The Guitar Finishing Kit is a great way to apply a professional quality finish on a guitar without the need for spray equipment. You can even apply a magnificent sunburst effect without having years of training or experience.
The kit contains aerosols including clear sealer, clear Stringed Instrument Lacquer, and 2 colors of guitar toners. It also includes the products you'll need to rub the finish to a mirror-like high gloss sheen and the product to finish the fretboard with a warm luster.
Our instructional DVD that is included in the kit is so detailed; we could not include all of the information and instructions in this document or in the video found on our website. To acquaint you with the kit and the finished results, we have given a general outline below and in the video on our website. Be assured that the DVD in the kit will walk you through the process in great detail. You'll watch over the shoulder of the expert, having each step carefully explained and demonstrated. You'll learn a stunningly simple technique to precisely create a sunburst effect and a beautiful finish that you can be proud for years to come.
    Step 1
Prepare the guitar with the proper sanding.
    Step 2
Decide what you want your guitar to look like - will you have a sunburst, will you color the neck, will you stain the back, etc.? If you don't have a plan, you will not know how to proceed.
    Step 3
Seal the guitar with the Vinyl Sealer aerosol and sand when dry.
    Step 4
If there is to be a sunburst, create the guide per the instructions on the video.
    Step 5
Decide on the color of the sunburst - one color or two-toned?
    Step 6
Apply the sunburst with the Guitar Toner aerosols according to your plan, using the guide you made.
    Step 7
Apply any other color you wish on the back or the neck or the sound board.
    Step 8
Apply several coats of Stringed Instrument Lacquer.
    Step 9
When properly dried, sand the lacquer with multiple steps of sandpaper.
    Step 10
Rub the lacquer with 3 steps of rubbing compound. You can use a power buffer, but one is not required.
    Step 11
    Play that song!!
