Between BiBi and a lot of your dolls you two could staff a whole damn spaceship by yourselves, honestly. It would certainly be the most fashionable vessel this side of the galaxy! 😊
I felt so bad when I saw the shot of Bibi on the floor, I was crying internally. I’ve had that happen to me where I think a project is good and done and then worst comes to worst. But positively, Bibi came out looking spectacular as always. Great doll!
I love everything about her, especially her legs, and her mythos! Fun fact: Some animals on earth actually use magnetism, such as for navigation! So Bibi having a specialized skull that utilized magnetism inherently could actually make her an ideal communication officer. This would also make sense with why she has her additional sensory organs like the antenna, and explain her large ears and huge eyes as well! She's built to notice things! Perhaps she has special magnetism that, in tandem with her antenna, helps her locate her crewmates by tracking their emblems magnetically, and thus is able to relay messages to them or direct them to each other a lot easier than someone else would be able to. Perhaps it would help her pick up approaching ships a lot faster too, working well with her other sensory organs to make her great at finding people to communicate with them. As someone who loves applying science in fictional species, Bibi is a treasure trove, and one of my favorite dolls you've made! Thank you for sharing her, and her journey with us! The moment where the helmet's crack was revealed post-fall was one of the most emotional heart-tugging things I've seen in crafting in a long while, honestly, and I gasped. Ah, she's so cute! And the "roughness" of her suit kind of fits I'd say, like she's modified the parts herself to suit her aesthetic more. The whole line-up is out of this world, and they have a lot of classic alien elements while still being unique and fun.
agreed, the roughness can be considered wear and tear from adventures she went on. plus wouldn't changes be more difficult with 3d printed pieces? like you made the concept a but it turns out it does not look good on the doll and then you wasted 3d materials.
You brought up the idea of her race evolving a magnetic skull and now I'm thinking that maybe having magnetic skulls would result in a sort of hypersensitivity to a planet's magnetism? I've noticed you've been a little more down on your work recently. You always want to strive for improvement but the stuff you make is so incredible it literally makes my jaw drop. So don't get down on yourself your work is beyond amazing ❤️
I really appreciate the honesty of dollightful voicing her frustration... It's ok to not be totally ok with how something turned out. A lot of doll customisation is showing something that you did for the first time, so it's all learning on the go. A lot of people in the doll world struggle with perfectionism too and having the courage to say "it's good enough" even if it didn't achieve your vision is hard but important. As viewers we LOVE dollightfuls work and it's so much better than we could make so she could just not say anything and we would be none the wiser. (I know a lot of people do this) but her actually voicing it for sure helps us (well at least me!) Understand the artists we look up to also have mishaps and parts they're not as happy with...
Learning about Babylightful has recontextualized every single video in the last nine months. I heard "I had to take care of some rather urgent non-doll-related business" and I was like "OMG BABE TAKE YOUR TIME THIS IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT WE LOVE YOU" when there's literally no evidence it was related
I hate the new changes, like learn to use a condom. Bc now we’ll likely get less videos. And what if the baby breaks a doll? I’ve never wanted to throw a kid off a building but I’ll make an exception.
@@isabelle_crossing6917 Not appropriate at all. She's allowed to have a life. We aren't entitled to her content. Wishing harm on her child is horrible. Rethink your priorities.
I actually really like that her helmet has a crack, it could be a tie to a backstory or character trait! Maybe she's clumsy, and she's had this suit for a long time! Things like that add so much character.
Honestly the paint imperfections make it just look like she has textured skin. Adds a little bit of fun. Plus is makes a fun time guessing why her species would have those textured features.
I love the idea of Officer Bubbles being a dimensional traveler. I also, now have a head canon that when the other, more aggressive crewmembers are down, she proves herself to be the most dangerous of all.
