I like the versatility you have in your mechanical skills. A master mechanic. The videos are entertaining to watch. You just don't work on cars but all kinds of vehicles. I been watching for almost 2 years. And not disappointed at all.
If MIT had a Shop Class called Reverse Obsolesence 101: Good Schematics,+ Honest Diagnostics + The great Work ethic & curiosity to see problems to solutions. AKA Repair almost anything. Chris would be guy to teach it. I would really like to see channel do custom EV conversions, get that home & barn shop land on something affordable but spacious, get a water table and/or 3d printer for custom parts for made in USA. That said, when you gonna do a barge or car ferry boat? A Sailboat that takes show international? I wonder what barn/lighthouse finds you might find off Greenland, Canada, or especially Cuba. Because of the former embargo Cubans took to maintenance and restoration of mechanical constructs to an art form. They got Taxis from the 40s and 50s still running a 12hr work day. Would be funny to see NNKH team seeing cars or even engines of classic infrastrucure, in awe, of their still running and some even in pristine condition. A "how the #%$@ is this thing still going" regular piece where commentors can suggest sites. NNKH goes and checks it out, stays politely glib, viewers can posit theories in comments and then youtube famous engineers and scientists do cameos and offer most probable explanations. I have no idea who could afford to pay for all that. But I would watch it. I get it if yall stay local 😊like a garage band though. Too many soups, cooks, chiefs, and all that. Great videos. (:
Man Frank is the kinda guy I would love to sit down with and just get to know, lot of knowledge to be handed down. Such a great place to be fixed up, and grow a family/buisness in.
Because of injury and just life I don't get out very much. Watching your videos is like hanging out with a buddy. I really appreciate getting to see some of the daily life along with the restorations. Plus I always seem to pick up something from your know-how. 🙂 I hope you and Jen get to keep doing this for as long as you want. Thanks for sharing!
I’m with you on that. 3 broken disks keeps me from doing all the things I used to. This may be as close as I get to a tough project. It’s emotional to think about it too long. Blessings to everyone out there.
I know what you mean. I use to have z small autobody n paint shop and did a lot of RV n boat fiberglass repair I lost most my vision so havent been able to work on anything no more. I do like watching theses guys get stuff going. Bitter / Sweet
Well the boat motor actually runs!! I thought that it might be full of water , locked up and cracked! Looking forward to part 2! Thanks Chris and Jen 👍
My favorite part of this video, was you riding the Horse! It's weird, but I felt like I was right there with you...remembering old times and loving it! All of your vids are great, educational and feel good. Thanks, Follow your Excitement 😊
Love your methodical approach and the ability to not get rattled when you hit the show-stoppers. Adapt, improvise, overcome; and get the target result. The way you verbalize your thought process makes it really watchable. Kudos.
Damn, Chris, you can fix boats, trucks, cars, heavy equipment, household plumbing and wiring, and goodness knows what else. You are a true Renaissance Man. A lot of guys had those skills back in the '50's and 60's when I was growing up, but sadly it's almost a lost art today. Absolutely love your channel, so please keep it up. Oh, and Jen ain't shabby when it comes to talent either! ;-)
Hey Chris... I'm not a huge boat knowledge kinda guy but my first thought was Bayliner..lol.. I do like the cuddy cabins,, for obvious reasons.. nice little cruisers with the family. Then @1:47 mark, I saw the color scheme (red, blue and black) and I instantly thought of the Wellcraft colors.. never heard of Raven.. but like I said, I'm no pro.. lol.. but back to the video.. CHEERS!!
Chris, I have an '89 chris craft cavalier with the EXACT same drive combo / 3.0 merc and alpha one drive. It's an amazing setup for cruising around the lake, bulletproof, and great on gas. Bought my boat sitting for 4 years and basically gave it the same work you did- mine needed a new ignition setup, anti siphon valve, fuel pump, carb, water pump impeller, starter, and other small odds and ends. These motors are a dream to work on and the block originated from a 60s GM design. If you ever struggle getting the lower unit installed, inspect the condition of the copper water pickup tube and housing. They can become swollen or melted from previous overheating and not let the lower unit seal back together. Can be an absolute nightmare, took me like a week to figure out. You accomplished the same amount of work I did in about 10x faster... LOL. It was my first time working with points so great learning curve. Enjoy that boat!
