This was just Lindsey, showing why he's so under-rated by many for his singing and finger-work. This really shows off both so well!
They usually do this as a group, with this being the only time I've seen him perform that song, solo.
So true!!
He does it solo most of the time live now
I've never seen him do it with backup! Crazy!
Yep, Lindsey backs himself up, on guitar. He, Stevie, and Christine split the singing and songwriting pretty much in even thirds. Never Going Back Again is another song that shows off his amazing guitar skills.
That’s epic!!
Lindsey sang lead or co-lead on 50% of the songs from 1975-87 on the albums and on stage. Stevie the fewest at 25% (partially because her songs tended to be much longer). Christine in the mid 30s since she did some co-writing and co-lead singing with Lindsey.
@@caps689
And in addition to his writing, Lindsey also arranged and produced the songs - even the ones that Stevie and Christine wrote. He has written how this wore him out. He said they would simply drop off lyrics written slips of paper and a cassette with the melody. He then had to pull it all together into a song that was ready to be recorded.
This for me was the best era of Fleetwood Mac, Stevie and Lindsey were a godsend for the band and brought them back into the limelight again! Lindsey is a great singer and guitarist, and always was!
Great reaction, oh Lindsey’s technique is Finger style - he always plays that way as you perceived it allows him to sound a bit like two guitarists! 🌹
So awesome!!
Amazing unique guitarist.. His voice is excellent.
Definitely!!
Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwoodmac in 1974, I believe changing the fortunes of the band. The album "Rumours" released in 1977 is a perfect album, also won grammy for best album.😊
I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert for the first time while stationed in Hawaii. It was not long after Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the group. It was a fantastic concert. But on the down side it was raining when the concert ended and my wipers on my 64 GTO stopped working. I had to sleep in my car waiting for the rain to stop. Then I had to race across the island to get back to my base. I was on mess duty then and had to be at work at 0500. But I was still so high on the sounds of the concert that the whole day of work was fun.
Back then this group was fantastic, but especially Stevie Nicks.
The original lead singer for Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, was an inventive, creative guitarist who, by is credited with naming the group. One the reel tapes Peter wrote Fleetwood after the drummer Mick Fleetwood, and Mac from bassist John McVie on the tapes. Two songs to listen to from this time in their history are LAST NIGHT. And OH, WELL. Both are very good.
There is also another male singer who made a brief impact on the band before the Buckingham/Nicks era. His name is Bob Welch. The song most people know is HYPNOTIZED. I encourage you to give it a listen. And enjoy
WOW! Amazing!
Woah, I always thought it was Lindsey who sang Hypnotized! An amazing song
He was their secret weapon.
"I'm So Afraid" live in 1997 (same concert as this performance) shows off his talent!!! He is so underrated!!🎶🎼🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
The picking style is called “Travis Picking” it’s where you play the bass with the thumb and melody with the fingers. Named after Merl Travis.
Fleetwood Mac had the biggest album of all time with rumours and stevie nicks has the voice of an angel as did Christene mcvie Rip Christene you are missed. my favorit fleetwood mac songs are the chain and dreams. and Lindsey Buckingham is a criminally under rated guitarist.
Agreed!!
To hear Christine listen to "Everywhere".
Yes, yes, and yeeeesssss!
The mac are a timeless brilliantly talented group of musicians who have written numerous hit albums/ songs with their biggest seller being “Rumours” . Christine Mcvie (R.I.P) Lynsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks being the songwriters. Known for their in -band romances and splits which spawned some of their greatest songs. The live version of “The Chain” where Lynsey and Stevie looked say a little “medicated” is fire.1982.The emotion between them is as real as it gets. Should check out the series “Daisy Jones and the six” a loose story based on the group. Fun fact , Riley Keough who plays Daisy is the real life granddaughter of Elvis Presley.
So good!!
Yes, I was going to suggest "The Chain" so you could hear the two of them together. @@MaddyReactions
My favorite song from a fantastic show. He's a beast on that guitar. And a pretty damned good singer!
Definitely
The genius of the MAC - A band that could sing and play - a rarity today
This was crazy good. I have only heard another version of this song. Wow! Hugs from Scandinavia.
Right!
Im ten months late but if you watch his fingers his thumb plays the bass note, his baby finger plays like extra rhythm and then his other 3 fingers are playing the individual notes. When he gets fired they have to replace him with two very good guitarists and they also have a bass player! The fact he can play this when it's essentially 3 parts AND SING makes him a genius imo! I have tried to watch ppl who try to play this song and they sound hollow and don't even get to the same tempo or add vocals, it's truly mind blowing!
Do the whole Rumours album. You won't regret it. There are NO bands like them today.
