I'm crying over a doll depicting an ambulatory wheelchair user. Also, the babe with a mobility aid keychain hit my heart so hard. As someone who will be facing loss of mobility continuously for the majority of my life, seeing someone outside of the chronic illness community acknowledging us as people who can enjoy alternative fashions and rock it, this will forever be one of my favorite dolls Katherine has ever made. She's gorgeous and the meticulous nature in which you created ever detail will always be mesmerising. Thank you so much.
@@liltaxfraud5292 that has nothing to do with anything. If someone slightly annoys you that doesn't mean they deserved to get bullied by jerks like you.

I am genuinely obsessed with the way this video was cut together... most people would’ve gone out of their way to advertise this doll has a disability through the whole video, but she literally treated it as another accessory. This is how disability should be treated; it’s not an advertising point, it’s just part of who we are. Thank you Darling 💖
I’m sobbing!!I’m disabled, I’ve been like this since the start of quarantine because of a car crash.Dollightful. If your reading this.Thank you!I finally feel apart of something, Really. Thank you :)
Holy smokes, that sounds terrible. Hope you and any loved ones are alright by now and you didn’t suffer a greater loss. I really do love this channel and the inclusivity is so great
From one disabled person to another I hope you're doing alright ❤️ take care and don't be afraid to reach out to disability communities on different platforms. There's lots of us over on Twitter!
I don’t think most people understand how important representation is- my grandma has been in a wheelchair for most of her life and has kept a limited edition Barbie with a wheelchair for over 20 years I really hope doll makers make more disabled dolls they really do mean a lot :)
As someone who suffers from a chronic illness and has thought about using mobility aids before, this doll was absolutely amazing to see!! It helps to normalize people using mobility aids but still being able to stand and walk on their own! Thank you so much for this doll, she is beautiful and my new favorite❤️❤️
Yes! Not everyone who uses mobility aids use them all the time. I have a friend who was accused of child abuse because someone at their complex noticed that her daughter uses a wheelchair, a walker, and sometimes walking canes. They thought she was either injuring her repeatedly or forcing her to use them. We were all appalled that someone would believe that, but also not understand that some people my need mobility aids sometimes but not all the time. Anyways, I hope you take the leap and consider your needs above other's misconceptions. If your life would be better and enriched by having an aid, then you have nothing to loose and so much to gain! I consider it no different than choosing any other form of self care. We need what we need. Ya know? Wishing you the best.
@bearybear711 I made the decision to start using an aid after a really draining convention 2019... I only use it part time mainly when I'm by myself or in really bad flares and I honestly thought it would be a much bigger transition into my life than it was. I did get some response with work but if you communicate well with your HR they will help you if that is one of your reasons for not (would bring walker to work but than needed it stored during my shift as wouldn't be safe to leave out with the kids running around)...also I'm only 28
Aw it’s sad that you may not be able to walk properly but you all must have some special ability that you have or have not found yet. My mother always says that disabled people always have some special talents others don’t
I still have to use a cane from time to time after my hip surgery, and I often get a lot of dirty looks because I’m so young. I can walk fine 99% of the time, but overdoing it exhausts the muscles they had to cut through for surgery, and sometimes they spasm. Definitely normalize mobility aids for people that appear “normal”!
This meant so much to me as a disabled person. I had to use a chair for the first time at work today and it was hard. But then I come home and see this!!!! My heart
i really love how Katherine was just like "oh here's a fun colorful wheelchair for our little lolita cutie!" at the very end, and not making the entire video "oh, look how inclusive i am!!"
Same! She does representation right. She creates representation without pandering as in real life, people probably don’t want to be defined only by one aspect of themselves.
@@Cookiejar83 yes! same with Aquarien she was just like "yeah, their prolly enby" then just carried on! as a non binary myself that made me so happy that one of my favorite UA-camrs made a gender non-conforming character!
