    That statement by Gilroy should be fkn Gospel in the writing room.
    I love Andor. My expectations for S2 are stupid high.
    Would love for him to continue the gritty story telling post Andor/Death Star explosion leading up to ESB.
    Prob is im sure the Gilroy’s would be seeking other challenges outside of SW after S2.

      Yea I don’t think he would do another thing in SW, but people MUST learn from his writing.

    Personal experience does not equal truth. Often times that alienates audiences when storytelling isn’t the main focus. And it was clear that Leslie Headland wanted to focus on her more than story.

    • @TheForceFandom
      @TheForceFandom  2 місяці тому

      Absolutely. Your personal experience can and should be a part of the film you make, it has to be. But finding that line is far trickier than most want to admit.
      Can you think of any other examples where this is done well in the Star Wars universe other than with Tony Gilroy?

    Very well put together, a nice contrast between "writing styles" if we can call them that and the success of each project. Looking forward to Season 2 of Andor, it will be interesting to see if there is a review bombing campaign by "Acolyte-loyalists". Cause it wouldn't be a Star Wars project without "Toxic Fans" right?

    The idea of having sisters at the end of both spectrum is not bad. But that has to be well written. And that was not the case for the acolyte. Just curious if you saw the squeleton crew new trailer. Curious to know how you feel about it.

    Saying that Andor didn't meet Disney's viewership expectations probably isn't accurate. I've gone back to watch Andor multiple times since my first view. I doubt the same has happened or will happen for the Acolyte

      But the initial ratings were low. Overtime it has gotten an audience but still way smaller than even Kenobi had.

    The difference is that one is a master storyteller and the other is an amateur. Seriously, after reading the script, who gave Acolyte a green light? I would have told her, yo…your script sucks. Write it again or better yet, let’s hire someone who can actually tell a coherent story.

    It wasn't two different writing styles. One has talent. The other is a self insert no talent hack. Only one writing style was exhibited.

    Quite literally putting words in her mouth. She never said she was putting herself in the show, she said she is just putting stuff she likes. Guess what, that's what artists do! Deadpool is craft off the stuff that Reynolds likes and is good at it, most Dwayne Johnston movies are tailored to show off what he's good at, Jackson put stuff in Lord of the Rings because HE was passionate about it, the whole foundation of Star Wars is built on Lucas's own personal beliefs, Tarantino movies are filled with references of stuff that he has seen and liked, a lot of comedy movies use improv based on what the comedian finds funny, James Gunn puts in characters and style that HE finds interesting, The Matrix was based off of other art that the Wachowski sisters liked and admired, the list could go on forever...
    It's stuff like this that makes actors indifferent to this part of the audience. If a project gets made by committee to please the most number of people, this group of Star Wars fans complain because it's soulless and made by a corporation. If it's a personal project, but the style doesn't fit their own, then they complain that the artist is selfish and doesn't care about the fanbase, while also crucifying anyone that doesn't make something that fits exactly what they like.

    • @TheForceFandom
      @TheForceFandom  2 місяці тому +4

      She literally talks about how her sister and her were the story then it shifted to her father.
      Obviously all artists have some of them in their art, but the more you make it about you and not the characters or the story the worse it gets.

    • @mike9512
      @mike9512 2 місяці тому

      @@TheForceFandom But these aren't real people. They're fictional people. They only exist because the artist comes up with them. The characters don't exist on their own, they are whatever the artist makes them.
      And again, there are countless examples, many in Star Wars, where characters and story take a back seat to things like product placement, visuals, or cause Lucas wanted to do whatever weird s*** he wanted to do.
      But it's kind of like "pick a lane". Because if it's a case of this specific woman's vision is ruining Star Wars, then it's not by committee. And if that's the case, then the only message that is being sent is "we don't want unique visions". Which means we're just gonna get more stuff by committee.
      Or it is by committee, and this woman has nothing to do with it, and it was purely studio interference, so why are you doing a video about her?
      And I get from the fans perspective, it's "we want unique visions, but we only want the unique visions that we like".
      But that's not how the process works. Again, like Lucas. He can be a genius, but he can also drop a big turd. When it's run by committee's it's reliable but predictable. If you let creatives take control, then you may get genius, but you may also get a dud. Especially for a 50 year old franchise. If people want interesting, creative takes on this franchise, then support it even through the valleys, or, at the very least, don't throw all this hate, harassment, and criticism at the creatives every time (not directing all of those at you). If people want predictable, reliable Star Wars run by a committee, then complain and push the creatives out.
      I think it's generally that simple, but the idea you're gonna get bangers every time when it's run by creatives is never gonna happen.

      You're trying to appeal to people and so-called "fans" who clearly have an agenda of their own, claiming that writers/directors/actors have their own agenda. They should really stop selling microphones because not everyone has earned the right to "influence" anything. The Acolyte was fine, and people like this guy's channel were the same people who crucified the now-beloved prequels that were hated so harshly that Ahmad Best (Jar Jar Binks actor) considered self-deletion, Jake Lloyd experience horrendous bullying, and Hayden Christenson lost his career. Andor was dreadfully dull for the first 4 episodes before it finally picked up, but Acolyte was writing by a woman, staring women of color, and hinted at a LGBTQ relationship so it was a target for the anti-Woke crowd before it even premiered. Never forget The People vs George Lucas that basically contributed to Lucas selling Star Wars to Disney in the first place.

      @@mike9512 i agree that when you let creatives take a shot it can be hit or miss. But you have to have better quality control.

      @TheForceFandom And it would be fine if it was just the Acoylte, but this happens a lot. It's part of a pattern. And I think the message Disney takes out of that is "let's not take risks".
