Sanna, your knits are so beautiful! Could you perhaps do a ‘big’ video project where you teach how to knit one of your sweaters step by step? I’m learning how to knit and and know the basics but it would be so helpful to also see you do the whole project with some general explanations. 🙏😃
Oh! I would love this too. Also, how you care for your sweaters, keep them from staining (I watched the snow washing and loved it), how often you wear your sweaters and how long they last in real life! You do such beautiful work!
I am a new knitter. I’m also 65 years old. It’s never too late. And yes, when I do this, it gives me a sense of calm well until I make a mistake. I love your work and your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Ah, don't worry about mistakes you just learn from them. Im not a perfect knitter but I don't make too many anymore because I check all the rows as I go along, but I do not knit complicated things either. I would love to knit lace shawls, but tooo many mistakes, so I just knit cables now and little bits of lace patterns in my sweaters here and there, much easier to keep track of mistakes and progress. Wish you all the best, welcome to knitting life, it's fabulous!!!
Nothing beats a big cozy sweater 🥰🥰 I always wished I could knit. I learned crochet as a child and did that for decades but knitting always eluded me. I think its the 2 needles that messes with my brain 😅 Those sweaters are beautiful ❤️
I was born in India: in childhood, I remember my mum used to knit a lot. She also had a stash of wool and in my childhood, me and my sister wore sweaters knitted by Mom, even our school sweaters. She also made sweaters, gloves and socks for dad, our grandparents and other family members: As far as I remember she learnt it from the group of women who lived in the same society since our dads worked in the engineering projects of the government, they made small settlements in remote areas where they can live with their family. Pretty much like a job of a armed force personals. My dad was not in the army, but in the engineering services for a Governmental organization building hydro electric dams So I spent my childhood in the mountains of Himalayas, which more or less has the vibes of Northern Finland I guess. Probably such passions come naturally to women living in such places: When I was 6, my dad passed away. Unfortunately, my mom had to throw away her passion projects and go to work to. Luckily since my dad was in Central Government and died on duty, my mom was able to get a good job in the same Government organization, not the same post as my dad of course, since she is not an engineer, and she didn't think twice to have it because she had to raise two children, me and my sister. We moved to a big city where my mom was born and raised. Now she is very old, unable to do these things, but hopefully she would enjoy this video. . She doesn't understand English very well, but I will surely share this video with her. It brought back nostalgia to me. Thanks: 🙂🙂
@@ceilconstante640 Thank you for the nice comment and yes, I agree with you. I follow few lifestyle channels just to sometimes escape the mundane city life and this channel is one of them.
Your knits are so beautiful! I think we knitters are similar all over the world keeping a stash of yarn that refills as quickly as we empty it. I think it’s because we see the love in each skein, wrapping us with warmth!
I realize that and knit continental style but the way she tensions the yarn with 2 or more colors is consistently fast, seemingly flawless and efficient. Truly amazing!! Thank you!

I finally got to sit down and watch this lovely episode with my needles in hand and a cup of tea 😊 And it did not disappoint. I watch a lot of knitting podcasts but there is something special about seeing knitting so organically incorporated into life - the fact that it appears one way or other in most of your videos is wonderful and spending this time talking about just your knitting practice was the icing on the cake! ❤ I hope it will become a regular feature of your episodes. Your channel and your work is so beautiful, Sanna. ❤ from Ireland.🧶🍀
Thank you, Thank you for this!! I’m have never knit intarsia or two colors and I truly LOVE all of your sweaters. I am hoping to learn through the many videos. I love your UA-cam channel and would love it if you would consider doing a knit along for mittens or socks with 2 colors. I am in my mid-70’s and really embraced knitting when I retired. I wish I had been a knitter when I was young like you! You make it all look so easy! Blessings to you and your husband for a lovely holiday season. I agree with your philosophy about Christmas as posted on your last video.
My mom and my older sidter knited. I am not sure who she learned it from but my sister learned from mom. Mom did such an amazing job. She exactly knew how to creave sleeve holes or the neck line. She had such a good eye for measurement. She was known as the best knitter in the family! 🙂 Sanna, you have such a great talent.