I always love how diverse Dollightful dolls are. They have different skin tones, different types of hair, disabilities that really make the doll stand out. Thanks for making dolls more diverse than I've ever seen edit: thank you for the likes
can we please just appreciate the fact that she's a part time wheelchair user, rather then full time! as this shows that not all wheelchair users are dependant on their chairs, which as a part time wheelchair users, I have struggled with this stereotype since I was little. So this is fabulous representation!
YESS, I have a friend in my Girl Scout troop who uses one, and she was so nice to explain how it worked to me and I’ve never seen anyone mention it in any media I’m sorry I’m just so fucking happy❤❤❤❤❤❤
The fact that just a week ago I was gushing to a friend about Dollightful being probably one of the most mindfully inclusive customizers out there with race, genders, sexualities, & body types. & then she continues to keep me amazed & inspired by creating a doll with a disability?????? We love to see it. Excellent work yet again!!!
@@TheMadWrldEffct Lets just say...i dated a katherine and she basc made someone write a break up message, lied about me sexually assaulting her, lied about me taking advantage of her fucking SISTER and kept ghosting me and was secretly cheating on me lol
I love that you show her standing but also sitting in her wheelchair. Not every wheelchair user is confined to their chair because of paralysis or because of another disorder that renders their legs useless. I have an invisible illness that causes me a lot of pain and can limit what I do. Say for instance I wanted to go to the state fair or zoo, I'd need to use a wheelchair because I can't walk for very long without hurting myself. Yet I don't need to use one in day to day life if that makes sense. Edit: wow.. I didn't expect this to blow up. I'm glad I could reach so many people and educate them.
@@pearlmoon3057 yeah of course 😊 in my experience I feel like the vast majority of people don't know that unless they have friends or are related to a person that uses a wheelchair like I do.
Yes!! My Nana uses a wheelchair when she has to go out, but she doesnt use it at home bc she can walk around. Shes just slow moving bc of her ms. I was at a store with her once and she stood up from her wheelchair to get something and a woman glared at her over it. People dont realize that sometimes folks in wheelchairs can still stand.
@@Soupcowboy I know 😑 it's disappointing. I get glared at all the time if I stand up from my chair to use the restroom. Its usually older folks who glare and talk trash. Go figure. I don't like bringing it in there because it's a public restroom and you get people from all walks of life with all different kinds of diseases and stds. I just don't want to spread potential germs/diseases since I don't own my on chair and I usually borrow the chair from the place I'm at. I don't want to risk spreading those germs to someone who's imunocomprimised or has an auto immune disorder.
This made me remember the time my sister broke one of her doll's leg. The leg was torn apart in a way that I could't fix it without compleatly gluing it (maybe I could if it would happen now but I was 10 years old at the time). She was really upset about it so I made a wheelchair using cardbox and bottle caps. The wheels weren't moving and it looked like garbage but I was really proud of it and my sister loved it!
that you wanted to help shows what an amazing sib you are. that you came up with a way within your abilities To help shows you're also a very creative and thoughtful person to boot. i think anyway. ^_^
10:00 I love the fact that Katherine has worked with various power tools, constructed functioning homemade circuits, sewn meticulously detailed outfits, mastered clay sculpting, dismembered and reconstructed entire dolls, managed multiple social media accounts AND collaborated with numerous big creators and industry professionals, but is still afraid of doing jacket linings 😭💟
Well. Honestly there are some things that your scared your gonna mess up on. And dissapoint people or make them ask why you couldn't do it or why you were scared to. I'm scared of multiple things because of how I feel the outcome might be- Maybe thats why ? 😅
I'm not apart of the disabled community, but I was honestly surprised when I saw the wheelchair. She didn't put it in the title or the thumbnail like "Disabled doll!" or anything like that. She doesn't say like "omg guys i'm so inclusive with all my dolls, let me tell you" she just...did it. And honestly I think it's a nice breath of fresh air.
