nuong that none of all Vietnamese restaurants in Montreal cook these dishes right.

I'm not really a fan of beef dishes. But ever since I ate from Bò Né Thanh Tuyền, that is hands down my favourite beef dish! I have been craving for it ever since. 😍
