@@melissagriffin7515 yes, and both with tights or bare legs. Seems like she sees it as like if you want to show legs with midis, you wear low vamp shoes or sandals, if I got it. But that's just a way to see the style :).
The irony is the first two don't outfits looked way better and stylish than their corresponding do outfits. Nothing wrong with having a gap between hem of skirt and the boot at all.
I have really long legs, and don't think anything could make them "look short", as she described it. I always wear heavy boots with my mid length skirts.
That is absolutely not true!!! The fact that everyone fits into the "don't" category and we see those looks everywhere on the streets makes people believe that is the right way when in reality it is not. The gap between boots and skirt is totally aesthetically unpleasant.
I personally think the first look is cute! The tall fitted boots look uncomfortable. I don’t care how fashionable a look is - if I’m uncomfortable, I don’t look good in it. If you’re worried about cutting off your vertical line, wear darker tights.
Tights look great with boots! I know you shook your head "no" on several of these, but frankly, every piece you showed looked great. You are an artist with clothing!

@@aeriz85 yes they do. Style changes all the time and the long boots are just something that’s trendy- not a timeless look at all. Like literally go look through fashion history for yourself and come back again with how it’s everyone else, not you, who don’t know how to dress 😂😂😂
What about us whose calves can't fit into boots (knee- or thigh-high) and we're left with only ankle boots to wear? I love Lydia, but this video is completely disregarding the fact that we're all different shapes and body sizes. P.s. Weight has nothing to do with calf size.
No I genuinely wouldn’t follow this advice either except maybe the last one , different body shapes & shape of the boots (if they’re pointy or rounded) will drastically alter these choices either way.
I literally have thicker legs and none of these longer boots fit me 😢 So yeah, I'm still being a fashion criminal and having that gap between skirt and my short boots 🤷🏼♀️
I just have one request/suggestion. Can we please for the love of Jesus stop wearing shades for these videos? It looks good with them on, it looks great in fact! But we don’t walk around in the office all day wearing them and so it’s overselling an outfit that in real life will not look like that. Please 😩
I usually love the vids but I found the first boots cute if they were more fitted and not sloppy, and the second pair made me feel like it was a witch costume 🤐
One of the reason the first do outfit doesn’t look better than the don’t is they’re different shades of black. The high boot doesn’t flow well with the skirt because of differing texture and shade. Maybe choose shades of black and texture that go better together. Your choices honestly don’t
Don’t know if I agree with all these rules! It’s a new day baby. Do what feels right to you, we all shouldn’t cookie cut, but infact innovate. Don’t follow, inspire. 🐑 🐑 🐑 🐺
I do love your styling tips anyhow as a short girl with wide upper legs it’s very hard to accomplish this esthetic. Can you please make a video about it. I am sure I am not the only one struggling. Thank you in advance ❤
I love the combination of a short black dress with over the knee black ribbed wool socks and shorter Boots (Chelsea Boot Lenght). This gives the illusion of over the knee boots. Maybe it can also work for you.
Side note: If you're a Flamboyant Gamine, ignore all of this lol. You actually WANT to "break up" the outfit & wear contrasting colors. Wearing all one color makes FGs look pulled down to the floor & shorter. Breaking up your lines will be more harmonious with your vertical & petite.
First recommendation is ok in theory but needs a sleeker silhouette than the outfit you put together. The oversize sweater + wide skirt NEED a "break" in the outfit so you aren't just a blob. With the taller boots, your proportions got screwed up, made you head look huge and made you look shorter overall. Same with the second one. Your tall boots didn't actually match your tights. The tights might be labelled "black" but they LOOK brown. The short boots at least matched your shirt, the tall boots looked like you got dressed in the dark.
Thank you for the video! I love wearing skirts in winter and wear them much more now than in summer. It is just easier to me to layer for Norwegian winter with a skirt than with a lot of trousers. Now I really want to find myself a pair of tall boots in a colour that isn’t black.
I didn't find a single pair of these boots attractive...I love boots. But these aren't it. I'm not sure what's off for me. Shape? Bigger sole?, wrinkes? I just don't like any of them.
Personally I like the don'ts . I would wear those as ut is easier and comfortable. What she recommends is more like something a model would wear but not really something that you would wear for 8 hours in the office. Especially the high boots. After 8 hours I want to trow them out the window. And driving in them.. The look is one thing, particality is something else
Either way i hate those chunky boots with the maxi skirt personally. They looked bottom heavy to me. But like multiple people have said, wear what you want. Theres literally no rules to this stuff even if some influencer makes up pretend ones.
The second "do" pairing looked pretty outdated. The boots really depend on the silhouette of what's in style. If the tall boots were a bit more on the slouchy side with a block heel, it would be more timeless.
the first outfit looks great! why do we have to treat everything mathematically, that there are some sections yadda yadda? just wear what looks good and don't overanalyze
I have never liked the look of short boots with skirts unless the boot stops at the ankle bone and is worn with heavy denier tights of the same colour. They look even worse when worn bare legged with a maxi skirt with a long split at the back. It just looks wrong, as if the skirts seam has split.
The 'donts' look less polished, but they were all cute. For the most part each outift looks like someone put care and effort into their styling. If I saw someone wearing one on the street, I would still think they look put together, especially if they had the attitude to complement it.
Since I have a high body temperature and live in an area with very mild weather (spanish mediterranean seaside city)... I do not wear boots at all. My winter shoes are litterally "manoletinas" or any shoe with covered toes like maryjane's or "mocasines"/slipons. No boots thanks! (My toes might get roasted) My work posture is sitting down with my legs opened toward my patient.... no skirts either 🤣🤣🤣
If you want to wear the shorter boots wear tights that are as dark(opaque) as the boots. You get a similar affect as the long boots
Nice tip!! I got sad because I only have a pair of combat boots and I only wear mini skirts
this is what I do, since tall boots never fit me lol

A coat the same length as the skirt/dress or a shorter jacket.
Fleece leggings 👌🏻

I wear booties with all skirt lengths, I am leggy and it looks great.
I'm not "leggy" I have long legs...a long with long everything else... I'm just tall 🙃🤧
That second "bad" outfit was so cute! The "correct" version of the outfit was giving Pretty Woman 😅
I don't understand half tucking of shirts. Sometimes it works depending but most of the time no. Most of the time it looks sloppy

i have the same problem. I would wear a knee length black sock to go with a black loafer to get an "illusion" of knee-high boot from afar.

So basically wear knee length boots

Yeah I don't think there are any do's or dont's with fashion it's all what the person likes and suits different body types and heights.
the Title words of the vid cover up the boots and i can't really see.....
Long boots that go above the hemline always ick me out, even if it's an ankle boot thats slightly too high I just can't do it
I get the points symmetrically and all. Think every fit looked better before.
These are too many rules. It depends on what looks good and aesthetic choices on different bodies.
