I just thought of a rough backstory for her and Ty Tanium. Ty used to work at a place where they used steam powered energy to create machinery, but during an accident his forearm was ripped off. He created himself a new arm out of scrap metal he found on the streets, as metal was at high expense. The place then began creating a life-size porcelain ball-jointed doll, then Ty had the idea to try and work circuits inside that doll to make her alive. Once the owner of that place found out what Ty was doing, they sent him away. However, Ty’s contraption actually worked and the doll came to life. The doll found scrap pieces of fabric in that place and made herself a hanboc (if that’s how you spell it). She explored around the place, learning about steam energy and different types of metal, soon naming herself “Irene Oxide”. Irene decided that life as an accessory wasn’t worth living, so she stole rare electronics and made herself a mask of her favourite animal, a bunny, and ran away. She soon bumped into Ty, who recognised her as the doll he brought to life. Ty took Irene in and cared for her, not letting her get hurt, as she was made of delicate porcelain. Oh God, Irene and Ty's scene made my imagination run wild. Look "What a strange thing" Ty said. Both have never seen such weird shaped mech before. Even Irene couldn't tell what it was. "Can I ask where you found that?" "It was lying around the bridge" "Are you sure this isn't a sculpture?" She realized seconds after finishing it how the question seemed stupid. Who would put such mechanisms on a sculpture? Ty checked the mech from head to toe. It looked like a sculpture indeed, but something told him it wasn't. "Think you can fix it?" Ty asked "I don't know" Irene shyly answered. Ty felt like she was ashamed of saying she couldn't fix it. Ty softly smiled, "seems like we'll have to find out how it works" he says, putting his hand on Irene's shoulder. Suddenly, Irene jumps away. On an attempt of recomposing herself, she says: "I-I'll do my best, b-but I can't promise anything" "I trust you, I'm sure you'll fix it in no time" Ty leaves the shop, slightly giggling. "I've never seen someone blush so violently" Back on the shop, Irene gives another check on the mech in vain. She can't concentrate anymore, her mind keeps wondering about Ty. "Stupid Ty, why so shameless" she complains. But maybe it's not anger she was feeling that moment, maybe it was something even she couldn't explain, something she didn't know well. Could it be love?

A trick to get super tiny screws: dismantling old and broken electronic devices such as an alarm clock or these tiny Halloween flashlights. That stop motion at the end was amazing.

I say it depends on the doll. Sure those mods would be painful, but sometimes they basically translate to amputee surgeries irl and that’s usually a good thing.

I remember a long time ago I was just making doll clothes for my little cousins dolls cuz she LOVES them and thinks I'm talented at making custom dolls and custom doll clothes(my own way! But I'm not even that good!) And one day we my family and my cousins went to a sort of, fun festival thing(I live in Japan btw) and we all got dressed traditionally for it cuz we sort of had to and wanted to! But let me tell you KIMONOS ARE SO HARD TO TIE!!!!! my mom does it like it's a profession and I look like an idiot when I tie it like a shoelace so she does it for me. While we were there my cousin asked if she could make a doll kimono for her dolls! I thought it would be easier to make one than to put one on so I said sure. BIG MISTAKE! IT WAS SO HARD! it took me like 1 month of trial and error until I got it JUST RIGHT! My cousin was happy, I felt dead, and I still make her doll clothes to this day! Random but I just wanted to say it!

