And to think that old girl was once well-loved and very expensive. It is sad to think someone let her get to this condition. Thank you for letting her have at least one more run on the water.
That was excellent. Can’t wait for part three. Truly love the tree growing in it and also the gentle way you carefully removed all of the interior parts to get at the engine that was very nice. You are a crazy person. I like the idea of a open concept with no windshield no nothing that’s it’s a crazy looking boat
Your video shows your perseverance when challenged. There's a lot learned from your excellent knowledge of engine mechanics. I really enjoyed watching! Congrats getting it going!
I have never seen a squirrel so tame! Mine have all got big attitude issues. The boat doesn’t seem to want to give up so you can’t either! Braze the block and make a utility speedboat. It’s meant to be!
I love your boat videos. I'm currently working on my 1977 BAJA powered by a 1977 Evinrude 175 HP V6. Complete tear out of interior and floor. It's coming together nicely.
Great Video.... LOL.... A Bayliner.... those had a Volvo Pento, I believe... even when new they were considered a boat dumpster of the Great Lakes... nice squirrel !
Awesome video! I bought an old boat with a 30 chrysler outboard. Got it running and learned a ton about engines. Now I understand most of what you’re saying when I never would’ve otherwise. Keep it up and the squirrel is hilarious!
Like the open concept. I'd gut it out. Make an engine hood, add a few chairs. It would make a nice catfish / ski boat. That engine has seen better days. Braze that crack closed, I think you could have a lot of fun. Probably even move faster without all that stuff inside. Good luck.
Leo, your wife must be a saint ! - you should be able to weld that crack - even though many say no can do - there is a method - you are a riot Leo - I love the trash liner - I have a boat like yours and was thinking of making a flat top mini carrier of it. We had a pet squirrel too - that is rare - they are normally quite hard to tame - thanks agin Leo - great video ! Ray
You better give that squirrel some good treats looks like he's really trying to help out with the channel!! Lol that's pretty cool you got that boat running though. Down to bear bones you can make a really nice boat with that!
Thank you for picking up trash in the island. as I said before so many people don't care my wife and I picked up bags and bags of trash boating and camping also on earth day. I love watching your show even more that you have your little puppy thank you again
I’ve been a not boat guy a while (been out in the rancocas with my sisters ex husband a few times) and you got me with a passion to get a junk boat and fix it up!
Great video. Fabulous mechanical knowledge base. Thankful for your acknowledgement of safety issues. So many utubers just want to make a video for the quick ratings You go a whole lot further. Good luck in the future.
LOL , well that was a lot of fun. I really enjoy your videos and your "send it" attitude. :-) ... The engine in the trash liner actually sounds pretty decent. I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming 65 Fury videos and more Leo. Heck ramble on all you want I will be here to watch , thumbs UP to you. Have a great weekend!
18:00 mark - when man and machine become one 🤣 all jokes aside I loved this video the fact that you left the tree growing in it just made it all the better to see the trashliner on the water!
I love it when something considered trash is restored to enjoyable service. One year I encouraged the alumni from our six-month drug and alcohol rehab program to restore a '66 Mustang. That car turned out beautiful and was featured at the Long Beach Grand Prix exhibition. The men showcasing that car told visitors who admired it, that they too have been restored.
I have no knowledge about this engine,I try to follow the repair ,a little much beyond my mechanical know ledge, but very encouraging.thanks for the video.
It constantly amazes me your mechanical knowledge and ability to bring cars, boats etc back from the graveyards. Totally dig watching you work your skills. P. S. I love Leo and your wife. No disrespect intended.😃👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
All I can say is we would get along so very well. I'm called macgyver as well by my coworkers and the guy they say to bring that thing to, he'll think or make something work lol. Born and raised in the auto industry by dad, but he passed away when I was 16 leaving me and brother a 36 acre salvage yard. You sir would fit right in. Projects, inventions, you name it we tried it or tried to build it. Now an a/c technician I enjoy watching these videos that I can relate to. Want to play I have alot of u name it it's probably outback in the yard lol. Keep it up buddy as I will continue to watch you and enjoy your dedication and hard work.
