My Ableton is joking around all the time. I found a good buffer size already and the audio always sounded great if I created a MIDI or imported a sound. But if I try to record, what sounded great for weeks is sometimes randomly starting to crackle for no reason, even if I didn't change any settings. Same thing happens to me🤦🏻♂️ I can’t find the answer anywhere. Buffer size and latency isn’t anything new to me I’ve been making music for years and know exactly how my settings should be . Well, the fix actually works. I'm on Windows, plenty of resources, CPU use on Ableton is no more than 20%, but pops are there sometimes. I use a lot of orchestral tracks, sometimes more than 50 or 60. About the driver, as I'm not recording any instruments or voices, I use ASIO4ALL, it works great for what I do, but to avoid pops when I'm hearing, I have to set buffer size to 1024 samples. Any number lower that that will make noises. I can't explain why I'm having that problem, my CPU is a bit old (i7 7700k 4.20 Ghz) but it's strong enough and I have 48 GB RAM using about 60% and leaving a considerable amount free to use. Every drive I use is SSD. Everything runs smoothly but music reproduction at a lower buffer size than 1024 :(

Hi Will! Always informative and helpful. However, I have sporadic audio crackling that seems unrelated to buffer. All drivers up to date. All power management set to recommendations, The only processing on my tracks is using the Utility to pan drums tracks to Left and right. My CPU never goes above around 14%. And yet, completely randomly, I get crackling which makes using this live for worship extremely nerve-wracking. I've read some about DPC latency, worked in depth with Focusrite and Ableton tech support, as well as Lenovo engineers. I've also replaced my Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter and am planning to replace the Thunderbolt cable tomorrow. I'm not sure what else to do. make sure your first chord isn't before the start point of the clip. That gets me from time to time.
@@fromstudiotostage no it was not that but thanks for the advice , it was a cpu problem I got i resolved
my headphones crack if i use it to listen launchpad
Tested all my Cables, Tested 2 different bas guitars on em. changed sample rates. Cpu's at 10% and I still hear crackling. I'm losing my goddamn mind over this...
Hey... I'm having an issue that you or someone might help me with. I just got a brand new laptop, its an Asus rog zephyrus g14, it's got a ryzen 9, I just upped the ram from 16gb to 24gb. I just got a scarlet 18i8 and I'm trying run external synths into a Mackie mixer. So I've been using an mpcx to sequence everything and it's been used as and audio interface pretty much. When I run the mixer into the mpc everything sounds great but when I plug into the scarlet everything sounds terrible. For example, I'm using a Roland fantom-08 into a strymon time line then into a nightsky. Say if I go direct out from the pedals into the scarlet I got this horrible digital static. It sounds like it's a stereo issue. I've changed buffer size and bit depth and all of that and it's still there. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Having a similar issue. Did you ever find a solution?
I've been having non stop issues, i have an intel i5 (2023), 16 gb ram, nothing overloading in task manager, but i get non stop crackling after a few seconds, chose every single possible combination of sample rate and everything and it still happens.
Im dying for help if anyone has any knowledge. I have the most up to date drivers m-audio offers....do they just suck as audio interfaces and potentially is that where my issue is coming from?
CPU in ableton also steady at 15%....
i would reach out to ableton's support
@@fromstudiotostage im just so lazy when it comes to doing that. My m-audi 2x2m is pretty old, drivers on maudio from 2018. Funniest thing is, on my older PC, never had this issue.
This option is grey out for me. I do not know why? Could you please help?
You likely have to change it in your audio device settings outside of ableton.
@@launchpadmcquack98 Thank you. As in midi cont settings?

I am using Scarlett 2i2 at home and 18i20 on stage. The audio dropouts still happen… and I’m using an M1 MacBook Pro. It’s not only annoying… it’s stressful……

same here, 18i20 / Macbook M1 Pro. Just bought an Arturia MiniFuse4 same thing. Same thing with my previous Macbook, I'm slowly giving up.
@@robert_lippok check out the video I linked in the comments. If you do this on M1 you’ll be fine
@@fromstudiotostage thank you! I'll pray!
Thank you so much for this vid!
Thank you so much mate! This helped a lot.
happy to help!
Hi Will! Always informative and helpful. However, I have sporadic audio crackling that seems unrelated to buffer. I'm using a laptop with 32GB RAM, 2.8Ghz processor, 140GB free space, and using your tracks template to run MultiTracks. My interface is a Focusrite Clarett 8PreX (Thunderbolt). Do you know any one who uses a PC/Laptop for tracks rig who has solved this problem?
try raising your buffer if you're getting audio popping.
Hi, did you solve this eventually? I maybe have a similar problem
@@shacharnovik-5173 Hello! No, I didn't. It seems to be a DPC latency problem that no one could solve. I ended up buying a used MacBook Pro and that runs flawlessly, no issues whatsoever. I'm sure that's not the answer you wanted to hear, but I spent so much time with many professionals to solve the issue, and there still remained a random possibility of it happening, which was too much for my poor nerves to handle in a live setting. ;) Good luck!
Thanks homie
i have an intel 9700K with 32 gb ddr4 ram on 3600Hz. My issue is when playing on midi using a vst plugin I having latancy. Ive tried everything I cannot finish my music since I updated to 11.1.5. Im very dissaponted. when i was using the 11.0.0 was working very well. I cannot finished my song. I thing the problem is with the new update. whatever video Ive watched since , I seen everyone's cpu goes very high.. Mine on sitting now on 42% and still having latency without cracking noise. Its only works when i boost up the sample rate to 98000 and the keep the buffer size on 128-256. this time the cpu clicking other words breaking the celing.
If any of you have a great idea im listening !! Thank you and thanks for the video !!
If you’re having latency you’ll have to drop your buffer till it goes away. It’s a bit of a dance. Low enough for latency, but high enough to avoid audio issues
@@fromstudiotostage Ive tried all options, the midi issue still makes me headaches! BUT, I haven’t tried hooked up the midi cable (not usb) into the UAD Apollo. Might, this way the UAD helps to improve the midi clock.
thanks mate!!
Bro u saved my life
Thank you so so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks man!!!
Funny story: I tried everything and it didn't work, until I realied that I've put a weird noise on the timeline which sounded like a glitch. Ooooops.
Thanks a lot.
You’re welcome!
Thank you !!!!!
After months of f%ing around with ableton I am quiting it FOR ETERNITY. Infinite glitches and never ever in 2 months went something well till the end .
What are you using now? I've been wanting to switch for a while.
I switched to FL studio and never had a single issue, f ableton
Ah I'm just in the trial and I can't change this in there!! Boo
THANK YOU 🙏
You are so welcome
thank u so much
Any apple macbook users facing this issue??
My assumption is this is a windows problem
Thank you
You're welcome
NO! DOES NOT WORK
you fked me up mate..... it was better before.. now that i raised it, it fked it up when its low.... and i get latency issues.. and pops more now. and when its low it fucks up even more! im cut... u owe me a mac
Buddy problem number 1 is your using a MacBook or Apple computer - shitty operating system, over priced hardware, not enough ports and not much you can upgrade - I'm still using my my old computer I built over 8 years ago, can run over 50 tracks with no pops or glitches and it never crash's - Cheers!
awesome!
nice
This literally doesnt help at all. Everytime you play any sound on ableton no matter what it is, its too fucking quiet. Macbook should never be used for music production as it is WEAK AS FUCK.
Ten thumbs down
Lovely thanks mate
My pleasure!
