I watched your aha and BHA solution with niacinamide it gives clarity and how to use it on the skin and now confused about retinoid with niacinamide and this video of yours helped me a lot. Thank you
Great video, Melissa. I use these two products together all the time and thankfully, I've had no reactions. I was wondering though if Buffet (the regular) can be also used with these two? Thank you for all your wonderful videos.
Hello Heather. Yes, usually, there is no issue. But some people in my comments mentioned it that they had difficulties using them together, so I wanted to make people aware of it. 🙂 Yes, you can use Buffet with Niacinamide and Retinol. 🙂
Hey Melissa, thank you for your clear explanation. Quick question, is my order correct? - facial wash - niacinamide - neutrogena hydro boost gel cream - retinol - retinol Cream for the eyes - moisturiser for the face and eyes Should I use it in this order or should I switch or eliminate anything? Thank you
Hey Melissa, I really love your videos! You're such a skin savior haha! I would like a little help over here if it's okay. This is how my AM/PM routines look like: AM: Paula's Choice Pore Normalising Cleanser Paula's Choice 10% Niacinamide (Every day as I am used to it now) Paula's choice Omega + Complex Moisturiser La roche posay Anthelios Sunscreen PM: Paula's Choice Pore Normalising Cleanser Paula's Choice 2% BHA (Mon-Wed-Fri), Paula's Choice 1% retinol with Vit C Serum (Tue-Thurs-Sat), (On Sundays I let my skin chill with only a moisturizer) Paula's choice Omega + Complex Moisturiser Do you reckon this routine is alright or does it need to be changed? Thank you :)
Hi Melissa, I have open pores and dullness on my skin. I’ve recently started using Niacinamide and Retinol as mentioned in your video. Will this help me for my open pores or do you have any better routine I could try?
It can help to get them back to normal. No, there isn't much else you can use. Retinol and Niacinamide is the best option. The only "upgrade" you can do is using medical strength Retinoids, which you can only get on prescription.
Yes, you can use niacinamide and retinol together. In fact, using them in combination can be beneficial for the skin. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that has been shown to improve the skin's barrier function, reduce redness and inflammation, and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Retinol is a form of vitamin A that has been shown to increase skin cell turnover and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. When using niacinamide and retinol together, it's recommended to apply them at different times of the day, such as using retinol at night and niacinamide in the morning. It's also a good idea to start slowly, using each product every other night, and gradually increasing the frequency as your skin adjusts. This can help reduce the risk of irritation, which is a common side effect of retinol. It's always a good idea to talk to a dermatologist or skincare professional before starting a new skincare routine to determine the best products and regimen for your specific skin type and concerns.
Your text was generated by "Openai" which is just a language model. It does not look at the ingredients individually but only generates paragraphs of text. For medical/skincare advice, it can really be a bad thing, and if you do not understand what you are talking about, it does more harm than good. In this case, you need to consider the formulation for layering and the potency of the product, and therefore, only the last sentence is beneficial here "It's always a good idea to talk to a dermatologist or skincare professional before starting a new skincare routine to determine the best products and regimen for your specific skin type and concerns."
@@codelucky Overall I think it is helpful if you already know what you are talking about. But if not, it can give you misleading information. Still, I love the idea, but it could be easily manipulated by "them."
Hello Melissa, I have a question: I have to splash water on my face multiple times (i can make it last to 3 ) to perform ablution, do you recommend applying all products all over again (treatment, moisturizer, Sunscreen if day time). #SkinCareWhileMuslim
Hey :) No, there is no need to do this. If you are exposed to the sun for a longer period, you can reapply the sunscreen or moisturizer with SPF. But no need to reapply the treatments multiple times a day. 🙂
The thing is that I haven't tried many and I do not have any issues with this yet. So it's hard to tell what's working 😞 or if there is even any cream that can help! I tried Hylamide SubQEyes a while ago and here are the results: Hylamide SubQ Eyes Before and After | 8 Weeks with Pictures: ua-cam.com/video/B2HSwo9VjVw/v-deo.html
Love your videos! New subscriber here 😍🙋🏻♀️ one question: I was using a prescription of tetrinoin 0.0025 % but it gives me redness . Should I change to retinol and what percentage?❤️
Melissa I hope you can help. Ive always used paulas choice BHA exfoliant. I get on well with it. I recently purchased retinol 1% and niacinamide 10%. I use BHA twice a week, niacinamide 3 times a week ans retinol twice a week all on different days. I have only used retinol twice and have patches of red almost like sun burn on my face. My queation is Should i stop with the niacinamide as well as retinol? Stop the BHA? or try mixing them with a moisturiser to dilute them? Will that work? I have also started using the currwnt body led mask and ziip halo. Nothing is helping with the hormonal acne on my chin. Help x
Hey! :) A 1% retinol product can be quite intense depending on the formulation. For example, the 1% retinol from Paula's Choice is a very potent treatment, whereas the 1% retinol from The Ordinary is not as intense-meaning it may lead to irritation more gradually. Retinol also has a delayed response, so if you apply it today, the effects can still appear 3-4 days later. If this is your first time using a retinol product, or if it's your first time using the 1% strength, it may be wise to start with just once per week. Tolerance can vary based on your skin’s sensitivity and other products in your routine, like a BHA exfoliant. Even if you tolerate BHA well, it can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation when combined with retinol. In your case, it might be best to stop using both retinol and BHA temporarily to give your skin a break, then gradually reintroduce retinol before adding BHA back into your routine. Alternatively, you could mix the retinol with your moisturizer-though I still recommend allowing your skin some recovery time first. As for the LED mask, I haven't used one myself, so I'm unsure of its effects on the skin or what it can be safely paired with. For your ‘hormonal’ acne, have you considered looking into dietary factors? Sometimes, added sugars, processed foods, fast foods, or food intolerances (like soy, spices, dairy, wheat/gluten, eggs, chicken, etc.) can contribute to breakouts.
Thank you Melissa for these helpful videos 🌸 I’m using niacinamide and retinol for three days but I guess retinol made my dark spots even worse what should I do?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you for replying 💖I used retinol just one time. It is my first retinol experience. And my dark spots faded away like weeks ago but when I use retinol, they appeared again and they look like more orange right now. Its ordinary %0,5 retinol.
@@momscookingasmr3312 Okay I just wanted to know if it's not purging or another reaction. I assume that it is because they now come faster to the surface and therefore they are more visible :) Retinol increases cell turnover meaning your skin is regenerating more quickly (It takes only 25 days instead of 30 days +/- that's just an example) Therefore, everything happens a bit faster. So when using it ongoing, they will fade more quickly. No need to worry. Just make sure that you do not overdo it in the beginning with the product since it can lead to irritation (dryness, redness, burning) give it time!:)
hey melissa! thank you for this video, it was pretty helpful💗 i have a question though. i’m currently using 5% niacinamide serum and i’m thinking of using a 0.3% retinol face moisturiser (as i’m new to retinol). do i need to apply a layer of my usual moisturiser before/after applying the moisturiser which contains retinol? (i have oily and acne prone skin btw)
Hey! :) What Retinol moisturizer do you want to use? Overall, the formulation of your Retinol cream and your skin tolerance matter. In general, I don't think that you need to use a regular moisturizer while already using a moisturizer that contains Retinol.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet hi, thanks for the reply! I was thinking of Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Moisturizer which was suggested by my friend. Would that work? or should I try something else?
Hey I would like to ask you if it's possible to use one day salicyd acid with niamicide and the other day niamicide and retinol?Or can I mix salicyd acid with retinol?Love your videos btw:))
It's not recommended to use them in the same routine. During the first weeks, it may be best only to use retinol and, over time adding salicylic acid when not using retinol, such as retinol in the evening and salicylic acid in the morning.

