    You have to check out Milo's channel everyone! It's presented clearly but is absolute gold! Shoulder tilt is huge. When you get this down you hardly have to physically do anything else other than relax and swing like a baseball bat.

    I only discovered this for myself a few days ago. There is another video I saw on UA-cam that shows the top pros have 42 degree lean and their left shoulder points beyond the ball. The follow through angle is the same angle but the players have dipped down at impact. South Korean women pros look down the target line with head in that lean position not by lifting up and looking with the head back to normal. Great tip.

    Milo's no nonsense approach to instruction is great to watch and I think he's the best I've seen on UA-cam - I love Mike Malaska too but more for his personality than for his methods. Good stuff Brendan, well done.

    Great content Milo I had this exact issue with a leveling of my shoulders now if I concentrate on keeping my chest facing the ball throughout the whole swing I now get the feeling of sidebend and proper hip movement.

    This is the holy grail. A golf swing is part turn and part bend. Power does not primarily come from “turn.” It comes from bend: going from left side bend to right side bend. That’s how the ground is pressured and leverage is created. That’s how a club is shallowed and comes from the inside. The proper combo of turn and bend is felt in the “start the lawnmower” drill. You can find that on UA-cam. At the top, the shift from left side bend to right is initiated by pressuring the left foot to push the left hip back. There is also an element-slight-of tipping your upper body to the right. If you focus on the bend part of the swing, the turn portion will happen naturally. You begin the swing by straightening your right leg to push the right hip go backward and out of the way, and at the same time you bend your left side. Sort of like stack and tilt but not that exaggerated. You should also find that by emphasizing the left side bend on the backswing you will eliminate all the bad stuff you’ve been doing with your hands and arms, like yanking the club to the inside.

    Definitely interesting stuff! Power wise I certainly agree with many aspects of this approach. Accuracy wise, I would be worried that this would take timing work and wrist work that may not be something I could play with without way more range hours (which is even harder now in NY). However I've always loved the concept of going "down" into the ground and exploding into the ball! Thank you and your guests as always!

    Hi Brendon you did what Milo said perfectly as I see you used your lead side obliques to start your golf swing . I too am now starting my golf swing with my lead side obliques that I call The Crunch Away Golf Swing. And in the end after watching many of Milo’s great video I think this is what Milo is driving at. Cheers

    A swing thought that I found to help do this is left side under my right right side for the back swing. Then right side under my left side for the downswing.

    I've found a good visual/feeling is to think about having your belt buckle pointing at the ground throughout setup, backswing and just after impact so your spine isn't compressing and rotating.

    Had 1st video in 6 years cos I was striking it so well! What a shocker! I was whipping it inside,cramped and shut! But halfway back right sidebend appeared! and then good leftside and my swing got better and better to impact! Shot 1 over in 1st comp back!
    If you start golf as a sport playing male, chances are you will whip the arms away out of aggression to hit the ball hard. Most great ball strikers started as kids with little arm strength most golfers start as adult males!
    Ive got 2 weeks til next video to sort out what should be the Easiest part of the swing! Im trying to switch off my arms and get shoulders working early with right sidebend. Videos dont lie!

    Oh my gosh. MILO was dead on point when he made the motion on we don't use ground force correctly. I believe he was getting ready to explain and show how to load properly and didn't. Please Milo make or you may have made a video on that but that position you made just after Brandon mention My Swing and you understood what they were talking about is how everyone of the golfers including me look on the tee. Please please do that same motion and explain why that is not the right way of loading into the ground. Man you were right there almost telling us how to load from a motion I see everytime we play golf. Thank you guys you are awesome to want help us out so much. Please keep this up. You help more than you know.

    Great tip on what shoulders are doing during the swing. I have heard that I should set up with my right shoulder lower than the left one when using a driver. Am I correct?

      Yep. And that would be influenced by your grip as one hand is lower than the other. The moral of the story here really, is there is more than one way to a good golf swing

    Ive got relatively short powerful legs and wide hips which I think helps me use them better! If I was long legged slim hipped like bbgolfer I might find this harder to do and suffer from early extension etc PS this is probably the Only advantage in not being long legged and slim hipped!