Your knitting is amazing. I do not knit. Many reasons why, but to see your work and color choices & patterns you choose is beyond beautiful. Truly. You may see it as not much to rave about. But for those of us who cannot do that kind of work. It is priceless. i think you would be amazed how much people would pay for a sweater like one of these. You ought to try it and see. Sanna… I am so glad I found your channel. You’re an inspiration and a gift! I can’t wait to listen to all of your episodes. I really loved this knitting themed episode. I’m an avid knitter and this was great.
I enjoy all your videos so much and love seeing your sweaters in them. I was happy to watch this video in particular - I was ripping out a shawl and rewinding the yarn by hand and loved that you were speaking about this very thing. It was kind of like we were knitting together for a few minutes. Thank you for the calming moments you share with all of us :D
I started knitting this year because of you! I saw you weaving in ends in one video and thought: if she can do it so can I! And I’m loving it thank you ❤
I haven't knitted anything for years, but watching your video has totally inspired me to get to it again! Being born and raised on the Faroe Islands, which also has a great history of knitting, and more sheep than people, I learned to knit while in kindergarten. And now that fall is here I really miss the familiar cozyness of knitting while drinking a cup of tea :) Thank you for your lovely and inspirational video!
This video is a work of art: all the lovely naturals (wool) and primitives (decor), and traditional handcrafting. I find it very soothing and will return to watch it repeatedly. Love the primitive decor, your sweet voice and soft smile. Softly-patterned sweaters, sweet life. Sweaters were nearly my religion as a teen; I left many of them behind (I must replace my reindeer one!). But I still find Irish and Scottish handknit pieces when we thrift, and I hang them on our walls as they have such character. And I think I will now knit wool, yes, for pillows, and maybe one sweater, as I have always longed to do. Thank you. I still have some vintage Lopi pattern books from my teen years and you have reawakened my passion for them. The blue patterned mittens are so lovely: they and your bear pillow caught my eye. The mittens are also from one of the books you mentioned? Blessings of peace to you . . .
I too am an avid knitter. I can so relate to when you showed all your wool. I too have a collection, however, always seems to buy more for certain projects I have in mind. I have given away wool and then I end up acquiring more. I heard a fun saying about knitters. you can tell we love to knit, as we rip out a lot and then we just keep knitting. For projects where it works I put in a life line so if I do have to rip back I don't lose any stitches and only have to go back so far. It works well in the shawls I have made where they are made in sections. I also love the feel of wool against my skin. Thanks for the video I so enjoyed seeing all of your sweaters and a few I will look for the pattens you mention here. Happy knitting.
Such a beautiful and relaxing video! I loved the music and all the sweaters are incredibly beautiful ! I don't knit but used to sew. On many occasions I've had to rip seams and fix mistakes but always worth it in the end to have a well made garment.
What an inspiring video with yourself and your beautiful sweaters , you are truly an amazing knitter. I myself can knit but very plain things, I took a class to learn patterns for a hat for myself, well when I was finished it was just the right size for my granddaughter who was 10. I think I’ll keep with the straight knitting. It was a fun class and I made beautiful friends. I truly enjoy your videos. Look after yourself and keep up the great work 🧶
Well done, Sanna. These are all so beautifully made. My mother made most of my clothes growing up. I think many times, it is a lost art. So glad to see you showing others and giving inspiration.
I could watch this video over and over. Thank you for making us a knitting video. As a fellow knitter, I am so inspired by your beautiful work. I just got "the lakeside stitches" book a few weeks ago and I am so excited to knit some of the patterns from it. Thank you so much for sharing your knitting with us and showing us all of your beautiful sweaters.
Olet todella intohimoinen neuloja.
Sanna, your taste is very good! Love all the colors and styles on you! I look better in shades of browns and blues in those kind of sweaters. The one that you are wearing with the turtle neck is gorgeous!! Love to have that in shades of brown and blues! Looks like a sweater you can wear for the rest of your life! Thank you for showing us all your wools and that efficient and fast contraption for turning skeins of yarn into balls of yarn, pretty cool ! Spring is coming for you guys! We are enjoying it here in Maine, USA, the most northern state on the eastern side of the U.S. It is so beautiful now with all the fresh greenery and many, stunning flowers from bulbs, shrubs, or trees....Take Care 💟
Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations. Since I live in Kentucky, USA, I don’t have the luxury of wearing such cozy knit wear. But that doesn’t keep me from knitting sweaters!! I have socks on the go always. I would love to live in your village for one year to experience the beauty in nature. Thank you. I love watching your videos
Way to go Sanna. Beautiful knits and the joy you have knitting. Keep enjoying. I love your videos because it reminds me about time long ago in Finland.
