Seamus Hawks Yeah Gibson can’t legally do a double cream pickup because DiMarzio sneakily trademarked that, haha. Both of Jimmy’s Les Pauls had double cream buckers in the bridge originally, when the original bridge pickup of his #1 broke he put a “t-top” 70s Gibson bucker in, which was black under the cover. That pickup broke in the 90s and Seymour Duncan made him a new one.
I, like many of us, have seen the two versions. The earlier one that made us watch with our mouths open in awe. Just so deeply felt and the most emotional blues they did. But, this version is my favorite. You see Plant sing it like the seasoned pro he is. Knowing when to make it spare and when to step down on it with real emotion. Jimmy was playing this like it was the early 70s and you can see he is still the top. Many keep insisting since he had that period of addiction that he lost it and still plays like he is still suffering the effects of addiction. That was so long ago. Long since recovered and back to playing like Jimmy. What it is is that Jimmy is not playing with his band, Zeppelin. He is playing with other people in a different era with different sounds. But, This concert proves the man is still the best. JPJ is the seasoned and amazing genius musician he has always been. His keys playing is impeccable. He still quietly goes about it and yet makes such a big impact. And then Jason. He plays this as his father would. He seems to be channeling dad. This is Jason's dream. Playing with his dad's band. With his mates. Being a real part of Zeppelin and playing Zeppelin. Jason, if you listen to his interviews, has said this is what he has wanted. He has dreamed of sitting in for his departed dad and doing him proud by playing in Zeppelin and being a part of it all. Of doing what he saw dad do when he got to visit when they toured. He wanted his dad to be proud of him and being able to sit in for him.
On of the coolest things about this concert was the little moments between these amazing musicians. I love the moment of interaction between Jimmy and Jason, the smiles between JPJ and Jimmy showing them just delighting being there, the giggles after the song between Robert and Jimmy. There are moments like this throughout the concert. I love how they gather around Jason and you can see the pride and joy on their faces. This was a beautiful event and tribute to the band and it's music. I don't believe they'll ever reunite but we have these wonderful moments in time to look back on for ages. It's just too bad they seemed to have such rancor after the event.
Victoria Bennington. One of the reasons that it's really annoying that Robert Plant refuses to go on tour is that it's obvious that they all really want to do it.
I completely agree with you Victoria and Nick. They do not need to become a tribute band of themselves. The legacy of their music is protected this way. As amazing as they are together, they are also amazing by themselves, in each of their solo projects. This was an extraordinary exception, and I would also love a reunion, but the only ones who can make a decision about it is all three of them, and I respect that fully. They each gave so much to the band, and to us the fans, and I am grateful for that.
Not sure I agree...what better way to pay tribute to Bonzo than share the music with soooo many fans that crave to see performed live. Besides, with todays live music being soooo lame, it would show how it should be done
They can't play like they used to but they will always sound like zep. It's the harmony between all of them that made zep zepp -- and jason fills the gap to a great extent. I only wish he used Paiste cymbals here as they're crucial to the bonham sound. Other than that I hope they don't reunite, because this was 15 years ago and they're hanging on by a thread. I hope they lived good rockstar lives and let their music live on. They won't ever recreate the sound of the 70's and that's OK
Little Robert Antony, 60yrs old at the time, hitting that G5 at 6.28 made me fall out of my chair (figuratively). The very same note he hit on the original album version of this song in 1970.
afk what you said is true. He’s obviously lost a lot of the ability he had in 2007 in comparison to 2017 when he performed whole lotta love live, and had to sing it completely differently
I love how they respect their legacy. Their music is still there to be played, but they haven't became a cover band of themselves. A legacy is forever, it never dies.... The one and only reunion was MAGNIFICENT, but it's unique, a tribute, not a world tour
I can’t believe anyone would expect them, in their age, to put on another show. Yet everyone does. They’ve already done all they set out to do. They proved it to the world. This reunion was just generous. If people want to hear them get back together they should just sit back and play a nice live show from the 70’s, and remember them at their greatest.
This man is still amazing yet I keep reading that people call his playing 'sloppy'. I think they haven't figured out that he knows exactly what he's doing. He can cut up the solos anyway he wants and that's how you know its JP playing.
Well, he really is kinda sloppy , always was. But that's what I love about his style. He plays with his heart and soul and therefor you don't need to play technically perfect. Always loved those guys who just go out and play and fuckin' rock that place. That's what Rock 'n' Roll is all about for me.

Check out his 70's performances. I came to the horrible realisation that live Jimmy is always sloppy. People can't seem to accept or hear it.