BiBi, speaking into a communicator with a mean gurl voice: "yeah, the gang is all down i need some back up, could y'all do that? thankyuuu~" -BiBi dashes forward with an aggresive face -several portals open, a mishmash of visually constrasting and weird ships come out of them _and that's when they knew, they messed up_
@@coffee-ouji honestly, the fact that she is sturdier looking compared to the other crewmates proves your point, she might be small but very strong, to compensate for her height
That's actually great world building with the head magnets. She could be communications officer because her species can naturally pick up radio waves when they concentrate (hence the magnetic skulls). Regardless of tech at her disposal, she would be able to receive messages and relay them to her team regardless. she was built for the job (literally)
Since she's communications maybe the magnets in her head allow her to receive messages? Like maybe her whole species can transmit and recieve messages from eachother because of their magnetic skulls! And that's what makes her worthy of being a communications officer
You're always so hard on yourself, and I guess it's true that artists are always their own worst critics. But I just wanted to leave a comment reminding you that you have such amazing talents, and that you're an inspiration to aspiring artists and customizers. In fact- My final year project for University features sculptures I could never have made if not for all the things I learnt from your channel. LITERALLY. Thank you for what you do. You really do touch lives.
RE: 3D printing the parts vs sculpting, I actually really love that you used more accessible materials for the majority of this build. Since 3D modeling and printing isn't something everyone can do, seeing you successfully sculpt hard surface parts by hand using epoxy is super helpful for anyone who wants to get into doll customizing and might not know this is something you can pull off so cleanly by hand! The end result is SO sharp, stellar work as always
I know everyone compliments your dolls, (completely deserved they are gorgeous.) But in case no one else has done so yet your art is so pretty. Seriously good work across all boards.
The perseverance you had throughout this project and getting the adorable result still just shows how amazing you are! I hope you next project, whenever that happens, is much more cooperative to you.
I loved seeing all the dolls together in the end ! They're all tall, badass looking aliens, and then there's Bibi all bubbly and smol; thats peak friend group trope for me. Gives me strong "we will protect her at all costs" vibes
I really love how much Bibi stands out from the rest of the DEDE crew! I like to image that they all assume she's still just a rookie communications officer, since she doesn't dress "professionally", but then at one of the board meetings, Bibi just nonchalantly brings up that her birthday is coming up soon and everyone realizes that she's literally eons older than the rest of them. I also like to image that during a routine check up at Tzula's office, the 3 magnets in Bibi's head short-circuit all the medical equipment and Bibi is just like: "Well how else did you think I was so good at my job? My species literally evolved to have intergalactic communication spheres in our brains! I'm currently telepathing my pen pal Nova! She says Hello!!". Meanwhile the Tzula is like 0_0
I feel like this episode is more professional than usual!, the “mistakes” don’t take away for, the fact that this is a lot more professional, perfection isn’t what makes something professional.
"The white colour is to help reflect heat from the suit. The Advanced Crew Escape Suit (ACES), contains breathing apparatus but is only pressurised during emergencies. The suit is worn during transit between vehicles, take-offs and landings and is orange to improve its visibility."
its been really cool to watch you start with "im giving this doll a new face/hair/outfit" to "and im gonna paint it" and recently "im gonna cut up its entire body and make something entirely different". you're really very talented and i cant said to see how much further you venture out ♥
Ooh she's so cute! I was so sad when she was dropped, I'm glad you were able to repair her! Also I wanted to let you know about 'Squishy Resin' - Sophie and Toffee sell their own version but there are lots of places you can get it. You get a soft, squishy texture that you can use with silicone moulds. You did a great job with your first time using silicone in silicone but I thought you might like to hear about alternatives!
she is adorable!!!! as a Star Trek fan i’s say you gave her WAY more “prosthetics” than most of their aliens! i mean, plenty are just humans with contacts 😝 this is by fav my favorite doll you’ve made!!!
Haha true! If she were a true Star Trek alien, she probably would have had some kind of gossamer clothing. lol! Makes me want to rewatch the old episodes.
I never thought of it before but honestly its so brilliant!! Keeps the doll lightweight, adds material/ texture varience, and best of all, makes her squishy and huggable!! I love that, especially alongside the bouncy antennae! It really makes her feel like an organic lifeform in a robotic spacesuit!
I love the way you did her body! The soft body plus the outside shell looks really cool. I'm excited to see how/if you incorporate more silicone body parts in the future, it's so fun! Also her hair is adorable
Giving her 'uniform' the hands-on approach instead of 3d printing makes the most sense since she's hand made. If you were selling them en masse, 3d printing would be a choice but when you do that you take away the hand made charm. She's cute!
the shot of the crew all together makes me think of a quote from the mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi said that he found it most visually interesting when very realistic characters interact with more cartoony characters in the same world/panels - i think it makes it seem like such a fun and vibrant little universe! i am OBSESSED with this doll, you did an amazing job!