I use only sock yarn or yarn with silk to stay natural as much as possible. I also use only natural yarns and have done a long Nordic cardigan with Plotulopi....I made mine open so no need to steek it and also got Icelandic metal buttons to match. I lengthened it 5 more inches as I enjoy wearing longer sweaters and cardigans.
Thank you so much!!!! This video is absolutely inspiring!!! All these variety of yarns, sweaters in different patterns give the feeling of coziness and bring back to the childhood. Now I got this irresistable desire to learn how to knit.
Loved watching this video, brought back good memories ( I'm old ), sitting in our tiny kitchen eith my mom and grandma me holding up the yarn on both arms while hrandma rolled it in a ball 😊 when there was mobody to hold the yarn I would use the back of a kitchen chair. Thanks for this Sanna. Susanna
12:33 Definitely knitting teaches you a lot of lessons. Perseverance and patience. Knitting is a life long learning experience that will challenge you forever. It's worth every stitch, every mistake you have to undo and re-do, it's worth all the hours you'll invest in learning to work with different yarns, techniques and working different things out. It teaches you to better organize your thoughts I find, creating patterns and different ways to put them together and learning the history of knitting and all the different cultures that embrace this is mind blowing.
Hello, I've been watching you for about a year now and enjoy your vlog so much! I'm from NW Pennsylvania, USA and we are having our first snow storm of the season. I wanted you to know that I've been waiting to snow wash all of my woolen sweaters until today! I just brought them in and they smell so fresh! Thank you for introducing this method to me, and others too, thank you! I'm a life-long convert. Please take care, I support your journey
Dear Sanna, Thank you for this video! What a beautiful sweaters you knit in amazing patterns. I just love them. I can't wear wool, it itches all day long, so that's really a pity. The colours of the wool are so 'wintery', love them. Maybe i could use another fabric and make a winter sweater too. I crochet a lot at the moment, but want to pick up my knitting needles for such a wonderful project. Could you do another video and show us how it's done? Love to hear you talk and your kindness makes me happy! Have a good day, love Ellen 🥰
Hello Sanna. I "found" you thanks to this video, I love what you have knitted, and you have re-ignited my love of knitting. I recently purchased a book called "Viking Knits" by Lasse L Matberg, which features the most beautiful knitted garments, that I know, you would simply just love, and I am looking forward to knitting the garments. Another designer you would like is a Finnish designer who now calls Australia home, and her name is Susann Kaartinen, who designs Finnish inspired knitted garments, again I am sure that you will love. Both of these designers can be found on Ravelry, however to get the patterns from the ''Viking Knits'' book, you will have to purchase it but it is well worth it. I have binged watched all of your videos too and love them, you are so inspiring. Love to Papau your beautiful little Shetland sheep dog and of course Rover! 🧶♥
I agree, it is truly incredible. I have been knitting since I was 4 years old( which was in the 60ties), but after watching Sanna knit I cannot figure out how on earth she is doing it.😁👌🏻
All of your sweaters are sooo beautiful! I really enjoyed this vid. I only crochet presently, but would love to learn to knit. I have started several times, but my tension is uneven, gets tight, and I feel like my hands don’t work! I am so glad youtube threw your channel into my queue. I am now a new subscriber
Hi Saana, and thank you for this lovely video of your sweaters. They are all so beautiful! Also, thank you for the book recommendations. Keeping warm in Canada.
The blue mittens were the same color that my Swedish decent grandmother knit a sweater for me one Christmas. It had reindeer across the breast plate and was my favorite. Great love great talent.
I sympathise - I've had to unravel several things lately, then reknit. The thought of it always is so much worse than the actual doing, somehow. Once I start it becomes its own challenge (mainly how to stop everything getting tangled 😅) and I comfort myself with how much better the end result will be if I take this time now. I live your sweaters - beautiful work!