Hello hiya, Thanks for this super lovely comment! 😃 For the "glass skin", you just need to add a lot of hydration and exfoliate the skin regularly; that makes it so shiny, but you can only achieve it temporarily. And you also need to have beautiful skin in the first place, which most of us do not have. 😕 Anyway, I am happy that I could help you, and I wish you and your mom all the best! 🥰
Hi Vane, 1) can I use Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% the ordinary before Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion the ordinary? 2) Could I use Buffet copper and then Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion in the same routine? Should I seal it with moisturizer or not? Thanks Thanks
Hey :) 1) Yes, that's fine! 2) No, it is no recommended using them in the same routine. 3) You can, if you feel the need, meaning if your skin feels dry or tight :)
Hey dear Melissa 😊 Can I use the rovectin activating lotion/toner which contains niacinamide 5% or less not more than 5% with my Pure vitamin C 15% serum ??? Will this work or will it oxidise and not work ???
Hey! :) Does your Vitamin C contain 15% of Ascorbic Acid? If so, this is a pretty controversial topic. Some say that they can be used together, whereas others recommend keeping them in separate routines to ensure the stability and efficacy of each product :)
Hmm... have you stored it away from sunlight and ideally in a fridge? If so, it may still have some effect. However, Retinal/Retinol/Retinoid, like Vitamin C, doesn't do well with heat and light.
Hey! :) Thank you, yes - that's fine. However, since you already have oily skin, I recommend using your Retinol on its own. This has worked well for me since the skin can properly shed. Whenever I use a moisturizer along with my Retinol, I feel like it's making my skin worse.
Please guide me how can i use azelic acid, the ordinary niacinamide and the ordinary hylanouric acid as a beginnner. What should I use in am/pm and what amount? What should apply first?
Hi Melissa, What if my work is on graveyard shift? When will I use Retinol % in squalane? because I've read an article saying that skincare products works best when you're asleep? Is this true? "During sleep, your skin's blood flow increases, and the organ rebuilds its collagen and repairs damage from UV exposure, reducing wrinkles and age spots." So when is the best time to use retinol and how often..? you said niacinamide can use everyday day and night.... Thanks!
Well, when we sleep, the body regenerates, so we get new energy, it repairs cells etc. But not sure if that counts for skincare products. So let's assume that you are in your bedroom; the skin is usually not exposed to any environmental damage, and therefore it does need as much protection as when being outside. However, when thinking about it could make sense because you support it with certain products such as retinol. It can regenerate even faster, and therefore, it may have better protection during the day. Not sure; I haven't read anything about that yet. And the main reason why you should use retinol in the evening is that it is sensitive to light because it renews the skin; the cells underneath are more sensitive to the sun, which need additional protection during the day. And you can watch the other video for the frequency and how you can do it. Edit: was it the following article? www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/beauty-sleep#How-sleep-affects-your-skin if so do not think about it too much ;) Since most are just optimized for SEO. "SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In simple terms, it means the process of improving your site to increase its visibility for relevant searches. "
Hello Mélissa I would like to add Niacinamide in my Routine. I only use Retinol 0.5% in the evening and Loreal Vita C in the Morning and Sun cream . How should I add Niacinamide? @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you Melissa 🌹 So I should not use it a.m before the Vita C? The Niacinamide will not weaken the effect of the Retinol? Thank you 🌸
@@arianecrettaz Based on the serum formulations you have, I do not recommend using niacinamide and vitamin C in the same routine. No, niacinamide does not weaken retinol. This can happen when you use your niacinamide and vitamin C serum together.
Hi im currently using TO products like NIACINAMIDE, RETINOL 0.2%, LACTIC ACID 10%, AMINO ACID, RESVERATROL, VITAMIN C, BUFFET. can you please suggest which one is recommended to use by pregnant women
Retinol can not be used if you are pregnant. Apart from that, I am not 100% sure. So for this, it is best to ask The Ordinary customer service: deciem.com/contact
Hi Melissa, I’ve been using the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair for about 4 months which has retinol but lately noticed that my skin doesn’t feel as moisturized. I started using niacinamide before the retinol but I also have a moisturizer with peptides. Is it ok to use that second moisturizer with peptides? Or is it too much for my PM routine? Edit: forgot to add that I have dry skin. Thanks 😊
Currently, the weather is changing, and the skin needs a couple of weeks to adjust; after that, it usually gets better. Still, you can use these products in the same routine. But I feel it is too much, and I suggest using a hydrating toner instead of the two moisturizer-textured products you have. Clean Face Hydrating Toner or Essence (Example I am From Rice, Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence, Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner) Niacinamide (if you use it) Retinol or Peptide Moisturizer