I really admire your dedication to being as thrifty and environmental as possible despite having a crafting hobby that could otherwise waste a lot of materials. That and your colour design is fantastic
I seriously love everything about her! The fact that you show when things go wrong is one of the many reasons I love your channel, since you're honest about the creation process. I also really appreciate that you do so much by hand, instead of 3D printing everything; the little imperfections that come from being handmade are beautiful.
She's just the cutest little alien I've ever seen! I got a quick idea for the crack on the back of her helmet, why not put a mini band-aid on it? Like BiBi cracked the helmet and she tried to fix it with a Band-Aid? I think it would be cute!
even without 3D printed parts, she still looks really cool. i love how Catherine is independent and does her projects mostly herself, but she’s still not afraid to ask for help when she needs it. super important artist trait there!
I like to think that the paint on the her antennas and ears is a good thing! It shows even aliens don’t have perfect skin, they flaws in their our skin just like us so I say embrace the fact that she has a bit of odd looking painted antennas and ears it’ll make her feel more relatable 😌👽💚
Bibi is so cute! My gosh, I love how saturated and bright she is, Aurora's got a cute green buddy now! If you ever decide to try casting silicone again, consider checking out Rybonator's video on Squishy Dice. Normally he does a lot of content on resin dice, DnD setpieces, and tabletop miniatures, but I've had great luck incorporating his techniques into my doll process, and that video in particular does a great job of showing silicone casting.
Oh my gosh! I clicked right away when I got the notification. I usually wait until I finish watching the video to comment, but I can make an exception for this video 😉. I love your channel so much! You are so creative and are an AMAZING doll customizer. Whenever you post a video, my day gets 100x better. 😊
She is soooo adorable, I literally gasped at the clip when she fell off the table 😧 Poor Bibi, but at least she's fixed with a stronger space suit now 👩🚀👽 Great job as always Katherine 💜
They’re all so cute 😊 I love how everyone else looks so serious and bubbles is just bright and colorful. I feel like she’d be more light hearted and make the ship so much more fun
I love how BiBi just sticks out so much in the lineup. This small alien with her bright neon colours and cute look in the midst of tall, serious and more dark and epic dolls; it's a delight xD
oml she's so adorable! She lowkey looks like that one member of a friend group who everyone just decides "she's baby, must protect" and i'm loving it (also not my bi brain immediately saying "bi vibes" when I saw Bibi's name and hair. i'm sorry I don't know either- lmao)
Oh my god, that heart-wrenching moment where she fell to the floor. I would have spewed every expletive under the sun and even a few from the dark side of the moon. But you pushed through and fixed her up. Well done!
Honestly hearing about all the mistakes is really comforting because when I make a mistake on a craft I want to throw it out but you keep going and it ends up looking fantastic. It really is an encouragement to keep going.
That fall was so sad!! That must have been devastating. Thank you so much for fixing her up, if the video had just ended with "and then I scrapped the broken pieces because it was too tedious to remake them" then our hearts would have been as broken as the poor doll bits. I was so happy to see her fixed up a moment later! It must have been so hard to have been living that in real time.
Shes adorable, I hope to see more dolls like these and I like to know you're stubborn enough to do things by hand. Not everyone can afford a 3D printer (heck I could barely afford to get MSC and apoxie clay) and seeing videos like these where you use the simplest of materials (most of times) encourage me to keep crafting.
I absolutely felt your pain when Bibi's helmet broke, but I'm so glad you were able to pull together and make a new one. Maybe her broken helmet can symbolize when she joined Starship DEDE the group found her floating in space and her helmet cracked so they brought her aboard and cared for her.
I think stuffing the jump suit was an amazing idea! You always talk about the 'pillow effect ' when you add thickness to a doll so i think that was an amazing way to avoid it, while ironically turning her into a pillow 🤣
It really crushed me when I saw her helmet dropped and broken with all the custom work that went into it. You can tell it really hurt Dollightful after putting in so much work. I'm so inspired by her drive to keep going even after such a devistating mistake. It's one of the reasons, I love her as a crafter and an UA-camr. She's passionate, transparent, sweet, caring, and determined even in the face of "failure". Sorry for the long comment. I just thought this video was absolutly beautiful as a journey. Please don't give up on yourself everyone!