Man I remember watching at 75K subscribers. Loved the videos then and love them now, especially the boat/jetski/water bike/random nautical activity videos. Can’t wait to see this one get worked on and it’ll be cool to see Jen work on it too with her new channel. Was really happy to see a boat video this morning!
You were nice to Frank, helping him out to sell his stuff. You have a huge heart Chris & you are an Ace Mechanic. I hope life treats you well into the future. Yourself,Jen,Turbo & Gus make an awesome Quartet. I'd buy your merch but i live in London UK,so postage would mean a remortgage of my house. Thanks for all of your Infotainment videos. I can imagine Jen pulling funny faces when she starts remodelling that tiny boat cabin .
I cannot wait to see more of this. I have a 19ft open bow and information on how to go through it and make sure everything is good isn't easy to find. I look forward to the next video on this. Thank you!
Chris and Jen, I have to say it is a total pleasure watching 2 people who love life, and each other. I enjoy learning from you and see the life I could have had without the hiccups I had decades ago. I rebuild a bayliner much like your trashliner, it had a Volvo Penta engine and outdrive with a rotted out interior, it was a fun project and expanded my marine knowledge, became a marine mechanic, well was certified but never went down that road. Your jeep reminds me of my favorite car I had, a 1965 Buick skylark, 4 door, rusted out floors, and trunk, and a weak suspension, I was working for an electrician at the time and bottomed out the car so many times I put a hole in the gas tank, repaired and kept another year, fast, light and fun to drive. Anyhow, rebuilt a few Honda motorcycles. Watching you guys brings back memories. Keep smiling and keep going, Jen you have a beautiful voice and a personality any good man would love to have by his side. Sorry for the long email. Gus, Leo and Turbo along with the chicks are the hoot. Jim
Another great one. “Oil is only about 5” too high.” Ha!!! She’s going to be tons of fun out on the river. Having previously lived in the area I really enjoy the shots of 295, Trenton, and NJ.
Chris, this was the first video of yours i watched. You would be an excellent teacher. I know this will not be the last of your videos i will be watching. Excellent work. Thanks...i learned a few things.
Hello Chris, Jen and Gusman from Sydney Australia. Very nice fiberglass boat, it's fantastic watching you diagnose, test and change parts. I assume you Google search the engine specs and exploded diagrams for ordering parts? Thanks for the work in making this channel. 🌏🇭🇲
Look forward to part 2! Will be interesting to see what Jen does with the interior as well. Looks like some new plywood might be needed on those seats, and a new hatch. Boat needs some love, and it should be a good looking runner!
As a little boy my Dad was very Handy withCars and he showed me the Points Trick with a Matchbook he told me always keep one in your glove box the Striker strip can be used to Sand or file the contacts , the thickness of the Cover should be good enough to set the gap as a thickness guage or Feeler and most of the time that will get the Vehicle running well enough to get you home or to a place you could do a higher quality repair i drove a older MGB with Points for 14 years and several Aircooled VWs and i did use that “trick “ a few times my MG i converted to ElectroniccIgnition eventually as Allison made a simple Conversion Kit for the Stock Distributor set up
Awesome job cleaning up the boat and getting it running...always amazed at your automotive skills at diagnosing and repairs. Just another fun filled day of content. Appreciate you sharing your days with us.😊🛠️🇺🇸🔧🛻🛥️
Thanks for bringing us along. I thought for sure that motor was seized and with a cracked block when I saw the streaks and the water come out of the block. Looking forward to seeing this on the river. Also, when you were heading back with the tow truck I thought you were going to bring home franks old chevy pickup...