Maddy .. Maddy .. Maddy ... lol ... you have so much to learn about Rock from the 70s & 80s .. 🎼🎼🎸🎼🎼 .. You are choosing great songs. When Fleetwood Mac discovered Lindsey Buckingham, cthey only wanted him , but he insisted that his girlfriend , Stevie Nicks, should join. The rest .. is history. Other great songs to react to : Silver Springs - Tusk - Bleed To Love You - Little Lies.
Lindsey is such a talented guitarist that he baffles many other musicians with his skills. This one, "Big Love" is a masterpiece. Keep on rockin' .. 💓💯💓💯💓💯💓💯
WOW!!! So awesome!!!
One of the most underrated guitarist!
♥️great reaction!
Fleetwood Mac had three songwriters and because whoever wrote the song, sung the song with Fleetwood Mac, three lead singers. Lindsay Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Christine Mc Vie.
Excellent reaction and excellent song Fleetwood Mac have a lot of legendary songs, later beautiful girl.❤️🤘😎
I bet!
Saw them live. Great group. Named after Mick Fleetwood the drummer. Awesome they are
No way??
Named after Mick Fleetwood & John McVie
My old friend Mel was in love with Stevie Nicks. Mel was the drummer in BJH, he passed a few years ago, he was a strange but interesting character. He asked her to run off with him back in the day but she wasnt having any of it apparently. Greenfield isnt as much fun without Mel living there.
Ooohh
Hi Maddy, Lindsey Buckingham is truly an unsung guitar genius. If you would like to there are many great Fleetwood Mac songs but Lindsey’s song Go Your Own Way was written in answer to his estranged lover’s, that’s right, Stevie Nicks song to him called Silver Springs. Lindsey’s made it on to Rumors album and was the longest playing hit on the album. Stevie’s Silver Springs did not make it on that album. I suggest you watch the live performance from “The Dance”. Love your content btw.
Yesss
"Go Your Own Way" is a must by Lindsey Buckingham on lead for Fleetwood Mac.
A masterful rendition of this great song. Check out their earlier stuff when Peter Greene was involved.
Oooh! Sounds cool!
it's fingerstyle, when he constantly plays the bass line with his thumb, that's why it sounds like two guitars
The original Fleetwood Mac had no ladies. Peter Green was the leader and singer and it was rather a blues band. Check the song Oh well part 1 (for the song) and part 2 for the skilled instrumental build!
I had no clue!
Though not a full member until after Green left in 1970, Christine was playing keyboards as a backing instrumentalist for FM since 1968.
@@caps689 Thanks, interesting, didn't know that! Still Peter Green was the singer and founder in the beginning.
The three main vocalists in FM were Stevie Nicks, Christie McVie, and lead guitarist of whom just performed, Lindsey Buckingham.
This isn't Fleetwood Mac, this is Lindsey Buckingham solo doing a Mac song. Of course, he was also a band member.
Oooh
This was pretty much Lynsey’s album by the early 1980’s.
Sweet Little Lies, on this album featuring Christie McVie And Go back to Rumors!!!
This acoustic version is much different than the studio track if you care to listen to it.
Oooh
Fleet wood Mac went through many different stages as far as personal and they all were great.Start at the beginning and see the changes in one of Rocks greatest bands.
Male singers? Then you have to listen to their beginnings, like "Need Your Love So Bad 1968" and "Oh Well 1969". Great songs from the past. 🙂
Oooohhh
Lindsey Buckingham is self taught. He is finger picking in 5 part harmony. My favorite style it's hard on the fingers but very satisfying to pick. Lindsey is also Stevie nicks ex husband. That what a lot of Fleetwood Macs songs are about there break up while they still in a band together
So good!!
Stevie and Lindsey were never married, although they were romantic partners for several years.
Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” beautifully displays both Lindsay Buckingham’s and Stevie Nicks’s voice (Christine McVie is more on backup vocals and keyboards in that one). The album version is beautiful to listen to, but the live version is absolutely mesmerizing. I highly recommend it…though I don’t know which version to suggest first.
Hi Maddy,
Recommend Peter Green Fleetwood Mac live at the Boston Tea Party.
Led Zeppelin, live at Madison Square Garden particularly Dazed and Confused
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood live El Mocambo plus Voodoo Child live in Texas.
Very strange that anyone would not know Fleetwood Mac has multiple vocalists and songwriters
One thing to remember too is that Lindsey was asked to join Fleetwood Mac because they needed a guitarist at that time and after listening to previous Fleetwood Mac albums he agreed to join but only if they took Stevie in as well and the rest as they say is history.
As much as I love this period of Fleetwood Mac's music, I would love for you to view the original set up with Peter Green on guitar & vocal. A more bluesy sound in tunes such as "Need Your Love so Bad" & "Black Magic Woman" & acoustic tunes such as "Albatross"
He is a true boss
Other male singers in the band included Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, and Bob Welch.
He also wrote many of their songs.
This is soooo much better than the poppy album version.