I love how much you’ve grown. I remember watching you when I was younger, and I was so amazed! And to this day I’m still very amazed by your artwork and your effort into your videos!!
Holy smokes! This doll is TOP NOTCH! My heart broke when you showed her on the floor, but your skill and repairs made the new helmet look seamless! ^v^
Omg when she fell! I just had my hand over my mouth saying omg over and over. My heart!! It was super adorable when you were whispering with your husband. I like how the collaborations are increasing. She turned out so well! "Simple" looking projects always take so long and you're so right about just working on one part at a time. Such a cutey
Oh my goodness, so much work! I especially love the antennae extensions of her helmet. And I uttered dismay aloud at that heartbreaking turn of events, there at the very end. I prolly would've cried. Suggestion: the "ick" around her antennae/ears could be her species' version of a hormonal outbreak =P
I love how even though this is just a doll customization, I can still find the morbid humor of literally sawing off the dolls limbs off. I kid you not I started watching one of these videos in high school before and I could not stop laughing at my friends faces when they saw what was happening. The face they made when they saw the head in a jar of acetone is just one of my favorites. 😂
She looks awesome! I love her hips, her cute little buns and the retro concept. She looks like a very talkative officer indeed. I'm continuously impressed with the amount of work you do with your dolls. So many different skills come into play, they're truly works of art! I've seen you have some drilling issues. I'm not a doll artist but with my art/construction projects I've had great experiences drilling different types of plastic using a wood drill bit. Your drill looks like it has a metal bit (cone shaped), while a wood bit is more like a rotating carving tool. Maybe it's worth a try and will make your work a little easier! You're a huge inspiration and I love your beautiful dolls! Shout out to the hubby and his magic airbrush! ✨

(This is supposed to be a compliment-)
Little did we know about Babylightful at the time
Eh that's just how artists talk about their stuff, never met I single one who didn't complain about parts of their art they aren't satisfied with
Learning about Babylightful has recontextualized every single video in the last nine months. I heard "I had to take care of some rather urgent non-doll-related business" and I was like "OMG BABE TAKE YOUR TIME THIS IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT WE LOVE YOU" when there's literally no evidence it was related
Also explains why her husband handled the air brushing in this vid rather than herself.
@@unearthlyfromage2297
he does have IT hands and for some reason it worked for him (i remember from a previous video that she said this)
@@linkinlog8543 their child shall be the perfect maker of small things
Shes amazing! I love the new direction of body mods, being unafraid to push the limits of a monster high doll base.
That's why I love her because she's never afraid to push the limits
Same , it's really amazing
@Not RickRoII👇😍 it's a Rickroll
BiBi, speaking into a communicator with a mean gurl voice: "yeah, the gang is all down i need some back up, could y'all do that? thankyuuu~"
-BiBi dashes forward with an aggresive face
-several portals open, a mishmash of visually constrasting and weird ships come out of them
_and that's when they knew, they messed up_
i also imagine she's the toughest, spending that much time out of the spaceship must screw with your body
Look up Trance of Andromeda. she's just like that.
@@coffee-ouji honestly, the fact that she is sturdier looking compared to the other crewmates proves your point, she might be small but very strong, to compensate for her height
"why do i hear boss music"
i feel like bibi is the small fluffy girl that seems to always hang out with the popular girls in school, and is nice to quite literally everyone-
The power of fluffy girls shines within you

That's actually great world building with the head magnets. She could be communications officer because her species can naturally pick up radio waves when they concentrate (hence the magnetic skulls). Regardless of tech at her disposal, she would be able to receive messages and relay them to her team regardless. she was built for the job (literally)
and she has antennae like a lil radio!
Wow, this is astronomically genius!
That's such a cool idea!
veey good lore!
my heart absolutely broke when you showed the broken helmet, it’s the absolute worst when that happens to a project
I literally gasped out loud 😭
I love how she says “Take her to the med bay!” And then just drags her away on the floor lol 😆
Since she's communications maybe the magnets in her head allow her to receive messages? Like maybe her whole species can transmit and recieve messages from eachother because of their magnetic skulls! And that's what makes her worthy of being a communications officer
I love that!!

