In fall of 1962 I was dating my future husband in south SF Bay Area before it became Silicon Valley, and “Sherry” was in EVERY jukebox and he played it so much I started to detest it. It took me years to enjoy it again. I understand the drummer in this video was Frankie’s son-in-law at that time. Memory Lane for this 81 1/2 year old 🤩🤩🤩 6 Oct 2024 Maricopa County, AZ
Franki Valli and the Four Seasons were so popular that a broadway musical about them ran for 15 years. It was a worldwide hit called “Jersey Boys”. They have a fantastic catalog. If you remember the title song to the movie “Grease” then you have heard Franki Valli. He’s the one down front without an instrument. He is still with us and just turned 90 on May 3rd.
Frankie Valli is the one sitting down with the headphones. Other songs to check out: Walk Like a Man Sherry Big Girls Don't Cry Silence is Golden Let's Hang On My Eyes Adored You Rag Doll Candy Girl Grease Big Man in Town Workin' My Way Back to You Who Loves You
These guys have a huge catalog of music spanning many years, pick any song and listen to it, you will love them. The guy sitting with the higher voice is Frankie. Try who loves you, and My eyes adored you
This is the first song my Aunt Judy ever wrote. She was married to Bob Gaudio until the day she passed. Bob wrote basically every big song rhey had as well as the Broadway play Jersey Boys based on their lives.
@@GrandmasGotGraceLW if you are interested, there is a video of Judy and Bob talking about the origins of the song.Heres some trivia...on the (Adam West) Batman TV show she was a follower of the (Burgess Meredith) Penguin. He liked her so much that he asked for her to play his daughter on an episode of Bonanza.
This song is from 1975. "1963" is part of the title. The song is about a young man's "special" night back in 1963. This is a great band to explore. They have a lot of great hits. They are an inonic American band, especially in the 60s and 70s. Frankie Valli is the one not playing an instrument. The drummer is Gerry Polci.
Gotcha! Appreciate you sharing! I could not believe how well they all sung! This song was definitely so catchy! Thanks for swinging by and hanging out! 😁
Your enthusiasm & love for this song is fabulous! In addition to the old tunes from the 60s that others mentioned, check out the hit that came out just before this one: Who Loves You (1975). I'd love to see your reaction to that one, tool.
You recognized the hot bass lick while singing! That’s the stuff right there. Takes me back to when I was 6 years old dancing around in my living room in 1975 with brothers and sisters! Great reaction, I can tell like me you appreciate the details! Rock on brother!
Yeah...they all sang. 😀 I was at 2:56 in the video just a few minutes back, when suddenly I heard a BEAUTIFUL soprano voice wafting back here from the computer room (three full rooms away from me), and went out to see if it was Judi or Liz (who's 11) singing. I discovered that it was actually my 16-year-old grandson who NORMALLY sings a pretty good bass (but I can go lower than he can...na na na na naaa na -- I just proved it to him -- hitting Geoff Castellucci's lowest note, which Harry is shy of, by two full notes). He was actually SINGING up into the 6s, and it was gorgeous! Last week I could hit the highest note he was hitting, but today I could only come within two notes of him. His 13-year-old brother Michael, on the other hand, was going two notes HIGHER than Harry was! I already know Isaiah (who will be 15 in a couple of weeks) can go higher than Michael. These guys! I need to get back to practicing every day!!! The kids are getting really, really good! 😀 I'm really glad you loved this song. The Four Seasons used to be one of my VERY favorite groups. Thanks for the great song, and the memories! 😀
It’s so cool that you have so many talented singers in your family and you all share the love of music! You will be back to top tier vocal shape in no time with daily practice once that muscle memory takes over! Thanks for sharing Linda and have a blessed day! 😀
You said this came out early 60’s. But the sound has 50’s overtones making it retro before “retro” term was ever used. It was a throw back. It has a 59’s rock sound of like the everly brothers. Or righteous brothers. And Neil Sedaka too. Which he was throwback too.
This is one of their later songs from the 70's, They were a super group led by Frankie Valli's falsetto voice in the 60's. Another song on this album that does not get a lot of love, is SILVER STAR, but is a banger.
Back then, we weren't allowed to use any other grip. Y'all call it "traditional" now. Unless you were playing tri-toms, this was it. I still use this grip when I'm using brushes.
@@setonhillstudios I did. As the tri-tom player in High School Matching Band, and the tympani player in Concert Band, I found I could get some of the accents better with matched. Of course trying to do a drop/drag technique with brushes is much easier/better with traditional.
No lies told! These singers and musicians had to BRING IT because there wasn’t any production, auto-tune, or tracks to hide behind! Thanks for hanging out!
@@thomasripley1548 I completely understand but I am listening through 2 pairs of studio grade monitors (KRK and JBL) depending on how much bass response I want. They cover the frequency spectrum so nice! We use them to mix on here at the studio. Thanks for the recommendation though and have a great day! 😃
