- In this short tutorial I show you how to map a second bass drum to your hi hat pedal on the Alesis Nitro Mesh. There's no need for a double kick drum pedal. Get a Nitro Mesh here amzn.to/31fN25D

Keep up the great work. I just got my nitro mesh kit yesterday for Christmas and let me tell you something I never built a kit more faster in my life I was so excited to get started
So great, man. Thanks for this video. I waited forever to decide on an electronic drum kit because I wanted double bass. I saw your video back in November and got the same kit. I'm having a blast playing some speedy, metalcore songs because of this vid. Peace man
Thank you! Just got this kit last week and I'm still tinkering around with it. Loving it!
Thanks man! You just saved Christmas.
He saved my Christmas too
RoccoE4 the hi hat gets messed up
Rohan Gamester yeah it’s definitely not perfect but it works ok.
Almost one year later he does it again
What a GREAT idea..... I just did it and I love it. I also changed my actual hi-hat setting to be closed all of the time without needing to press the controller pedal.... Thanks for sharing this.
How can you save a closed hi hat, i don't know how to do that, thanks
Hell yeah. To the point ,very clear. Just got this kit month ago. Thx
Alesis Nitro Mesh on its way in a couple of days. Glad i found you. The ride and the double bass are great!
Thanks! This is great info!
Dude...your videos are a HUGE help. Influenced me to get the alesis over the donner. Keep the videos coming and rock on :)
Thank you!!!!
My drums is on my way and I was wondering about duble kick drum and you explore me a secret that we can set double kick on hit hat so I dont need to get extra pedal! So glad I found you!:)
it works like trash
@@sambt123what he says in the video didn't work for you?
Great guide, much appreciated.
Bro THANK YOU for this video. I am learning drums and was so initially disappointed I couldn’t do double kick on this kit. But now I can!
I just got my new drum kit after using a double bass aon acoustic and haven't put it together yet and I didn't know how I should do the double bass on an edrum until I saw this video. Thx so much!!
Man, thanks a lot. This cure in a tiny bit my depression. Thanks again.
Thank you so much!! Now I found out how to do so much stuff with my drum kit now! Thank you!!
All your videos are so helpful and informative🥁🎼thanks bro
Rock on!
Been looking online at $150 kick pedals but I just found this you’re a legend great idea
Really helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much I bought this kit just a couple days ago, and bought a dw double kick and it was too big for the pad hitting plastic like crazy.
glad to help
Tape layers of different sizes of cardboard on the kickdrum, from smaller to larger. It doesnt look good but it works
@@viktor2915 sir can you please show us how to do this? It'll be of great help
Had the same problem, went with custom kits as well
Really nice video, thanks for sharing :D
I have the same kit. Can't wait to get a double kick pedal
Very informative! I just got the nitro mesh special edition in a used demo model and I didn’t get a manual so I’m learning!
this is great. thank you
🔥Mine just came in the mail and I have it all set up, and thanks for this! I might return it for an upgraded kit 🤔
Thanks bro, your awesome 💯
Holy crap thank you so much for this
Oh my, thank you so much!
Thank you so much man, you answered my question! :)
Awesome! Thanks bro
No problem!
Can't believe I didn't think of that, thanks
Dude holy shit i love you thank you
You’re a genius thank you
fantastic!!!
Many thanks!!
Thank you!!
THANK YOU!!
Dude you made my day. I never read the manual. Thanks bud
So helpful
Right on man ..great video
Glad you enjoyed
First the "real" manual, and now this! You have surely been cutting the Nitro trail for us. Thank you for this awesome freebie! I have been using Addictive Drums 2 and it resolves the hi-hat pedal issues with its excellent midi-mapping. I can't bear the Alesis samples...lol
Happy to help!
If you have access to a second kick pedal plug it into the jack for Tom 4 and you can use your hihat pedal for hihat again.
Thank you very much and rock on! 😎🤘
Thank you too!
Great tip! I have this kit and an actual double petal and it has been a bit of a struggle. I have the beaters as close as I can get them and neither one strike the center of the pad enough to get the full trigger of a single petal. I have spent hours trying to get it just right and I have it as even as possible. What I did is turned up the sensitivity and the volume of the bass pad to even it out with the rest of the kit. Works great now. So if you do go for the double petal, keep this in mind. Also for you and anyone reading this, this kit works great with Reason 10 and 11 with the Kong Drum Machine and the Reason Drums rack extensions. I did have to adjust the pad sensitivity to get a more “real” sound for rolls and ghosts.