I could watch this for hours. In fact I have 😂. Always great content. Love the boat and random toy fixes. The knowledge you have have is incredible! Don’t change a thing!
& "it's a good thing" , we've lost so many gems to the junkyard simply for lack of maintenance and no nonsense know how. I'm just on the other side of the Delaware River & my high school metal shop had a forge, we learned welding and the whole shebang("that's what she said"). I still remember my woodshop teacher saying; , "you know, we're not tryin' to prove wood floats". , when he saw me using too much glue. That's the kind of learning needed, not commie rat basket case neuter rooting. "What is these Reds I keep hearing about?" Tom Joad in; _-The Grapes of Wrath
Great video as usual! A pump-up yard sprayer works great for the gear oil. That vent hose on the fuel pump is for safety- it directs the raw fuel into the carb in the event of a diaphragm failure.
Can't wait to see her out on the water... and especially after Jen does her thing on the interior, and she gets all cleaned up and put back together. Man I love a good boat! I'd say this ole' girl is really under-powered... but I like a little HP with my boats, and I know Chris & Jen don't care. Like he said.. this one isn't about straight out speed. It's a cruiser, with a nice little cuddie on it. I suppose the 4 cylinder will do, and they can have some serious river fun with it! Can't wait to see it on the river this summer!
I knew when you stuck the lower unit in the soft ground to change impeller that it was NOT your first time!!! That was always my go to move when I did mobile repair!
love the channel another easy way to install the impeller is to put the impeller in place and put grease on it, then push the housing straight down and spin (the propper direktion) the drive shaft or propeller when in gear and the blades on the impeller will fix it self.
Chris, Just sat down to watch this baby, and I really can't wait! Your boat videos never ever disappoint me!!! From the trash liner to the bass dumpster, now this gem!!! Ohhhh boy I love it very much!!! Frank is a good guy! Sucks he busted his ass falling off that boat but it just shows you, it's extremely easy to hurt yourself and have things never be the same. Time to watch this video!!! 👍👍😎
Great video, the old boat rescues are fun. I've always liked messing around with older boats. They're easier to find than older cars. Don't get me wrong, the old car rescues are great as well. Thanks.
Very cool video Chris!! I've never owned a boat because I've always heard a friends boat is the best boat...haha but mainly because I've heard they are a pain to work on but you make it look so easy!! Thank you again for taking the time to explain and go into detail on things. Looking forward to seeing the progress! Darren in TX
Great video this week Chris thanks man.. that 3.0 in the boat is just a little powerhouse and will last forever if you take care of it. I've worked on SO many of them, they're GREAT even if they wear out rings, man, just replace them and keep it moving. Good Chevy powerhouses. Thanks for the tour of the cool garage/ in-law suite too, what a cool place that was!
Glad I came across your channel, I got a 1977 glastron that I was about to tap out on but you gave me inspiration/motivation to stay on it! Wish you were my neighbor😊 great content bro, lots of wisdom, truly blessed! ✌🏼
Hi Chris, enjoyed that! Love a boat, quite complex! Here in the UK majority of cars have a 4 banger, and less than 3.0! Tyre change looked like you knew what you were doing! 😅. Cheers, Martin.
Also just wanted to add, great watch! Very satisfying watching these old engines come back to life. And u enjoy it, fixing up these old girls. Very very cool to see
Love your video reminds me when I had same engine in my boat in the 90's doing all that work on it now I'm 79 brings back so many memories thanks for great video and stay safe my friend
Sometimes algae builds up in the check ball on the fuel sending unit. You can take them apart and clean them up and it usually fixes the issue of no flow from the tank . And I have a Volvo Penta v6 and omc out drive in a 1996 20 foot Sea Arrow. It's a center console setup. Pretty rare not many around the model is a V 200, and you are right about the impeller pump being easier to deal with. I love that boat it's definitely worth saving. People knock on inboard/outboards but I love mine. Yeah they take a bit more work to maintain but I really like the rear space and the torque of the inboard. Mine is a Volvo Penta v6 4.3 but it's been rebuilt with higher compression and a bigger cam and has a 4 BBL Holley carburetor on it . I have some videos up on my UA-cam.
