I think mostly because post grunge was the essential alt rock sound. Bands like nickelback, three days grace topped charts and they all had grungy vocals and riffs/tones
What😂 grunge was dead by the early 2000s it was the start of post hardcore, emo/scremo and punk rock had hit its peak and was on the decline. Also metalcore was starting to get big… grunge was dead by 99

@@bloxsy_ ah, I was curious since I believe the main riff is on bass and the guitars play the leads over it. From watching this it looks like you played it in drop C which seems odd for a non-heavy band but then again they have a song 'Acid Turkish Bath' which is in drop C. I got a similar sound with downtuning and my Whammy set to an octave down, which I thought sounded nice

The "Bleed American" and "Date With the Night" riffs are probably my favorites of the bunch. The latter isn't super fast or impressive but it never fails to get me pumped. I'd have loved to see you play a Rise Against riff, or Hot Water Music's "Trusty Chords" (not a super well known band, but I recall the NME interviewed a bunch of bands back in '09 about what they thought was the best song of the decade was and a couple of them mentioned "Trusty Chords"; that riff is killer).

Love this, though after watching The 1990s video, you can see the bangers per year ratio is definitely reducing. Still some great riffs in the 00's but not as much to go around.

Pop and rap were the most popular genres in the 2000s, but rock in the 2000s is so awesome. One of my favorite decades in rock.

Love this, though after watching The 1990s video, you can see the bangers per year ratio is definitely reducing. Still some great riffs in the 00's but not as much to go around.

Great compilation, I would add in “I’m not ok - MCR”, “American Idiot - Greenday”, “in the morning - Razorlight” and “take me out - Franz Ferdinand”. Don’t particularly like any of those songs but they are undeniably iconic riffs.

Thanks. I was playing through a Boss Katana mk2. All sounds were from there and plugged directly into my laptop using a USB.
