I am SOOO happy you listened to our feedback after the wonderful interview with the 106 year old woman. These long interviews with the older generations are living history and absolutely incredible to listen to. I think you found a little niche to delve further into!
My mom is 90 and I've been filming her for the last couple of years talking about life. It's really fascinating actually. My mother looks as good as this woman, drives around goes to dinner, goes to the theater. She's really doing very well.
Maybe Mark would interview her? Mine just turned 88, born in rural Utah in the same small hospital room as her own mother, after her mother's mother went West from Arkansas right after the Civil War when her husband was shot to death (by his son-in-law) in a fight over illegal whiskey dealing.
I did a double take when I saw her - she so reminded me of my own mom who passed away at 89 three years ago. Cuban woman who woke up every morning and did her makeup “for herself and to not worry her 5 daughters”. She was just as beautiful as this woman. Had been through school of hard knocks but refused to be a victim. Tough as nails and somehow always managed to do the right thing. RIP Mami, your light shines bright in all of us!

Thank you for another great interview with a classy educated compassionate person. My mother just turned 94 this year, she's still driving, thriving and has fabulous stories about old L.A. that most people have never heard about.
My Great Grandmother Pearl who lived to 102 was like this in her 90's. She would go on road trips up to Seattle with her friends, managed a large flower garden, and was an excellent conversationalist. I miss her.

All four of my grandparents were extremely depressed once they hit this type of age. Like somebody buy me a gun depressed. It’s really lovely to see somebody this age full of life and happy to have made it that far.
Gotta keep moving, socialising, learning, stay curious, keep up with world events, engage with complexity, get out the house. My grandma is 85 and yeah, she's been depressed for a long time, but she retired 20 years ago and basically never did anything new, challenging or outside her routine. Just sat at home expecting her children to run around after her, nagging them into resentment.
Not just money but also a family that loves her and very importantly she has her health. That said I know she’s in pain. I can see the arthritis damage in her hands.
How sad. I never went anywhere with my son where we didn’t stop by and see if gram wanted to go with us. She was so funny and fun ti he with, my son loved spending time with her. She helped to raise him and was such a huge part of our lives. Things are so different, most just can’t be bothered. Can’t wait to see how they turn out when they get old. Ask your elders about their lives, people. They have wonderful stories and perspectives to listen to. My grandma is 94 and I love listening to her talk about her life growing up on a farm, her parents, raising 6 kids, all of it. I learn something new every time I ask her a question that triggers a new conversation, and they’re not going to be around forever.

There is so much to be learned from them!!! My favorite ones were always ladies like this one. The makeup, the hair the clothes!!! I always enjoyed helping them get ready for their day and listening to them tell their stories as I curled their hair!! I have an entire photo album of pics and their memorial leaflets from their funerals. I’ve lost so many of them down through the years and each time I lost one of them it was like losing my mama!! Not all of them were great but the nasty , mean ones were very few. I had 1 lady that was just filthy rich and mean as a rattlesnake!! As a child and later as an adult, I knew several "contemporaries" of Rita from the Los Angeles of the 1930s. Each was (in their own way) marvelous at telling their stories about those times (and places). The name Earle C. Anthony featured prominently in many of their recollections but the cast of 'other characters' who crossed paths in their lives was immense. Rita is a gem. Thanks for this precious time with her. It was a stroll down memory lane. Bless you Rita.
Thank you . I have worked in health care all my life and meeting people and learning about them, espcially the older ones has been nothing short of a genuine gift. I have met a man who was on the first attack of Normandy and so many others. Our stories are all so similar…. Fighting to survive , love and be happy. Grandchildren are the second greatest gifts.
You remind me so much of my paternal grandmother. Your tenacity. Your elegance and panache. My grandmother like all my grandparents lived through the great depression, WW2 and many other struggles just like you. My paternal grandmother like you is drop dead gorgeous. South Africa is very different and yet very much the same as the USA. Blessings from Sue South Africa ❤
Rita, you're marvelous! Your recollection at 7-9 years old during the war was amazing, especially about your relatiomship with your father, and the telling story of the Germans who lived above you. You're a facinating woman who values your family and career life! Thank you for sharing your story, you're a classy lady! ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
I was so lucky to spend the last few years of my grandmother’s life with her, when she needed me. I needed her, more so. She died a few years ago, 2 months shy of her 95th birthday. The people of the silent, and great generation are like no other. So much class you will never see again. Rita, thank you for sharing your life with us. What a beautiful lady. Her makeup, hair, and style is perfection.
I love your interviews with folk who saw the majority of the 20th Century. Thank you Mark, I feel it is more than important to record and remember their stories , they lived in such a different world than any one born in the 21st Century.

