One of the catchiest tunes ever. It’s perfectly recorded at just the right length of time. I don’t want it to end. I could listen to him sing another verse. I usually play it twice.
I was in high school when this song came out. The whole album is phenomenal. I will never forget the look of shock on my art teacher's face when he overheard me enthusiastically telling a friend that "I finally got Laid by James". 😂
i ordered the cd album feat laid and also same title of the album. right now i have "better than ezra" version and some dude name "matt" version. this is my favorite version.
I actually heard this song on the radio the other day after not hearing it for years!. I had my 2 year old son in the car and i started drumming along with one hand while driving and he started drumming too. It was an awesome moment.
I heard it last week after not hearing it for years also. It reminds me of the 90's during my high school/college days. Along with REM's "Stand", Mariah Carey "Dream lover", Dave Matthews "Satellite", Deep Blue Something's "Breakfast at Tiffany's", Candle box's "Far Behind", Blues Traveler's "Run Around" and lots of Gin Blossoms, STP, Green Day and Pearl Jam songs. Best days of my life. The music wasn't half bad either 🤪
I was 23 in 1993, but I never heard this song until it came up in a UA-cam music mix in 2022. Nothing like 30 year old "new" music. How did I miss this?
“You’re driving me crazy, when are you coming home” such a simple line, but it perfectly describes a messed up relationship and why it’s so hard to get out of sometimes.
its 3/21/21 and I am hearing James for the first time in my life and it really pisses me off that I have gone 32 years of my life without hearing this band.
This song just played on my phone after I was listening to a podcast and fell asleep. I don’t even know if it was in my own playlist, but I looked it up to find out who when more and I feel the same …not pissed off, just missed off…but like someone else has said, there’s now a treasure trove of his music to discover. Can’t get too bummed out by the late discovery….there’s always going to be wonders you never experience, so revel in the ones you do and let them grow your fondness for life, creation, talent, art and maybe even a spirit being who is pleased to teach you to be happy and grateful and wonderful in your own right.
Ignacio Kert I've thought about this question a lot this week. I wouldn't have done a nursing degree or have split up a couple times with my current fiancee and hurt him. but it's all hindsight. you should think about what your happy about- my mum died when I was 25 and we had such a Close relationship, especially in the coupla yrs before she died. that's what you should focus on
woow, it's weird because next year i'm supposed to go to university in order to start my nursing career, or that's what my parents want me to do, but i'm not really sure, the only thing i wanna do now is travel with no money and enjoy the moment...and because of this , the reltionship with my mom is getting worse every day. Maybe i should take your answer as an example and rethink what i'm gonna do
Ignacio Kert so do you want to be a nurse or not? if u do maybe you could compromise on the travel. if u don't then don't. never do anything anyone else wants you to
They don’t make music like this anymore. Reminds me of my days of clubbing in the early 90’s and happier times 😃 and how lucky I was to be a teenager in the 90’s. Brings back so many memories.
This was a sound man friend of mine's favourite song and he'd always ask us to play it for him when he mixed us and we did. He's been gone for several years now but every time I hear it, I think of him. His name was James. R.I.P. James.
It only took me 25 years to truly appreciate this song. Just wasn’t my thing when it would play every morning on my way in to middle school but I get it now lol. Good tune 👍🏼

Ahhhh..... WHAT. A . TUNE!?! ... Absolute banger..... I can remember my neighbour rolling her eyes whenever I put this on in the car! I couldn’t understand how anyone could dislike it being as it’s super catchy & upbeat! Those drums kick in right at the beginning & you automatically reach for the volume! ...And it takes me back to a time when I was super in L❤️VE.... Incredible how music has the ability to not only take you back to a precise moment in time no matter how many years have lapsed, but actually give you the exact feels! Good times
Literally been listening to this half my life, having found James through Seven and Goldmine. Obsessed with this song and video, Tim Booth is such a great actor and this character always gives me Wyndom Earl Twin Peaks vibes.
Its a mind trick. This song has a simple arrangement and vibes from all eras of modern western music,(Which is a common in British Pop and alternative. All driven by an amazing vocal that deflects focus on what hes singing about, which was 10 years ahead of its time.(Breaking Taboos,Also a very British trope) To me The intro and rhythm guitar would makes me think im about to hear Pink Houses by John Mellencamp. Then Theres a Hammond Organ and vocals thats gives it a Kinda Roy Orbison type vibe/tenor Barbershop Singer With a Lennon inspired Lyric and 50s style drumming. (Not sure about the La Bamba melody, not hearing that. ) Vocals could have been written by anyone From Cole Porter to Lady Gaga. Perfect Pop song.
I want Tim Booth to know that I am soooo in love with this song and I think it’s one of the greatest songs ever created. It makes me feel so alive when I’m feeling down , especially during this time of manic. My parents showed me this song and I just rediscovered it. This is definitely what I needed.
