  • In this video we are demonstrating the sound and volume levels of an acoustic drum kit outfitted with Zildjian L80 low volume cymbals and Remo Silentstroke low volume mesh drum heads. We compare with a traditional drum kit so that you can hear the difference in sound and volume.

We have a decibel meter set up in front of the kit to show sound pressure levels of the full kits and individual sounds around the kit.
We are using a Glyn Johns mic setup, with condenser mics roughly 46 inches above and to the side of the snare drum. We also included a snare mic, a kick drum mic and a room mic in the mix.
Volume levels of the mics are left the same for the first part that compares the two kits, and then we bring the mic levels up for the final part to demo each of the low volume drums and cymbals around the kit.