Amazing how resilient these motors are. This is the first time I bumped into this video. I wish I had the determination as you to fix this clunker, but I am sure this will be worth it. Awaiting part 3. Thank you for sharing this experience. :)
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow oh...it was Leo who stole the show. Did you rescue Leo? He is so tame. Absolutely adorable. He probably deserves an episode dedicated for him.
Yeah he was one of three squirrels that we found in a truck camper air conditioner. Unfortunately he was the only one that survived. In the description of this video there is some links to videos that show where he came from. Mostly shorts
I do the SAME thing you do- on cars, boats, go karts- anything mechanical. My wife enjoys it and has been telling me to start my YT channel for the longest lol. You’ve def inspired me.
Best way to learn is start picking stuff up for free to tinker with. Trash picking lawn mowers and weed wackers is a great place to start. Or free boats! No shortage of them around here where I live.
Went back to watch this episode, as I have a boat renovation ongoing myself. Nothing this “big” but it was really helpful to see the bare engine mounting and attachments. Mine is a chev 350 stuffed in a 22 footer. Good times, and really helpful watching your work!
I always keep the Boats drain plug on the inside of the boat. Then if you ever take on a lot of water, you can take off, plain/plane the boat off and pull the plug. The water will drain out. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoying the video man the most fun is mucking around in old boat's getting them going great memories of young days with brother life's a boat hahaha Cheers
Thats where those 3.0 blocks generally crack under the manifold. You can epoxy the external crack, but if you had milky oil likely an internal crack as well
I was just thinking back when that boat was tucked up against the tree with trees growing out of it and now it’s on the river and you’re driving it it’s amazing good job brother
My dad worked for Ford Motor Co at the Cleveland casting plant in Ohio 25 years. Freeze plugs were basically for cleaning out the casting after it was finished. So you're right calling them casting holes.
Great job, dude. Amazing ton of work and you know how to roll fast thru it. You have an amazing knowledge and good organization of tools and parts and more.
My sister would love you, she has a pet squirrel 🐿 she named hers dalia. I love watch people mess with stuff to see if they can get it going. Have fun, I’ll be watching! 🥰
You are just amazing leo - I love it! Ya still have the tree in the boat - hurraaae - I did the same thing with an old Llman boat 40 years ago on Coniwingo dam - a crazy first test ride !
there is techniques to repair such a crack but where it is located, the chances for a successful repair are slim because the seating of the head gasket, if the block heve been cracked between the freeze plugs, the chances of success make it worth to try it. I had a very similar case on a V6 engine and I replaced the block.
This is absolutely awesome, something that most people who like to tinker have thought about doing with all the "free" boats online. Think I might have to pick mine up after watching this
I love this series. I just got a 450$ Bayliner and have to say, this is really cool. Mine is an 1988 but has 85 Force Outboard. Didn’t have a tree in it tho. Lots of moss, and pine needles tho!
Did you know there’s a tree 🌲 in it, lolololololllll, nice , hill billy, UA-cam man, good job, I love watching, thanks BigAl California. Praise grace Christ amen 🙏. Thanks BigAl.
I want to see you clean up this boat! Get all that junk out of there and rip the Inside out throw down some plywood and call it a new floor. Oh and the trailer man just yank that shit the other way. What an awsome video. Can't wait for part 3
You certainly are a jack of all trades. Cars, trucks, motorcycles and water craft... I really enjoy watching you do what you do so well...
i just cannot believe this enginge turned on after seeing water in everything... magic and skill! awesome!!!
I am shocked by how well that thing runs, considering all the water that was in it!
The sudden humor has me rollin! ‘Thought about redoing the front interior but may just go with an open concept’. Hahahah
And to think that old girl was once well-loved and very expensive. It is sad to think someone let her get to this condition. Thank you for letting her have at least one more run on the water.

Ha! Like the names of your projects! Customizing the removal of the motor shroud! 😁
Damn that was exciting! I was grinning the entire time you were on the river. Thanks for posting 👍
And once the "trees" in the boat push out their leaves, the shade will be much appreciated during those hot summer days. lol Thumbs Up!
A true mechanic....well done ✔ 👍

I love Leo, he’s so adorable and I love the trees still in the boat growing lol. You are going to need more space for all the projects and toys lol.
Yeah I definitely need more space
For a moment there I thought he was going to name the tree too!
Just one important thing, it is start and run 😂😂😂👏👏👏