Not only did it come out of seemingly nowhere (that key chain makes sense now, huh?) but she doesn't expand on why she made it or what inspired it. It's just "This is my newest lolita, she has a super cute dress that I spent hours on and look at this tiny backpack! Also she's a part-time wheelchair user, I've got a tutorial and pattern for the wheelchair too if you're interested. ANYWAY, look how cute her hair and dress are! I love pastels and lolita fashion!!!!! AUNYUNG!!!! ^U^" Dolligtful is a queen and I love her
When I saw the tiny little “#babewithamobilityaid” keychain I was like “oh my god no way no way no way what is she gonna do ommgggg” and NOTHING could’ve prepared me for that SUPER cute wheelchair oh my goodness!!! 😭😭😭💕💕💕✨ I’m a disabled person myself with my own colourful chair (and a lolita!) and this just broke me (but in the good way!) it is SO GOOD. This is hands down my favourite doll you’ve ever done, she is perfect. I cannot WAIT for your chair tutorial I will absolutely be making one (or several!). I collect toy wheelchairs but there’s so few out there and it’s so hard to find the right size for specific toys to make use of so this is just everything, I’m so excited!!! 💖✨
I had that same reaction as someone who also uses a wheelchair and dresses Lollita when I feel up to it. It is so lovely to see someone make a disabled doll! I hope you have a great day!
I was about to make a similar comment when I saw yours! I'm also a disabled lolita and cheered so loud at the "babe with a mobility aid" keychain that I scared my chinchilla. I literally have a "babe with a mobility aid" sticker on my cane!
I AM SO HAPPY!!! It is such a rarity to see disabled dolls!! To see one that is so like me is just such a joy!! There is such a wide variety of mobility aids that you could add to dolls too- cute canes, different styles of walkers, joint braces, to see one of them made my day!
I love how katherine didnt make the doll all about how shes disabled. It really shows that she doesnt think of this doll any different or special. Her inclusivity is amazing and I live to see her work ❤
@@Um_236 Yep! Especially when stopping, starting, and turning. Your hands can get super calloused and blistered doing that all the time if you’re not careful, it can even cause joint issues. Extra protection from cold and rain helps too

I love how she's always trying new hairstyles for her re-paints and re-customs. I feel like at this point, she could do box braids with the amount of talent that she has
Probably depends on finding the right material that looks like it. I do know that as of her blue stock box oceanic doll she couldn't actually braid nylon doll hair. Still, it would be nice to see!

Catherine, I’m not gonna lie, i genuinely teared up when I saw the wheelchair. As someone with an invisible disability that effects me a lot and means I sometimes must use a wheelchair myself it meant a lot to see you, someone who I admire so much include this detail. I started watching you just before my health began to decline and your videos have been one of the few things that really cheer me up when I can’t cope with my pain levels, so from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so, so much for including the wheelchair and disabled tag on her bag ❤️
As soon as I saw the wheelchair I started crying. I'm chronically ill and in order to hang out with my friends, I have to be mobile for most of the day and having a wheelchair has made me comfortable knowing that I have an option if I'm not strong enough to walk. Thank you for never being afraid to look outside the box 😊❤🧡💛💚💙💜
You wanna know what I'd love to see Katherine attempt some day? A punk doll- or at least, pastel punk. I just know that she'll put her own spin on it that makes it so "Dollightful" yet still respectful to the genre. Anyone else agree?
It would be cool to see her make one like she did her nature doll (using alot of found materials like twigs and recycling scraps) since punk is a very DIY fashion
WHEN I TELL YOU I ALMOST *CRIED* SEEING THE WHEELCHAIR. i have a lot of issues with walking and ive found myself having to use wheelchairs several times in my life. its really wonderful to see you making something like this! i absolutely adore her!!!
Oh my god, I'm not even a wheelchair user but I'm really about to cry over this 💗 I have NEVER seen a doll with mobility aids, let alone a wheelchair user that isn't 100% bound to the chair 😭😭 You've always been the most amazing doll customizer to me for this stuff, thank you for making such wonderful inclusive works 💗💕
Same here. I use a wheelchair as a mobility aid but I can still walk. So many people are under the impression that those in chairs can’t walk at all and when they see you out of it they think you’re faking.
