R.I.P. Christine
🙏🍁
AMEN!!
R.I.P. Christine, a true legend in a legendary supergroup! We just lost her a few months ago!
So grateful that we had Christine in our lives.
When everyone was talking about Stevie, i was all about Christine. R.I.P. Such a lovely voice.
Fleetwood Mac was my first concert in 1977. May God hold her in his hands. Rest in peace Christine
i saw them the same summer ('77) at the cotton bowl in dallas, tx.
David, I saw them at the same concert, the Texas Jam. I had it in my head that was in '79? They came on just at dusk after The Little River Band, Joe Walsh, and whoever the one other band was that year.
around the same time...Saratoga Springs, NY
R.I.P. Songbird angel. 😢
RIP Christine McVie..Much missed and irreplaceable in Fleetwood Mac
Christine was their keyboardist and co vocalist since 1970, until her recent passing a few months ago. My heart broke then, and missing a piece since.
I feel the same way 😢💔
Christine, in a way, was overshadowed by Stevie Nicks. Stevie, who was a bit more flashy, appealed to many fans... I prefer Christine's smooth, warm voice.
They were great friends to each other.
It’s not hyperbole to say that Christine McVie always makes a song better. Whether she’s the featured singer bringing her breathtaking melodies, or supporting with her lovely background vocals, she was a treasure that we all got to enjoy. I love, love, love her songs and it’s a joy to watch you experience her talents.
Definitely
Greetings from China @jjh5374 Her and Emmylou Harris could sing harmonies to recordings of crashing cars and the sound would be elevated.
@@MaddyReactions thank you, do a reaction in 20 years please, bless you
over and over from the live album is the best r.i.p Christine
Two of the best female singers......ever....
Fleetwood Mac is a great rabbit hole ... such a treasure trove of hits. RIP Songbird
I saw the Rumors tour, and after a couple of rousing encores, Christine came out on stage alone and did this song to send everyone home relaxed and in peace. One of the best shows I ever saw.
Its been a year we lost a songbird. Ms. Christine RIP my angel
I’ve seen them 3 times 1st time in 1978 r.I.p Christine Mcvie
Fleetwood Mac had many great songs....but I always considered this song as their 'most beautiful' song. Christine has a unique voice that is so soothing. I truly enjoy your reactions...Maddy...YOU ROCK!
So sad that she is gone.........RIP, beautiful lady.😪
😞
Check out Christine McVie singing "I'd rather go blind" if you Love love songs. She was Always an Incredible talent .R..I.P. Christine McVie.
John McVie said in an interview that, while on tour, he and Mick Fleetwood would always watch this (concert closing) performance, every night, and would both be crying, every night...
What a beautiful and unique voice. RIP
R.I.P. Christine......so good and so loved.
Fleetwood Mac was my first ever concert IT WAS AMAZING, early 1973 song REMEMBER ME, again Christine shines..RIP SWEET LADY
🤍
RIP Christine
RIP Christine and you're missed!
That 1997 concert was epic. This song closed it. Lindsey was on fire. The USC band. Wow. My favorite concert.
Maddie, I’m from the US you have to start listening to the Fleetwood Mac songs that are written by Christine McVie the songbird there are many !
Her voice always hits right in my soul. Never have to wait it goes directly without any pause.😎
Christine McVie was one of the main songwriters for Fleetwood Mac and usually performed behind the scene. In a BBC Desert Island Discs interview she told a story of how she "wrote" Songbird. She couldn’t sleep, and an unknown song was in her head. “I had to play this song. It was as if I’d been channeled or something!” It came to her at 3 in the morning. “The whole song, complete, chords, words, everything within half an hour,” she explained. Fortunately, she had a piano in her room, but no tape recorder. So she kept playing it without sleeping for fear of forgetting it, until she went into the studio at 9 o’clock the next day to record it on a two-track tape. “I just felt as if it was a universal kind of prayer or something. I just don’t know where it came from. This never happened to me since or before.” ‘Songbird’ would arguably become McVie’s signature song. Originally released as the B-side to ‘Dreams’ in 1977, it ended up on Fleetwood Mac’s world-conquering 'Rumours' album. It wasn’t her biggest hit for the group, but the ballad was a frequent closer at Fleetwood Mac concerts, especially after McVie rejoined in 2014.