Beautiful wonderful woman. ❤so lovely she has her mind… so many elders do not, unfortunately I know this because of my mom whom I live with all my heart. She’s 89
This entire episode was captivating from the second I started watching till the very end I felt like I lived all through those years with her what an amazing story thank you for posting this my mom recently passed and I have wonderful memories I wish more people would take the time to listen to the older Generations this was great thank you for posting it
I was a late baby on both sides of my family; both my late dad and mom were born in 1923 and 1926, respectively; Mom was the 2d youngest of nine. Her dad and mom and her eight siblings all lived past 80, at least 2 made it to 90 or a little past. Thank you, Mark and Rita, for bringing back fond memories of my ancestors (I'm going to be 60 this Nov., btw).
This woman is beautiful and I could listen to her for hours!! My mom would have been her age if she had lived. Mark please keep interviewing the people of this beautiful generation!!
I met this 85 year old just last week. I love meeting elderly people because they have so much knowledge! I love hearing about the old days and even the WW II is extremely fascinating to me. I asked him what he could remember, if anything, from the war. He was 6 when it ended and 1 when it started so obviously he was a very young child and didn't remember that much. He saw it through a child's eyes and he clearly had good parents because he had no trauma from it. (My father who was only 18 months when the war ended, had trauma from the war. They say children that small can't remember, that's wrong. Every time he saw an plane in the air growing up he was terrified! Grandma said he used to cry hysterical every time he heard a plane during the war. Obviously he's parents had some issues which they past on to him. No normal one year old is afraid of planes unless they've experienced something traumatic.) The gentleman told me that the children had been aloud to act and play outside as if everything was normal. There were a lot of German Soldiers where he lived since they'd built several buildings to house the soldiers just some metres away from his parent's s house. He also had a memory as of yesterday from the Victory of Europe Day, also called VE Day. He remembered the English soldiers coming to fight the German occupation. There was an English plane being shot down just some hundred metres away which he also could remember very clearly. He found this very intriguing and exiting, he said. He never was afraid. That shows me how different we are as humans. My father being that terrified at such a young age, whilst this gentleman wasn't even affected. I really love listening to this beautiful lady's story, also. I could listen to people like this endlessly! I really miss having grandparents.
Rita. Thank you so very much for your time and your story. Such a remarkable life. I am so pleased you sold those dresses for a small amount over wholesale. You gave so many women happiness which was so needed post war. ❤❤❤
Beautiful ❤ My dad is 92 going on 93. He grew up in Santa Monica, so did my mom, who is in her 80s. My dad fought in the Korean war. My parents do not like all the changes here in L.A. Neither do I.

My next door neighbors who I grew up with still living the same home and I can still speak with them. One of them is 92 and the other is 93. My dad died 2 year ago at age 88. He would’ve turned 91 this coming December. He was born in Mexicali Mexico (border with Calexico California) in 1933 and moved to Tijuana Mexico in 1939. In the 1950s he ended up moving to San Diego and lived here the rest of his life. Hearing this lady tell her stories reminds me a lot of my dad. Took me years to realize just how much wisdom and knowledge my dad had from his experiences growing up during that era. He was definitely one of the toughest persons I’ve ever met.
Rita is so beautiful she doesn’t like 90 and she looks great. This was a great interview mark . I hope you have another one with her. I enjoy the senior interviews and she knew her history.
I’ve enjoyed listening and watching Rita. Please have more interviews of her generation. Credit to you Mark for listening and not rushing her. As we get older, we can’t find our words as easily but they are worth waiting for.
thank you for sharing this beautiful woman’s story and journey. Our society has lost its sense of a healthy connection with our elderly community. This connection has to be respected and appreciated. Most of our youth today don’t even respect their parents, let alone their grandparents or older siblings and elders.
Agreed. I'm 72, and I'd give anything to be able to talk to my parents and grandparents again, now that I'm old enough to have a single clue what questions to ask and how to listen!
@@stevenmcbride9773 haha all good bro, I figured But again I totally agree with your sentiments here. There is so much value that can be taken from the wisdom of our elders. & the lack of respect among the youth today is sad and disappointing

I have been Googling her father, Carl Naftal, and Rita. Not finding much. Would also love to hear more about her life and past and present family.
She’s stunning!