Same, you said it so much better than I ever could. There's this huge misconception that people who use wheelchairs cannot stand at all, and when they do stand that they must be faking their disability. It really gets under my skin when people say stuff about faking a disability when they don't even know what they're talking about. I'm most likely going to end up using a wheelchair because of my joint condition. So it just really irks me when people think wheelchair users have to sit 100% of the time.

I knew right from the reroot I was going to love her but oh my WORD. She is the sweetest. And I love love LOVE how you took the fingerless gloves from the original doll and made them wheelchair gloves. What a brilliantly simple idea that gave way to such an adorable fun design. Quit fucking using glitter. It's TERRIBLE for the environment. You guys like tiny particles of shiny plastic seeping into your pores, huh? Don't have enough micro particles of plastic built up in your blood stream, and bodily tissue already?

Kathrine I absolutely love you, you have so much diversity in you dolls and I can't explain how happy it makes me. You have dolls of color, gay dolls that you actually pose and draw being in love, a nonbinary doll, and now a doll with a wheelchair. hey katherine, when i saw the wheelchair i almost burst into tears. as someone with mobility issues and a huge interest in pastel fashion, this was so cool to see. thank you
This is just a suggestion- Have you ever thought of making an Albino character? Albinos are people who are born with extremely light skin and even lighter hair, and dark eyes, sometimes red.
Actually, I don’t think people with albinism have dark/red eyes, because they lack skin, hair, and other pigmentation, i think their irises are like clear I think, and the light can make it look red/purple
I love love LOVE how you have her out of the wheelchair in some photos. A lot of people don't realize that many wheelchair users are part-time users, and use the wheelchair as their disability requires. She's SO cute. 😍
Gods, I genuinely teared up when the wheelchair was brought out, I've never seen a character in media who's both disabled and happy- so this means the world to me
i love how she doesn’t say stuff like “oh i made this wheelchair for her look at how representative i am” instead of making a big deal out of it she’s just like “oh here’s this super cute wheelchair!”
I love how casually the wheelchair was included, like it wasn’t something to boast about including because it’s a normal thing for people to use and have!! Dollighful is great 🥺
I’m curious to know if the lil keychain that says “babe with mobility aid” is from Annika Victoria? If so that’s really adorable!!! I’m really excited to see how the wheelchair will be made!

I did get some response with work but if you communicate well with your HR they will help you if that is one of your reasons for not (would bring walker to work but than needed it stored during my shift as wouldn't be safe to leave out with the kids running around)...also I'm only 28
As a person with a disability, I 100% agree, it’s so amazing to finally have some representation! Thanks so much Dollightful.❤️❤️❤️
I like the fact that she has a wheelchair. She's adorable.

I have an invisible illness that causes me a lot of pain and can limit what I do. Say for instance I wanted to go to the state fair or zoo, I'd need to use a wheelchair because I can't walk for very long without hurting myself. Yet I don't need to use one in day to day life if that makes sense.

And this one is in a wheelchair when everyone else was torn limb from limb XD
The wheelchair is so cool. She's so cute. I use a wheelchair on occasion to get around so i definitely think she's one of my favorites you've created so far.
Hi! Disabled person here. I LOVE the wheelchair! When I saw the “#babewithmobilityaid” I immediately got super excited! I also liked how you included her standing because a lot of wheelchair users CAN walk and stand! Charley is super cute, I love her!
DUDE I STARTED BALLING WHEN I SAW HER IN THE WHEELCHAIR HNN I use one sometimes as a mobility aid and I never see it in doll customizing!!! Especially not a decorated one!!! It feels so real and authentic and personal to Charley and I love it 🥺💖 not to mention just how amazing charley looks 💖🐀
Kathrine I absolutely love you, you have so much diversity in you dolls and I can't explain how happy it makes me. You have dolls of color, gay dolls that you actually pose and draw being in love, a nonbinary doll, and now a doll with a wheelchair. You could just make dolls that look and act like you, but you don't. You care enough to have this much representation in your line up, so thank you
Wait!!! There’s a nb doll?
