I have owned the EV Jazz for two years and just love it as a drivers car. Most reviews of the Jazz just miss how smooth and frugal the drive can be. Honda is an engineering company, their cars are beautifully built, reliability legendary. Good value. 😊
Hi, nice review. I purchased a new Crosstrar some 9 months ago. I have to say that I cannot really fault it. I get 61mpg and I do get the occasional foot down moments and don't hang around which is very good. The feature I love is the driver assist one when driving on motorway or dual carriageway which you set to required speed and the drive assist takes over. It is absolutely brilliant, keeps the car in the lane, follows any vehicles you catch up which you can over ride if required and move out to faster lane and will keep doing it on its own for about half minute hands and legs free but will prompt you to touch the steering to make sure you have not fallen asleep. As long as you lightly touch the steering wheel it will drive on it's own which takes the stress out of driving especially on motorways. Love it. There are many other features on this vehicle that I like and am over the moon with it.
The Jazz costs more than other cars in its class like the Polo but you are getting a better and more car for your money. It's a shame that it has been associated with older people in the UK. In Asia many young people drive it and there are many mods for it. Also the class leading rear passenger space makes the car good for young/small families too. I'd like to see an all electric Jazz.
I've got the Sport. Great car. Shame you forgot to mention the sports mode and paddles to drive it! Heated seats and heated steering wheel . Goes so much better than the 6 gear model, and so much faster acceleration !
An extremely reliable car, well thought out flexible-use interior and abstemious petrol consumption. A car for all ages. I've had a Jazz for 20 years, and both of them have rarely needed a repair. Highly recommended.
I saw this video a few weeks ago when we were looking to change our car. Tish did a great job as we have just bought a 2020 Crosstar from John Banks. I am very impressed with what is a well engineered car. I’m not young, but I think this could also be a great car for a younger driver.
I first had a Jazz in my 40s and now I'm in my 60s, so I guess I'm the target demographic now. Maybe with age, comes wisdom. I've had three Jazzes and they've all been brilliant. I may get another with my next walking stick!
I have an older style Jazz, 2017, & it's great. I've taken people in the back, lots of room, folded the seats to carry lots to the dump, fantastic....Love it for long journeys regularly get 60+ & I don't hang around ....brilliant.....
The facelift changes have massively improved its looks. My wife is 32 and on her 3rd Jazz (the first 2 were written off in accidents). Current is the 2012 model and is incredible, super reliable, practical as a 2nd car and easy to drive. Shame Honda can’t get the rest of their range as impressive as the Jazz or Civic. The rest just seem like they’ve massively missed the mark
Older people value reliability in a car much more than younger drivers.... They have also learned that a fast car does not necessarily get you there any quicker, and will get you more speeding points on your licence.
The Jazz has always been a great little car and bomb proof reliability. Though i think the current model i a tad plain i'd prefer the older model with the rear light running up the rear pillars to be honest.
Superb presentation again, all the important information you need when making a decision what cars to consider buying. I'm old and so many features are genuinely very important.
Great car, just wish Honda would improve their warranties. I know they're reliable but long warranty gives peace of mind and boosts values on the used market. Toyota = 10 years. Suzuki and Kia = 7 years, Hyundai = 5 years. Come on Honda , you must have faith in your cars so match these others and I'll buy one !
The back seat space has done it for me.... back seat space sems to be a rare thing in this segment, yet it is the segment where people are most likely to travel in a group
We drove the Crosstra for 4 Years and 50.000km and loved it, And I hope our new HRV will do the job as goog as the Crosstar. Please Excuse my bad English. Kind Regards from Germany
Hi again Tish! 👋🏻 Yes, I'm with you that the Honda Jazz deserves more attention from potential buyers. It is a practical and very reliable car. Not only for old people but also for young people as well. I don't know if the Cross version is still available with an off-road look that suited this model very well.
This car is not suitable for posers or people who cannot embrace new technology. The “ugly” front is actually aerodynamically sound. The drive is by electric which is generated by an internal combustion engine operating on the Atkinson cycle which means that it can achieve high mpg without lack of power. The accelerator pedal controls the speed of the cat, not the speed of the engine and the engine only engages directly with the front wheels when the car exceeds 65-70 mph. There is no gearbox and it is impossible to stall the car. I know a few drivers would miss shifting gears, snatched clutches, exercising the clutch pedal foot etc. but for those who do not equate driving as some sort of macho activity the Jazz eHEV offers a comfortable effortless driving experience that is the future of personal transportation.
Can’t speak to Android Auto but CarPlay has been wireless since this gen was introduced. Works pretty much flawlessly, don’t remember ever having it drop. Maybe once or twice a year it’ll struggle to connect but that always seemed to be right after an iOS update so I suspect that’s more on Apple than Honda.
still going on a 2005 Jazz, did 63mpg going to Scotland from Cambs. The earlier model is significantly larger on the inside than the latest one reviewed here with a 353litre boot with seats up. it's lighter and nimbler than the later models.
Great review, now subscribed. I'd love to buy the Crosstar version, I'm on the new Skoda Fabia but very disappointed (the previous version was far superior). I hope that as soon as my lease contract expires the prices will be down a bit: CHF 34'000 is a lot 😔
Always tickles me about modern cars boasts of fuel economy, the huge difference in price due to technology in most cases negates any savings in fuel costs for the average owner.
Older people value the practical side more than the image side. Even if they have money. I would rather have this than a mercedes c-class if I lived in a city. But maybe a vw up would be even better since you can park anywhere almost.
The UP is too small for other scenarios and I don't think it's all that good a car. ex had one and the Jazz, certainly the older ones, is difficult to outclass by most.
Great review. Those back seats are very clever. I have no issue driving an old person car, I do drive an Ioniq after all. But my issue is the exterior looks like it was from a car of 20 years ago
The truth is that car manufacturers wage war on each other with stylistic refinements. The bodywork must necessarily be original. With often catastrophic results. Honda jazz has a sober, classic and very practical line.
2001-2005 Honda Jazz has a 353litre Boot space, so they've managed to make it smaller on the inside whilst making it fatter on the outside and losing the height of the load area too. This is now just a bog standard bloated mini SUV with too much crap weighing it down!
Some have said that Honda's are for 'old' people for decades. I've had three Preludes, a Civic coupe and a Civic Sport.....so I must be geriatric. One day I'll retire, and when I do I'll go out a treat myself to a Civic Type 'R' to upset the judgmental.
Honda reliable brand. If you are the sort of person who insists buying new, keep it beyond the warranty and stop worrying. Some people seem to think once the warranty expires, or does a certain mileage it will suddenly be unreliable. Lexus, I just got a used hybrid. 60k on the clock, full Lexus history, passed every MOT with NO advisories ever, drives like new. Fraction of the price of a new one. People are just idiots wasting money on new cars if they keep trading them in every two or three years. PCP obsessed, rent a car forever. Muppets.
Soon as you do 31mph it starts beeping, constant beeping and you can not permanently turn it off, this beeping is on all new honda cars and it's really annoying. 20 grand for an annoying beep, you've got to be crazy to buy one.
Try keeping to the speed limit in a 30m.p.h. zone. That beeping is reminding you that you're speeding. Try using the "cancel" switch on the right hand steering wheel pod. Or maybe you've set the speed control to 30 m.p.h. See your dealer for more details or read the handbook.
Most compact cars are actually 2+2 cars with a cramped rear seat. However, the Honda Jazz is very spacious in the back, the problem is that to sit comfortably in the front, you don't have to be too tall.
Look at how happy owners are with their Dacias, they always do well in customer surveys. I have had 2 and covered over 40,000 miles with no problems. I used to always own Toyota and Honda cars and yes they were good reliable cars but I still had some minor issues with both brands and services/ parts were very expensive. People go on about French cars etc. but for me they have been the cheapest and most reliable cars I have ever run and I do 17000 miles a year.😊
Im not a bigot, but I have to mention typical women's thinking. She said dash board cup holder is perfect by the vent to keep hot drinks warm. That may be true in winter when you have heating on, but she did not think that in summer you get aircon blowing cold air 😉
@@Christmascancelledno it is not the truth.Modern Dacias easily can survive 5 years without any particular investments.Otherwise for 12K you can repair them maaany times and you will be still better off
Ordinarily I enjoy your reviews, but on this occasion, we may not be looking at the same car. Pensioner's car for sure. Bland and uninspiring. Wipe clean seats? Wonder why 🤔
My god, just wait until you are over 60 you will realise how stupid your comment sounds, it's ironic because most men over 60 find it difficult to pee.
The only reason I am watching this video is because the Honda Jazz is a car for old people. Review takes 5 seconds. It’s a Dacia sandero/Vauxhall Corsa cross with a Japanese badge in it. But now overpriced.
I have a crosstar 2021. Love it, but hate the seats.Far too soft,. After a year of ownership am beginning to feel the seat frame through the side bolster.🫤.. not good ! My previous Yaris had much better seats..
I have owned the EV Jazz for two years and just love it as a drivers car. Most reviews of the Jazz just miss how smooth and frugal the drive can be. Honda is an engineering company, their cars are beautifully built, reliability legendary. Good value. 😊
the designs are pretty well thought out, and it gives great acceleration when you need it. I love mine a lot!

