I really like your emphasis on simple, minimal silhouettes and details. As a much older woman, at 59 years I am finding that simple, architectural and bold contemporary cuts in good fabric is the way to go, including jewellery. I still have pieces from the era of 90s minimalism, and they're looking very current in my wardrobe. All I'm needing to buy is to update a few accessories. I appreciate your links and ideas for places I don't usually shop in.
I love your style and started revamping my closet. I’ve purchased a few of your selections and I love them. I’m 67 years along and have been told lately that I’m looking quite chic so thanks!
Be mindful that if your skin is darker, then you can easily rock the brighter colours and look fantastic. Likewise, if you're tall and slim you might want more dramatic styles, and some of them can work for you in a way that the others won't work.
I watch Lydia's channel to help understand shape and proportion but I'm definitely way more adventurous with my color choices and accessories because of my coloring, size, and preferences.
@@singlehandedbeauty3581 Yep knowledge is power and the more you understand about colour including underlying skin tone, shape and proportion, principles the better. Then you evaluate your own body and colouring to determine which you want to emphasise and which you want to detract from. Then it's constantly evaluating and building on your understanding. So you will avoid making mistakes but also be more confident. French women do this over generations and this is the essence of style.
Clutches are elegant but very inconvenient, imagine going to a cocktail party holding a drink in one hand your clutch on the other and you need to shake somebody’s hand😂
Same reason don’t like clutches, although they look smart but just not practical! And it’s just easier to leave it and forget it somewhere whereas anything with a strap will just stay on the shoulder!
Shake hand? People does that still? Oh no no, I stopped with that since covid. I refuse and go like "Ah since covid I don't shake hands". Actually not many offers their hand these days and the few that does makes me feel almost offended for being so inconciderat lol But then I had OCD long before that and hated touching peoples hands so this is a nice out for me now🙈
=Agree across the board, and then you show the beige metallic that your grandma would wear and I low key like it! AND I follow you not to conform 100% but to listen to your views and shape them within my lifestyle, needs, climate, age, and profession! So, I look at your slouchy bags and I think a perfect addition to get me out of my rut! I'll keep my grannie bag, and I'll explore a price-per-wear slouchyversion for fun! Well done Lydia! (does this make sense?) And love that you take a stand and are not wishy washy. Your taking a stand is more helpful than you know!
I love your style and the concept. Keep it classy. I am 54 years old I went through all the trending and keep it classy saved lots of money rather than follow all the trends. Thank you for your video always great point on keep it classy.❤
Cropped trench coats are boxy and can be difficult to style with the right bottoms. Hard pass on them and will always lean into the mid thigh or just below the knee as they allow you to move easily and getting in/out of the car etc is much easier.
I love how you analyze the trends in this video! I am aiming for a curated, cohesive, capsule style wardrobe. Some people buy so much stuff, it feels like taking a bunch of spaghetti and flinging at the wall to see what sticks.
Yes I think it's a great combination. I think she was saying the reddish brown wasn't working for her. But I think the juxtaposition of the snakeskin print with simple lines really works.
I have been inspired for a couple of years now by your beautifully classic style. Thank you! The dupe I found for the Loewe clutches is by M.Gemi - I believe it's called the Sarita. I have her in black. She's a beauty!
Love your blouse! And your style. Very classy and classic styles which never go out of style. I like your tips about wearing silver jewelry. Those clutch bags are beautiful. I like the suggestions for belts as well.
A heads up on the olive trend: Me+Em has a splendid merino cashmere ribbed cropped T-shirt in a boxy cut, in dark olive which looks good with slouchy wide-legged trousers.
I've been eyeing that Flattered suede bag for a little while now and was not ready to take the $445 plunge - BUT when I saw you feature it in this video, I immediately ordered it. I've learned that anything you recommend sells out very quickly 😅 I got the black as it fits my wardrobe better, but I am coveting the beige - and the grey is nice too. Thanks for your classy style, Lydia!
Lord have mercy. Don’t throw anything away, ok? It’s all been done for decades. Not sure why this age group loves beiiiige so much. And no, the slouchy clutch looks like you picked up a cushion from your sofa by accident.
