hilarious intro, that’s exactly where i was with it! 😹working on a massive project that’s been glitching terribly 😖 this video helped drop my cpu substantially + i can finally get back in my flow! thanks 🙏🏾✨
Thank you sir! The most helpful point for me was probably the group EQ part, where in I also automated the 'device on' segment so that the effects and someof the heavier plugins like Swam and Omnisphere in my set don't take up too much cpu space. Plus exporting the audio files is also an effective way to save space I noticed something which I'll like to add - while performing with the band, I switched from the Arrangement view to the Session view since it saves on a bit of graphic space that my cpu was using!
I use a 2013 Macbook Pro and ever since 2015 with newer plugins being more and more CPU intensive i've had to freeze tracks more with each project. But it seems a lot worse in Live 11. For instance, running a drum VST like Drumforge Savior or Bergstrand (2 amazing sounding drum VSTs) will take up minimum 40% of CPU in Live VS 10% in Reaper. Both with 512 sample buffer size. It's the same thing for modern guitar amp plugins, like those from Neural DSP and STL Tones, which will take about 20% CPU each in Live VS 5-7% in Reaper, with a 128 sample buffer size.
Just bought neural DSP archetype rabea and it sends cpu up to 114 if it’s the only plug-in I’m using. I’ve tried on 2 PCs with the same issue so it’s not my PC :/ I’m just going to run cubase free trial and buy that instead..
What should I do if the Ableton has never lagged or crashed, but now it just started lagging and crashing very hard, not even allowing to record a voice track?
You can freeze tracks that are muted or if it's not changing while it's playing (i.e. midi input). You can freeze tracks instead of making them low quality. Also you should change your project settings to be 44.1/48kHz with 16-bit audio, since you are doing extra processing that no one can physically hear (especially since you are are hearing raw audio, there is no bittrate reduction). It is not possible to hesr sounds above 20kHz, and the vast vast majority of people cannot hear more than 16-17kHz
how much space should there be on my computer 256 ssd the remaining space is 29 gb on my computer. If I install my plugins on external ssd, can my problem be solved if I empty the computer?
In my case I know I need a new MacBook Pro for the only 2 cores to run My new generation VST's Acb tech & so on..so looking for the new M1 chip sets but jusr the ports limitations in Mac chassis to me..maybe 2015 mid is the choice.
Hello, thank you for this video but I come to you because I unfortunately have a problem with Live 11 that I cannot resolve. I'm running on a MAC Intel i7 16 GB of RAM and 512 SD and I recently had to download free plugins, and since then there is an unexplained CPU overload every time I launch a project in Live 11 (plus a project composed mainly of audio loops created in Maschine 2 that I generally use as plugins for my beats, but I'm used to doing heavier sessions than that I've always managed, in fact it's even my workflow , I even did an update of the mac but nothing, so I uninstalled all the free plugins that I had just downloaded, I have the impression in the CPU view that my mac is working hard in an unexplained way, I am therefore obliged to abandon live 11 the DAW according to my heart to fall back on another Daw in which there is not as much CPU overload, I don't know if you understand a little of what is happening to me, it's to say if you see what is happening because I understand absolutely nothing about it except that I suspect of having caught a Trojan horse (bitcoin) but I try to launch cleanmymac but it does not see anything, so if you can explain to me a little what is happening...please help me
what happened to Ableton Live? it was trending in the industry since 10 years a lot of friends i know having the same issues when they updated to Live 11
Don't know, used a i7 2600k with 32GB ram and a clean Windows 10 LTSC, everything optimized, all crap removed and performing great. Stuff is more than 12 years old and doesn't cause any trouble. Now on a 7900x AMD and this thing is insane stupid fast, again on Win10 LTSC and everything clean, right configured.
thx for the video, i just dont understand how ableton work.... i have often cpu above 150%.... i have a amd ryzen 4600H, 6 core/12 thread, 3.0Ghz when i use ableton, my computer use "only" 30% of the whole cpu, ableton use 20%, but i have 70% cpu that are not use... maybe ableton is not multithreaded with amd cpu
You shouldn't have to do any of that I never touched anything in ableton you pc or laptop is old and if you up grade from windows 7 to windows 10 your new up grade is running old programs that don't work on windows 10 and using up resources you gonna have to find them and uninstall them also you gonna have to remove windows 10 bloatware like kitana, all Xbox app, Skype etc. You shouldn't have to adjust ableton at all .
Hi, thanks for your input. Correct, try to avoid anything away from the DAW that might slow down the computer. Nevertheless, with larger projects, your PC may reach its CPU limits. These tips will help you finish the project anyway.

