Yes definitely
Yep +1

I’m 5’7 played AA ball for the reds average carry is 288..started golf at 15 finished 3rd in the state at 17...went on to play college baseball and golf...went to the reds and quit golf for 8 years...came back last year down to a +1.8hc in 1 year....I have transferred so much of my hip movement from baseball to my golf swing..moving to Florida next year to play mini tours
Very Cool!
As a lifelong ballplayer turned golfer, I've been waiting for this.
Tom Carrow, I must say, this has been a true problem for a quite long time, especially in the 90’s, when Leadbetter grew big. Crossing arms and square shoulders was the thing back then, and I got stucked after naturally hitting the ball like baseball or hockey slap-shot. Too much ”golf talk” and teaching professionals only understanding of their own way. There has been really big improvement beginning from early 2000’, since the pro game got more athletic.
What’s intresting, is that Ben Hogan swing looked really much like the ”modern” tour swing already in the 50’s and 60’s. I think lot of those, who got into teaching and had not making it in competition golf did not really understand, what they were missing.
Brendon-- thanks again for putting yourself out there for all of us golfers who are trying to improve
".....for *putting* yourself out there..."
Golf on the brain😂
Yes!!
I follow milo some time now and he is actually having the great swing with control and speed, that’s why it is a no brainer for me to listen to what he says...
I’m a former d 1 power hitting catcher and was career ended by a shoulder injury. I picked up golf a year ago and absolutely love it. I found my driver was so natural once I learned the wrist actions. Went out today and caught one 322yds on 18 which was my Personal Best! Great Video relating to all the ballplayers turned golfers
Very Cool!
Time index (22:50) - 'square the face as early as possible' - (i.e. immediately). When you analyze Pros vs Amateur swings with GEARS, this is the biggest difference between what the top guys on earth do and everyone else. If you take anything away from this video - this is the most important thing. Once you do that, you can then do everything else in this video to generate the ground force power that baseball guys have been doing for 100 years, what Nicklaus did 50 years ago, and now what every modern golfer is re-learning to do - i.e. swing like Jack did his entire career.
Very good observation!
This video is awesome. I'm gonna share it with all my baseball buddies. Great video.
This is so gold. The world has no idea!
Thank you so much! Tried this today at course and it worked great! I didn't have to think about hands and my driving went from normal 200 to 215 to around 235 avg! It was awesome and straight!
Thank you!!
Thank you for this. I am already following Milo and like his concept and the way he explains and demonstrates the Golf Swing. But this video added something that was really helpful.
Anders Søgaard thx Anders
@@BEBETTERGOLF even being from a country that doesn't play (or understand) baseball, this just makes sense. To view the golf-swing as a pure athletic motion, using the basic athletic skills you/I/we were taught as children and growing up, instead of all the technical explanations. I also must commend you on your ability to act out the student role and asking relevant and intelligent questions. It made me able to relate easily to the ideas and the drills. Thanks once more and hope you will have a merry X-mas.
THANK YOU. I played baseball, have always hit from the inside, struggle with TOO MUCH deloft at impact (I launch pitching wedge at 19) and driver is the one club I cannot get a handle on. That block right is my nemesis. Absolutely this is what I do - closing the face makes zero sense to my brain. As a lefty who bats righty, my baseball brain always wants to hit that push over the right field wall, and that leaves the face wide open. Really want to see Milo's drills for this!
Number 911 really how many 5’9 40 year old guys do you know that can reach 130 club head speed 0 training and very little practice? You should watch more of my stuff. I don’t hold lag it holds itself 😉. The release should be created by physics not muscular effort.
I think both of you compliment each other. Brendon is very good at asking the right questions and Milo simplifies the answers for us. I also thought Brendon swung the club more athletic than I have ever seen him by incorporating more rotation than he has done in other lessons.
What an amazing driving range!
you're rotating your lower body soooo much better after milo's input. great video
😉
this is one of the most incredible 'out there' tips I have ever seen. instantly incorporated it into my practice routine. Right on bra! Thanks for your continuing ability to score the gleanings from the gurus.
Milo is the man! Keep doing stuff with him!!
Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks for the video Milo - u talk about using centrifugal force to square up club face and then near end of video you demonstrate a releasing of the wrists EARLY in downswing - assume it’s a little of both? Tried sitting and turning to initiate downswing - Works Great !!!!
Milo is great. I like his "athletic" approach to teaching the swing. Too bad his teaching schedule is so full that he doesn't have time to do more playing vlogs. :-) He can bring it!
🙏
The best driving video u've done. More with, Milo, please. Thx!
Gotta Love Milo!
Great video. Seems to be an ever ending search for club head speed that doesn't end in traction or Epsom salts sit baths.