Each interview is uniquely special but I must say, I’m loving these lifespan type. They’re such a joy to listen to. Please keep them coming.
Wow never saw a 90 year old lady looking that beaufiful❤😊
What a classy lady full of a lifetime of history! Wishing her many more years of good health and happiness! Great interview, Mark.
What a striking woman, fabulous features. Her story is really part of American history.
Amazing elegant lady. My dad is 97, served in WWII, same generation.
My 102 y/o GMA & is the exact same way👠💄💋 She still goes to the beauty salon every week stating, “Men love the color red b/c it’s sexy.” The inspo for my luxury consignment store & upscale fashion line!❤
My grandmother and her sisters are exactly like her too.. Malibu
The classic generation we can all learn from and inspire to be someday.
I looked up your socials, impressive, followed you 💕
Beautiful. My mom even in her last days always made sure her lipstick was on and her hair coiffed and a nice outfit on. She lived in a personal care home with mostly women and did it for herself to feel put together. This interview was beautiful. And congrats on your store.
Beautiful wonderful woman. ❤so lovely she has her mind… so many elders do not, unfortunately I know this because of my mom whom I live with all my heart. She’s 89
This entire episode was captivating from the second I started watching till the very end I felt like I lived all through those years with her what an amazing story thank you for posting this my mom recently passed and I have wonderful memories I wish more people would take the time to listen to the older Generations this was great thank you for posting it
What memories! I used to love hearing stories from my grandmother who was born in 1904 and lived to be 91.
I’m always here for your interviews with the elderly folks ❤
This woman is beautiful and I could listen to her for hours!! My mom would have been her age if she had lived. Mark please keep interviewing the people of this beautiful generation!!
Good morning, everyone.Have a great day........ Treat People the way you want to be treated
I'm enjoying this interview so much! What a beautiful lady who reminisces about her life so articulately.
No normal one year old is afraid of planes unless they've experienced something traumatic.)
The gentleman told me that the children had been aloud to act and play outside as if everything was normal.
She reminds me of my nana. Very put-together, well spoken. Loved this.
A woman of true wisdom, loved this interview!
Please continue to interview our elders! I love listening to their knowledge and life experience. Thank you mark!
Rita!!! You seem like an incredible human!! I love your voice, I love your style, and I love your story. Thank you for sharing with us. 😊
Rita. Thank you so very much for your time and your story. Such a remarkable life. I am so pleased you sold those dresses for a small amount over wholesale. You gave so many women happiness which was so needed post war. ❤❤❤
Suprised to see this when I woke up. Good interview so far, had to roll one up with my coffee for this.
Beautiful ❤ My dad is 92 going on 93. He grew up in Santa Monica, so did my mom, who is in her 80s. My dad fought in the Korean war. My parents do not like all the changes here in L.A. Neither do I.
She is gorgeous my goodness. Imagine looking that beautiful at 90! Girl I know when she was in her 20s-40s she was probably movie star drop dead gorgeous. I’ve never seen someone look this good at 90 she could still do some type of modeling imo lmao God please bless me like this
Ye, she reminds me of that 93 year old model Carmen Dell Orefice. Simply stunning.
Wonderful interview of Rita. Please do more interviews with our oldest generation. 😊👍👍👍
She’s beautiful I’m only 71 and wish I looked as wonderful as her!!
🤔
I would rest assured she's had work done. She's a life long Los Angeleno and she does not look anything like any 90 year old I've ever met. Please don't compare yourself to some lady on the internet. I don't know you but i promise you have your OWN beauty.
Smoke & mirrors. Naturally good-looking, sure, but it's 90% makeup at that age.
I'm 72 and my goal is to be like her at 92!
What is it with Americans' obsession with the superficial? Beauty is only skin deep.
I love interviews with older people. They have so much experience and wisdom! Please do more like this!
There's a lot to be said for maintaining one's appearance into old age, for both ladies and gentlemen.
Amen
I agree! I firmly believe that our outer appearance and how we carry ourselves directly correlates with how others treat us! Love yourself so fiercely that the world knows exactly how you should be loved!
@if_you_only_knew People should treat others based on character, not appearance. Anything else is a backwards mentality.
@@DaiAnanta go teach society that, see how far you get!! My point was to dress for yourself and show the world you deserve nothing less than the best!!
@@DaiAnanta dress and appearance have been a part of the world order for centuries! Caring for yourself includes your outward appearance! You even made sure the details of your animated picture were perfect! Lined up, chain on, clean appearance #nuffsaid!
I’m loving the elder interviews. It’s what I miss about working in nursing homes
What a stellar smile !
And you will be back here in 10 years, no doubt about that.
I love these interviews with almost century-old people. Living history! More please.
I hope everyone is listening very carefully to this precious lady....war devastates.
My favorite thing about this interview is how she speaks about her daughters. LOVE LOVE LOVE
My Father and Mothers birth year..the generation I love and cherished so much. RIP Mom and Dad.
Agree
My dad will be 91 in August. My
Mom was born in 1932 and died in 1985.