Hey :) I'm not sure what effect it would have since I've never tried it. I guess that you have to try it and see how it goes. I would do it when using products like Niacinamide since it is less likely to cause skin irritation and not doing it right away when using Retinol or AHA or BHA since they are more likely to irritate the skin already when using them alone :)
Hi. I recently just bought The Ordinary’s HA+B5, Niacinamide +zinc 1% , Retionl 0.5% in squalene and buffet + copper peptides. Im not sure how to layer these products....
Hello, well I have a video about this where I show how you can figure it out. See here: The Ordinary For Beginners: ua-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/v-deo.html
I use these same products, and use them as such : morning - HA, buffet+copper, Niacinamide, moisturiser sunscreen. Night: HA, niacinamide, retinol, moisturiser Alternate night: lactic acid, HA, moisturiser Disclaimer being that I gradually started with the retinol - only using it on its own 2 times a week then building it up. Then when I was sure my skin was agreeable to the retinol, I added in additional products.
Depending on your needs, none, but it really depends if your skin becomes dry and what you like using. But a light gel or lotion will likely be enough unless you have very dry skin. So Neutrogena Hydro Boost or G&G Hydration station.
Hi Melisa, i've started using 1% retinol without realizing that i should start at lower percentage. Should i go to 0.2% retinol or should i continue using 1%
Well, how does the 1% perform on your skin? If it works, just continue, but if you experienced irritation, it might be best to use a lower % first, yes. Otherwise, give your skin a few weeks to adjust to it.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet i think it works just fine on my skin tho sometimes i have pimples. I have another question, can i use the 1% retinol every night with niacinamide or should i use it 2 times a week only? Thank you for your time.