Please react to " Bleed to Love Her" from this same performance, the whole band joins in.❤
Whe Lindsey Buckingham left Fleetwood Mac they had to get two guitarists in to cover for what he did
Lindsay Buckingham and Christy McVey also
You’re right, he somehow seems to combine lead with rhythm guitar playing. Sounds like there are two. When Lindsey parted ways with the band, they had to get 2 guitarists to replace him.
The way he makes the guitar sound like 2 is on the top 2 strings his thumb is playing 1 pattern, but on the bottom three strings he is playing a completely different pattern and timing signature, this is a crazy ability and not many can do this, it's also very tiring on the hand.
A few years ago I was so excited to hear the Mac was to do a world tour but then he was fired from the band. I refused to see them without him. It would be akin to seeing Metallica without James Hetfield. I had friends that did see them with another guitarist and Neil Finn singing and they say it was great but in reality it just wouldn't have been the same without Lindsay Buckingham!!!
You doing good Maddy greetings from Germany
Thank you! 🤍
I'm so afraid is another good showcase of LB, from this 'the dance' concert.
Lindsay Buckingham's guitar style is called finger picking.
Ya have to listen to the original Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac. Their the only Mac for me, with the girls it was to top 400 for me. Jim
Oh wow!
I have a suggestion for a reaction video that goes right to the top in talent. You won't believe your eyes or ears but be aware that you may never see anything as good. This video has my highest recommendation on UA-cam. It's a live performance and cover song originally written and sung by the group Mountain. Mississippi Queen by Zakk Wylde.
Lindsey Buckingham is a triple threat and that is why Mick Fleetwood wanted him so bad. Bob Welch, the previous male singer, guitarist, and songwriter had left. Fleetwood asked Lindsey to join the band, but Buckingham said he and Stevie (who at the time were both romantic and musical partners) were a package deal. Mick said "I already have a female lead singer, keyboardist, and songwriter (Christine McVie R.I.P) and don't need another female singer." . Lindsey stuck to his guns, and because a guitar, singing, and songwriting talent like Lindsey's is so rare, Mick took the "Dead Weight" deal as he called it. Then Mick says, "How was I to know, this little 5ft nothing, waif of a girl, would write "Rhiannon" and put us on the top of the charts."
Lindsey is using Nylon guitar strings, not steel guitar strings. Nylon strings are mainly used in Flamenco guitar in classical, Spanish music. Lindsey Buckingham, and Willie Nelson , are the only two artists to use these guitar strings, to top Billboard, mainstream hits! The sound is unique, and if used right, unforgettable.
My two favorite songs by FM are by him little lies and this song..both off the Tango in the Night lp/cd...then my next favorite would be Oh Well.I also prefer Christine McVie over Stevie Nicks.
💖🤍💖
There's been a number of male singers in Fleetwood Mac.
Oh wow
Lol, so hilarious to me (and sad) that the vast majority of people think Fleetwood Mac IS Stevie Nicks.
Awesome Lindsey Buckingham!
So good!
Funny you said ot sounded like 2 guitars. The band literally had to use 2 to sub for Lindsey!
lindsey buckingham is a guitar god.
Please react to BLEED TO LOVE HER ...from this same performance.
hello u may chech Lindsay s guitar with his sin Trouble or with flettwod mac in te album tango in the night and the song family man. Greetings fro mexico.
Lindsey has everything to do with Stevies sound. Without him her stuff wouldn't be the same.
Lindsey Buckingham, the man I want to take a journey down the holiday road with ;)
Oh and yeah, Lindsey's finger picking all of that.
He's that good.
Holy cow are you ever churning out content, workin' your butt off. Good for you.
You might want to edit the title a bit though. This isn't all of Fleetwood Mac, it's just Lindsay Buckingham all by himself. I'd put this performance into my top ten list of live performances, along the likes of Rush playing YYZ in Rio, Queen at Live Aid, and Heart playing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center.
Very cool!
This performance is from Fleetwood Mac's The Dance. It's as much FM as Lindsey playing guitar alone to Stevie singing Landslide or Christine playing piano to Songbird. Even on FM albums quite a bit is LB by himself (singing, playing, songwriting, arranging, producing and even engineering) . The original "band" cut on Tango In The Night is all Lindsey except for some drum fills by Mick. This arrangement though originally was done for his solo tour in 1992.
@@caps689 No, this is from his one man show at Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. He uploaded it to his channel 15 Nov 2012.
@@edminchau811 This version is from The Dance - you can tell by the stage and that Lindsey is 47 not in his 60s - also the only time in his performing life (or maybe life) he was a tad chunky.
try another song by lindsay called trouble
Never going back again, go your own way and the chain are his best songs….
The track Big Love from the album is far better.
Yes this is good but still not the Peter Green Fleetwood Mac
Oh?