Thank you Sanna for making this episode! I've admired your many knits in your other videos and appreciated seeing your yarn cupboard and your new project. I've knitted with Tuku Wool but fingering weight. I'm sure I'd enjoy making a sweater with DK weight as well. The colors are so lovely! Hope spring has arrived for you by now!
Omg why did I never think of having 20 different things started 😮 what a great idea! I’ve been only knitting on one thing, finishing it then going to the next. Time to try your method!

Thank you so much for this knitting episode, Sanna 😊🧶 I was mending socks while watching it. I‘ve been putting that off for several years, but now I just need to do it. It‘s like unravelling your sweater, it‘s a bit boring and you would rather create something new. But sometimes it‘s just necessary, because after that, the piece will hold for many years 😊 happy to see more of your knitwear, your sweaters are so beautiful and I love your colour scheme 😊
Wow! Thank you. I have stopped knitting for many years now... though I have some yarns in the cupboard. I will start again when I get hold of a nice book. Yes, you have inspired me a lot! From your grandma in Hong Kong. ❤
I have enjoyed watching your videos, Sanna, but was delighted by this knitting one as I am a great knitter myself. What a wonderful surprise! More please! X
Sanna, thank you for sharing your beautiful knits! The main reason I learned to knit was so I could make warm and beautiful sweaters for winter. Yours are truly inspiring!! I love woolly wool like lettlopi and will look into getting some Tukuwool. In the U.S. The Woolly Thistle carries this yarn. ❤

Such a lovely, inspiring video, thank you, Sanna! I love knitting and taught myself how to do Fairisle and Scandinavian Style colour-work a couple of years ago as well as cable-work. I don't use real wool, as I am both vegan and my skin is not coping with the feeling of wool, but I love the patterns. I made one of the Icelandic ones you showed (Afmaeli by Vedis Jonsdottir) a couple of times and several Norwegian hats and mittens. I love your natural and subtle colour choices. Lots of love from England xx

Simply beautiful. I have a couple little projects I like to do, especially in the winter, that are soothing to the mind. Just difficult enough to keep my attention, yet easy enough to achieve without too much frustration. I would so love to knit myself a sweater though. I have skeins of 4ply merino wool, all different colours. I need to use!!

I couldn’t find the book you mentioned, would you mind telling me where you got it? Thank you
Beautiful knits ❤️ Your channel is lovely and soothing.
I am a long term crocheter and learned to knit basics in January 2024.
I love your sweaters. Thank you for sharing. I may knit again because of your great motivation. A 69 year old Swiss woman in Florida.
Your sweaters are lovely. I love watching your process. I do not have your talent, but certainly enjoy seeing you do this. Thank you for sharing.😊
Sanna. Thank you for sharing your skill and wisdom. You have definetly inspired me to kick my knitting up a knotch.
She's such a sweet person !!
I watch her videos when I need too slow down....
As a past knotter.. I highly appreciate her work❤
Hello, I've been watching you for about a year now and enjoy your vlog so much!
Sanna you have such talent and a good ‘eye’ for a beautiful pattern.
Do you sell your creations? I expect they are extremely popular.
Dear Sanna,
Thank you for this video!
Your knitting is so beautiful. I love your sweaters and mittens that you make. Now you have made we want to try your favorite yarn!
Thank you for sharing your knitted sweaters and thoughts while knitting. I enjoyed knitting in the winter.
Very beautiful sweaters! I'm trying to learn knitting, because all the life I only crocheted. Thank you for your nice peaceful vlog!
Beautiful! Inspiring indeed. I've always admired those who could knit a sweater, mittens, socks etc.
Sanna, I love your comments and thoughts, starting around 13:25 and on. Very wise advice about starting over. Thank you!
Your appearance speaks to my heart. Thanks für your beautiful work and a pleasant video. 🌹
Your sweaters are beautiful. They look so warm. You have captured the designs of the patterns perfectly.
beautiful inside , beautiful outside and you create beautiful things , thank you for sharing
Incredible! Now please share how you hold your needles and knit so quickly! You are truly inspirational!!
nordic people knit with the left hand called continental knitting ,it makes less vinger/hand movements that is why it s so fast
I agree, it is truly incredible. I have been knitting since I was 4 years old( which was in the 60ties), but after watching Sanna knit I cannot figure out how on earth she is doing it.😁👌🏻
Upeita luonnonläheisiä värejä ja kauniita kuvioita. Neulominen on niin ihanaa. 🥰 Sun videoiden parissa tulee aina niin rauhallinen tunne.
