Edwin Jones: Good practice leadership within Active Support turns 'caring for' to 'working with' an individual
Dr Edwin Jones of the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, interviewed at a BILD PBS Conference, talks about his work to support provider organisations to skill up staff providing support to people with behaviours of concern. Active Support is best seen as a primary prevention within Positive Behaviour Support, organising a more 'ordinary' environment and ensuring people have a good quality of life, the main 'side effect' of this work is to make people happier and therefore significantly reduce the need for restrictive practices.
