On the passwords thing... The user is likely to reinstall their michaelsoft binbows as is and use the same password (if any). Same stands for world-facing workstations with a proper IT dept. "It's just been reinstalled, it's definitely clean!". If anything, the system failure is a false sense of security.

Especially given such an abrupt death of the system, the user/admin might not suspect any virus at all. A perfect deception... or really just lack of foresight
In a corporate setting it might even be worse than that. It could be a Win9x machine that connects on to a WNT Domain. The password harvested could then be domain-wide credentials.
At least that how we used to do it in highschool. Compromise a 95 machine in the IT lab, use those credentials to get the SAM files from a WNT machine used by the faculty, run L0phtCrack at home in peace and quiet, then use the credentials gained to steal the word files our teachers used to make tests.

@@ashleybyrd2015 Here's an even better life hack. Attach those magnets to your computer so the floppy disks are right there when you need them. Forget the refrigerator, it's just a middleman.

Great idea to store floppy disks using fridge magnets! I should this soon, I have a lot of empty fridge space and those 8ft tall stacks of disks are just collecting dust.

There's something oddly entertaining and relaxing about watching videos about viruses on old computers. I think it is a wholesome form of entertainment that should be viewed by all the irritable business people in the world. I am still waiting for the day when danoct1 teams up with Lewis' Tech and they use malware to bust scammers.