That isn't very easy. If I were you, I would not use Glycolic Acid toner but only the peeling solution and retinol. And maybe Niacinamide if needed. So you could use the peeling solution once a week. And on the other days, the Niacinamide and retinol if tolerated. But you need to adjust the frequency of the retinol to your personal needs. I noticed every time that I use retinol the corners of my lips burn the next couple of days and I don’t put it close to my lips so I think during the night it must melt and run into the corners so from now on I’m going to put Vaseline on first on my lips. I also dampen my face before I put retinol on. My question is I have been using retinol for over a month only once a week can I use it twice a week? And also I’m going to start using Bha/Hha do I use it only once a week?
Hey :) I "burned" my bottom lip as well (I applied it too close to the lip) at the very beginning when I just started using Retinol...I know that this isn't a pleasant feeling🙈 Try using a lip balm or Vaseline on your lips and corners to avoid the irritation again from happening... I also recommend using Retinol on dry skin, if that's the first product you use. Since if you apply it immediately on damp skin or use Hyaluronic Acid before applying your Retinol, this can increase the absorption of the product - meaning it sinks into the skin too quickly and therefore can cause irritation. The "slower" it penetrates the skin the less likely you are getting irritation :) When using the Ordinary Peeling Solution, use it once per week but please do not use your Retinol after that, this combination can cause skin irritation! If your skin can tolerate your Retinol once per week, you can move up to using it twice per week. What strength of Retinol do you use? And is this the first time you are using it?

Hello Saira, Use The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser Follow with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser Pixi Retinol Toner or Salicylic Acid Serum (it just layers better, but the retinol is not an issue here) Hyaluronic serum or The Ordinary Niacinamide The Ordinary Moisturiser The main reason for this is the layering; if you use so many products in a routine, chances are very high that the ingredients cannot penetrate the skin well (that's at least my experience). I always recommend using only 1-2 serums per routine.
It should do the opposite. Still, if you had a build-up of dead skin cells, it could make them more visible, yes (because they were hiding under that build up ) And yes, you can use that along with The Ordinary Niacinamide or use them in different routines.

In this case, do I need to include BHA, Retinol & Niacinamide?? Or would BHA & Niacinamide alone be enough for a start off?? And thank you in advance.
Hey! :) You can use BHA and Niacinamide in the same routine and Niacinamide and Retinol/Retinoid. That's fine. However, using BHA and Retinol together isn't recommended since it can lead to dryness and possibly irritation. If you are suffering from red acne marks, I recommend Niacinamide. However, if you have dark brown spots, I recommend looking for Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and/or maybe Tranexamic Acid. Cerave's Resurfacing Retinol serum has also Niacinamide in it and a low strength Retinol. This may be an option if you want to have the two in one but still a gentle combination. Or look at Adapalene (Differin) - a Retinoid. I use it myself, and I think it works great for dark spots as my skin renews itself reasonably quickly, which helps to fade acne marks quickly. As for real acne scars, I recommend seeing a dermatologist and ask for the best treatment accordingly to your acne scars.

