I think there is a strong argument that Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus of Nazareth. Mary Magdalene represents the church - a prostitute and unfaithful lover. But Christ redeems her. I’ve read that this marriage between them was a royal marriage since Jesus came from the bloodline of David and Magdalene came from the bloodline of Benjamin. And if the story is true, Mary was with child when Jesus was crucified and fled, accompanied by James the brother of Jesus. And she gave birth to the child, who was dark skinned and named Sarah, meaning princess. The Roman/Latin Catholic Church allowed priests to marry and have families for the first thousand years of it's existence. Also realize that the Catholic Church isn't just Roman. It also consits of 23 other rites from around the world, some of which still allow their priests to marry. The Byzantine Catholic Church for example still allows their priests to marry. This is something the Roman Catholic Church can always change back. I have a feeling that some day they won't have much of a choice.
St. Paul says celibacy is preferred for the clergy in the BIBLE. 1 Corinthians 7:1-7 To the OP, very true, it is a discipline and can be removed. They do make exceptions for some people in the Latin Rite.
The Catholic Church preserved, compiled, translated, chose the books to include and declared the Bible canon in 382 under Pope Damasus at the Council of Rome. Jesus didn’t leave us a Bible but He did leave us a church (Matthew 16:18).
@@SpP-gv5wr You're referencing Matthew 6:5-6, where Jesus instructs us not to pray like hypocrites who seek attention by praying loudly in synagogues or on street corners. The key point is about intention-Jesus is teaching humility and sincerity in prayer, not forbidding public worship or prayer in churches. The Bible affirms the value of worshiping together as a community. Hebrews 10:25 says, 'Do not neglect to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encourage one another.' Early Christians gathered for worship, as seen in Acts 2:42 and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. The Catholic Church follows this biblical tradition, emphasizing both communal worship and private prayer.
At the first millennium of the Church (pre-schism), there were women deacons and the talk to revive the institution is alive from time to time. Nuns in the Orthodox Church are equal completely to their male counterparts and in fact in Orthodoxy men and women are completely equal in the faith. There’s no distinction. In fact, our most venerated person after Christ is His mother.

Priests are servants of the church and spiritual shepherds, not leaders in any political sense. There’s bishops are successors of the Apostles and the liturgical function of the church is literally modelled and a continuation of the worship at the Temple and the Synagogues. Christianity is the direct successor of the Second Temple Judaism.
Oh dear, I feel sorry for the guy asking questions, he sounds incoherent, immature, an intellectual imp. Have questions prepared before you make a fool of yourself.
I’m no defender of Rome. But to say that only Catholic Priests have an issue with grotesque sexual abuse is so false… And, to say that the reformation gave women a more prominent role??? I lost a little respect for Wes’ historical understanding of the matter. Look at all the great women saints/doctors of the church…. Look at the failed theologian named Martin Luther who started the revolt. Look at the current stats on women in Christian leadership roles within the Catholic Church and within Protestantism. It’s ok to say that priests ought to be male. It’s ok to say that corruption is rampant everywhere. It’s ok to say that the woman leadership within Protestantism has watered down Christianity… You are best when you research. I advise that you do.
There is order to creation. What ever position you find yourself in do your best in that position. Regardless. Angel, human, male, female, children, animals. If you are in a senior position. It is for the intended purpose of bettering the life of those around you, from a broad perspective. If you are in a lower position. Better the life of those more immediately around you. There is a lot of detail to this. It is a theme echoed throughout the Bible. Also, woman represent all of humanity. While men represent God, or fallen angels. Depending on context.
Because church established males only priests succession and was threatened by a woman priestess. A woman should stay silent inside the church and not even speak. If she had to say something she should speak to her husband back home. A woman like Mary Magdalene with followers was dangerous. Its obvious from the gospel of Mary
The answer about the two Marys really threw him off. Then rambled about sex. As for thirty year old dudes not married, how do you know? Does the literature really delve into marriage statistics? Look at the world, theirs a lot of single dudes.
Celibacy is absolutely Biblical and St. Paul says it can help the Bishop in his vocation. 1 Corinthians 7:1-7 so...there's that. It's like Wes in every one of these clips has 1 statement that is just straight false (usually at the expense of the Catholic Church unsurprisingly). Seems to be a bias he can't look past.

