Yahooooo! This week was AWESOME. Lots of fun OBGYN shenanigans including a 24hr shift. I got my first on-call room, which was such a fun experience! I didn't have to sleep in a chair over night (quite delightful). Also, answered some of your guys' burning questions! :D

Seeing how passionate you are for the medical field gives me a lot of hope for our future doctors. I’m not a medical professional myself, by I read/hear about medical professionals leaving the field in waves because of the pandemic. I’m glad to see that there are people like you and your medical community who are still passionate about the medical field. Thank you!

Watching how thankful you are to be in medicine is my weekly reminder of why I went into medicine too. I'm a PA and just started in emergency medicine and I'm finally where I wanted to be after the last 2.5yrs of being less than happy with my hospitalist job. Some days are incredibly rough in ED, but there are moments when I see how I've positively effected someone's life that I remember why I love it. I aspire to bring your level of gratitude into my daily life. Thank you for spreading the joy!

I'm heading to med school this fall!! I read a lot on reddit from r/residency and r/medicalschool as well as twitter-there's a bunch of awesome and invaluable information there that really gives a good preface to what's to come. But I often find myself feeling scared about med school because all I hear is how brutal and difficult it is. I completely understand that those people are venting and it's extremely valuable to hear that perspective but I will say it is refreshing watching your videos. You give a well-rounded perspective and ease my fears. Obviously, you never shy away from showing the hard parts but you also always show the rewarding and awesome parts. Makes me super excited to go down this path and eases my fears of the "doom and gloom" of medical training. Thank you, Rachel!!!!

I definitely know that OBGYN is not for me but I could listen to you talk about it for hours. You’re so genuine when you talk about it and I swear there’s a twinkle in your eye every time you do. I hope whatever I choose in the future will make me feel the same way obgyn does for you. I can’t wait to see you become an official obgyn doctor in the future

First, keep it up Judith, you can do it! 💙 Second, great vlog! I would be surprised if your face doesn’t ache from all that smiling! I am so happy for you. I recall my own daughter’s birth and a medical student being present. She was so nice and just as excited as you. Her happiness was infectious. She told me that day that her next item on the bucket list was delivering twins. 🤣 It’s years later and it’s crazy to think that young medical student is now a doctor and has no doubt delivered hundreds of babies. What a rewarding occupation!

Rachel, I've been watching you since your 1st day of your 1st year of medical school, congratulations on having come so far and good luck on Step/COMLEX 2! Some of your most helpful videos for me have been the ones where you explained your workflow for a particular year and commented about the resources you found the most helpful during that year. I would LOVE it if you would do one for your workflow during rotations 3rd year (how many videos you watched, anki cards, questions for COMATS Level 2 prep, etc.) and the resources you found the most useful for each rotation. I'll be starting my clinical rotations in 3 months and I can't wait!

You should be proud if others are complementing your skin closing. This is a skill all doctors should perform well but sadly don't. They're probably shocked seeing a 3rd year doing it. Maybe I'm wrong, but these places seem to be doing a lot of C-sections. Do Californians not deliver babies naturally?
The body needs a certain amount of movement at least 5 days per week. The phrase "use it or lose it" is very true. At one time, this was built into normal daily activities. We went from ~10 miles/day of movement in an agrarian society down to 5-7 miles/day in the industrial society down to less than 1 mile/day now due to electronic devices and automation.
Some people make up their deficit by working out in gyms, but it can be done in other ways and in multiple short time increments. A step counter app can estimate how much moving around you do normally to determine how much (if any) you're short. Without an adequate amount, gradually you will transform into today's average American -- obese, out-of-shape, sickly, and/or weak with bone loss and muscle atrophy.