    Side bend/staying in posture (not humping the goat) is *THE* secret of ball striking. I kinda sorta came to realize its significance on my own. I actually tried to explain it to some of my golf buddies by calling it “the scrunch.” I would tell them to feel like they were trying shove their right elbows towards the target while simultaneously feeling like their right shoulder was compressing in the direction of their right hip (like they were trying to touch them together). I told them it’s practically impossible to scrunch too much. More is better than less. And then I would show them a Trevino swing on my phone. Utterly ridiculous scrunching through impact. Unfortunately, none of them seemed to understand what I was prattling about. And they would still whip my ass on the course.

    Yeah B great video. Man if we could just get you to stay working on your tilts and bends. You felt the problem with the flat shoulder turn at about 4:50. Without the left side bend in the backswing, you go into right tilt/bend too early in the downswing and thats how you get the steep AOA(angle of attack, not necessarily a steep shaft, its two different problems). You might need some additional downswing feels to properly maximize your rotation but this is where you need to stay. There is a great video of Karl Villips that shows this so well. I will try to find it tonight and post the link.

    Ok got wording slightly wrong but what saves me after whipping club inside and stops going massively over the top is my lower body action which helps my shoulders recover to work how milo describes on downswing.Obviously it would be better if I could take club away like Milo describes with my shoulders working better.

    The shortstop has a braced spine because they’re going to b moving. The golf swing is a rotation, axial rotation. The thoracic pivots one direction the lumbar the opposite. U don’t force it, it’s natural. Running, head over landed foot. This is our natural gait. We need staggered feet, our feet are staggered when we walk.

    If your natural posture is to have a lot of anterior tilt do you consciously address the ball in posterior tilt ? Even going to neutral tilt it would be a conscious effort. What do us guys do that have that natural posture?

      One plane is a really stupid thing. Almost no pro is teaching that... they actually want to stay away from that. It is a massive speed killer. Also this instruction in the movie clip has nothing to do with one plane.

    Remember this... a flexed spine is a mobile spine. If you want to increase your turn and ability to bend you need a small amount of flexion. Extension locks the spine.

    When i attempt to add side bend towards the ball on the downswing i get the sensation that im too close to the ground and im often hitting the ground in front of the ball very hard. My jerk reaction to this is i tuck in my arms like a t-rex and i feel like this can't be right. Is there any advice for fixing this issue? Am i doing something completely wrong? Thanks.

      Keep the trail wrist extension and arm bent as you turn through the ball.

      What Golfletics said, but to expand on what he wrote, the question is why is your right arm likely straight at impact and why is your trail wrist not in extension? Without seeing your swing, we can only guess, but with 90% likelihood, you are actively doing something that causes this as a compensation in order for you to 'play golf' - i.e. have a reasonable chance at hitting the fairway and green. That thing you are doing is almost certainly in response to the face of your club being far too open on the way down and you realizing that if you keep turning through the ball without slowing your hands to flip the wrists that the club will be pointed straight right at impact (assuming you're right handed) and thus your arms straighten and you lose all right wrist extension. One of the biggest differences between Pros & Ams is how quickly, early and hard Pros Close / Shut the face at the very top of the downswing (i.e. immediately) and in comparison how slowly, late, and softly Ams get that face square to the spine on the downswing. My advice is to do slow motion practice swings over and over and over (until your brain hurts) and every time check that the face of your club is in the toe down (square or even slightly closed to your spine) at the 2nd parallel coming into impact (the face should also be slightly behind your hands at this position so it is coming from the inside). Only when you can do this, and at full speed, will you be able to use more and more and more right side bend at impact (like all the very top guys who hit it a mile) to further get your hands forward / shaft lean at impact for increased compression and be hitting with a bent right arm and more trailing wrist extension - it all is dependent on getting the club face square to closed as early as possible - and that is why 85% of Ams hit slices with little ball compression for distance - they simply can't do what Pros do because their clubface is wide open on the downswing so all these additional sources of power can't be accessed.

      Had the same issue. A sensation that works well for me is the the clubhead actually gets behind my right shoulder blade and I'm just turning until the ball gets to the ball. You won't actually get the club there but that's what it feels like then i just "tow" the clubhead into the ball with my rotation. The ball flights and compression are tasty!