Idk if this would work for you but I usually like to research about the type of clothes I want to make, then I make my own sketch of it and all of the instructions to make it. Once I do that, I print them out, and basically make them how Dollightful does them. With templates and a sewing machine. Make sense?
When I was 12 I had a Wonder Woman doll ( going to restore her). I had only 3 barbies, and my parents thought clothes were a wasted expense. So I learned to sew. Wonder Woman got accessories made of tin cans!!! I thought the plastic pieces were not fitting. You’ve inspired me to Heathen back to her metal accessories. I know how I’m going to restore her now. alright here's what I'm thinking about these dolls: Irene and Ty have worked together on a couple different things. They inspire one another. Irene seems ditzy and airheaded at a glance but she's actually a genius inventor and incredibly intelligent. Ty was a bit put out at first, as Irene wasn't taking things seriously and he preferred solitude anyway, but Irene's problem solving skills were undeniable. She quickly won him over with her brightness, and Irene made it a personal mission to force Ty to lighten up. So, I'm rewatching this video and I got to the part where you express having difficulties with the collar. Wasn't sure if anybody else said this, but I thought I would throw my two cents in! My first impulse is to recommend using bias tape. Because it's cut on the bias, it has a little bit of stretch and give to it. Store-bought bias tape even has a good deal of starch, so if you wanted to take the section that will lay against the back of her neck, you can gently stretch it into a more curved shape that will snug up against her neck, similar to what your darts are accomplishing. The other option would be using a slightly stretchy material, scraps of a t-shirt or something like that. Ultimately what you're trying to accomplish is to stretch out whatever fabric you're using as you're sewing it into the neck of your bodice. When you're done, the folded edge will relax into it's ever so slightly smaller shape, thus snuggling against the neck.

I bet your parents are quite proud of you now, although I feel as a child you probably exhausted their patience by tearing up dolls, collecting trash bits, and broken things and then making new toys. I was told every time I took scissors or markers to my dolls that I'd be lowering their value, and I'm like "How? There's a store full of dolls exactly like this one, but now that I've done my thing, it's truly mine and unique and I love it more this way." And look at us now, crafters have emerged from the underbelly of society to become a worldwide culture!

I was one to try to modify doll clothes and put make-up on my dolls sometimes, which made my mom a bit upset ^^" I've been drawing since the time I learned how to hand a pencil, and I learned a bit of sewing when I was in High School. Last April, I completed my first custom (other ones are still processing haha) as a project for college, and when coming back home for the summer I brought my doll along to show them. Everyone that saw her were amazed -- both by the before/after, and by the hard stuff the dolls have to go through to get there! xD I really enjoy the "bringing my drawings and ideas to life" feeling! :D

ty continued to scavenge the junkyard, looking for parts and pieces and whatnot. he needed some engine parts for a new project he was working on, but all he could find were gears and other useless scrap. but suddenly, he heard... a noise. at first, ty didn't know what it was. but after a second, it sounded like... crying? ty furrowed his brow in confusion as he made his way towards the noise. he was unarmed, but he grabbed a large rusted pipe to defend himself. the crying was coming from behind a massive pile of scrap, and as he rounded the corner of the mountain, he saw a girl.
No, but it would be a funny sight to be walking peacefully on the sidewalk below the apartment building, and all of a sudden a doll head/body falls to the ground, shattering it's plastic before your very eyes. 😅😅😂🤣

"What a strange thing" Ty said. Both have never seen such weird shaped mech before. Even Irene couldn't tell what it was.
"Can I ask where you found that?"
"It was lying around the bridge"
"Are you sure this isn't a sculpture?"
She realized seconds after finishing it how the question seemed stupid. Who would put such mechanisms on a sculpture? Ty checked the mech from head to toe. It looked like a sculpture indeed, but something told him it wasn't.
"Think you can fix it?" Ty asked
"I don't know" Irene shyly answered. Ty felt like she was ashamed of saying she couldn't fix it.
Ty softly smiled, "seems like we'll have to find out how it works" he says, putting his hand on Irene's shoulder.
Suddenly, Irene jumps away. On an attempt of recomposing herself, she says:
"I-I'll do my best, b-but I can't promise anything"
"I trust you, I'm sure you'll fix it in no time"
Ty leaves the shop, slightly giggling.
"I've never seen someone blush so violently"
Back on the shop, Irene gives another check on the mech in vain. She can't concentrate anymore, her mind keeps wondering about Ty.
"Stupid Ty, why so shameless" she complains. But maybe it's not anger she was feeling that moment, maybe it was something even she couldn't explain, something she didn't know well. Could it be love?