@@wouldntyouliketoknowweathe9145 Yes! It's her sea dragon Aquarien. I got so excited when I saw that they were nonbinary

@@wouldntyouliketoknowweathe9145 There's kinda also a trans doll she made as a collab with NerdECrafter :))
I love this doll so much! She is missing something, though.......
A goth girlfriend! 🖤💖
YASSS
Maybe she can use that partially customized moth doll and make a pastel goth gf?
I would love to see that!
Tatsuo has a sister, right? 😅
Why do people always want black girls to be gay
I'd like to think, when Katherine customizes a doll, the other dolls discuss with each other what the new doll will become. And they welcome the newly customized doll into their little community. ❤
that is the best thing ever
thats adorable
I've always thought about it that way too!
Thats such a cute concept holy smokes
So like toy story. Tho she'd be alot like Sid with the dismemberment...
An idea I just thought of! I myself is a goth, and would love to see a proper goth doll (I know we have Tatsuo, but I wanna see the girly craze with lace and accessories), but you love the colorful, pastel lolita dolls so much, how about a pastel goth? I'd love love love to see that :3
Yes!! I'd also love to see her go nuts with trad goth makeup, I think she could have a lot of fun with it :)
I’ve always wanted to see her take on one of those lacy goth umbrella things (not trying to be offensive lol just an emo not knowing words)
@@b0illin_mud0ne79 I think it's just a parasol
@@b0illin_mud0ne79 a parasol, they're very pretty
i 2nd this! that would be incredible
hey katherine, when i saw the wheelchair i almost burst into tears. as someone with mobility issues and a huge interest in pastel fashion, this was so cool to see. thank you
This is just a suggestion-
Have you ever thought of making an Albino character? Albinos are people who are born with extremely light skin and even lighter hair, and dark eyes, sometimes red.
ooo that would be awesome! more representation!! :D
And maybe a doll with vitiligo!!! I'd love to see both ❤️
Actually, I don’t think people with albinism have dark/red eyes, because they lack skin, hair, and other pigmentation, i think their irises are like clear I think, and the light can make it look red/purple
@@benedictdwyer2608 well the iris is a muscle, and without pigmentation muscles are generally red soo... it also is red in non human albino animals
@@boo_blue_boo9229 as someone with multiple albino cousins, that’s a myth. Their eyes are a light icy/ocean blue!! Very pretty :)
"i rummaged around and found this!"
*doll clunks onto table*
Very graceful
@@babyclara5047 she's beauty she's grace
As felix kjellberg once said.
"Graceful, as a hippo".

That is where I heard it from! Did Annika start that hashtag herself? I was looking over people who used it on instagram to find some awesome ladies with mobility aids for inspiration. Shucks, if I had know she invented the hashtag I would have credited her! I'm a big fan.
@@Dollightful Yes Annika is the one who started the hashtag, really inspiring!
@@Dollightful you can still tag her on IG pics!
@@Dollightful I'm really sorry the Wendigo doll video and the doll itself had to get taken down Katherine, but don't give up maybe you can turn her into something else like a vampire, yokai, ghost, grim reaper, pokemon, Witch doctor, day of the dead, Druid, or an undead dragon. I've believe Wendy the Wendigo deserves a much better form than to just be thrown away.
I am truly sorry Katherine, I have been going through loads of stress and bad times too. But I believe in hope for a better tomorrow, I've seen your work & I know your doing better than ever. Don't beat yourself up Dollightful you work so hard to produce dolls for us and you never get a break, I hope you enjoyed this doll! I know your fans do! 💖✨🌱. :)
Dollightful I believe she did!! That’s where I first heard it and I think she has merch with that hashtag. I also think she would really love your doll!!! You should definitely tag her on instagram when ya post about Charley!
i've commented on this video so many times but the excitement i feel every time i rewatch it and the memory of slowly realizing charley would be in a wheelchair as i first watched the video (the hands with gloves, the babe w/ a mobility aid tag on her backpack, and then the full reveal of her chair) brings me so much genuine joy. i love this doll and the fact that you took the time and put so much love and effort into her and making her seem real means so much to me!