Yes, you can use Buffet with Niacinamide and Retinol. 🙂
Hey Melissa, thank you for your clear explanation. Quick question, is my order correct?

Should I use it in this order or should I switch or eliminate anything?
Thank you

Hi Melissa, I have open pores and dullness on my skin. I’ve recently started using Niacinamide and Retinol as mentioned in your video. Will this help me for my open pores or do you have any better routine I could try?
It can help to get them back to normal. No, there isn't much else you can use. Retinol and Niacinamide is the best option. The only "upgrade" you can do is using medical strength Retinoids, which you can only get on prescription.

Thanks it was really helpful 💗💗

Planning to use ordinary retinol and ordinary niacinamide together.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet hahahah love ya Melissa 🙈🙈

Hello Melissa, I have a question:
I have to splash water on my face multiple times (i can make it last to 3 ) to perform ablution, do you recommend applying all products all over again (treatment, moisturizer, Sunscreen if day time).
#SkinCareWhileMuslim
Hey :) No, there is no need to do this. If you are exposed to the sun for a longer period, you can reapply the sunscreen or moisturizer with SPF. But no need to reapply the treatments multiple times a day. 🙂
Thanku so much for this simplest explanation and clearing all possible doubts.

Hey! :)
For how long have you been using it?
Do you use it daily?
What else do you use?
Melissa I hope you can help. Ive always used paulas choice BHA exfoliant. I get on well with it.
I recently purchased retinol 1% and niacinamide 10%.
I use BHA twice a week, niacinamide 3 times a week ans retinol twice a week all on different days. I have only used retinol twice and have patches of red almost like sun burn on my face. My queation is
Should i stop with the niacinamide as well as retinol? Stop the BHA? or try mixing them with a moisturiser to dilute them? Will that work? I have also started using the currwnt body led mask and ziip halo. Nothing is helping with the hormonal acne on my chin. Help x
Hey! :)
A 1% retinol product can be quite intense depending on the formulation.
Thank you Melissa,this is all very helpfull.Thank you.Have a nice weekend to.👍🤗

@@momscookingasmr3312 Okay I just wanted to know if it's not purging or another reaction. I assume that it is because they now come faster to the surface and therefore they are more visible :) Retinol increases cell turnover meaning your skin is regenerating more quickly (It takes only 25 days instead of 30 days +/- that's just an example) Therefore, everything happens a bit faster. So when using it ongoing, they will fade more quickly. No need to worry. Just make sure that you do not overdo it in the beginning with the product since it can lead to irritation (dryness, redness, burning) give it time!:)

Hi Melissa, What if my work is on graveyard shift? When will I use Retinol % in squalane? because I've read an article saying that skincare products works best when you're asleep? Is this true?
"During sleep, your skin's blood flow increases, and the organ rebuilds its collagen and repairs damage from UV exposure, reducing wrinkles and age spots."
So when is the best time to use retinol and how often..?
you said niacinamide can use everyday day and night....

I'm not sure what effect it would have since I've never tried it. I guess that you have to try it and see how it goes. I use these same products, and use them as such : morning - HA, buffet+copper, Niacinamide, moisturiser sunscreen.
Night: HA, niacinamide, retinol, moisturiser
Alternate night: lactic acid, HA, moisturiser
Disclaimer being that I gradually started with the retinol - only using it on its own 2 times a week then building it up. Then when I was sure my skin was agreeable to the retinol, I added in additional products.
Hi, Which moisturiser should use after ordinary Niacinamide + Cereve retinol + which moisturiser??
Depending on your needs, none, but it really depends if your skin becomes dry and what you like using. But a light gel or lotion will likely be enough unless you have very dry skin. So Neutrogena Hydro Boost or G&G Hydration station.