Christine was a beautiful person. I miss her. RIP
Beautiful
Saw them in 1977 in Norfolk Va. with Kenny Loggins. Favorite songs "Landslide" "Go Your Own Way" and Christine's masterpiece "Songbird"
I saw them in Norfolk in '82 I think with Men At Work.
Lovely song & lovely memories. Thank You Christine Mcvie 🎹
I saw Fleetwood Mac several times and they always closed the show with Songbird. Christine was married to the Bassist John Mc Vie. So sad we lost her this year.
So many great Fleetwood Mac songs. RHIANNON, OVER MY HEAD, THE CHAIN, LITTLE LIES, SILVER SPRINGS, LANDSLIDE, GO YOUR OWN WAY.
All of that is Stevie nicks and Lindsey Buckingham stuff, Christine McVie came before both of them.
Christie McVie...classy lady. RIP. Was fortunate enough to see Fleetwood Mac in concert 3 times in my teens. Mark
She was the true female musical talent in the band.
Christine Mc Vee had a great voice and played a great piano. She passed this year. R.I.P. Christine
I walked down the aisle to this song. ❤️❤️❤️
I've seen them six times.
This song makes me emotional every time
Everytime!
🎼🤍🤍🤍✨️🤍🤍🤍🎼 .. so Maddy .. this is a beautiful, timeless , heartwarming song performed by the beautiful Christine McVie .. this was always a crowd roaring thrill at every show she performed it with Fleetwood Mac. She was in the band before Stevie Nicks , but she still was able to shine. She has more great songs where you can hear her unique voice. Keep searching my friend. 💘💘💘💘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ .. love it 🎼
I think you may have heard her wrong on the last verse; she's not saying I wish for myself, she actually says I wish it FROM myself. Christine McVie, an absolute legend, may she rest in peace.
They always ended their shows the song. My favorite band when I was a kid. R.I.P Christine 🙏
70's kid too?
@@kesleycottrell1416 Yes... Fleetwood Mac , Electric light Orchestra and Styx were my introduction to rock music when I was a kid. Born in 69... ✌️
She was a lead vocalist before Lindsey and Stevie and those albums are well worth a listen. Try Homeward Bound from Bare Trees, a great album in its own right. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Christine wrote something like half of Fleetwood Mac’s hits. An extraordinary talent.
I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac and it’s still one of my favorite bands.
We miss you Christine.
Maddy this song is one of many that was the soundtrack of the coming of age of a very special time growing up.
This song is so melancholy when thinking of that time and friend no longer with us❤️🙏
R.i.P to this incredible talent and one of of our most beautiful human beings. I really hope God is satisfied. Missing this great woman!
Christine McVie actually fronted more songs than any other member of Fleetwood Mac. She came after the Peter Green years and long before Stevie and Lindsay came. She was an amazing talent and very much under appreciated.
Fleetwood Mac had many members over the years since the late 60s. The constants were founders Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass. They started as a blues band but evolved into a pop/rock band in the mid 70s..
The “classic” lineup which had the most success and all the big hits and who most people think of when talking about Fleetwood Mac is Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckungham and Stevie Nicks. That lineup was together from about 1974-1987. After that the members would leave and come back several times.Again with Mick and John being the only members in all the band lineup variations. That classic lineup reunited several times.
Christine, Lindsay and Stevie wrote and sang all the band’s famous songs.
Interesting fact, when the band was looking for a new guitarist in about 1974, Mick Fleetwood asked Lindsay Buckingham to join. He said yes but only if his girlfriend at the time Stevie Nicks could also join. Lindsay and Stevie had recently recorded an album together. Mick reluctantly agreed. So Stevie was almost not a member.
Such a great song, Eva Cassidy covered it just a few months before she passed away from cancer.
Such a beautiful song, one of their best, even more emotional now christine has gone,RIP and thank you ❤️
I saw Fleetwood Mac with Peter Frampton, and The Eagles in a daytime concert in Pittsburg. Great concert on of my favorites.
Such a pretty song. RIP Christie
I saw them live in the late '70's in Providence, RI. I particularly love the work of their guitarist (one of the greats)/singer/songwriter. He was married to Stevie Nicks for a time. Some of his songs were Go Your Own Way, I'm So Afraid and Tusk.
R.I.P Christine. Of all the brilliant songs she wrote, I think that this one is the most beautiful and timeless. I always prefer to think of her with her birth name, rather than her married name, by which she is mostly known, because her birth name reflects her voice. Before marrying John McVie, she was Christine Perfect.