She looks very well kept to be 90 and I see 20 year olds looking like they are 50!
Right! I just said the same.
You are right . Some of these young people look old even the ones that are in high school look like they are in their 30s.
Faxx on faxx
Please interview more of the elderly as that wisdom is needed in this modern world!
She's gorgeous!!! Wish her many more years!
Thank you for your time. I know a couple of people in their '90s who are able to speak just like you. My next door neighbors who I grew up with still living the same home and I can still speak with them. One of them is 92 and the other is 93. They both know everything that's going on and remember many many many things. I am so blessed. Well listening to you again I'm reminded I'm not afraid to get old. Right now I'm 65.
I love this type of interview. Rita and those like her are living encyclopedias.
Yes and now they are getting rid of our books
Wonderful to hear Rita's stories!
Mark, I'm so happy for you to have sponsorship now!!! Congrats 🥳
What a beautiful woman. I am 6 minutes into this interview. I am watching her with my zoom on so her face fills up my iPad screen. Her skin is phenomenal.
I bet she was movie star beautiful, and her younger days
@@janiceavila7119 I would love to see pictures from her modeling days. Brains as well as looks.

She reminds me so much of my late grandmother who was born in 1929. Miss her so much. This lady is a class act❤
I'm glad they have an elder finally talking about WWII. Mark has had older people and they don't really talk about fascinating historical events.
Phenomenal woman. Beautiful and classy. Great interview. She has a good memory. Would love to watch more interviews with older people.
Oh Mark these interviews are priceless. I’m going on 84 and we are interesting, creative and passionate. Please do another book of photos.
Agreed....but who’s Ed? LoL
Agreed. I'm 72, and I'd give anything to be able to talk to my parents and grandparents again, now that I'm old enough to have a single clue what questions to ask and how to listen!
@@Day-ZDuke lol 😂 I made a mistake
@@stevenmcbride9773 haha all good bro, I figured
But again I totally agree with your sentiments here. There is so much value that can be taken from the wisdom of our elders. & the lack of respect among the youth today is sad and disappointing
@@Day-ZDuke yeah I just don’t understand how it’s gotten so everyone under 35 or younger thinks that getting older is this terrible thing and it’s been demonized on social media and certain groups or platforms online. When it’s truly a beautiful thing to grow old and it’s something everyone of us is going to go through one day.
I just lost my mum at 91, it was so heartbreaking to see her go downhill the last 3 years after being such a strong and independent woman. This lady is absolutely amazing and beautiful! I love to listen to all the stories you bring to us on this channel, they are very humbling, thank you
She is right ,i feel sorry for young people now ( i’m 67 years old) there are so many rules in place now regarding what you can and can’t say .The scourge of obesity is also present now compared to before . Interesting interview ,what a beautiful lady .
You can say whatever you want even merry Christmas
Rita looks fantastic. My Mom will be 99 years old on October 31, 2024. God bless the both of them 🙏🏼
Really amazing to hear someone this age that has so much clarity, talk about that time. what a treaure. (Side note we see a president that is younger than her that couldn't hold a conversation like this. 🤦♀️)
Lovely Lady Rita 🥰 she reminds me of my grandmother Ivka, who had her own sewing business, was always put together and elegant 🥹 Ms Rita, thank you for sharing your stories!
Blessings and good health for Rita
The most fulfilling times in my life have been when I've had the good fortune to care for elderly people. Both my parents, my mother-in-law and others along the way. Their stories are so meaningful to understanding life. Thank you for starting this particular project - keep the stories coming.
I'm still watching this one. What a great interview! I absolutely love her!
This is a generation that sadly is coming to an end. My mother is 92, and carries herself much like Rita. I admire the strength, beauty, and perseverance of women in that generation. Rita, you're amazing! Thank you for sharing your story.