I have a 2011 Honda Jazz. I have had for 8 years. It is amazing.
I understand the engine is still Vtec so basically the same apart from it being Hybrid

Honda always built great small cars. That's how they built their brand, small cars and motorcycles.

Honda have a five year warranty in the UK.
Kia’s seven year isn’t what it seems, read the small print and you’ll see!
My dad has it for 15 years and not ONE problem so dont worry
never heard its for old people, they are excellent cars
Just heard it only this week. Apparently stigma made by hyper insecure hyper masculine “car” guys.
The back seat space has done it for me.... back seat space sems to be a rare thing in this segment, yet it is the segment where people are most likely to travel in a group
Most underrated practical thing with most cars. Even some saloons don't get leg and head room right in their cars.
If you do low mileage hybrids tend to get flat batteries as they need a good run at least once per week

What do I do with the 12v battery going flat? In a good week I might do about 50 miles so I forsee an irritable AA man.
Recently drove my jazz from Leeds to Portsmouth. Tired me out but not the jazz . I got 94 miles to the gaiion 😁
It is a cool car and I wish we could get the latest Fit also!
I’m getting 67 mpg in echo and B mode and I’m a driving instructor.. says it all
How does the brake regeneration work with the flappy paddles? Is the regen strong?
Would be nice if it had wireless charging for your phone and I suspect to use Apple CarPlay you’d need to connect your phone via a cable?
No, it has Bluetooth.

I am surprised in uk people think Jazz is for older people. In Japan or even Asian, Jazz is quite popular among young people.

The battery dies. The device dies.
Over 30 thousand pounds for a Jazz though.
For the older driver they have wipe clean seats lest your incontinence pants leak.