I say it depends on the doll. Sure those mods would be painful, but sometimes they basically translate to amputee surgeries irl and that’s usually a good thing.

I remember a long time ago I was just making doll clothes for my little cousins dolls cuz she LOVES them and thinks I'm talented at making custom dolls and custom doll clothes(my own way! But I'm not even that good!) And one day we my family and my cousins went to a sort of, fun festival thing(I live in Japan btw) and we all got dressed traditionally for it cuz we sort of had to and wanted to! But let me tell you KIMONOS ARE SO HARD TO TIE!!!!! my mom does it like it's a profession and I look like an idiot when I tie it like a shoelace so she does it for me. While we were there my cousin asked if she could make a doll kimono for her dolls! I thought it would be easier to make one than to put one on so I said sure. BIG MISTAKE!
IT WAS SO HARD! it took me like 1 month of trial and error until I got it JUST RIGHT! My cousin was happy, I felt dead, and I still make her doll clothes to this day!

When I was 12 I had a Wonder Woman doll ( going to restore her). I had only 3 barbies, and my parents thought clothes were a wasted expense. So I learned to sew.

alright here's what I'm thinking about these dolls:
Irene and Ty have worked together on a couple different things. They inspire one another. Irene seems ditzy and airheaded at a glance but she's actually a genius inventor and incredibly intelligent. Ty was a bit put out at first, as Irene wasn't taking things seriously and he preferred solitude anyway, but Irene's problem solving skills were undeniable. She quickly won him over with her brightness, and Irene made it a personal mission to force Ty to lighten up. I imagine she likes to use her bunny mask to jumpscare him, and also possibly helped him improvise on his arm a bit.

So, I'm rewatching this video and I got to the part where you express having difficulties with the collar. Wasn't sure if anybody else said this, but I thought I would throw my two cents in!
My first impulse is to recommend using bias tape. Because it's cut on the bias, it has a little bit of stretch and give to it. Store-bought bias tape even has a good deal of starch, so if you wanted to take the section that will lay against the back of her neck, you can gently stretch it into a more curved shape that will snug up against her neck, similar to what your darts are accomplishing.
The other option would be using a slightly stretchy material, scraps of a t-shirt or something like that. Ultimately what you're trying to accomplish is to stretch out whatever fabric you're using as you're sewing it into the neck of your bodice. When you're done, the folded edge will relax into it's ever so slightly smaller shape, thus snuggling against the neck.

I bet your parents are quite proud of you now, although I feel as a child you probably exhausted their patience by tearing up dolls, collecting trash bits, and broken things and then making new toys. I was told every time I took scissors or markers to my dolls that I'd be lowering their value, and I'm like "How? There's a store full of dolls exactly like this one, but now that I've done my thing, it's truly mine and unique and I love it more this way." And look at us now, crafters have emerged from the underbelly of society to become a worldwide culture!

I was one to try to modify doll clothes and put make-up on my dolls sometimes, which made my mom a bit upset ^^" I've been drawing since the time I learned how to hand a pencil, and I learned a bit of sewing when I was in High School. Last April, I completed my first custom (other ones are still processing haha) as a project for college, and when coming back home for the summer I brought my doll along to show them. Everyone that saw her were amazed -- both by the before/after, and by the hard stuff the dolls have to go through to get there! xD I really enjoy the "bringing my drawings and ideas to life" feeling! :D

ty furrowed his brow in confusion as he made his way towards the noise. he was unarmed, but he grabbed a large rusted pipe to defend himself. the crying was coming from behind a massive pile of scrap, and as he rounded the corner of the mountain, he saw a girl.

Crafting tip, from one crafter to another! If you wrap scotch tape around your the nose tips of your plyers you'll avoid scratches, dings and "teeth" marks from the plyers. ;) Love your projects and your videos are always great!