150:2.2 (1680.1)It was at Magdala that the women first demonstrated their usefulness and vindicated the wisdom of their choosing. Andrew had imposed rather strict rules upon his associates about doing personal work with women, especially with those of questionable character. When the party entered Magdala, these ten women evangelists were free to enter the evil resorts and preach the glad tidings directly to all their inmates. And when visiting the sick, these women were able to draw very close in their ministry to their afflicted sisters. As the result of the ministry of these ten women (afterward known as the twelve women) at this place, Mary Magdalene was won for the kingdom. Through a succession of misfortunes and in consequence of the attitude of reputable society toward women who commit such errors of judgment, this woman had found herself in one of the nefarious resorts of Magdala.
Women in the church: - Real basic - Titus and Timothy spell out the qualifications of a priest, i.e. "male" - next question, why are men selected for the role of priest? Back to Genesis 2, Adam (first priest) is made to provide and protect, which are the exact Hebrew roles given to the priests later at the Tabernacle and Temple - So, duties of priests, include the ability to provide and protect (from danger). Are women wired/designed/created to provide and protect? - Obviously, the average man is capable of protecting better than the average woman. The next question is does that ability to physically protect apply to spiritual protection? Yes, it does, because a fight is a fight, whether physical, emotional or spiritual Huff didn't do a very good job on this topic. Less than impressed by his handling of this. Expected more. That is why men and women are equal but different ! Life can not continue with out both! The man fertilized that seed and will protect that life and both will teach to have the ultimate relationship with Jesus and in his name be fruitful
Mary Magdalene was the woman who had 7 demons within her and Jesus Christ cast the demons out of her. She wasn't a prostitute. Jesus was both fully human and fully God. Jesus reason for being here on earth was to spread the Father's message of Salvation. Then He fulfilled His purpose on earth He volunteered Himself up to the cross and died on the cross. He said in His last words by saying "It is finished". Then 3 days later, Jesus arose from the tomb, alive so that we serve a living God. And for the Catholics in the crowd, the Roman Church didn't start Christianity, the Jewish Christian Church was the first. The Roman Church which is now known as the Catholic Church was started 300 years after Jesus Christ was crucified, arose and was taken up into Heaven.

There are thousands of married Catholic priests in the church today. It’s a discipline, not a doctrine or Dogma. Btw- Jesus was celibate and the priest is a model of Christ.
The notion that Jesus is celibate is somewhat unwise because he didn't live out his life, there might not have been a mention of a woman or wife in his life because women were not considered particularly noteworthy except in certain instances to accentuate something about him. But let us assume for the moment that he was unmarried are we going to say that he didn't experience all the things that men do? What happens when you're about 12 or 13 in your sleep? What happens when you see someone that's attractive? We have emasculated him all because somebody in a culture far removed from our own thousands of years ago have problems with human sexuality. We did the same thing the mother Mary we essentially socially neutered her by making her pure in violet never a passionate thought which is contrary to what was expected of Jewish women which was to bear children. You don't get that by laying on your back staring up in the space because of God made procreation and it was good he didn't intend for you to be bored
@@gil9898 Having Attractions and temptations are not sins. Acting on them in an immoral manner is. Both Jesus, Blessed Mary and St. Joseph remained chaste and pure. In Christ the command to "be fruitful and multiply" has NOTHING to do with sexual reproduction, but spiritual reproduction of children, whether such children be old and gray. . "You must be born again" is a declaration that all born through sexual reproduction in the lineage of Adam does not make one a child of God no matter how "good." Death came through Adam via sexual reproduction - genetics. Life comes only from the One sent as a "second Adam", born by the power of the Spirit (no seed of Adam) to redeem those born under the curse of the first. If this is true, and it is, sexual intercourse simply for multiplying children under the curse of Adam seems counterproductive. There are enough multiplicationis already, even among divided Christian denominations sowing confusion, that need to be spiritually reproduced in the image of the Son of God before more are reproduced simply to wreak havoc in the earth as the sons of Adam have always done.
By removing the words christ, god and adam, your reply would be considered rambling of a crazy person. The problem with all three judeo religions is you have to believe ancient Hebrews. Undeniably historically liars.
Has nothing to do with sexual reproduction ? It's called marriage .You too are in line showing deflective anurisims to confuse . Adam was a child of God . That is our ancestor . Born Again is for those who have never been or have left the flock .