Mick Fleetwood--drums; John McVie--Bass; Christine McVie--keyboard and vocals; Stevie Nicks--vocals: Lindsay Buckingham--guitar and vocals. There have been many band member changes over the years, but when you say "Fleetwood Mac", it's those 5 that everybody automatically thinks of. All incredible talents, and Mick Fleetwood and John McVie have to be considered among the best duos when it comes to percussion and bass.
This is my favourite version of this song.
A must for someone, as yourself, who wants to experience more of Fleetwood Mac are 1. THE CHAIN (LIVE 1982) and SILVER SPRINGS (LIVE, 1997) Videos. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham (guitar player) were in an off and on turbulent romance and these songs were written about their relationship ups and downs. The tension on stage makes the performances next level compared to the album. I grew up with this band in the 70's and they will always be special...
Been to 2 Fleewood Mac concerts here in Australia fortunate to have been in the Mosh pit up close could have reached up and touched Stevie ABSOLUTELY fabulous live in concert ❤🎯
So sad every time I think of her gone. She had such a beautiful voice I’m not saying Stevie’s voice wasn’t but when you hear her remember she was backing her and great songwriter ❤
5 members Mic Fleetwood on drums Lindsay Buckingham on lead guitar John.McVie on Bass guitar Christine McVie on Piano and occasional vocals Steve Nicks vocalist and tamberines Lindsey was the other primary vocalist. The male vocalist you hear most of the time in Fleetwood Mac.
Eva Cassidy's version of this is wonderful, too. No need to choose. Enjoy them both.
RIP Christine McVie. I have seen them twice. Loved Christine, she was very modest but very talented. Christine wrote many of the group’s songs. Christine Prefect joined the band in 1971 and Married the Base Player John McVie, they later divorced. Prior to that Christine was the vocalist in a band called Chicken Shack. They had a minor hit in 1969 called I’d Rather Go Blind which was a hit for Etta James in 67. Sadly Christine passed away in November 2022 at the age of 79😢
I love Christine McVie’s voice! I need more reactions from her.
Feels! "The Dance" is a MUST own!
This beautiful song is from the epic Rumors album of 1977. Prior to recording, John and Christine McVie got divorced and Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks broke up. These breakups inspired most of the music for the album which became one of the most popular and successful albums of all time.
Christine was another secret sauce to a band. She was instrumental in writing a lot of songs for the band. Sadly we lost Christine recently. She will be sorely missed.😔
🤍
This is a great song and a crowd-pleaser, but I don’t think it can truly be appreciated until you realize it’s a breakup song, a song of letting go. Its depth is that love is worth it even with loss, even if you know the loss is coming. Music is the one art that exists in Time, it’s here and then it’s gone. It can be remembered and maybe repeated, but this performance tonight is unique and irreplaceable. Like a human life. It’s the impermanence that makes it precious. We’ll done Maddy, treasuring the music!
OMG you must do their song "don't stop " from this same 2997 concert. Epic. They even bring up a college marching band on stage. It was also used by president linton during his campaign. Christine wrote the song.
She sadly passed.
Beautiful cry this morning watching this discovery.
Christine’s maiden name was Perfect. She was married to the bass player in the band, John McVie.
Watching these videos, it's a liitle bit like watching your life pass by before your eyes. It's bittersweet; so many great memories. RIP Christine Perfect.
❤️❤️❤️
Her singing, You Make Loving Fun, Little Lies, Over My Head, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, Oh Daddy and Everywhere. She and Stevie were close, she divorced John McVie and Stevie broke up with Lindsey in legend album Rumours, so they got close sad. Many songs on that album was Christie, Lindsey and Stevie writing songs about the ex, which makes fans enjoy the drama songs more! There definitely should be a movie about this England band, had little success, broke up, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, meaning band name, Fleetwood Mac, added Christie as piano writer and singer, and few others, who kept leaving fast. Lindsey and Stevie met in college in north California, her older, started dating and playing together, living together, and made an album, Buckingham Nicks. Great songs, bomb selling, were cancelled by bosses. Lindsey and Mick Fleetwood were in same music taping place at same times Lindsey was playing guitar, and band lost their guitar singer months before..Mick loved Lindsey music, offered him the job, only to get respond...had to sign his partner, Stevie Nicks, had him listen to their album. When the two joined Mick, John and Christie, the rest is history to Hall of Fame! Have to watch Silver Springs in same concert as this song, The Dance 1997. It was supposed to be in Rumours, when Stevie and Lindsey were so raw, the song is about them, Her saying, Tell Myself, You Never Loved Me...while looking at him.. awesome to hear and watch!