Waiting times in between 30-60seconds if needed
I noticed every time that I use retinol the corners of my lips burn the next couple of days and I don’t put it close to my lips so I think during the night it must melt and run into the corners so from now on I’m going to put Vaseline on first on my lips. I also dampen my face before I put retinol on. My question is I have been using retinol for over a month only once a week can I use it twice a week? And also I’m going to start using Bha/Hha do I use it only once a week?
Hey :)
I "burned" my bottom lip as well (I applied it too close to the lip) at the very beginning when I just started using Retinol...I know that this isn't a pleasant feeling🙈
Try using a lip balm or Vaseline on your lips and corners to avoid the irritation again from happening...
The "slower" it penetrates the skin the less likely you are getting irritation :)
When using the Ordinary Peeling Solution, use it once per week but please do not use your Retinol after that, this combination can cause skin irritation!
If your skin can tolerate your Retinol once per week, you can move up to using it twice per week. What strength of Retinol do you use? And is this the first time you are using it?

Yes, that's fine! Make sure not to use too much product of each serum when layering multiple serums after each other to make sure that your skin can absorb it and avoid pilling :)

Yes, I recommend using them in separate routines as this may become very dry if used together. Use a gentle cleanser in your evening routine instead which you can use as well when using your Retinol! :)
Also, start with a low strength Retinol! :)

Hey! :)
Overall your routine looks good!
If you still get active acne, I recommend looking into a 4% or 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser (CeraVe, Differin or Panoxyl). Use your BP Cleanser in the AM and in the PM, use your gentle cleanser and continue with the routine that you listed above.
I am 18 and I want to try the youth to the people superfood cleanser, Is It ok if After that I apply a Booster with niacinamide and at night a Booster with retinol ? That type of cleanser contains vitamin C, Is that the wrong combination? Plus, I have combination skin and I am trying to get ride of enlarged pores on my front and nose.
I also want to try the Kiehl's rare earth deep pore cleansing mask.
What do you think?
I think these products are not the best to address your skin concerns. Still, you can test them, if that is the kind of products you want to buy.
You can use it with Niacinamide or Retinol.
My advice is to use a Salicylic Acid cleanser with 2% to help target your enlarged pores, and since you have combination skin, it can work well to use it all over the face. That way, you save money, and it will be more effective.

Dear Mellisa.. In PM routine i am using Double cleansing with A foaming cleanser main ingredients niacinamide..
Can i use niacinamide the ordinary seerum in this routine...???
Q2
After double cleaning with foaming cleanser and The ordinary Cleanser
I use pixi Retinol toner
Hyaluronic serum
Sylicalic serum
The ordinary moisturiser
Is this routine ok..??
Q3
Or can i use this Pixi retinol toner daily or every other day...??? Plz lemme knw ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Saira,
Use The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
Follow with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
Pixi Retinol Toner or Salicylic Acid Serum (it just layers better, but the retinol is not an issue here)
Hyaluronic serum or The Ordinary Niacinamide
The Ordinary Moisturiser
The main reason for this is the layering; if you use so many products in a routine, chances are very high that the ingredients cannot penetrate the skin well (that's at least my experience). I always recommend using only 1-2 serums per routine.
I have started using retin a 0.06 % a month back 2 times a week. Can it enlarge the pores? Also can I use ordinary Niacinamide 10% for am routine
It should do the opposite. Still, if you had a build-up of dead skin cells, it could make them more visible, yes (because they were hiding under that build up )
And yes, you can use that along with The Ordinary Niacinamide or use them in different routines.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet I have been exfoliating it twice a week with salicylic acid

yes, you can :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you for answering ❤️❤️
Awesome video and in depth explanation as always from You, thank you for that ♥️ Now, since no one has asked, I wonder, what about people who uses Bha?
For an instance, I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant followed by Neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer. I have deeper skin tone therefore my hyper pigmentation is definitely an issue for me. Since I'm still not totally convinced to be using retinol, can I use the BHA with Niacinamide??? If yes, how can I include it in my skincare routine?
Another question is between Niacinamide, Retinol and Vitamin C, which helps with hyper pigment and helps in resurfacing the skin better??? I do have textured skin, pores and even scars from acne. In this case, do I need to include BHA, Retinol & Niacinamide?? Or would BHA & Niacinamide alone be enough for a start off??
And thank you in advance.
Hey! :)
You can use BHA and Niacinamide in the same routine and Niacinamide and Retinol/Retinoid.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you for that answer. I'm indian with deeper skin tone so most of my marks/spot are darker brown-ish color. As a beginner, would it be alright to start with Niacinamide first then then maybe 6 months later start retinol??