      I prefer to see you stay level or go down slightly in the back swing but not because your knees are flexing more but because your body is getting a little more bent and the pelvis is getting deeper

    look for Tom Watsons vid where he says he remembers the exact day and time he found the secret to the swing. He says it's when he realized he had to keep his shoulders level through the swing. No tilt.

    3:07 Milo explains the difference between bend and tilt. I've never seen this before! I think he's saying that a bend happens "in the ribs" and a tilt happens at or near the pelvis. Is that right?

    As for my swing, side bending was the key that unlocked the swing. I’m 64 and was a single digit h-capper. I had back surgery about 6 years ago and was unable to practice enough after surgery to keep my swing consistent enough to maintain my h-cap. For the past three weeks I have been trying to change my swing to what Milo teaches with no success. I focused on different areas of the swing to try and make the change. It was when I incorporated the side bend correctly in the swing that towing the club and whipping the club happened. The added benefit was I wasn’t so sore in my back the next day that I couldn’t pick a club up and practice. For the first time in a while I think I may be able to play in the 70’s again.

The move Milo demonstrates at 12:00, that posting up on the trail leg, appears to be the motion that Austin promoted in his lessons (at least post stroke), but I just went and looked at some of his old swing videos and he doesn't appear to actually be doing that... At least not to the degree that he tried to teach.

      I'm confused as well. I had disc problems 40 years ago from doing this, stiff as a board now. I prefer just to turn gently around a slightly tilted spine, not very far. Leave this to youngsters, hope they can afford the surgery.

      It’s the firing up of the pelvis that hurts the players that causes the force and bend to move into the lumbar spine. Baseball players rotate with side bend and I rarely if ever hear of a baseball player hurting their back swinging a much heavier stick.

      That’s a reasonable explanation. But, if some of the best golfers can’t control the pelvis thrust aren’t we older golfers already with limited mobility treading on thin ice?

      @@Bronco-Bill I am a bit past thrusting my pelvis in any direction. These young pros started playing as flexible youngsters, maintain that flexibility for a while with dedicated exercise but it won't last. My own back spasms whenever I look at Joaquin Niemann's impact position. I would want pretty good insurance if I taught that type of position.

    I often wonder how BBG can even play social golf with all the different instruction he's had over the years. Seems to wander around the set as if he's stoned lol...Seems like a nice enough guy but like many of us, he seems to have retained many characteristics of his swing since day 1. You'd have thought that maybe some of the deluge of instruction he's received might have enabled change. I concede it is difficult to make major changes.

      @@arjanpetersen stack and tilt was the first instruction book that it’s primary focus was on weight location and a stable center through the use of inclination and side bends. People made fun of it but a majority of the fundamentals are in the modern day swing. I urge you to read the book. It’s one of the best books written even for a diy golfer

    So having to load your hips gives more power? But if your delivery isnt accurate what's the whole point?
    Changing shape of your body on the way back shouldn't change how you come down but it does. Shouldn't all coaches be teaching golf swings with no backswing? Let the player figure out the connection from transition so they can maximize their downswing.

    Critique, I'm sure a lot of people feel this way, but you drive us nuts. I am unable to watch most of your videos. You ignore who your talking to, wander around, look at camera, for God's sake man just interview them and STAND still. I find it amazing anyone allows you to film and interview a second time. Constantly walking over to see if camera is on drove me away.

      I’ve been waiting for someone to say this. The information is great but you’re right, it’s hard to fully digest the information when I’m distracted on how disrespectful he’s being to the guest. I am not the person on UA-cam to join in or say “negative” things on UA-cam videos but I’ve always noticed this attribute in his videos and felt like it was right to back your comment. As you said, I’m surprised people allow him to interview them. Maybe he will read this and start making adjustments.

    Milo, why have you got that guy with you? He is a pain in the arse, interrupting you all the time while you are trying to explain. Most of this video was wasted by him talking too much and trying his Interpretation of things when you personally could have spent more time demonstrating the side bend more in detail. Get rid of him.