You're so beautiful ❤
Before Mac , she ,as Christine Perfect, was part of a group called Chicken Shack. They had a hit with a cover of " I'd rather go blind".
Sadly, we lost Christine McVie a few years ago. Our loss was the Heavenly Choirs gain. Their sound improved immeasurably when she joined them.
She passed away only eight months ago, not a few years.
I saw Fleetwood Mac twice, once in 1976 in San Bernardino and again in 1979 when lived on Maui, Hi. It was just before their huge Rumors album came out in 1976. The most talented band I have ever seen with three lead singers Stevie, Christine and Lindsey Buckingham.
Such a beautiful and great song
She was a great counterpoint to some of the madness of Fleetwood Mac.
Christine was The Best of Them. She was there long Before Stevie and Lindsey. Rest In Peace Songbird
So beautiful. Enjoy reactions
She's the lead in "Go Your Own Way" one of their best.
Fleetwood Mac had 2 great female singers: Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. She the latter wrote "Songbird" you are reacting to. The most beautiful cover of this song was done by Eva Cassidy.
I saw the early Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green, several times, & Christine Perfect (Mc Vie) with Chicken Shack, her vocals are so soulful, check out their "When the train come back" & also their version of "I'd rather go Blind".
My favorite Fleetwood Mac song. It helped me get over the break up of my first GF when I was 14. And, a few other things since then.Timeless and powerful.
Maddie so glad you're reacting to this performance. From the same performance, please react to "silver springs" and "Bleed to love her" ...the reactions between Stevie, Lindsey, and Christine..tell the whole story of The Mac!
Another great song written by the late Christine McVie. It was on Fleetwood Mac's album "Rumours" from 1977. It has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. All the songs on it are great. "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun". "Second Hand News", "Gold Dust Woman", "The Chain" etc. Other songs from other albums are "Over My Head", "Say You Love Me", "Landslide", "Tusk", "Think About Me", "Sara", "Hold Me", "Love In Store", "Gypsy", "Oh Diane" etc.
Fleetwood Mac had a lot of different guitar players and other members before their classic lineup of Mick FLEETWOOD, (MAC) John McVie (the original drummer and bass), Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, and Christine McVie, who went by Christine Perfect before she married John McVie. She wrote Songbird for him, and even after their divorce, he says he cried every time she played it. She passed away last November. RIP. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were together, and made an album before joining the band. Their breaking up, and Christine and John's divorce, and Fleetwood dating Nicks for a while, even though they all stayed in the band off and on for 40 more years, resulted in many of their songs being written, especially the ones in their amazing second album together called Rumours for obvious reasons.
Through all their turbulence, it was always Christy for me that identified Fleetwood Mac's sound. She's, for me, among the very top of musicians that left us with so much joy for having had her songs to grow up with. Unreplaceable.

Her voice is Angelic :) @@MaddyReactions
There were 5 members of Fleetwood Mac and three of them were songwriters. The rule with Fleetwood Mac was, whoever wrote the song, sung the song.
She and her husband (bass player) are the "Mac" in Fleetwood Mac. The other is Mick Fleetwood the drummer.
Christine McVie is my favorite fe singer and especially of Fleetwood Mac.
Christine sang with the blues band Chicken Shack and released a brilliant solo album (as Christine Perfect) before joining Fleetwood Mac - long before Stevie Nicks.
Christine was so very talented, whether it was leading or backing Stevie & Lindsay. Whilst it is so sad to have lost her recently (RIP), we are all so very lucky to have so much good music to remember her for, so she will never be forgotten. 🙏
I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert in Melbourne back in 1989 only 4 rows from the front - it was EPIC.
My favourite track is The Chain because of the meaning behind it and it being the only song on the Rumours album with crediting all 5 band members (Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks & LIndsay Buckingham).
Stevie Nicks herself said that without Christine McVie there can be no Fleetwood Mac.
It’s not “I wish it for myself”, it’s “I wish it from myself.” The song is a realization that everyone around her is falling apart but she still loves them.
At least in my opinion. ❤️
Oh wow, very deep
I think I mention before I saw them in concert 70's of course. Awesome!
Melody reminds me a little of Jackson Browne's, "The Load Out and Stay ."
R.I.P. One of the greats.
