I bought those a couple of months ago, but stopped using them just because they're too silent and really doesn't feel enjoyable to me. I prefer to use normal heads covered with old shirts instead.
Has anyone been able to get more snare response with these heads ? I do have some success with putting some blue painters tape on the head for more tone
I agree, tough to tune! I had an easy time with the bass drum, but the snare took a lot of experimentation. I had to try different snare tensions and resonant head tunings until I got it where I like it. Good luck, keep trying! 🥁🤘🥁
I hope you stuck with it and got to where you want to be! I recently put these heads on too and with some patience, got a good result. I found that the tuning and actual tone is all coming from the resonator head....you get pretty much nothing from the batter head but some adjustment for stick feel.
I am broke and I still have a crappy student snare by a shotty brand. So my snare throw off has been broken (not worth fixing, the things holding the plstic straps are stripped from wear and tear, they can’t hold the snares in place, and if I were to buy a replacement part then it would break again, so I had completely removed the throw off and Butt plate mechanism and what I had done for a while is I had the nylon straps going through the rim in between the rim and head, but that wasn’t holding tension so I ended up just taping the snare wire thing to the reso head - on the inside of the snare drum!!! I know it seems crazy but it sounds decent, but im worried that if I get a new snare drum all together and put my silent stroke head on, it won’t give me the sound I have now
at the end of the day i came to the conclusion that no matter how 'good' you tune a snare with these heads, you'll never achieve a good sound, just because the point is its supposed to be quiet and for practice only. If you want a good sound, you need real heads that are gonna be loud. I'm wondering how good an ead10 trigger is on these heads though
I noticed I had to crank my snare side head pretty high, too. Still not "perfect", but, I'll play a silentstroke head over a practice pad, any day!

That was always the trickiest part for me! I ended up experimenting with the snare side head tuning a lot

I think you're right for sure, are you gonna try some triggers?
Trouble is they are too quiet.