From swamp boats Caterpillar tractors quads snowmobiles That's why I love your channel so much Chris you do it all Have no doubt you'll get it ship shape
Harbor freight has traction tape for your ladder platform. 3M #2 or 3 has a great buffing compound that should bring a good shine back to the paint. Thanks again brother👍👍
Sorry... didn't mean to post as my channel. Loved it! been outside all day today wet sanding my boat and cleaning space for the work shop. Looking forward to seeing the next one! I want stickers but in the UK. Happy to pay but unsure how it might work.
Quite a find Chris! Jen has her work cut out for her (and I bet Gus finds some "treasures"). The check valve in the fuel pick-up is an anti-siphon valve, required by USCG/NMMA. Stops fuel flow in case of a break in line between tank and engine. Crack on hull bottom is a concern! Given the motor mount being rotted, hull structure could be rotted. Foam could be soaked, too. (a la Bayliner) Fuel tank was lose? I believe Raven Boats was in business 2 years, 1989-1990. I am a marine industry engineer, lmk questions. A past Ford Elite owner and a multi-time dacshy owner, I really enjoy the content. (Ever find a Chrysler Funster for sale post it!)
Wow, where has this channel been in my algorythm? Not sure if I spelled that guy right. This video in particular was invaluable to me. It's one thing to look at a manual, & a handful of poorly made videos, but a Whole different program when I see a guy doing things as I would. I have a '75 Cruisers. Cuddy like your's, pretty neat. Same age as me, right to the month, haha. Well sir, it has that Gen I drive on it. But mine's the old 351/233 hp. Shouldn't cost a small fortune at all to run. And frankly, I should have my head examined for buying. Hey, thank you. Looking forward to more videos!
You remind me of myself ,saving good hose clamps and being excited about it! My wife hated ZIP ties when she met me , I got 100s from a friend , and now she knows that they are a necessity!
I’m literally watching an old video while I get alerted on a new video haha. We need more exploration videos. I binge watched for hours yesterday. Cool videos for sure. I do like the car stuff better but the explorer videos are super cool.
I just lived down a river from you across from new hope in Lambertville. I really like your show. I like how you do your own work. That's just like me. I don't take my vehicles anywhere to get any work done on. Them, I do it anybody else. Every time I take it to somebody else, they f*** it up. Also i'm in the market for a junkie boat this summer so Ill Keep watching and see if you have anything hope so.
You did a great job but were totally wrong at 55:55 regarding the water coming out of the exhaust bellows. The water cools the exhaust and exits in the prop's hub. Right now you are blowing exhaust into the path of the propeller causing cavitation. The exhaust at idle will come up and ☠ you. I think you got everything else right. One other thing. That split in the hull will let water in and the foam will soak it up. It will never dry up. The weight of the boat will increase a lot. The engine will never reach it's full potential. I'm going to say they added a Whale Tail because they couldn't get the boat to plane. Take the boat to a scale and get it weighed. Rip out the entire deck and install a new one. Fix the hull from the inside when the deck is removed. Those seats are common seats and inexpensive. Stainless steel threaded inserts can be installed in the deck so the seats can easily be removed. Install a bilge pump. At 8:52 you called those Anchor Lights "all around lights". Those lights are to only be illuminated while anchored never when drifting or running. I love that boat. Fire extinguisher's gauges always get stuck in the green position even if the air leaks out. Ok I like how you lined up the valve stems with the dot on the tire. I like the light on the engine cover that lights up the floor. I don't like the rollers on the trailer. I like the engine size. You will save gas. I suggest running the engine at full but don't let it exceed 2000 RPM for very long. Adjust the RPM at full throttle by changing the prop's pitch. Now run the boat wide open and note your max speed. You should have Max Speed @ 2000 RPM. This will change depending on the lakes altitude because the water might be lighter and the prop won't grab the same. It's always good to have a spare prop, best to have a different pitch just incase.