The Blue one with the line of bears is stunning! Thank You for the presentation and words of wisdom! Skal
Wonderful video, from making balls from yarn with that wooden piece, it’s all so nice, sharing books and patterns. Really liked it
Hi Saana, and thank you for this lovely video of your sweaters. They are all so beautiful! Also, thank you for the book recommendations. Keeping warm in Canada.
The blue mittens were the same color that my Swedish decent grandmother knit a sweater for me one Christmas. It had reindeer across the breast plate and was my favorite. Great love great talent.
Sanna, you are so talented. Thank you for sharing this video with us. You are so kind🤗
Such beautiful knitting , colours, designs, and wool. So impressive. ❤❤❤
I sooo enjoy your videos 🤗 ! So calm, so peaceful. Thank you for sharing your everyday life Sanna 🙏❤️🙏
Your knitting is beautiful, would love to see more knitting videos, maybe sharing sock patterns you made for your winter’s. Thank you 🙏
Beautiful 🌿
Omg why did I never think of having 20 different things started 😮 what a great idea! I’ve been only knitting on one thing, finishing it then going to the next. Time to try your method!
Such a wonderful video, so peaceful. Thank you. I'm a knitter in Northern Alberta, Canada.
i especialy got a cup of tea to watch your video with it , its so cosy to watch .your knitting ,video and photography skills are phenominal ,groetjes from the netherlands
Thank you so much for this knitting episode, Sanna 😊🧶 I was mending socks while watching it. I‘ve been putting that off for several years, but now I just need to do it. It‘s like unravelling your sweater, it‘s a bit boring and you would rather create something new. But sometimes it‘s just necessary, because after that, the piece will hold for many years 😊
happy to see more of your knitwear, your sweaters are so beautiful and I love your colour scheme 😊
Wow! Thank you. I have stopped knitting for many years now... though I have some yarns in the cupboard. I will start again when I get hold of a nice book. Yes, you have inspired me a lot! From your grandma in Hong Kong. ❤
Greetings from Ireland, home of the Aran jumper with all its cables and various other stitches, I have knit an Icelandic jumper some years ago.
Exquisite work.... the Foyka design is my favorite, I think. Thank you. I'm 77 and just learning to knit. You are right, it teaches patience.
You continue inspiring me, Sanna Vaara. I love your sweaters, socks and mittons. All the art involved is overwhelming in all the things you knit. Thanks for showng us what you knit and how you do it. Extraordinary work! Congratulations! Thanks.
Rose from Chile❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, what lovely jumpers.😊 You have such patience. I would've been tempted to overlook any mistake after all your hard work.
Your knits are absolutely stunning!
May I ask what sizes you usually chose for your sweaters to get that cozy oversized look?
Also, is there a pattern for the sweater you are currently working on? It looks beautiful!
Thank you for sharing your lovely creations with us.
Much love from Germany ❤
What a lovely podcast this was! I really enjoyed seeing your knits each is unique yet beautiful! I want more ! Best to you, ClaudiaSJI
Thank you Sanna, your video is beautiful and so inspiring. I have been knitting a Scottish Aran jumper for many years, now I am motivated to finish it! 😊 From Australia. ❤
Thank you for a beautiful knitting video. Would love to see more like this. 😊
Wonderful video about inspiration and meaning of remaking already knitted sweaters. BTW your work is exceptional and you are very warm and deep thinker. Thank you for sharing your work and thoughts 👏💖
Sanna! I was laughing at how many things you said that I agree with and experience in my own knitting journey! I am a new subscriber and I just loved watching this. Thank you for sharing, it was definitely inspiring. -Jonie
Very interesting! Your wool sweaters are beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
YOUR DEDICATION TOWARDS THE KNITTING ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.🌷
every pullover you made are beautiful, very inspiring
I love the patterns you are showing here, especially the one you are wearing at 12:52 lovely!
Just thrifted my first vintage sweather made from finnish wool, so what a timing for this video!
I don't knit much anymore. Gorgeous sweaters - Love your style!
I don’t knit (my wife did a lot of knitting) but I found this fascinating. You do beautiful work! ❤