I really enjoyed the video! I’ve heard some rumors from stylists and saw several trend-setting brands like miu miu that fashion is slowly going away from oversize styles. I definitely don’t think we’ll wear the same things we did in 2010, however we’ll be going in a direction towards more fitting styles. What do you think?
I have been looking for clutches and a lot of them look like a structured bag that you just hold onto not a slouchy bag so you’re constant pairing the slouch clutch I like that better because it would be easier to hold onto. Thank you so much for your continued ideas for the videos very very informational and, sometimes when we purchase things were not really thinking things through thank you so much
Dear Lydia, I hope, you are doing well! I ordered this top that you are wearing in this video. It’s beautiful and I like the natural fabric and fair production of the garments. So happy with my purchase! Thank you for introducing this brand to me.
I agree about leopard print. It's not my thing in general. But I'm glad to see how to do it and not look bad. I see so many people trying too hard with this one.
Genuine question here: regarding posture when talking, is that better when we have our arms free besides our body or squished to your body? I found it squishing your arms to your body looks weird but knowing her who always speaks what’s better or not, I feel like she knows about this better as well.
As always, loved your video. Age 52 here and a college professor. I struggle with the sorts of pieces like the khaki but frilly top that you showed. I personally don't love that piece either, but I could see myself questioning: "Well, it's a neutral and it stands out. Is it a good, current piece?" Wondering if you have a 3 or so question list you should ask yourself about styling outfits (or buying pieces) this season?
After being careful with impulse buying I was yesterday so close to buy an oversized suede bomber jacket in cognac. It was on sale and last item and I had just pressed "pay" when I was like "Wait, what are you doing? Is this jacket even in your style?! And the colour does it even suit your wardrobe?!" Had to abort it. I mean I loove suede, but a bomber jacket? Its not even my style! So how the hell em I supposed to get "a lot of wear" from it because there is no way I would wear it that often. My style in autumn/winter is like clean cut long wool coats (and down coats). The colour is not subtle at all etc. And its pricy as hell aswell. Ugh Same with suede long skirt I was close to buy. I mean, they look great, but is it even my style and how much wear can I get out of it because suede long skirt sure is a statement piece! Right? Edit: But I did buy two suede tote bags 😅 One in khaki from asos and one in grey. This trend is dangerous. I believe I will end up with several suede pieces this season but I will try my best to withstand😪
Great video. I’m new to your channel and I love your vibe. And, I can’t tell the difference in the two Bottega bags and the LYXBAGS is close enough and it’s cute so that’s good enough for me.
I actually like the bad you called from grannies and i think it could work very well with a nightwear all black blazer and pants. The suede one in beige i find horrendous, looks like a paper bag to put the bread to go
Thanks Lydia. I’m thinking about a Christmas party I have to attend, and would love to look as elegant as you always look. I don’t want wear a fancy dress that I wouldn’t have use for after the party. Any suggestions would be much appreciated ❤
I agree with everything. Love your take :) You influenced me to look a Massimo Dutti and Mango. But, I loved the green long sleeve top - it is a basic with a twist. Where is it from?
Hi Lydia! I love your aesthetic and your approach. I love how you mention less expensive alternatives to certain items. I wonder if you would ever consider including a vegan alternative with accessories once in a while...in fact, I'm sure some of the Mango and Zara items probably are, anyway. I do not judge others but I have made a commitment to add no new animal product items to my wardrobe. Although I admit I own some gorgeous designer investments from years ago that I'm still deciding whether to sell. Anyway..if you said that in a 20 min video, that would probably be 30 seconds...that would be about .025% of your time and super appreciated. Thanks for listening..or other suggestions of vegan friendly creators to watch, are welcome!
I can’t imagine trying to follow “fashion rules”. Especially now, that I’m older. Last thing in life I need is to be told what to wear or not wear. I don’t get it at all. Don’t people normally just get drawn to one thing or another? But because it’s a trend or not? I’m confused.
Lydia- I couldn’t find your Instagram short on ways to style a dark red sweatshirt. Could you please link it in this video? I just bought a dark red sweatshirt and want ideas how to style!
To me, the reason why animal prints look cheap when used as clothes, is the fact that real snake leather or leopard skin... are small and thick peaces, only usable on accessories. When used on large peaces, it automatically looks fake.

