Gotta be careful because some stock radios are not the factory installed premium sound system. The 3 multi-conductor connectors are a dead giveaway. The non-premium setups only have 2 multi-conductor cables. This video shows the premium system. Makes a difference when ordering cables! This video doesn't show the complete cabling that needs to be done. The cable kit he needed was the Metra 70-5701 or the Red Wolf premium sound wiring kit. Plus some after market radios have a DVD player that has a long green wire in the radio cabling that needs to be connected to the parking brake. I haven't found a video that shows how to connect it.
I know this video is 5 years old, however on 03 GT 5 speed w/ a Hurst Tee handle I had my local Tailor put a Zipper up the back of the boot. Now unzip the boot and the shifter goes right through.
Ok listeners! I have a 2002 mustang gt with Mach 460 system . Factory radio has 3 plug harness. This is where I got confused! The third wire harness with the 3 wire from factory radio will not need to be used at all . Just follow this videos steps and there you go ! It works!
I have the same set up and am lost a little bit. My Pioneer harness has no blue/Red, has an orange/white. And the guide I was using doesn't say to use the step down converter? Any help?
So my read ports are different cuz it’s a different unit obviously; any idea which exact port you plugged the white one into? Red went to the sub and the white went ?
@@jacobpowers6553 was a while ago. but I just ignored it. I think when i got the metra it came with instructions, or I just used this video. I honestly can't remember other than it wasn't really that difficult. and the metra kit was all I needed. was essentially just a tedious process of matching up the wires. and the metra fit wasn't perfect. there was a bit where i thought I ordered the wrong part but it fiddled with it A LOT , and got it in.
Lost all my tools from my last stereo installation, put a double din with bt mic on a 2000 F150. That was alotta fun. Now my Mach 1 needs the upgrade. I dunno if I should go buy another crimper and caps or just let crutchfield wire em for me like a lazy ass.
I am so confused so sorry for the stupid question, I have never installed a radio before and am trying to do mine in a 2001 mustang gt. Do I need a wiring harness or is it possible to do it without? The new radio only has one big plug for power etc, but the old one has a few
Hey man I really need your help I just bought a Mustang and only the front tweeters are playing nothing else the amps are good I took out the radio and saw that the wiring as a little Miss configurated if you see this could you please get back to me ASAP please
Hi MachNone do you still have the part numbers for the wire harnesses and mounting bracket I’m literally getting the same radio but idk where to get those other things
If I understand correctly, the stock Mach amps have high and low pass filters for feeding the tweeters and woofers, respectively, so the crossover settings aren't necessary?
There's a third OEM harness for my Mach 460 system and if I'm reading the wiring diagrams correctly that third OEM harness is a speed sensor input that controls the OEM head units volume (there's a setting for it). Apparently, the aftermarket units don't have that option.
Omg that was the most easiest and fastest stereo install i have ever done. Thanks for the info !!!!
i realize it is pretty randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream new series online ?
BRO THANK YOU. You're the only person I found with the same setup as me that knew how to wire it up
Seth Conover haha ya mom
my 03 gt has the 3 harness in the back of the radio too. your how to is the easiest ive found on doing the wiring. thank you!
Thanks man i'm just happy my video helped someone cause it was confusing for me to figure out
@@machnone7967 i put my pioneer in today and it went extremely smooth cause of your video. Im not real proficient in wiring, so thanks again!

thanks for the video! i installed a single Din Kenwood stereo in my 2003 Mach1 with Mach460 sound system.
Happy to help
Hello can you please send me a link to what kit you used to install the stereo for single din, I have the same exact thing
Please and thank you!

Can you send me a link to what exact stereo kit you used, the single din one, because I've seen so many types
I have the mach 1000. Same deal to install?
So my read ports are different cuz it’s a different unit obviously; any idea which exact port you plugged the white one into? Red went to the sub and the white went ?
What about replacing the three black ones under radio buttons switches any thoughts
I was totally following until you got to the 12 to 5v step down. I don't know where that came from. I got the metra 70-5519
What did you do if you Didnt have a stepdown

Yo bro what is the size of the radio? There is so many size options 🤦🏻♂️
what radio is that?
I don’t have a blue and white wire from the harness only the antenna wire how do I make this work
2000 and lower has a completly different radio. Its 2 single dins so dont plan on easily swaping a double din in there
This is the problem I'm having

Is the step down for the amplifier pop? If so where did you get it?
Order it off crurchfield I got it at a local stereo store
Hi MachNone do you still have the part numbers for the wire harnesses and mounting bracket I’m literally getting the same radio but idk where to get those other things
What happens if u don't use a step down?
If I understand correctly, the stock Mach amps have high and low pass

crossover settings aren't necessary?
So I dont need that crossover piece ? Just got my wiring harness in and I don’t have one of those
So what do you do with the third plug on the factory harness that the "power antenna" would have plugged into?
Sykotik 2V dont use it idk what cars need it but i doubt its the new edge mustangs
What about the brown wires. What color wire did you connect them to
Just color match with all the other colors

Can this work for the mach 1000? So far ive only found mach 460s tutorials
And is yours convertible
How’d u end up routing the usb? I’m tryna make it clean
routed it under center console and drilled a hole and put a grommet
I dont have a stepdown what can i do
Don’t need it
What year mustang is this?
2003