Can you please tell me how to do that?
@@sebquintero7484 "What I did is turned up the sensitivity and the volume of the bass pad to even it out with the rest of the kit. "
Thank you for this comment! I have reason 10 now because of school and was not sure if my kit would work with it. Great to know.
Can you post the settings you used?
Thanks.
@@prdsatx4467 If you talking about the double bass pad settings, I believe I had the sensitivity up all the way and the volume as well. I'm not 100% sure if that was the setting, as I'm using a completely different setup now with the Alesis 8" mesh bass pad from the surge kit. I found it used for cheap. I would recommend that if you can find one. I was fed up with the nitro bass pad with my double petal.
Thanks!
Thnx a lot for the tip bro u nailed it ✌️
Thanks a lot !!!!
I'm so grateful that we bought the same set 😅
Me too for $130 lol
You are a damn hero
I bought a double bass pedal and a kick tower, both from Millenium and that's a great solution!
Good idea!
OF COURSE!!! Why didn’t I think of that!!!
I love this idea.
It has inspired me to plug the bass pedal from my old Roland kit into the input for Tom 4.
I wouldn't want to use the hihat pedal because it seems kind of flimsy and not likely to stand up to such heavy use. I suspect using it as a kick pedal would break it fairly quickly.
But, yeah, I am very thankful for your videos on editing kits in the module.
omg, thank you so much, I was driving crazy thinking to buy a regular double bass you save me to save money on that
Glad I could help!
My hero! You just made me quarantine
Why? Because the video was sick?
John Krasnavage Hahahaha!!!
Thanks for the tip. This was the deciding factor for me whether or not to buy this kit. Now I can have dbl bass w/out having to buy dbl pedals on a cool inexpensive kit 😀
I found an excellent way to do double bass on the Nitro Mesh kit. I bought a 2nd identical Alesis kick pad tower & pedal cheap, then hooked it up via a "mono" 1/4 inch 2-way splitter to have double bass. Seeing as both share an input, they have the exact same settings, as well. It works so much better than my double pedal did, as the beaters weren't hitting the pad in the center enough to work that good. The 2nd tower has been working wonders, however, for over a year.
cool!
@@demonicsweaters Also, I heard the using the hi hit pedal isn't a good idea, because the spring is only a smaller single spring, or so I've seen in another video. But a 2nd Alesis kick tower pad only ran me around $70. eBay seller drumsrus usually always has one, and if not, he restocks. Then a mono 1/4 inch Y splitter works, or hooking it to Tom 4. I have a 1 male to 2 female Y splitter, mono, not stereo.
Thanks dude
Holy shit this is good to know!
All my electric kits except my roland td27, my double bass pedals NEVER worked. Ever. If I went faster only one of them would register the sound. You. Are. A. Life. Saver.
Thanks for the tip. This was my deciding factor on whether or not to buy this kit. Now I can have dbl bass on this cool inexpensive kit without having to buy dbl kick pedals 😀
Thankyou sooooo much!!!!!! Can you adjust the kick drum? I’m new at all this I have the surge
Thanks for posting! I tried this same cool trick with my Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit. It works amazing except I don't know how to double kick. I know. Shame on me. Heheh
One other thing I did was changing my snare rim sound to a Splash Cymbal. That really helped me out.
Thanks a lot man, I was looking for a bigger pad for my Nitro mesh, it´s unnecessary now. Greetings from Colombia.
Thank you. This is very useful for my son. He's wanna try double bass drum
Glad to help
I bought this kit bundled with the pdp 502 double bass pedal, from Sweetwater. It arrived yesterday. I think I still would have bought a dbp for it anyway, even if I would have watched this first, it seems awkward having different pads being assigned to different sounds and I think it would have messed with my ocd lol
I've an extra bass drum pedal and bass drum pad stand so, can I reprogram either the extra Crash jack input or the Tom 4 jack input at the back of sound module to a bass drum sound? thanks.
Dude! Thank You Brother I appreciate this video, thumbs up and subbed man, stay groovy brah ;)
Thanks a lot from Bangladesh
If anyone ever uses the hi hat as a second bass like me and they’re hearing hi hat sound I just isolated the sound during settings and turned the volume all the way down on it, bam easy peasy lol. Happy jamming everyone!
