- Thomas White, a senior at the University of Notre Dame, gives an eloquent talk in which he narrates his life with Tourette Syndrome, a neurological condition that forces him to do battle every second of every day. Not a banal sob story nor a mockery of the severe and incurable disease, his presentation is a celebration-and an expression of his determination, perseverance, and love of life that he hopes will inspire all those who suffer.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
What type of human would thumb down this video. This speaker has more courage than the thumbs down idiots will ever have.
One of my good friends has Tourette. He told me the day we met, and informed me of some of the weird things to overlook. If he hadn't done that, I woulda thought he was batshit crazy, cause at the time all I knew about Tourette was what I saw in the media. Now I just pick on him and laugh when he tells me to go fuck myself in the middle of a sentence. lol
as someone with tourettes, this is amazing, thank you Tom!
TED talks either show me how to see how good I have it or find ways to enhance my life. Love it.
The way he pulled it together at the end was inspiring.
No need sorry! You gave a great talk. Thank you.
THE BEST TED TALK EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Thomas White is so cute!!! I love his smile!😍😍😍
I'm glad he shared this. Public speaking is hard without the tics, but it's useful to see the tics and that he can speak despite/throughout them.
Thank you for sharing, Tom. I learned a lot and am inspired by you and your journey.
Very inspiring talk.
Truly inspirational.
Brilliant and amazing guy! Would be honored to be his friend.
Very inspirational, certainly your great sense of humor helps people understand this illness in an approachable way.
