    It also has to do with hair texture, too Afro texture hair types can tolerate heavy oils. It's in our hair routines for years. That's why hair companies formulate the oil with sophisticated cones to make it lighter for other hair types. I have Afro-textured hair and I prefer the pure carrier oils.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  Місяць тому +12

      Oh definitely! I touch on this towards the end of the video-not every hair type needs the same type/amount of "lightening up" ingredients, and some won't need any at all :) It's all about knowing what your hair loves and how to serve it up ❤️

    • @crepusco9821

      Some Afro textures need different types of oil too, for thinner hair light oils work best

    i've been making my own hair oil formula for a few years now, it was mostly for nourishing and "feeding" the hair, BUT for styling, it didn't really give me the most desirable results, that was until earlier this year when i started adding one new ingredient: Shea Butter! which gave me hair cream instead of hair oil, which is actually better for curly hair such as mine, it won't weight down the hair, i have a "jewfro" and ever since i started adding shea butter to the formula, the volume and thickness i had when i was younger came back! not to mention, it won't leave an "oil puddle" on my pillow/gym equipment/shower floor anymore!

      which oils you use depends on your needs. it's a long list. i've thought about making a video about it to share the recipe. there are other videos on youtube and most of them coincide on which oils are best. but here's some. for carrier base, the recommended ones are usually argan, castor and olive. for essential oils, ratios depend on personal need/preference, but the usual ones are rosemary for growth, cedarwood for strength, peppermint for circulation. this is not my whole formula and ratios but i might make a video like i said, even though i'm not a "youtuber" i just used to upload random personal things ever since youtube was a novelty

      @HumblebeeAndMe  Місяць тому +15

      Ooh body butter-how indulgent! I wish my hair was ok with that level of richness, but alas, it is not 😅 If your hair likes butters you're probably going to be more in formulation 2 territory, possibly with even more true oils and less lightening up ingredients. Happy making!

    You've done amazing job here! 🎉❤ I replaced NaturaTEC Plantsil (PR gift but I run out) succesfully with isoamyl laurate and a blend of coco-caprylate and isoamyl laurate (my favourite, 20 % & 80 % blend in second formulation). I haven't decided the scent yet. I enjoy Plantsil in haircare and I'm happy that Alexmo Cosmetics carries it...perhaps I'll give it a go later! Also, I modified your first formulation and used IPM and fractionated coconut oil along with clean cotton FO & bulgarian lavender EO. My slightly porous type 2 hair enjoys it. It seems to work well for my friend's type 3 frizzy hair. However I'd love to try something a bit lighter as well so if anyone can suggest me isododecane or cyclomethicone in EU, I'd highly appreciate it! Thanks so much for these formulations.

    I"ve been using argan oil on my hair for years... I use it instead of conditioner... it's never made my hair greasy and heavy. I only need three drops for my long hair, and I always massage the drops well into my hands before carefully spreading in evenly through my hair. If you got a bad result from using argan oil, you probably used way too much or didn"t spread it evenly enough through your hair. Or you have oily hair that doesn't need hair oils. Argan oil alone is perfectly fine for getting great shiny results, removing static and steering clear of synthetic conditioners that often contain plastic.

    • @Tk-iz2ws
      @Tk-iz2ws 2 дні тому

      You do NOT have the hair you had bleached. It has either been cut or fallen out. What you are putting INTO your body is causing the issues. Eat olive oil & or coconut oil.
      Use them as lotions. Your hair issues will disappear. 😮

    I know silicones makes your hair look and feel good, but they are actually suspected of being hormone-disrupting. I don't know if they are in the US but they are in Denmark and other countries, which have really high standards and restrictions.

      @@debbiemiller9762 You would still be rubbing the product in your palms before applying it. But I don't know if the silicone transports from the hair to the scalp. The amount and risk is probably small, if you only use 1 or 2 products with questionable ingredients. But if you have many products in your line of skin care, hair care, makeup, cleaning etc., containing several harmful ingredients a cocktail effect happens. And the we have a problem.

      If those links aren't for suppliers in your country, I also have a giant page of places to shop all over the world, which you can find here: www.humblebeeandme.com/resources/. It doesn't have every country in the world, but it does contain all the online stores I know about. If your country isn't listed, that's because I don't know about any online stores in your country. It would be nice if they stopped using silicone(s), period, because it's such an awful allergen. Commercial products should also be mandated by law to disclose that silicone is an allergen. People know almond is an allergen (at least most people know) - but how many people know the reason they get a rash every time they shower could be because silicone is an ingredient in their hair products?