The Catholic Church teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary (a woman) is the greatest of all creatures. And St. Mary Magdalene is a great Saint.
100% convinced about something he has no evidence for.
Anyone see Billy Carson get frustrated and leave when he and Wes had a conversation on another podcast? Pretty funny
Julian Dory really a surface understanding and sounds like he did Google searches.
Why can’t modern students of the Jewish writings understand how the creator and the father work to save both the chosen and the beneficiaries of the plan !? So ignorant, so ignorant. Is my arm short that I can not save?

It’s ok to say that the woman leadership within Protestantism has watered down Christianity…
You are best when you research.
Mary was Greek. From a religious family and she would preach. She met John the Baptist and travelled with him, eventually meeting Jesus.
Julian, you need to speak with Jimmy Akin if you want to know how the Catholic logic works- it does all tie back to biblical teachings. Full disclosure- I am catholic but very against Rome and the Vatican. My family is predominantly Protestant.

Women in the church:
- Real basic - Titus and Timothy spell out the qualifications of a priest, i.e. "male"
- next question, why are men selected for the role of priest? Back to Genesis 2, Adam (first priest) is made to provide and protect, which are the exact Hebrew roles given to the priests later at the Tabernacle and Temple
- So, duties of priests, include the ability to provide and protect (from danger). Are women wired/designed/created to provide and protect?
- Obviously, the average man is capable of protecting better than the average woman. The next question is does that ability to physically protect apply to spiritual protection? Yes, it does, because a fight is a fight, whether physical, emotional or spiritual
Huff didn't do a very good job on this topic. Less than impressed by his handling of this. Expected more. He dropped the ball
That is why men and women are equal but different ! Life can not continue with out both! To give birth is the closest to God as a women will get she brought a new life a child of the Lord into this world!
That’s false about the Catholic church.
@Ziiphyr Do your research and you will find out the truth. The Roman Church was started by the Roman Emperor 3 centuries after Christ died on the cross and arose again and then was taken up into Heaven. Look it up.

Do you have your moms last name Julian?
That’s not to say they didn’t have attractions or temptations. Many Saints have lived this way. Jesus is the groom and the church His bride- thus He would never marry a woman. Blessed Mary was a Temple Virgin until the age of 13 when she received her period she had to leave the temple but she remained a consecrated Virgin.

In Christ the command to "be fruitful and multiply" has NOTHING to do with sexual reproduction, but spiritual reproduction of children, whether such children be old and gray. . "You must be born again" is a declaration that all born through sexual reproduction in the lineage of Adam does not make one a child of God no matter how "good."
Death came through Adam via sexual reproduction - genetics.

Evodius was the person who coined the term “Christian.” Traditon says Ignatius was one of the children Jesus Blessed in scripture.

Celibacy is the final state of humanity because Jesus says we will neither marry or be given in marriage, we are all going to be celibate in the next life. So celibacy is conforming yourself to the future reality we are all aiming at. Jesus indicates celibacy is a gift. A gift that should be accepted if it’s yours. Jesus, Paul, and Timothy were all celibate.
Jesus Christ is God The Father in the flesh. HE is Devine. that is exactly what the Bible says. Marriage is reserved for Christ ONLY. It is an eternal thing.
Christ never leaves HS Bride.....though the Bride may cheat on HM by serving idol gods.
Here's the thing...if no greater love is this: Than a man lay down his life for his friends...or put another way, a brother soldier give his life for his brothers life...
Why would an Almighty Creator God The Only Father in Heaven, send HIS Son to die for our sins. Wouldn't HE have to come down here Himself and die on the cross as The Sacrifice, to cover our sins? That is exactly what The Bible says HE did.( EL The Almighty God made Himself flesh and dwelt among us). In the form of who? The One and Only Messiah Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
John 1:14
14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
So here is what we have:
