Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today
      Romans 6.23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      Mark 1.15
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
      2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
      Hebrews 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
      Jesus

The path of the "shepherd" is very lonely.
For the "shepherd," wandering while guarding and leading the flock of "sheep" can be a very lonely experience. However, there may come a moment when you meet a shepherd like yourself. This is rare, but it does happen occasionally. All you have to do is open your heart and listen to everyone who comes your way; suddenly, you will see how many others like you there are.
This channel? It is designed specifically for "shepherds." Look at the number of views, the number of comments, and all of them, without exception, are full of humanity and compassion.
So, do not despair nor shy away, tell yourself: "This is my way; here and only here, I fit in."

@@UnknownUser_627 Nah I've tried everything under the sun since I could remember. There's no day to be ready, we just "don't fit in".
-Take on responsibilities above myself for my family since a young age. Started working at 12 in construction but was never formally taught anything and ended up picking it up on my own through 10+ years. Father is skilled in many trades yet never taught me one. We don't really speak, not even in the 10 hours at work.
-Working effectively by myself in all/most things
-In boxing and education, I learned more by myself than with a coach or teacher. They mostly refused or had ran out of patience before I could ask them to.
-Unintentionally hurt women in romantic relationships just being myself though being kind/lenient with them. I appear to lack the ability to be human or understand them and can be distant at times which leads to many misunderstandings. I still feel lonely and not just in a romantic sense but overall as a human being.
-When younger, I usually got ganged up on, abused, and was persecuted for my beliefs though not fitting in the church either. Isolated by my mother so my mind wouldn't be corrupt with worldly ideas. The only obedient child of 5 yet treated like a "bastard child" for being so. Not allowed friends or to go outside. When I was rightfully angry, I was locked in my room and left punching myself or the wall until I fell asleep.
I've been an AB student with high paying scholarships, boxed a 2022 GG Champion, and a single 5'9 fit 22 year old with 10 years of construction experience and can't seem to fit in or succeed in anything. I still believe in God too though I don't fit in with His people.

Wise words DC, thank you for the poem. I am reminded of The Ballad of Jeremiah Johnson:
"Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains
he was bettin’ on forgettin’ all the troubles that he knew
the trail was wide and narrow, the eagle or the sparrow
showed the path he was to follow as it flew.
A mountain man is a lonely man and he leaves a lot behind
it ought to have been different but you often times will find
that the story doesn't always go the way you had in mind
and Jeremiah’s story was that kind... Jeremiah’s story was that kind.
The way that you wander is the way that you choose
the day that you tarry is the day that you lose
sunshine or thunder, a man will always wonder where... the fair wind blows
    ...where the fair wind blows.
An Indian says you search in vain for what you cannot find
he says you've found a thousand ways of runnin' down your time
an Indian didn't scream it, he said it in a song
and he's never been known to be wrong... he's never been known to be wrong."
    - sobering lyrics and one of my all-time favorite films

I think the problem with someone like Jordan Peterson is that he greatly underestimates the fact that a great deal of young men who are lonely or don't fit in aren't losers. They might be eccentrics, creative types, autistic types and other people who are just inherently different and that these individuals are a minority but they're not exactly rare. Regardless of that, atomisation and living in a hyperindividualistic society which also strongly favours extroverts doesn't help either.
I think pinning it all on men being "losers" pertains to a lazy, unnuanced outlook on the issue

Long distance trucker, well driller, rambling man, he'd been in every state and province and I forget how many countries. He passed in 2022 from brain and colon cancer. That's when we found checks for thousands he'd never banked. He didn't care about money. But during the weeks and months before he died his phone rang constantly from friends all over the place. He never ended a call without saying "I love you" in a meaningful way. His friend list encompassed a homeless man in Vancouver, BC a billionaire in Las Vegas and every demographic in between. All religions, rich or poor- it didn't matter. He figured out how to love and he did it well.
His early years were painful as he struggled to fit into the "nice normal" box around him. Or, should I say, struggled against people trying to fit him into the box.
He fought against society but he found his niche..... by being the perfect example to the rest of us..... of how to love well.

This resonated with me on an emotional level I didn't even know I had.
I'm 19. I've never "fit in" by any stretch of those words. I've got autism, am mixed race, am infatuated with the outdoors and nature, and for some reason always have questions about everything. Since I was a wee homonculus I could tell that "fitting in" wasn't really for me. Always found other people difficult to be around, and would prefer making friends with birds and frogs instead. Knew that the typical life most men go down didnt sound fulfilling to me.
By this point I still don't "fit in", but I've been learning more about myself and what truly drives me in life each day. I think not being preoccupied with reaching some goal, or trying harder to "fit in" has given me room to truly discover what I want in life, and appreciate the present in a way that most folks aren't able to nowadays.
Whether you're able to comfortably fit into some societal box or not, this life is the one and only one you've got to live. To me, it seems a bit silly trying to force oneself to "fit in" when there is so much more in the world worthy of your energy and time.

Jobson of the Star is another great poem by Robert Service. It tells a little more of the story of the men that don't fit in. I feel there is a lot of sarcasm in his work and his mention of being a failure for not fitting in is said with a touch of that, only having failed to measure up to a standard that other people put on us, not the measure of man inside ourselves. His life and experience is a testament to that.
Hope some of you get a chance to read more of his work, thank you for sharing his poem and your thoughts on it. Love to hear Robert Service mentioned in modern society, please please keep reading his works.

For as long as I can remember, I've always been fascinated by the world around me. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to go out and explore this giant garden we live in called "Earth". Ive always loved plants and animals and bugs and how the world works. If i could, I'd be one of those people on the discovery channel going out and just experiencing the world for what it is for their day-to-day life. I want to learn and appreciate all that there is out there, and appreciate everyone that shares this world with me, before its all gone.
I struggle with so many things. Among those is keeping my thoughts in order, expressing myself, and sticking with one thing and being happy with it. Sure, I like jobs where i get to create and fix things. Ive always been good with my hands. But eventually, i just... Get tired of it, seemingly no matter what it is. Probably because its the same thing over and over and over again. What I would do to be able to travel and learn and try new things for a living... I suppose I feel caged by the world when I just want to run free and wild.

I knew among my peers that there was something fundamentally different, that through those past experiences, that I had a different value of life than those around me. I went on the path of Art, and found that an exploration of ideas that fundemntally connect us and explore new frontiers. It is a prospect that excited me. I went to art school in NY but short of a decade I left, because I didn't really fit in, and we'll not many commercial prospects due to the type of work I was making. So I took the leap and now I'm in Japan, and the country out here is breathtaking, I feel like I'm getting closer to my peace and exploring new possibilities in my art. I don’t fit in at work. I’m uniquely me and nothing like everyone else I work with. I do historical Viking reenactment as a hobby, paint Warhammer miniatures, I drink out of a clay mug at work, and smoke a pipe or cigar when on my break. I wear a flat cap and will do absolutely everything for people I think deserve it, but won’t be disrespected by anyone. I will do anything to protect my personal peace. Good or bad, intended or not, I leave an impression on people and people know exactly who I am once they’ve met me. I have noticed some people love being round me, and some shy away from me because I’m always honest with myself and who I am, I pick up very quickly when people are being false with me.

I've always had a deep admiration for you and this channel, mostly because of the cowboy content but also because you're not on here, making content to rack up views or seeking other people's approval. You're speaking the honest to goodness truth that everybody should be closely paying attention to. I normally quietly sit back and just watch your videos but today I feel compelled to express my gratitude. Thank you for all your videos but especially this one. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that's out here just doing my own thing and breaking the mold. My hat's off to you, pard. And I'm not normally long winded, I just felt particularly moved by this one.

This poem was on the wall of the Kincora Hostel when I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2009. It took me a while to realize how much it applied to me. But for many years now, and some days (like today) are a stark reminder that I'm a man who doesn't fit in.
The real challenge is accepting it, and then embracing it.

I DONT "FIT IN" and I like it that way , it keeps people on edge. I've tried to fit in for friends and family but they respect and accept me for who I am. I'm 63 years old and over the years I've realized that the world is what you make it. I'm comfortable with who I am and if folks don't like it I'm fine with that. Dwayne , you're an inspiration to me and others I'm sure. Thank you for these talks and I wish you all the best in the future.

I think Service was talking about the men who don’t fit in, don’t leave a mark. I to do not fit in, but I found the home that Service doesn’t consider, the military. I have seen the Rockies, the Arctic, and watched the sun rise over the Hindu Kush in Afghanistan. And there are not words to express that. But when I die, I will know I’ve done my part for my family, and the ones I served beside. And I embrace that nobody will understand my journey but the American poet Kahil Giberan, and his poem defeat.

Thanks Dewayne for this needed message. For a long time I confused not fitting in as being lost in life. Seeking directions from those who chose to fit in, misinterpreting the nagging sensation to a lack of discipline, rather than discerning that I do not fit into this pretense mold of success. True, I never saw riches as a measure of success, but I did follow the trend of destination driven goals. This created within me a need to consider and reconsider this " if they just went straight" path, before even taking steps. I do believe in discernment and calculating the cost, but I have come to realise more and more - and thanks to this video - that I need to allow my steps, my actions, the journey to be my goal. Thanks yet again for this reminder. As for me, I better get moving, there is plenty to discover.

I appreciate watching this video. I have always felt like I didn't fit in, at work, at church(even though my beliefs align with other believers). I never wanted to follow the crowd, do what they do or think like they think. I spend most of my time by myself and my loyal K-9 companion. I'm 68 now, never married or had kids. I used to and occasionally still think that I have missed out on all the blessings life offers. Being alone hasn't been easy but it has helped me to grow gather strength, strength from above. I enjoy your videos and your prospective on life. I am in this world but not of this world. I am a pilgrim just passing through. Enjoying life and learning every day.

Hoss, this is one of the best videos you have put out! There is so much freedom in the words you spoke on this subject. I am with you and one of those men that don’t fit in. My life verse is “Wherefore Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch not the unclean thing; And I will receive you,” 2 Cor‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬. The journey and experiences within are the destination. I am 43 and it took me until my late 30’s to figure out it’s not only ok to not fit in the mold of what an American man is supposed to be, but it’s a true blessing to walk in the freedom of the journey. Doesn’t mean I’m a bum or homeless person and I don’t take responsibility - in fact I’m happily married to an amazing wife and mother, have 4 awesome, responsible and intelligent kids who we homeschool, successful job, a blessed home and money in the bank. But we enjoy life with each other and the day to day experiences amongst us are what we look forward to.
Thank you for these videos, it gives me great pleasure and peace knowing there are a group of people in this world like you. Please keep sharing your life lessons and values with us!

I love this stuff! Brother, you are basically speaking directly to my soul. I don't belong. I don't fit in. The one job I ever had that might be considered to be a career I was fairly good at, but I ended up hating it in the end. I could see only the negatives and saw the dark clouds gathering because of those who were only out to exploit me for their own gain. I left, and was happy for a time. Now, I am starting to feel the wandering spirit again, but am more scared because I am much older, somewhat disabled, and a bit wiser. God help us loners, because society sure does not care about us right now! Thanks for posting, sir.

There is absolutely no way that anyone could have possibly said this better. I don’t and have never fit in. I am 56 now and a year or so ago I asked myself why I wanted to fit in? I could not think of any reason to attempt fitting in anymore. I embarked on embracing the journey of developing and building simple things. I probably will not make money on my journey but dang it’s fun! I will leave a legacy to my daughters, grand children, and son-in-laws. I found something Charlie Munger said when he was a young man and it helped me break the box. He said “Write your obituary when you are young and live it”. Well I’m not young anymore but I wrote my obituary and I am living it and nothing in it says I fit in!!

Set your heart on things above and embrace the spiritual journey. It may be long may be tough, but know you are not alone. Never settle in comfort of the world, for it to will pass. Your heart longs to be at home. Your spirit is free at last. Kingdom seeking souls will be bold, the race they are steadfast. Til the day we reach our goal, a welcome home, in this world, we never grasp.