That was the quickest video I’ve ever give a like to, brilliant intro😂👏👏
i got a fan under my laptop and some boxes to put it on, that really helped my computerpower
johan karlsson nice to hear 🙌🏻

Freezing tracks is a lifesaver, helped me finish my LP on logic, helping me even more on Ableton. Great tips man! 🤘
Happy to hear that
The intro with the smoke! Ahahahaha, why did I almost check my cables?
That intro with the smoke made me giggle, thanks mate!
It was a really simple, clear, helpful, efficient and understandable video. thanks a lot!

Really useful video. Thanks man.
it even can make the audio interface disconect if latency to low happend 1 time at really low has this happend to u ?
finally, no more fuzzy noise at the drop

Ableton freeze only when i'm high.
As inspiration come, ableton freeze...

I have a problem, i want to fix low cpu usage, it's always at 1-2% with all plugin loaded in
what's the difference with using the A reverb track than make a new one?
nice toturial , i dont have to do any freezing tracks with my 16 core/32 threads ryzen 5950x :D
Nice man 🙌🏻
My computer is crashing even when im trying to open a project that is above 3000 KB. Not sure if its my laptops capabilities or what?...
my friend's M1 max CPU on Ableton projects reaches 28% CPU. Do you think that's normal?
Hard to say, I don't know your friend's project size. What I have noticed is that the M1s are performing excellently.
This video was very helpful👍🏼🙏🏼
thanks a lot :)
thank you
Thank you, this video is helpful.
Thanks man!!
Thanks for the tutorial brother!
you're welcome :)

Haha thanks 🙌🏻
I like Ur videos,keep doing.
Cezar G thanks a lot 🙌🏻
Ha, I love the smoke!
Thank you so much :)
V11 is a total fuster cluck. Why so many switched to Bitwig 4.
thank you so much
You‘re welcome 🙌🏻
Not me overloading my track with plugins and routing before learning about efficient workflow...
Bless
🙌🏻
For some reason freezing always does nothing to my CPU. Totally useless feature 😬😅
I just did an ABLETON PC, $750 Windows 10, computer build ...
* B450 (Socket AM4) ATX Motherboard (with lots of USB3 ports).
* AMD RYZEN 5 3600 (6 cores x 12 threads @ 3.8Ghz (+any OC) .
* 32GB (8GB x 2 sticks) of 288-pin DDR4 3200 (Cas 16) memory.
* 512GB or 1TB Western Digital Black NVMe Gen3 x4 M.2 SSD.
* nVidia (based) 1650 GTX GPU with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM
* EVGA 500W~650W "FLUID DYNAMIC BEARING (silent) FAN".
* ATX Case.
* Mechanical KB with individually assignable RGB LED Keys.
* 48 inch 4K TV (must have "game" or "PC" or "Computer" mode).
phrankus2009 sounds good! How does it perform?
Wish there was an English version
I once got 144% charge of CPU, that´s probably a Guiness World record
I got 1442% cpu usage cause I open 3 serum fx in a group and some Waves plugins ☠️ Ableton optimization is really weak compared others DAWs
@@suadivamaya i just got 2039% after using 6 pitchmap and 1 serum in a project wtf
🤣🤣🤣
its fucking weird we need cpu at all.
🙌🏻
Ableton is not well optimized.
im starting to hink ableton just sucks lol I have the fastest computer u can buy and i can still barely make a track SLOW SLOW SLOW!
