Radio Friendly has the coolest rhythm section of all Nirvana songs, while Kurt's going ape on his guitar and effect pedals, Krist and Dave just bang on and just carry the song
I've always thought that Krist has always been incredibly underrated since I don't always hear a lot of people talk about his bass playing, dude is an absolutely killer player and has written some of the coolest bass lines in rock history that perfectly compliment Kurt's guitars, not to mention him and Dave are one of the best rhythm sections in rock imo
Hi, it's been about four years since I discovered Nirvana, their music has helped me in my life and in what I've been through, and today that I'm better hearing these intros of Krist's magical bass makes me happy, Thank you
Krist is a great player too, even though he's overshadowed by Kurt and Dave. Krist's bass was definitely the link between Kurt's noisy guitar and Dave's powerful drum.
3:39 - The Been a Son solo does not sound like that. Unless there’s a recording I’m unfamiliar with. The first half sounds like the Blew version. Later releases and live the solo was played a certain way.
You can really tell the songs where Krist laid down the first part and Kurt played along to it (like Lounge Act) and vice versa (like Downer). I could be wrong but if the bass part of Downer was written first then I've lost the tiniest bit of respect for everyone involved.
I actually think the Lounge Act bass line may have been inspired by Send Me A Postacard, only because it sounds similar. I haven’t heard Krist say that or anything so I don’t know for sure.
I think Nevermind is kinda overrated compared to Nirvana's other stuff, but I think the best thing about that album is Krist's bass playing. I think his best work is on Nevermind.
On this I currently have Ernie ball standard gauge, whatever they are. I think I prefer the original Fender ones it came with though because they sounded brighter.
I hate the dreaded “underrated” comment on yt, but honestly Kurt’s songs would be pretty sucky without Krist bass lines. Krist and Jeff Ament are my favorites 90s bassists

i disagree kurt carries that song
@@hospitalfood4144nirvana is a group and everyone does their part perfectly. No one carries but everyone
Lounge act looked like the hardest one to play
And Stay Away
Mr. Moustache is the hardest, your hand will keep getting tired from playing that riff
Grandma take me home
It’s tricky. You have to move your left hand pretty rapidly up and down the fret board
I've tried learning that opening riff and my fingers just can't handle it
it's really awesome to see a list with their more underground songs
Smells Like Teen Spirit?
@KingOfTheKnight I didn't say all the songs
@@benji2k05 oh sorry
@@KingOfTheKnight nah you're all good haha

Always serving the song. Giving it what it needs.
@ Exactly, yeah
Couldn’t agree more
💯
He's kinda like a bass-playing Pete Townshend in terms of his stage presence.
Great playing. The movement on the neck with the notes is the best. The effects for the songs, too. 👏🎸
I came for Lounge act and left happy 🖤🤘
Same

"Dive" was always my favourite Nirvana song. Still is.
Token Eastern Song and If You Must mentioned, instant like
Got some of their more obscure songs here man!
Never realised how good the basslines in nirvana songs were
Yeah he tends to get overshadowed a bit by his band mates.
Hairspray Queen is so psychodelic
post punk. They were heavily inspired by Gang of Four for that song.
Krist is one of the most underrated bass players of all time.
yeah man I love him so much
oooh man radio unit is so bad ass!...the rest are great too!
been listening to sliver for years, and ive never noticed that bassline in the chorus!! i always thought he just played the root notes
I’m glad you discovered If You Must, one of my favorite Nirvana songs
Amazing! Krist is one of the greatest bass players of all time
Dive always brings me back to sophomore year in high school. Love it.
Krist is a great player too, even though he's overshadowed by Kurt and Dave.
Krist's bass was definitely the link between Kurt's noisy guitar and Dave's powerful drum.
its time for you to start slapping that BASS!!!!
Krist is amazing during his career with Nirvana.
Love Buzz and D-7 are covers but nice vid. Lounge Act is the absolute best IMO
serve the servants chorus riff 🥵🥵🥵
that was nice thanks!
love the tone you have going on, wish i could get new strings
I love Stay Away!! It would be really great if you had the drum track with each bass line too!!
so good!!

Sounds like the Blew EP version
My favorite bass player all time
Love it pal ❤️
Blew's bass intro is such an interesting one. 4/4, 4/4, 4/4, 7/8 and back to 4/4.
Might do a video on this.
Would love to meet Krist someday
I'm waiting for that Pennyroyal Tea cover ❤
Can you make a video about Bill Wyman best bass lines?
Krist is an underrated bassist.
FUCKING AWESOME!
hairspray queen 💪🏼
Can u do John Decaon (Queen)
❤
Hi Bloxsy. plss do a placebo cover again.. with the cyclone i love it
Ese tono es increíble suena riquísimo
Iconic 😏
Nice as always, Lemmy's next please?
I thought I knew them all but there are parts I had no idea he did something different
Breed is too good, downer is very unexpectedly good, and lounge act is stunning as always
Awesome! I'm a JB player but you made me want a PB. How did you get the tones here? Amp sim? Pedals? Cheers!
Thank you. I’m plugged in directly and using an amp sim in GarageBand. I think the setting is called ‘modern stack’
You're the best bassist
Thank you
Those bends on dive are a pain
The correct why to play Nirvana bassline is barefoot and bass hanging down to your shins.
Grandma take me home, grandma take me home...
Not accurate, you didn't swing the bass over your head for Teen Spirit /s
Nah, great video. Say what you want, Krist knows his way around a bass
He also didn't play with the bass around his ankles!
я все твои видосы про басы смотрю
unfortunately the album in utero doesn't have bass riffs as striking as on the other albums
I think Lithium deserves to be included

Like deployed 👍
😎🎸✅️
почему в smells like teen spirit партия куплета а не припева..?
Isn’t D-7 originally a Wipers song? Great video
True. I liked that bass line though.
@ maybe an idea for a video is “_# riffs that were sampled and became famous.” Also would love some Cramps riffs
And Love Buzz is a cover, too. It was written by some 60s band that sounded a bit like Jefferson Airplane.
@ oh right it was shocking blue! Love that band - send me a postcard, Venus
I actually think the Lounge Act bass line may have been inspired by Send Me A Postacard, only because it sounds similar. I haven’t heard Krist say that or anything so I don’t know for sure.
Only a troll would keep Come AsYou Are u til the end.
Haha it was a last minute addition along with teen spirit ☺️
I think Nevermind is kinda overrated compared to Nirvana's other stuff, but I think the best thing about that album is Krist's bass playing. I think his best work is on Nevermind.
what strings do you use?
On this I currently have Ernie ball standard gauge, whatever they are. I think I prefer the original Fender ones it came with though because they sounded brighter.
Those Ernie Balls sound dang good!
I hate the dreaded “underrated” comment on yt, but honestly Kurt’s songs would be pretty sucky without Krist bass lines. Krist and Jeff Ament are my favorites 90s bassists
ты мой кумир братан
You're playing it all wrong! Your bass needs to be down to your knees, at least.
еслиб не ты я бы пресижн не купил