Wow this was a great watch, never had a boat, but done loads of sea fishing, your knowledge is fantastic 👍👍,it shows that maintenance is the key to anything that is mechanical, regards pete.
SO.. What was the noise in the transmission, then?! Yet again a faultless video and a lovely boat for the summer 🌞. I don't know how you get the perfect item at the right time and price! Unbelievable! 👍 Looks like it's time to get your rods dusted off, then back to the lake you found found @ just the right time!!! Talk about lucky!
Good stuff getting the boat going. The starter sounds dry maybe and theres stuff going on with the engine. Having said that you done real good so far and look forward to seeing a result.
Dude! Frank’s place would be perfect for you. This is fast becoming my favorite channel for too many reasons to note. You are well on your way to a million plus subs. SAS envelope on the way for the stickers and maybe a little something for a 🍺. Cheers!
I like the versatility you have in your mechanical skills. A master mechanic. The videos are entertaining to watch. You just don't work on cars but all kinds of vehicles. I been watching for almost 2 years. And not disappointed at all.
He's the kinda guy you really want on your side during the zombie apocalypse, that's for sure XD

Next up, lets see if we can get this old helicopter going.
Man Frank is the kinda guy I would love to sit down with and just get to know, lot of knowledge to be handed down. Such a great place to be fixed up, and grow a family/buisness in.
Im glad that Frank is at least upright and mobile. He could easily have ended up in a wheelchair for life.
Frank's place looked like it would be perfect for you and Jen and lots of room for the critters.
I thought the exact same thing! That place would be perfect!
I just commented that and then seen your comment!
And. Why not call the boat " Frank "..?
Thanks! Great Videos keep up the good work.
Thanks so much Joseph!

As someone who recently bought a boat, I love these videos. That way, I can learn how to fix my boat myself!
I mean if you dig into the steering on this boat in the next video I would like that lol.
I hope you don't have kids. You know what the 2 best days of boat ownership are?
Chris, this was the first video of yours i watched. You would be an excellent teacher. I know this will not be the last of your videos i will be watching. Excellent work. Thanks...i learned a few things.

Frank is a good guy! Sucks he busted his ass falling off that boat but it just shows you, it's extremely easy to hurt yourself and have things never be the same. Time to watch this video!!! 👍👍😎
That boat is going to be really nice when you're done with it! I'm so glad the block wasn't cracked and it ran!
1:56 Poor Frank, I feel bad for him having his back broken when attempting to restore the boat all because of that flooring/seat mount being broken.
Great video, the old boat rescues are fun. I've always liked messing around with older boats. They're easier to find than older cars. Don't get me wrong, the old car rescues are great as well. Thanks.
The generalized knowledge you have for machines is unreal
Go build a few projects or do something productive and you will learn too
That was a wild tour of Frank’s place. Hidden bath fixtures priceless.
Never want these videos to end. Thanks for the great work! 💯
The best videos by far. I like the way you treat your woman and your dog. I hope Jen comes out with an album....I’d buy!!!!
I love this channel. this is a guy you can learn stuff from! love it! Greetings from Musselkanaal The Netherlands (off all places)
That's gonna be some nice boat Chris, and Franks property looks awesome! Thanks for showing us around.
Oh man, i love this time a year. You are really the only channel that does this type of content. Love it.
Glad you are doing this. My father started Raven Boatworks in the late 80s.
Amazing video Chris love watching the longer ones ! Watching all the way from Plymouth England !
From someone who has trouble just changing oil, I so respect your knowledge on everything you do. Thanx for sharing.
Always enjoy when you bring these heaps back to life. I found your channel when you were rebuilding the Trashliner.