Just change the sample from a HH closing to a kick sample
@evil kava any guitar amp or bass amp I suggest over 25 watts
I have used the bass pedal from my old Roland kit and plugged it into the back of the module where it says Tom 4. Feels perfect and only triggers one sound.
@evil kava I used to use a little amp but for the last 8 months or so I’ve been just using headphones and the isolated sound is the best in my opinion.
Brilliant hack
Dude, how do yo conect Your kit drums to Your pc or your phones? Im getting such a minimun volumen... ☹️
Thanks dood!
Yes! I was hoping you could just make the high hat into another bass pedal
Will this develop any bad habits for when I invest in an actual double kick pedal?(like responsiveness on an acoustic kit). I'm just learning drums solely for studio recording but it would be nice to be able to get a gig or two a few years down the line on drums. I'm still working on upping my speed on a single kick.
Hi, I’ve just started learning and is it possible to do real fast double bass beats with the HHC? I just feel like it cant go that fast
for the primary kick drum that uses an actual kick pedal and kick drum tower, could that be switched for a hi-hat pedal? in my current apartment, the neighbors say the kick drum makes too much noise as though im thumping against the shared wall. I am wondering if i can switch the kick drum/pedal for a hi hat pedal to circumvent this issue
Hi, how can you save a drum kit with a closed hi hat all the time to be able to play the double drums? Thanks
My pedal needs to be pressed rather hard to register a sound. i did tinker with the sensitivity and whatnot, but is there anything other than taking the thing apart that i can do? really dont want to get a dbl bass pedal just to find it doesnt fit the pad.
Nevermind, I found your video on my question 🤪 thanks again!
What if I wanted to add a second kick drum tower + pedal? Is that possible?
thank u so much
I love this drum set. Teaching my fiancé on it and it’s made it way easier lol
You saved me a few hundred bucks lol I was going to buy the slave pedal with drive shaft but now I can just do this 🙏 I have the same exact drum kit aswell lol
Nope it’s sloppy, you can’t play constant doubles and also a regular double kick doesn’t work with it
What chord do you use to plug in the high hat pedal
just bought th kit today !! i have a question, i succesfully putthe bass drum on the hh pedal .... but now my hh pedal shut the hh and play BD at the same time LOL . how do i fix that and how i can make my hh always shut without pedal ?
btw love your video, always clear, no fuss no muss, straight to the point ! keep the good work my friend!
is it easier with the trigger kick instead of a mallet?
Youre a genius
Just bought this for my nephew and I wanna buy him a double bass pedal but this is genius for now
omg thank you sooooooooooo much from the bottom of my bass
hello im planning to but this kit, does it make a lot of nice?I mean it's still a lot of hitting))Thanks
Can you configure this on the alesis Turbo kit?
How long have you been using that nitro?
thanks
my hi hat doesent convert when i put it on the same number as my bass kick..what do i do?
does it have something to do with ezdrummer?
Thx
Can you share your drum kit setting or guide me to them please?
Omg I really can’t believe I didn’t think of that ! Lmao thanks 🙏🏼
cool !
When i program the hi hat pedal to the bass drum sound, i still get some hi hat sounds out of it, anyway around this?
You can get it out by pushing very bottom of the hi hat pedal and you will get some number and then set the hi hat sound to the drum pedal you want to, it’s that simple
Hey! Have recently set up my kit (first time drummer, 2 months in) but having trouble as getting double hits with one kick of the bass pedal. The beater is bouncing off the pad. Any idea how to adjust the spring tension other than turning the top ‘bolt’, which seems to make no difference? The bottom spring bolt doesn’t budge, even using pliers. Thanks in advance!
If you're getting double hits from the pedal bouncing you just need to learn to control your foot better. Spring tension is mostly personal preference.
Bro I just bought this tonight for $130..and was gonna get a double bass pedal...not anymore lol well not right away thanks man
What headphones? Are they good?
Hi Justin. Great channel man. I just want to check, when you use a double kick pedal on the tower are there drop off issues due the sensor being centered and being quite small? I really want to use my double kick and not to keen on the hi hat pedal as my second kick.
I have used the bass pedal from my old Roland kit and plugged it into the back of the module where it says Tom 4. Feels perfect.
