  • Today I'm going to show you how to make a container scrub. Its quick & easy and it creates an amazing scrub! You're going to love it!
You only need 2 ingredients: raw coconut oil & an exfoliant. All other ingredients are optional and the amounts can be changed.
RECIPE: 150 grams raw Coconut Oil , 50 grams fragrance oil, 5 grams preservative, 50 grams baking soda, 50 grams citric acid, 50 grams sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (SLSa) [or a different powdered surfactant], & 400 grams exfoliant (I used Epsom salt). **This scrub can be 2 ingredients or it can be 10! It's up to you - the maker! Either way, it's still an amazing scrub because of the coconut oil. But please note that if you don't add the powdered ingredients, the scrub will have a different look, texture, & feel. The powdered ingredients soak up the extra oil & make it thicker. Plus, they give it all that lovely foam & lather**
Cream the coconut oil. Mix in liquid ingredients first, then the dry ingredients. Last stir in the exfoliant. The baking soda, citric acid, & SLSa create foam and lather. After everything has been mixed together, adjust the scrub to your liking. Cure the scrub 12-24 hours. You don't have to cover it, but if you do make sure the lid is loose because pressure will build up as the scrub expands & contracts (from baking soda & citric acid). As it cures, the scrub will become one; the dry ingredients will absorb the wet ingredients. Also, after it's cured, the scrub will be a bit drier and the colors become a bit darker. Divide the batch for different colors and add liquid and/or dry colorants to each. Use a piping bag to make stripes. Add dark green lines first, then fill in the gaps with a lighter green. Pack the layers well. For a thicker rind, layer the colors on top of each other.
If you mess up and make the green to high or you want to make a cool pattern, use a spoon to push the green down, then push the pink in the gaps.
Wet your skin. Grab a small amount of scrub and rub it on your skin. This scrub glides on easy, feels creamy, and exfoliates perfectly. After exfoliating activate the scrub with a bit of water then watch a thick foamy lather appear. This is awesome as it cleans skin but also makes the scrub light, fluffy, and easy to rinse off.

I like how you give the bare minimum for us more lazy home diy girls like me, but give more options for a fancy scrub! It really helps me feel that the results are easily achieved and the process is understandable. ❤

I dont think so. not any more than usual, but the important part (from what I can tell) it doesn't separate - like the oil doesn't pool and separate from the scrub. it stays mixed up

If the scrub becomes a little drying, could you add a little coco betaine or do you think it is best just to add a little more coconut oil? I would like it to spread even and smoothly. I forgot to say, they look beautiful. I'm waiting on some watermelon essential oil to come in.

the foam is from the baking soda and citric acid. but you can definitely sub the SLSa for the SCI.

Ok so, I'm having a hard time getting these right. I followed the recipe to a T but 3 days later it's still liquidy and runny. I say screw it and go ahead and put it in the jars anyway and the next day the jars are leaking oil and when I unscrew the cap it blows off. I waited like 3 or 4 days to jar it. Why can't I get this right? What am I doing wrong? Plz help. I have a craft fair coming up and I wanted to make these my center piece