Milo has transferred skills from other sports. Reminds me that the greatest batter in the history of cricket was an Australian, Don Bradman. When he was a boy he used to hit a golf ball reapeatedly against a brick wall with a cricket stump. A cricket stump is round, 30 inches long and one and three eights inches in diameter. Give that a try sometime and see how you get on!
Bw
Espi
This is why alot of australian cricket players are great golfers - (ie) Ponting. the motion is the same! Great comment!
this range is stunning. great video.
Thx Sven
Really great content, using a pivot forward ala baseball batting, a concept most will find familiar if one concentrates on very familiar body motion.
thanks for this video B. I would appreciate more FO angles, and also slow-motion of the full swing with driver.
Just fyi for those with that speed radar: I have the same one and have used it alongside Trackman a few times. It’s consistently 4-6 mph high because it picks up the toe of the driver, not the center. But it is consistent.
With the flightscope that was true for Milo. About 4 mph off. For me though it was within 1 mph of what flightscope said
The concepts here are very similar to the video you did with Mike Malaska( I think last year) on getting more speed. I appreciate that he explains it from a different perspective.
I’ve seen it up close and in round and he ain’t lying!
Great video guys, wish I lived in the states to access both Milo and Mike 👍👏
Some serious speed in milos swing also a very good instructor my favourite channel on UA-cam to watch for instruction.
"112 with a grunt." LOL!!
You still had a grunt on that one, but it was a baby grunt.
Fantastic stuff. Can you link to Milo’s hit up on the ball video you mention? I searched his channel and cannot find it. Thank you so much.
We shot it. I have to edit it
Thanks so much
What a cool driving range. You don’t see that in Florida.
Great stuff guys. Milo's postings have helped me a lot.
Glad to hear!
Great video. Keep the up the good work.
@6:50 exactly! I'm 6'2' 280lbs, the golf club is light to me and I absolutely can't feel the weight of the club so, I have no idea what the face is doing!
Golf clubs are light to everyone bar midgets bro
Lol, yeah I got that.
The feeling I have is totally shutting my arms off. They will naturally engage but it’s almost as if your past the ball but your not. It’s a pure compressed ball. Amazing
Great content, it's the same thing I'm focusing on. Milo your approach on the swing is so natural and I think many golfer would improve following your philosophy. Would be great to get more content on the channel! question for Milo, what do you think is the difference between an hip spinout and a proper hip turn?
love the picture showing the angle of attack with club face. I realize now how to actually hit the ball instead of trying to lift it.
YES
Good stuff! That all makes perfect sense:)
It's a downward force with hips and lower body for shorter golfers. I myself is 5'8" but I'm the longest off the tee compared to my league players and friends, plus I don't play with a driver. I can outdrive other players with a 4i bc of my torso/lower rotation. Don't worry about soft toss bc that only shows ball tracking and speed, which is not what you want for a golf swing.
Yes!
I have a lot of former baseball players around me. Not mlb or minor league calibers though... one thing i have noticed is that pitchers tend to be a better golfer than those who played a hitter. I think it’s probably because pitchers have to train their muscles to have a highly repetitive motion for great consistency. Also, there’s a lot of similarity in key muscles being used in both sports and both requires a great degree of flexibility than just pure strength.
So now please head over to Clay Ballard who talks about squaring the clubface early on the downswing as you flatten the club shaft! I’ve been playing this silly game for nearly 60 years and I’m still fascinated with teachers like you guys who are constantly showing us how to improve.
I think you are on to something here Brendan. That move looks good on you.
Thx
B, Great video man.
Thank you for fulfilling my suggestion from 2 years ago.
You recommended working with me 2 years ago?
@@MiloLinesGolf When Brandon was first working with Malaska, I knew you were there and I wanted him to have a session with you because at the time I thought you could help him more or maybe differently than Mike was doing it. It was maybe a year and a half or 2 years ago, I don't remember exactly. I like your style of instruction and the videos of you and Mike explaining the swing. Keep up the good work Sir.
When Mullet 🙏
The Swing: a Body Reaction to the HANDS' Action (or Player's INTENT) of under- or side-throwing (slinging) the club or bat (with the HANDS)!
Elephant pattern
After watching nearly all of Brandon's videos, it seems like he is being humored by each instructor as all of his swings look the same because he is not executing instruction.
Every swing starts with his knees straightening & his head raising & impact he bends back down to impact.
What is the length of your driver shaft Mike?
After watching Milo’s videos about ten times, I was finally able to do something like his baseball swing on the range and course. It felt like I wasn’t releasing at all; just turning through with the grip leading the way. Of course, this is compared to my normal flip. And the ball went at least as far, and for the most part straighter except when I came over the top, which is still very possible. Plus the flight was much lower and bored through the wind nicely. Overall, it felt much more repeatable. Do the wrists ever “release” or do I just misunderstand release?