You really do touch lives.
she really needs to see this

Hi

Wow hi! I never tought u will be here
The perseverance you had throughout this project and getting the adorable result still just shows how amazing you are! I hope you next project, whenever that happens, is much more cooperative to you.
Haha thank you very much!
@@Dollightful You're very welcome ^^
I love getting more glimpses of your hubby and his personality. You guys seem like such a cute couple! I especially loved the twin *nervous noises*
I loved seeing all the dolls together in the end ! They're all tall, badass looking aliens, and then there's Bibi all bubbly and smol; thats peak friend group trope for me. Gives me strong "we will protect her at all costs" vibes
I literally said, "Oh, no!" out loud when she broke. She came out so cute. Great job.
Meanwhile the Tzula is like 0_0
I love how calm yet chaotic Dollightful always is in each of her videos. She never ceases to make me giggle while watching. :)
@nijuo joing is this meant to be a reply
GUSSSSS
its been really cool to watch you start with "im giving this doll a new face/hair/outfit" to "and im gonna paint it" and recently "im gonna cut up its entire body and make something entirely different". you're really very talented and i cant said to see how much further you venture out ♥
between some of her most recent dolls she’s so close to having made a whole doll from scratch!
Factssss
Omg she’s so campy but so technically detailed and precise I love this combination!!! And yes, you NAILED the old school Star Trek aesthetic!!!
I feel so appreciated by this character, in modern media there are hardly plus sized characters, and this doll is amazing, thank you so much Katherine
Bro I love how chubby she is. She looks so squishy and cute why doesnt media have more chunky characters they already look so fun??
The idea to stuff her body suit is absolutely genius. I'd love to see this technique used more 😍
I never thought of it before but honestly its so brilliant!! Keeps the doll lightweight, adds material/ texture varience, and best of all, makes her squishy and huggable!! I love that, especially alongside the bouncy antennae! It really makes her feel like an organic lifeform in a robotic spacesuit!
I love how the crew has three elegant majestic creatures, and then there's adorable little BiBi
She’s so cute I love it!!
@@demidandridge6288 Aw hi!!
Genuinely didn't expect to see you here. I love this!!
I love the way you did her body! The soft body plus the outside shell looks really cool. I'm excited to see how/if you incorporate more silicone body parts in the future, it's so fun! Also her hair is adorable
Thank you!
I know she is so adorable
I love how in the final lineup Bibi is so short and cute! She's definitely the heart (and little sister) of the team
Haha that's true! I'm sure aliens have skin issues too xD Gotta moisturize
I have to admire how delicate Hubbylightful’s airbrushing is
I, for one, love our new bi-haired, trans-suited daughter. She's sooo cute!! Well worth the hardship, I say! ❤️
I love space stuff and when you do serious body mods! You’re so talented!
Can we talk about how katheryn lined up the hair (on the table) in the Bi-flag, and then look at her name- Bibi

Honestly hearing about all the mistakes is really comforting because when I make a mistake on a craft I want to throw it out but you keep going and it ends up looking fantastic. It really is an encouragement to keep going.
This is probably my favorite designation and execution I've ever seen on this channel!! Despite all the setbacks, Bravo!!!!!!
Headcannon: the others joke about how short bibi is.
Somebody pointed out that her colors consisted of the bisexual flag. And her name is also bibi. So I think a head canon could also be shes bi :)

Shes adorable, I hope to see more dolls like these and I like to know you're stubborn enough to do things by hand.
Not everyone can afford a 3D printer (heck I could barely afford to get MSC and apoxie clay) and seeing videos like these where you use the simplest of materials (most of times) encourage me to keep crafting.
honestly dollightful does more for my body issues than therapy ever could💗
She jsut makes all body types and they're all amazing
How did the doll even fall?
She is literally so adorable you did such a good job on the color scheme and the helmet and suit looks so freaking cool
Sometimes doll art is a little more... morbid than you expect coming in 😄🔪
She looks awesome!
Its been years since ive watched a doll repaint. This was in my reccomended cause of the space theme and oh my, I am absolutely blown away by the planning and loving work put into this doll. Ive never seen anything like it and just seeing concept art come to life was stunning. 💙