Lydia you have impeccable taste. It embodies class and practicality. I look forward to all of your videos and shorts!
I agree wholeheartedly! 😊😊😊
Be mindful that if your skin is darker, then you can easily rock the brighter colours and look fantastic.
Likewise, if you're tall and slim you might want more dramatic styles, and some of them can work for you in a way that the others won't work.
Very rightly said! Vibrant pinks/ purples can look so good on darker skin tones!
Exactly ❤ Also personal taste plays a major role in style

Same reason don’t like clutches, although they look smart but just not practical! And it’s just easier to leave it and forget it somewhere whereas anything with a strap will just stay on the shoulder!
i agree! i love a bag that doubles as a clutch but not a clutch alone lol! otherwise you get stuck doing t. rex handshakes 😂
But can't you just put the drink down, then shake someone's hand?
@@petite2276 sure you can but if there isno place to put it down
Shake hand? People does that still? Oh no no, I stopped with that since covid. I refuse and go like "Ah since covid I don't shake hands". I’ll take fitted over boxy any day. Petites look dumpy in shapeless, oversized jackets and sweaters. I think fitted looks classic in any age.
Cropped ones look great on petites, when boxy too. Just because you are short doesnt mean everything has to be tight.
=Agree across the board, and then you show the beige metallic that your grandma would wear and I low key like it! Really on point video, Lydia. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with the new season trends!
Love this! Would love a similar round up of fall/winter shoes. What to avoid and which "trends" will last?
I bought a secondhand classic Burberry trench, 20 years ago in Greenwich market, £25.00. I still wear it.
I love your style and the concept. Keep it classy. I am 54 years old I went through all the trending and keep it classy saved lots of money rather than follow all the trends. Thank you for your video always great point on keep it classy.❤
I would love to see a video on how you are styling all of these trends in a variety of ways. Thanks.
Cropped trench coats are boxy and can be difficult to style with the right bottoms. Hard pass on them and will always lean into the mid thigh or just below the knee as they allow you to move easily and getting in/out of the car etc is much easier.
Right! The coat must be same tall as it’s owner. Only thus you can brake others necks looking back to you.
Agree… Animal prints look more Stylish as an Accessory , Studded Belts r nice but Not so much on Boots or Bags… U have Great Taste 👌
Thank you for all the information and the quality videos you put up there. Keep up the good work!
I love how you analyze the trends in this video! I am aiming for a curated, cohesive, capsule style wardrobe. Some people buy so much stuff, it feels like taking a bunch of spaghetti and flinging at the wall to see what sticks.
Stellar, as always. 💗🌿 (This felt like a master class in styling.) Learned so much. Thank you. 🌸
I've had a silk snake print midi shirt dress for a while now & I get so many compliments when I wear it, I love it!
Yes I think it's a great combination. I think she was saying the reddish brown wasn't working for her. But I think the juxtaposition of the snakeskin print with simple lines really works.
It’s practically a neutral ❤
I enjoy hearing your tips - I would like to see more videos like this!
I have been inspired for a couple of years now by your beautifully classic style. Thank you! The dupe I found for the Loewe clutches is by M.Gemi - I believe it's called the Sarita. I have her in black. She's a beauty!

Essa mulher tem estilo. Eu admiro ela 🤩💫
18:35 these slouchy drawstring bags look like toiletries bags to me.
Dear Lydia, I hope, you are doing well! I ordered this top that you are wearing in this video. It’s beautiful and I like the natural fabric and fair production of the garments. So happy with my purchase! Thank you for introducing this brand to me.
This is the best style advice I’ve seen online recently
I agree about leopard print. It's not my thing in general. But I'm glad to see how to do it and not look bad. I see so many people trying too hard with this one.
Always brilliant and full of content x
Aw, as a Latina I would wear more than one option in one outfit 🥴 so good to have your point of view ❤
Great tips. I prefer to shop my closet. I truly wanted a cropped trench, but that is going to date itself, and I already have a ralph lauren trench. 😊
Good suggestions. Keeping it simple. Like the trousers you’re wearing actually.