Eric worked with me on this same thing with the lower body
An easier answer for the baseball to golf swing problem is the Moe Norman swing. Just put the lead thumb into the golf position, and it's the same hand position as baseball. Hold the club up like holding a bat, then down to the ball with straight arms and see for yourself. Then swing.
One of the best videos out there... If you understand whats going on :) Thx!
Thanks!
Do you need to have enough depth in order to not pull it left by going over the top
Awesome video! How accurate do you think those radars are for irons? I find it pretty close to driver but have no baseline for irons.
Not as accurate
If you would like see a similar perspective and why what Milo is showing works better (human biology and kinetics), check out Shawn Clement's golf channel "Wisdom in Golf". Good stuff Be Better Golf! Glad to see someone else (Milo & Be Better Golf) talking about the "athletic" swing.
What a gorgeous backdrop...
Yes I would like to see Milo vs Eric. Brendon do you know the length of Milo's driver?
44 3/4
Something that causes us uneducated golfers problems is watching you demonstrate the hands moving upward with the club head lagging way behind. When you actually swing and hit a ball your hands do move up but they don't get way out in front of the body like you demonstrate. They get to just outside your left thigh as they move upward. I slowed the video down to .25 and paused it at impact. Helps to see this. Also, the audio is hilarious at that speed. You guys sound like your bombed out with drugs!
MIlo, when you said get it square early do you mean by the time the club gets parallel to the ground? I think Malaska talks about club face square to the swing arc from L to L?
he means to actively at the very first part of the downswing to get the club face square
Where is this place? Looks amazing
Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club in AZ.
So if I want to hit a 10 degree driver 10 degrees, I deloft to 5 degrees, and then hit upwards 5 degrees.
W.t.f. do you know how difficult it is to hit a driver without these thoughts?
How do you get baseballers to hit power fades if the path is naturally in to out?
With driver, Put ball position forward so they hit slightly up and slightly left path on the ball.
BE BETTER GOLF Thank you for the response. Would you ask them to also move the ball position when hitting with irons?
Do you ever do clinics just on driving the ball?
The golf club head is the bat. That's how to think about it.
You teach with Mike Malaska? This looks like the driving range he teaches at.
We teach at the same club!
Golfletics that’s got to be one hell of a club then! Great club for instruction.
Huff Huff 👍 we have 2 of the best in the business in one place.
So it’s Golfletics? Milo’s UA-cam, I mean.
Yep
You're gonna struggle loading into the ground because of your posture at address. You're in a sitting position with the butt way behind the heels. You're just asking to stand up and early extend from there to maintain balance. Address it like Hogan, then you can gain posture coming down.
He knows it’s something we have talked about!
Easy GG.
Overrated theory.
Think NBA defense position. Butt out doesn't mean you aren't loaded or can't be explosive.
J P Not sure what NBA defence movement has got to do with golf swing mechanics? Wasn’t aware early extending and getting steep was a problem in basketball? We don’t need or want to be loaded and explosive at address in a golf swing. We do in transition. Brendan stands up in his downswing. Changing his address posture is a good way to rectify this. If he had no issue with this in his downswing, I’d probably say leave it as is. But he does.
@@plentyofouts oh ok, it's probably bc you don't understand what it is like to be athletic. Cary on.
@@joeface03 Well I play golf professionally, does that count? You could have responded by addressing the actual points I've made as they relate to a golf swing, but you'd rather act like a kid in the playground. Well done athlete, carry on...
Brenden flips with the baseball bat as well. Notice where the bat head passes his hands. His hips may have opened but he's still throwing the head.
The "arm sling" is similar technique to martial arts. They teach to punch or kick "through" the target instead of right to it.
Nice clip! Technique reminds me a lot of GG's teaching method. Up, up,up on backswing (for long drive) and slinging the arms with the body and so on.
For sure GG gets a lot of his ideas from baseball as well.
I’d give Milo way more credit than that. Milo keeps things simple and athletic, GG teaches a complete mess where he’s using two helpers during lessons.
Brendon do you still believe, the first arm swing theory from Tony and malaska ????
Dynamic loft deloft at 5 and hit up at5 WOW WOW
NICE
The kid is easy faster (and way better) than me on my best day, but I'm surprised there was no mention of his "up" move BEFORE hitting the ball.
I mean, he makes it work, but his drives would be even farther (and more accurate), if he would save the big bounce up for just AFTER ball contact.
Swing speed radar reads 128 mph on club head speed and flight scope reads 122 mph?
B, I'm going to do something I have never done with you but I feel pretty strongly about it so here it goes! What you are trying to do here in this video is the path for you to take to get to the next level. FULL STOP!!! Monte calls it too much tilt too early, GG calls it early push with a stand up, Dahlquist calls it too much lateral too soon. Its all the same B.
what a freaking view.