That was a cool project. I enjoy watching the way you go thru each step to get things back working 👌
It never ceases to amaze me all the spare parts you have. I wish so badly I had half of it
I have reported a telegram scam on my comment. Their comment disappeared directly after. Do not fall for these scams people
Glad I came across your channel, I got a 1977 glastron that I was about to tap out on but you gave me inspiration/motivation to stay on it! Wish you were my neighbor😊 great content bro, lots of wisdom, truly blessed! ✌🏼
Lookin forward to see this series and what you guys do to it 😊
Hi Chris, enjoyed that! Love a boat, quite complex!
Here in the UK majority of cars have a 4 banger, and less than 3.0!
Tyre change looked like you knew what you were doing! 😅.
Cheers, Martin.
It doesn't matter what you are working on, you make it interesting.
Also just wanted to add, great watch! Very satisfying watching these old engines come back to life. And u enjoy it, fixing up these old girls. Very very cool to see
I like all your videos, but I especially enjoy the boat content. Looking forward to some videos of this one on the water this summer.
Agree!
Love your video reminds me when I had same engine in my boat in the 90's doing all that work on it now I'm 79 brings back so many memories thanks for great video and stay safe my friend
Always enjoy seeing a new video has been uploaded
Great video as always much respect for the skills you have
From swamp boats Caterpillar tractors quads snowmobiles That's why I love your channel so much Chris you do it all Have no doubt you'll get it ship shape
Dude your boat videos are epic! Makes me want to get an old boat ⛵🚢
River Ripper99
Harbor freight has traction tape for your ladder platform. 3M #2 or 3 has a great buffing compound that should bring a good shine back to the paint. Thanks again brother👍👍
Hells yes, another NNKH will it run! My day is now complete.
Sorry... didn't mean to post as my channel. Loved it! been outside all day today wet sanding my boat and cleaning space for the work shop.
Looking forward to seeing the next one!
I want stickers but in the UK. Happy to pay but unsure how it might work.
best part of the week is watching one of your videos
I have a Raven Pontoon. Quality boats made in Michigan.
48:50 man what a house / workshop. This would be a youtuber's paradise to sort out / fix up and make lots of content out of it
It was impossible not to spin the prop with the pressure washer
100 percent
Love seeing the whole crew, Jen, Gus and Turbo! Great video!!
My favorite piece that you have is the "Submarine." I'd love to get a boat some day. Looks good!
you know he was hoping those leaves would be gone when he got home
You remind me of myself ,saving good hose clamps and being excited about it! My wife hated ZIP ties when she met me , I got 100s from a friend , and now she knows that they are a necessity!
I’m literally watching an old video while I get alerted on a new video haha. We need more exploration videos. I binge watched for hours yesterday. Cool videos for sure. I do like the car stuff better but the explorer videos are super cool.
I actually found Chris’s channel a few years while back looking for some power plant urbex videos.
The way you work on it, shows you know all about it. Good luck Buddy, wish you the best on your project!
That place seemed definately haunted for some reason🤔
I totally want to see this thing come back.
I’m blown away, you bri g back things I would consider long dead. Wow. Well done.
Way better than vice grip garage
No way
Hold your tongulator there brother
I just lived down a river from you across from new hope in Lambertville. I really like your show. I like how you do your own work. That's just like me. I don't take my vehicles anywhere to get any work done on. Them, I do it anybody else. Every time I take it to somebody else, they f*** it up. Also i'm in the market for a junkie boat this summer so Ill Keep watching and see if you have anything hope so.
I think you should buy it, and move out to the country
I suffer from anxiety and depression and I can honestly say your channel never fails to make me smile. Thank you 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You did a great job but were totally wrong at 55:55 regarding the water coming out of the exhaust bellows.
For as young as you are you have a very good disposition. You have not complained once. 👍 will definitely subscribe and watch.
I’d think you’d like Franks place! Lots of room for your day job and for Gus to roam. And for Jen too!!
Wow, can't to see you Jenn and Gus cruising the local lakes! Thanks for taking us along.
Cheers!
