It always impresses me how humble Tony is while talking about the difficulties in the process of making Andor. For us to watch it full and done is easy, but building that show must have been insanely hard. We're really lucky for this team's job

Definitely felt that as well when I watched it! The imperials being so scared of a funeral really rhymed with the IRA funerals at the time.

It is absolutely wonderful that you have talked with Tony Gilroy. I now understand much better how it is possible that Andor is many times better writing wise than any other SW movie or show made in the last decade. Again knowledge and understanding of history is the backbone of good writing. Even in sci-fi/space opera, cause history repeats itself all the time. Almost always when I run into something well written I found out it was done by someone who spend a lot of time reading/learning history.

George R.R Martin did something similar with Song of Ice and Fire, where he pulled from various historical events to craft a story that felt historically authentic despite being fantasy. That’s why, in a lot of ways, Andor’s writing is reminiscent of the writing in early Game of Thrones.

God I hope kevin fiege sees the success and approach to this show and let's daredevil born again tell real grounded stories. I could care less about the rest of the mcu or star wars for that matter. What I know for certain is ill watch whatever the Gilroys do next.

You might have predicted something with this comment, they just pulled an Andor and started over with everything after the writers strike ended

Please forward this message to mr. Gilroy. Andor resonated with me because of how several incidents in the show happened in some way to my family. I was taken away as a child. My mother is an activist like Maarva. They attempted to capture her by setting a trap at her father's funeral. Attacks like Adhani are very common tactics of guerrilla movements. Saw Guerrera reminds me of Guevara, who was merciless. Honestly, showing him in a similar way would add to the character and remind everyone how ruthless war is.
I wanted to simply thank him for writing a story that had several beats that were similar to what my family experienced.

@@calebtaran9486 Nicaragua in 70s and 80s. Revolution happened in 70s. My family was caught up in it. We had refugees that lived with us in Nicaragua. After the revolution we went back and saw it was tyranny and communism. We made our escape that way. My parents put us on a plane to the US after my mom had to get a signature from all our neighbors that I, a 7 year old boy, wasn't an enemy of the Revolution. My grandfather was under house arrest, guarded by a young teen with an AK. Our family farm was confiscated.
My mother openly resists the current regime. Her father died and they tried to catch her at his funeral and showed up in force. She never attended.

I'm glad he didn't allow the attempt to paint him into the "pushing the agenda" corner. So much tongue in cheek SJW culture being forced as the center piece of stories today and it's all hot garbage.
If you want to highlight politics, write good and full characters whose lives weave in an out of those issues. A story is nothin without good characters.

Yeah I see people bringing up a lot but you can clearly see various historical influences in the show that are so much more depthful and saying it's about current events. Of course you can make it applicable to current events but it's also inspired by millenia of human history.