I would have thought the people who played rounders (UK name for baseball) would make good golfers due to the left elbow leading.
Someone needs to work on their soft toss skills lol
Saying this from a place of love…you’re a very poor listener w guests that almost always are more knowledgeable than you. We can literally watch you thinking about your next point (and interrupting the guest mid-sentence) or walking away to check your camera etc….Like they teach in the golf swing, you simply need to get out of your own way and at least I’ll watch more.
No hate - hope this feedback helps improve your channel!
Putting this guy through the ringer.
How old is Milo? I’m 53....is it possible to get this speed? About same height and build
He’s 40
It depends. If you’re naturally fast yes you might see speeds similar, but not many at 53 will be this fast. Anyone who isn’t moving efficiently can get faster though.
What a question :)
@@arjanpetersen I thought it was a legitimate question
Brendon. Glad you finally got Milo on the channel! Milo. Does a player need to feel or work on separation? If not, how does it happen naturally? Thanks! 😀🏌️
Separation should be a natural occurrence if the transition of the pelvis happens as the arms and club head are still going back. As far as a working on it, I’d say it depends on the player. I generally focus on the transition and separation is a byproduct but not always. How’s that for not giving a definitive answer
Golfletics. Doing the drills and think I’m getting it!
You should check out Chase Duncan who is 5' 7" tall and slight of build and can bomb it over 300 yards
All these guys are hitting it over 300 yards. You might want to venture out of Korntucky and see what's out there!
Love the Taylor, Dave!
@@Youreout Thanks! 414CE. Fingerstyle!
@@guitar1950 Great guitars, I have two.
710 Dan Crary model and a 510, both dreads.
Love the ability to get some information from these awesome teachers in your videos, but PLEASE just let them teach and speak instead of talking over them and trying to finish their sentences
seriously!!! Good god, did he just do a couple three four lines?? Just inexplicable lack of listening skills
subliminal man.
Use that flightscope...that blue radar is garbage. I can swing 105 on that thing and I promise you I haven't been over 100 on a trackman in 2 years.
Its accuracy depends on where you set it up and how fast the face is rotating in the hitting area. For me it reads 2-4 mph faster than flightscope. For Brendan flightscope and the swing speed radar were identical on nearly every swing.
@@MiloLinesGolf I've heard guys laying it down flat a few feet in front of the ball to measure ball speed. Supposed to be quite accurate. Have you tried that Milo?
You've got what we call in the industry rabbit ears.... you're listening to every instructor in the world. We haven't decided on the side and the fundamentals and taking the time to refine them .? There's a lot of ways to skin a cat but if you don't have a sharp knife it sure is a lot harder
Rory McIlroy is also 5'9"
Yes and drives it as good as anyone in history!
so the wrist are like a hindge
I need to watch this more. My coaxh is trying to g-box me, hands in front. It doesn't match my baseball move, hips in front.
So if so many swings that fast, I wonder how fast Tiger and Jack was in their prime...
Prime tiger about 124 play speed when he switched to graphite. Prime Jack about 119 (on the shorter driver too). Prime Tiger and Jack capable of 130 with the modern driver easy.
@@BEBETTERGOLF Yeah... thats probably not far off... IIRC Tiger said at one point he maxed out his old 43,5" steelshafted Titleist 975D about 125, in competition... but yeah they would probably both be 130+ with todays modern equipment...
Not that it's a big deal...but it's still a deal. What was trackman saying your swing speed was compared to that hunk of junk you were basing your 112-115 swing speed with? I cannot swing in that neighborhood; and I've just been around golf long enough to know what a swing producing that speed looks like. And with all due respect you do have a pretty good swing; but I have a hard time believing you are in the average pro speed range.
Jeff Street for me the chs on the flightscope was exactly the same at the ssr for Milo the ssr was 3 mph fast or so
You lucked out finding a good small one then. I've had a couple of them and they were so erratic that i could not even use it as a baseline to help increase speed. And congrats on developing a very effortless looking swing producing great speed. I enjoy your interface and videos with all the different coaches out there too. Have you done any with Eric Cogorno?
My dogs name is Milo.
CRAZY COINCIDENCE! lol. Cool name
But what is your dog's driver swing speed? 😀😀😀
The commentator needs to quite walking around and focus on the lesson. Slow down and explain what is going on....
That driving. Range has got to be cgi
The real deal. It’s nice when it’s under 105degrees out
BE BETTER GOLF 105 ? I'm in the uk , 105 is a radio station
fradaja ha ha it’s special for sure and beautiful weather 9 months of the year
This is pretty similar to the Kelvin Miyahira stuff just explained a lot simpler am I wrong?
I think so. A lot ppl are teaching this now, Milo explains it the most clear
this is the exact thing I'm trying to fix in my swing
A lot in common with Kelvin. Some differences as well that I won’t get into.
