I applied baking soda and water mixture and left it overnight. The next day, used vinegar and scrubbed with steel wool. Very effective. 10 years of grime gone and my oven glass door looking like new.
Thank you for the input.
I’m so happy I found your video this is my chore for today and you just save me a lot of time and unnecessary work thanks a million 👍🏾
Thank You
Thank you for showing the different methods. And also your tip for removing the scraping with paper. I learned a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, Mr Man, with the nice deep voice, This Really did work I can now see what i am baking cooking etc.. xx
Thank You.
Awesome, thanks! worked like a charm.
Thank You.
Thank you this really helped me out! I thought I would never get my oven clean.
Any time.
Thanks for the scraper tip
You welcome.
simply brilliant :)
Thank You.
Thanks for the brilliant post
you welcome.
Perfect!!!
Thank You.
Wow that ….scrapper did a great job hahahaha
Amazing. Thanks for walking us through it. I will do this to mine tomorrow. I’ll try to leave it 24 hours if my cat will leave it alone.
Any time.
The screws you see on the 4 sides you have to unscrew them to get to the glass. It’s 2 panes of glass and the grease somehow gets between them. That’s the only way to get all the grease marks out.
There is no grease between the the glasses because I already cleaned the grease between the glasses in the following video:
ua-cam.com/video/mRa7VCivtHA/v-deo.html
Is scratching of the glass a concern with the scraper method. A couple of years ago, I
put some back scratches on mine using, I think, one of those metallic scrubbies.
Big mistake!
I'm embarrassed that my oven glass door got this dirty. I tried each step and the razor blade worked! Thank you for going that extra step.
Any time.
@@josephk9182 One more question. I need to clean between the glass. Be honest - is it easy to remove the Oven door or am I better off finding a handyman. I don’t have a lot of home improvement expertise.
It is very easy. Please look at the end of my video:
ua-cam.com/video/mRa7VCivtHA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=JosephK
and see how I am reinstalling the oven door and put back the hinge lock. Also search on UA-cam for How To: Remove and Reinstall Oven Door
For example look at this video:

Hope it help.
I used lacquer thinner because it's the best degreaser. Then I wash the glass with simple green and rinse well. Perfection!!!!
Thank for the info.
What is lacquer thinner? Thank you!
Plastic scraper. I've been cleaning my ovens like this for decades. So, yeah. Great video it does take elbow grease and patience but no toxic fumes. No degreaser needed use a plastic scraper they are the bomb for every cleaning chore around the house I have 5 of them and two are always cruddy at one time. See Home Depot for red plastic scraper.
Thanks for your input. I will try to use plastic scraper next time. I was under the impression that a plastic scraper would not work for the burnt oil.
@@josephk9182 Hi Joseph, as long as the baking soda is made into a gooey paste and let to sit overnight then the elbow grease and the scraper work miracles. Try it next time on one of your properties. The key is to let it get all gooey and then let it sit overnight. I've done some pretty disgusting cleaning for people as I am a clean freak. Love your videos, much respect to you. You are an incredibly hard working person.
I will defiantly try it. The only issue is waiting 24 hours until the backing soda is taking effect.
Simple Green is also great stuff. I used to sell it when I sold machine tools. I sold everything related to industry. Dawn dish washing liquid works great. A small amount of Dawn goes a long way. I use the baking soda so there is no residual chemicals of any sort. I don't even like using Dawn on my oven but I have. I don't like having a film on my oven. Nice job. You really have patience.
I buy a small bottle of concentrated Dawn at Dollar Tree and use it only as a last resort for stubborn grease. Otherwise I have a mild dish washing liquid not made from petroleum.
Hmm, if he thinks that was dirty, I better buy a new bit of glass for my oven!
😂😂
He better buy new glasses
HVALA!!!!!
Thank You.
I just did mine which looked about the same as his. I just used glass stove top cleaner and a scraper. Done in minutes, just wipe it down when done.
Thank you for the info.
Thank you! I used my stove stop cleaner (bartenders keep) and the scrubby side of the sponge and it worked perfectly!
The "before" in this clip looks like where I'm hoping to end up with my door. We shall see.
Dirty...🤣 Is he joking?? That is CLEAN!!!!
When you added the vinegar all it did is react to the baking soda nothing else. So that dose not clean a thing when you added it.
Baking soda is chemically sodium bicarbonate and, vinegar is acetic acid. The basic nature of sodium bicarbonate reacts with the acidic counterpart that is acetic acid. The result is a neutralization reaction. Like other neutralization reactions, this also produces carbon dioxide and water.
Thanks a lot for the info
Instead of scraoer I used the classic shaving blade I carefuly held between my fingers. Done in 3 minutes.
You can but easy with scraper.
Sounds like Inspector Clusoe
Yes you right.
But how do we clean I side the glass door?
I also clean the inside glass before but did not show it in this video. You will need to remove the door's screws and then remove the glass. You should record each step (with camaca if possible) that you can build the oven door again.
Ok I was planning to take the door apart to do it. Just wanted to make sure I could take it spart even on a self clean oven. Thanks
@@donnathompsonlegare The glass is sharp and fragile. Be careful when you remove it and carefully record each step that you can rebuild the oven door properly.
@@donnathompsonlegare I found the video of how to open the oven door. here

Thanks. We have already taken apart a few glass oven doors in the past. But yes, step by step photos will be wise.
Vinegar cancels out baking soda. You are creating salt water.
With vinegar and baking soda I cleaned very tough oil poured on carpet. After that I used washing up liquid as a soap.Is very good against grease.