The best and concrete styling tipps come always from Lydia ❤👌🏼🤗
I loved it. Could you do one on shoes and booties. Maybe how to wear this fall
Omg amazing job i took noted thank you for helping you are brilliant, informative, professional, excellent
Love your style. Subtle and classy. Am an older woman and it is refreshing to watch that in your g3nerstion, there is still elegance..
Thank you for your videos,I’m really enjoying your tips,I look the simple classy looks
Hi, Lydia! Thank you so much for all your inspiration! I wonder if you can do a video on how to wear Chelsea boots. I love them but find them tricky.
Amazing Lydia! Greetings from Croatia 🙋🏼♀️
Thank you Lydia...great trend/styling advice.❤
Fabulous 👌 Lydia 💕
Being terrified of snakes I could never wear anything in that print!
😀
A thousand times me too!
The green jacket is amazing
Thank you, Lydia!!😊❤
I was really hoping that the first thing you would mention is animal prints, especially in long dresses. And you did :) Love your style :)
I really like your taste and advices😊 so classy🌻
Really liked your thoughts on simple design. ❤

I love your combo of this Video very much...a lovely drapoed top and a goegious pant in a beautiful burgundy colour😊
Great tip on the olive color trend
Could you do an updated version of creating a bag collection for all occasions?
I bought a pair of burgundy velvet mary jane flats. Would this be good for the trend?
You also have a snake print handbag at the back. 😊
Great video. I’m new to your channel and I love your vibe. And, I can’t tell the difference in the two Bottega bags and the LYXBAGS is close enough and it’s cute so that’s good enough for me.
I love the shirt you are wearing in the video. I can see that piece with so many skirts and pants
Thank you. Love the tips 😊
Lol! I hate snakes so why would I wear it! Lol! 🤣🤣🤣they creep me out!
Love your style and when you list the links to all the items. The LTK site is difficult to find items from your videos!
I actually like the bad you called from grannies and i think it could work very well with a nightwear all black blazer and pants. The suede one in beige i find horrendous, looks like a paper bag to put the bread to go
Hey, I love safari style!! 😂
Hate animal prints, think it always look cheap
You're creeping up to 1k subscribers.
Cheers from 🇨🇦

Any suggestions would be much appreciated ❤
Dear Lydia, I love your videos!
Leopard yes, snake no! I'm on the prowl (forgive the imagery!) for a casual fleece leopard hat and matching glove set.
Great video! I appreciate you ❤
I’m not into the Western or Boho trends at all, I wore those decades ago.
I wasn’t even into that trend back then. Boho doesn’t agree with me at all… 😅
I live in Texas and despise the western trend. It’s never been out of style here, unfortunately so I definitely pass on that every year.
I agree with everything. Love your take :) You influenced me to look a Massimo Dutti and Mango. But, I loved the green long sleeve top - it is a basic with a twist. Where is it from?
there are many snakes that are brown as well
I really feel it’s nearly impossible to appear elegant digging in a slouchy clutch. Give me a structured bag any day.
Wanted to see the crop leather on!
I like the snake print bag on the top shelf....where is it from?
Lydia, this is a wonderful video!
I can't help but most look at your hands. They are beautiful 😍.
An animal print dress can overwhelm some frames.

Snake skin print is a classic staple if you are over 30
Great advice! ❤🇨🇦👍
Can’t afford a $430 belt. ☹️
Do you have your current makeup listed anywhere? Love the shades you are wearing.
I can’t imagine trying to follow “fashion rules”. Especially now, that I’m older. Last thing in life I need is to be told what to wear or not wear. I don’t get it at all. Don’t people normally just get drawn to one thing or another? But because it’s a trend or not? I’m confused.
Yet here you are. I think the title of the video was clear as to its content. Curious…
Lydia- I couldn’t find your Instagram short on ways to style a dark red sweatshirt. Could you please link it in this video? I just bought a dark red sweatshirt and want ideas how to style!
Where did you get your top! I love it! Where did you get your skirt/pant?!
I loooooved all of it!!!😂
What are your thoughts on a head to toe burgundy monochrome outfit, too much? Or is it good as a monochrome?
It’s gorgeous. I saw a monochrome outfit in burgundy on the Ralph Lauren site. Stunning!
I love the Ninety per cent top you are wearing
Nice video❤
I’m shopping my closet bringing out suede bags, suede boots, my trench, and cardigans