as someone with chronic pain seeing a doll in a wheelchair (especially such a meticulously crafted one) makes me so happy 😭😭😭
My little sister has chronic pain in all parts of her body and seeing this video and reading this comment really made me happy. It brings joy to my heart seeing such an open and welcoming community
As a disabled person who’s watched your content for years I absolutely adore this doll and how you didn’t user her disability as clickbait. she’s treated as just another project rather than a performative act to gain more views, I also really enjoyed the tag on her backpack, it was a very nice touch
Dollightful: *creates human ears *
Dollmotion: !?
Something you might want to add for this dolls wheelchair is a few stickers on the side. I love to decorate my chair with stickers and so do other disabled people I know
this doll is absolutely incredible! from the meticulous detailing on the clothes to the thoughtful accessories you’ve REALLY outdone yourself this time! I really appreciate that you decided to make a disabled wheelchair user, I’ve been using a wheelchair in public spaces for years now and it’s so rare to see such casual (and cute!) representation like this!! it really made my day 🥺💕 I can’t wait to see the follow up wheelchair tutorial! soon ALL of my dolls will have their own matching wheelchairs just like ME!!
I actually started crying when I found out that she was gonna have a wheelchair. Representation matters, especially in fashion communities where mobility aids aren't seen too often!! Thank you so much for this Katherine! I know she was a doll you made for yourself as mentioned in the beginning, but all your dolls seem to be for someone else as well
You started crying when you figured out she was crippled? what a crybaby
@@liltaxfraud5292 excuse me? She was happy that there was more representation. She was not being a crybaby, leave if you don't have anything nice to say.
@@liltaxfraud5292 Wow. You go out of your way to be a jerk or does it just come naturally to you?
@@liltaxfraud5292 how about we spread positivity not hate, thanks :)
@@reillydoran2459 did you even read his comment? In the begining he literally says he started crying because of it that's a crybaby if I've ever seen one
what a cutie pie! char totally looks like juwon’s little sister, like she’s been introduced into the world of street fashion and lolita fashion by maybe her big brother and his friends
im so happy you decided to give her a mobility aid! my names charlee (similar :D ) and i have an invisible disorder which can make my joints super achey after a short amount of movement and makes breaks/ sprains hurt for longer, so much so that i use crutches to move around sometimes. however im lucky enough to not have to use them all the time and its amazing to see this represented in a doll :)
I have a similar disorder!! I had to use crutches for most of middle school, and then I got a wheelchair because the crutches made the joints in my arms hurt worse. This video made me so happy, and seeing comments like these make me feel less alone, it's really wonderful to see!!❤️❤️❤️
"Can you read it?"
Me, with no knowledge of how to read Korean, "Yes!"
AWESOME job
How many subs can I get from comments current 4
Just gonna drop it out there: as much as we absolutely love the modded dolls, we also love every style of doll you make, so don't feel pressured to not take this "self care breaks" whenever you feel the need ❤️
Imagine if Katherine left the wolf ears the way they were, Charley could’ve been Juwon’s little sister or something
Maybe it’s a recessive gene
@@daybreak8752 OMG YESSS
Having a mobility aid is a big part of my life and it really means a lot to me that you made this doll. I feel seen and I'm so so happy that there's a doll out there that's like me
Not me crying bc I'm a disabled Lolita and I felt very seen in this.
Thank you so much for your creation it's so beautiful and I'm really thankful you included people like me in your inspiration; it means a lot x
gosh, she’s easily another one of my absolute favorites from you! that yarn for the hair is gorgeous, and the wheelchair, aaah!! i love the diversity in your dolls and in all their designs, all of your lolita dolls have such distinct personalities and looks! she’s a wonderful addition, you really outdid yourself katherine
When I saw the wool she was going to use I was like YES YES OH MY GOD YES, so pretty
I like how the dollightful community specifically isn’t toxic and is mostly just a really chill and nice place ❤️
